Hey, sorry if this is discussed in another thread, but I read a few and couldn't find the answer.
I'm on ATT, but I want to have an unlocked bootloader, so if I buy the Tmobile version for full price online can I just put my ATT sim card in there and it will work? Also will I be able to get LTE?

I don't believe it is that easy. YOu either need to get Tmobile to Unlock the phone so you can move it to another carrier or pay someone online to unlock it - I don't think you can just switch sim cards unless you have first unlocked the phone. (I am not talking about unlocking the bootloader - that is something else entirely - TMOBILE probably won't lock theirs like ATT does - but the phone itself is locked to the carrier until you get it unlocked)

Well if I buy it from Negri online it says it already comes unlocked. So since it is unlocked then is it able to be used on ATT, or is it only unlocked for Tmobile?

If you buy it from TMOBILE it is probably locked but there are a bunch of places you can buy unlocked Note 3's - plus yiou can always unlock the MOBILE NOTE 3 either with TOMOBILEs help or thru an online service.

Yes you should. It has the bands to support it. Keyword should until someone with device on hand confirms it.
I plan on walking in Wednesday afternoon to a T-Mobile store, purchasing two Note 3s at full price (one black, one white) and then immediately using them both on AT&T. Actually one phone on AT&T and the other on AIO Wireless (AT&T network).
My history is with Verizon and Sprint so I'm not 100% sure about all the specifics of SIM cards.
I'd imagine I'll ask if its SIM locked, hopefully they say no and I'll be on my way. But if it is carrier SIM locked, I just ask them to unlock the device? Is this normal? Does anyone see any issues with this?

i dont think they will be selling the device alone at full price anytime soon..
i ordered mine from negri and overnighted it so i am hoping to get it wensday/thursday. will post back with results but if it is unlocked fcc confirms which bands it works with so there should be no issues at all.

Yeah I believe in-store, T-mobile requires you to have service with them to buy a phone at full price (even pre-paid service). So you'd have to signup for the cheapest one (I think like $30/mo), buy the phone, and cancel right away. However they still charge you for the first month.
However they should unlock it no issues (though you may have to call - don't know about t-mobile).
This was my experience at a T-mobile corporate store, you may have better luck at a franchise store.

Hi. I think these will precisely answer your questions about 3G/4G compatabilities between all US models (including ATT and TMo) for use in the US and abroad. A lot of people seem to think it has immensely clarified their concerns. It's partially based on FCC filings as well as documents from T-Mobile so is as official as it gets.

Hi everyone -
Have been on here quite frequently for my SGSIIE4GT, but it's been a while since I've posted. I'm in the market for a new phone, and I think I will be going with the Note 3. However, boy am I confused on which model is the right fit for me. I could really use some help and a little insight, as the reps at AT&T, TMO, VZN, and Samsung Live Chat haven't been able to answer my questions.
I'm currently with Sprint, and looking to leave. I would be using the Note 3 near San Francisco 90-95% of the time, but I do travel 6-7x/yr to Asia, Canada, UK, and South America. I'm pretty sure I will buy the phone on no contract and use with TMO, AT&T, Straight Talk, or AIO. I've been reading some issues with "region locks" though that scare me a bit, not sure if this is still an issue with the models sold in the US.
From what I can see, ATT, TMO, VZN, and Sprint all have their own "versions" of the phone. ATT and TMO obviously use the same cell tech (GSM), so I don't understand why they have different versions. The VZN and Sprint versions would run on CDMA, which as I understand, won't do me any good if I travel overseas due to no CDMA elsewhere. Then there's the int'l unlocked versions, and the Developer edition. But then I heard just yesterday that the VZN Note 3 works on GSM (somehow, haven't figured that out though).....is there a SIM card slot in that version? After all that, I guess what I'm looking for is this which I could use some insight on:
Want to use the phone:
-with LTE using ATT/TMO/ST/AIO/VZN here in the U.S.
-want to buy off contract
-do not want bloatware...so do I need to buy unlocked?
-need to have it functional still if I go out of the country and purchase a local SIM card (some people ask me exactly which service I use overseas, and I don't have an answer b/c I haven't done this yet, my Sprint phone didn't even give me the option)
Which model is appropriate for that type of use? I read on Amazon that TMO's version is the best one out there b/c the ATT model doesn't work on TMO, but TMO's works on TMO and ATT.....
Thanks so much for your time. Samsung has really confused me with this phone, and could really just use some suggestions. Thanks again!

I would think international n9005 would be the one for you i know it will cover all Europe and i know it works on u.s t mobile, so have a look into that one

The 9005 will work in all other countries pretty much.
In the US it might work on tmobile as stated above but I'm not sure about the others.

Thanks guys. I have seen the N9005 tossed around a few times as well. I think the constant question I keep having is I see this phone made with the SD800 or the Exynos chip....but not which models have which chipset. I found the 9005 on Negiri in 32gb and the SD800....but if it works on tmobile why wouldn't it work on ATT? I thought they run the exact same tech.....no?

Awesome news, thanks.
Do you know if the Note 3 Developer Edition for Verizon, which works on their LTE network, comes with a SIM card slot that I can utilize if I go overseas? Boy, that would be ideal. I checked out the manual (http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/co...ual_MI9_F5.pdf) and it shows a SIM slot for the phone, no?
I was told by one of the writers at Droid Life that the Verizon N3 can be used on GSM. I thought that was impossible.
I seriously apologize if these are elementary questions, I truly do appreciate any insight. Just don't want to make a huge financial mistake.

Thanks for the input guys/gals. Really appreciate it. I went to Best Buy after work last night and talked with the Samsung tech rep. Turns out, the VZN Note 3 comes factory unlocked (per FCC law), and it has a sim card slot so I can use it on GSM if I travel overseas. One and done. I already put my name on the backorder list for the developer edition from Samsung so I can be sure to have functionality to remove bloatware. Wouldn't it be cool if the Note 3 could just come with 4.3 and Samsung's additions, but not any of Verizon's garbage??? I know, pipe dream.

Whoa, so it's a good thing I didn't buy the DE Note 3 yet and just on backorder. Just read - Verizon doesn't allow 4G phones to go prepaid? That makes no sense, because then the DE Note 3 would then be nothing but a paperweight since it must be purchased at full price (meaning, you could only then use it prepaid, no?). I do value Verizon's network, but their prices are just absurd compared to competitors.
Is there any difference whatsoever between the TMO and AT&T variants of the Note 3? I can't seem to spot a single difference.
hello guys, im planning to get this phone, used if i can find it for 200$ usd, max. thats my budget, im from venezuela and i came here to ask, which model should i get? which variant? what are the differences and all the variants have the same dev support? thanks for your answer, and if anybody knows where can i get this phone used in good conditions in the USA (i have a friend over there who can send this to me with relatives who are coming next month) thanks.
I can tell you to not buy the H918 TMobile one. It's locked down hard. It seems the unlocked version (US996) it's the one to get at least here in the US. You'll have to verify bands to make sure you can use it there.
My wife and I use the Verizon variant (VS995). We just upgraded from the V10 a couple of weeks ago and have been mostly pleased so far.
Pros:
-carrier unlocked from the start (works with GSM carriers)
-rootable with no anti-rollback mechanism if you want to update
Cons:
-FM radio doesn't work (at least not without some effort from the end user)
-lots of bloatware (can be removed if rooted)
-Bluetooth connectivity is crap (but ROMs are available which may address this)
Hope that helps!

Thanks for your reply, isnt the verizon version just cdma thing? we dont have cdma carriers anymore over here.
I made the mistake of buying the H918 without realizing the limits on it. On swappa the H918 is around $200. The unlocked is around $275 - $300 so it's more than you want to spend.

Verizon phones are carrier unlocked out of the box and will work on GSM networks, even though they default to CDMA. I've put an AT&T SIM (GSM) into a bone-stock V10 from Verizon and got calls without a problem.

Would the H910 be similar to the US996? Where I am located I only can find H910 and H918 but I understand H918 is a bad option if I want to load roms or do anything more custom with it.
Hi there, I'm looking at buying an S10+ on eBay, and I see quite a few from AT&T (unlocked) that don't support Band 71. I'm on T-Mobile, and was wondering if I can install the T-Mobile firmware, since all of the G975U models supposedly support all the US firmwares, correct? If I do install the T-Mobile firmware on one of the AT&T unlocked models, will it activate Band 71? I live in a city and don't really need Band 71, but I do travel frequently and was just recently in an area of Band 71 coverage that my current phone LG G6 couldn't support, so I'm curious.
I'm using the following page for reference on which firmwares/phone models support which bands:

Thanks, LimeyBastard. So just to confirm I understand this correctly, all of the Snapdragon/US based models have the exact same hardware, which supports Band 71, but only Tmobile and US Cellular activate Band 71 support in the firmware? Therefore, simply flashing the tmobile firmware onto any G975U unit will result in a phone that can use Band 71?
The ATT phones for sale seem considerably cheaper than the tmobile ones for some reason, so this seems like a good way to save money.

Excellent, thank you! As it turns out, there's also a flamingo pink phone that is only sold by AT&T. I'd love to use that on T-Mobile. Of course, I can without Band 71, but now if I find myself stuck somewhere in the country, I might be able to have a pink phone to ward off the wolves! Haha. Now I just have to see if it's easy to unlock an AT&T carrier locked phone.

Hi Ace42! I don't need the ATT variant, it just so happened the cheapest model I found on eBay was an ATT variant, so I thought I could save money that way. I'd be perfectly happy if I could find a U1 variant, or at this stage any of the unlocked carrier variants. It seems unlocking these phones isn't a guaranteed thing yet? There are some really cheap ones from Sprint.
On this subject, does anyone know if these 3rd party unlock services are reliable/safe? I hate to spend money to unlock my phone, but if it costs $25 and I can use my phone on another network, I suppose it's worth it. I believe I can request an unlock from the carrier in many cases, but if they turn me down, I don't want to spend money on a phone I can't use, as there isn't currently a DIY method to unlock the G975U, correct?

I've used ATT's device unlock multiple times in the past. The only issue is that requests are denied for no reason, which means resubmitting your request. You don't have to be an ATT subscriber (T-Mobile user).

I know this is an old thread, but were you ever successful in enabling band 71 on the S10?
I am curious as to doing the same thing on an S10e - which also has a US and an international version. My main reason for wanting to do it is not cost, but the fact that the S10e comes with dual-SIM support, whereas for some insane reason, the US version does not. It seems to be that many of Samsung's US phones drop 2-SIM support.
Hello!
I found this V35 bidding on ebay which according to the seller's title it is AT&T unlocked.
Before i buy it,i want to know if i can use it in Europe..will it work for 2g,3g and 4g networks?
Do i have to flash another rom for it to work on my network?
Thanks in advance!
I bought an AT&T branded phone on ebay. It was advertised as unlocked. It wasn't and did not work with a non AT&T sim card. If you end up in that situation, it is easy to buy a sim unlock code from a service like codes2unlock.com. The phone works great seemingly everywhere! It can be rooted too if you're into that.

Oh thank you very much for this info.
Basically i don't really have it with rooting, but i was thinking of just flashing a new stock rom that could remove all AT&T bloatware.
I've read somewhere that this is possible to do via a ULM version kdz rom.

Though, Korean software is annoying because it thinks it's constantly in roaming and is very conservative when switching networks, but I know the hardware is good because a rescan always finds me a 4G network. Anyways, I'm sure that flashing ULM rom will fix that, I just don't have the time needed to mess around with that atm.
Enjoy your new phone

It is so nice to hear that you can use it in Europe.
It's a really wonderful and hardware strong device, and on the other hand so beautiful without all these ugly notches.
It is a real shame of LG that left European market out..they always find a way to shoot theirselves on feet.
And hey..i don't own it yet,i just watched it on a bid,but thanks anyway for the wish)).
And for sure i will keep looking for it until i find one i like and can afford the cost of course, because extra cost for tax and import charges is about 70 euros more than original price.
Thank you for the infos anyway!
