says its for family mobile is that same as metro model spec wise? and can it use roms for metro?
I believe that is the Tmo version. The t-mobile and Metro version are the same.

Curious how this went with you.... I currently have an H631 that is locked to t-mobile; when I go to carrier unlock it with the app, it always fails. Have even tried a couple of services but without success (even got my money back on one of the tries !) I have been able to unlock two other t-mobile g stylos and they have been working fine on at&t, but can't seem to get this other one unlocked....

I switched to Tmobile and craigslisted a SM-G900A, got the unlock code from ATT, put it on tmobile.
I want the bloatware gone, for sure.
I've read it's not safe to put a tmobile rom on it, especially the A, so is there any other way to 'optimize' it for a network it wasn't designed for?
We bought my husband an unlocked 3rd gen moto g, and he's been having better network connectivity.
I understand I'm using this phone on a network other than what it was designed for - but hardware wise it should be fine.
What have the developer gods come up with firmware/software wise that can help me?
I'm out of my league here, never had to work cross carrier.
Thanks so much,
Silvia
I have my sprint locked galaxy s7 sm-g930p but recently switched to t-mobile. The phone i was using on t-mobile broke today and I need to get my sprint s7 working for the t-mobile network if it all possible. What would be the best way to get this phone working a different network? I've seen posts about unlocking services but they seem like they might be a scam and I've also seen about flashing the unlocked versions firmware onto the phone but im not sure if that would even unlock the sim or not. What is the easiest way to go about unlocking this damn phone?
Thank you for any help on this.
I've done a bit of digging and I can't seem to find a clear answer here. Does the boost variant need to be on boost service for a year for it to be unlocked? I thought flashing a custom rom bypassed the SIM locking but I do not get any sprint service with AICP, nor will sprint allow me to add the device to my account (it obviously shows up as locked to them). Is there a step I'm missing or am I SOL? Thanks!

I think that only works to use it on a GSM network. Sprint owns boost, and it may be the CDMA radio that's locked. So I don't think that's going to work.
Unfortunately I think you're right. Thanks for the input, hopefully I can still return the phone and get a sprint branded version.
Yes, Sprint, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile and most other Sprint-based Prepaid carriers know the IMEIs registered to the devices. Sprint knows your device is supposed to be used on Boost Mobile and will only allow it to register with Boost service. Even if it's unlocked, you can only use it on Boost unless you use a carrier that's not owned by Sprint, like Verizon or US Cellular or some GSM carrier like AT&T or T-Mobile.
is there anyway to sim unlock (carrier unlock this phone? Please

im looking for the same thing.
nope they wont let you unlock from their service...tracfone told me it wouldn't work on there new and improved network so they offered me a $40 rebate off any new tracfone over $80....I cussed and argued for two weeks with no avail...I had another old tracfone and was also running on that old Verizon cmda network, well they activated it..I put the sim card in the galaxy and it works fine....they just wanted me to buy a new phone...well i get on the phone with them to tell them that I got my 902l working on their "new network" ...they said that I was a liar and that the imei for my phone was never even branded with verizon/tracfone ever....I said cool and let them go with what the computers show...I figured out that since i'm flash happy with ASOP pie ROM's i knock out my radios or whatever all the time...so when my phone doesn't work my imei# is also blank slated meaning no carrier or csc identifiers...which means that you have a good chance of getting Boost mobile or metroPCS to work...I'm from Knoxville, TN and I called every carrier trying to get service when tracfone went loopy....Boost will activate it for sure because they run the old cmda...I'm good with tracfone I've always used there service...but I will say that I do have a Tmobile 900T motherboard i got for $10 off ebay on the way because I'm needing bootloader upgrade so I can use my fingerprint sensor on these newer ROMS...And the GSM radios so i can just go with whoever carrier I feel....
Thinking about getting one, the 128 GB/8 GB T-Mobile version, which is cheaper than the unlocked one.
This *should* work on MetroPCS, won't it?
If i remember correctly between MetroPCS/T-Mobile, though they're practically on the same network i don't think you can use a T-Mobile phone on MetroPCS unless the phone is unlocked. I had a LG phone exclusive from Metro once and i tried putting in T-Mobile sim and it didn't work for me, unless maybe it's the other way around where it'll work on Metro coming from a T-mobile phone?? Hope this somewhat help.
I'm not sure with any OnePlus device, but I had two Samsung phones (J7 and Grand Prime) that I helped build ROM's for and they both supported T-Mobile and Metro sims on every build. Just call a Metro store and ask, they should be able to give you an answer. Good luck.

Turns out the seller had an unlocked one for the same price and specs, so I bought that one.
