I did not think you could burn a image in to the screen on these phones but I just found a dark burned in spot on the bottom left of my screen....
Not sure what to do about it makes me sad :-(
Just thought I would warn people that it seems you can burn images in to the screen.... I was using a hero theme on my phone that has the launher bar the graphic for that burned in to the bottom left of my screen.
:-(
Wow, I thought image burn-in only effected CRTs. I'm sorry for your loss :-( What are you going to do? If it's in warranty you could probably send it to HTC.

Yeah I am going to check the warranty and see if I can send it in for a replacement or a new screen or something.
But yeah I thought it only effected CRTs to and not LCD screens so I am not sure why it has the spot. it is weird it is a faded dark spot like that part of the screen is failing but if you look hard you can see the circle with the arrow in it like the graphic the theme I had on used nothing seems to make it go away.
Actually.. I believe all our phones does this? For example, open up browser and Google, then hit home. Go outside under very very bright sunlight, and you can still see the burned in image of the browser.
Updated I took the battery out of my phone and let it set for about 10 minutes then put it back in the image has gone away but there is still a faint dark spot in that corner. this image stayed on the screen even after doing two wipes and installing two new roms on the phone. the image only went away after leaving the battery out for 10 minutes.

Yeah I know but I was flashing a new rom anyway figured it would not hurt anything
LCD don't get burn in like a CRT but it does do SOMETHING less permanent that has a similar affect as burn in. I forget what it's actually called though.

It must be some other kind of damage, as it is not possible to "burn in" a lcd. There are no elements in a LCD that can be irreversibly biased toward one color due to normal usage.

This isn't burn-in, its just a characteristic of the LCD module used in the Dream.
it is possible on lcds to get burnin, its just not burn in, its called image persistence, it just needs the image to be on the screen alot longer than on a plasma or crt for it to occur

Try using a flashlight program that sets the screen to white this should reset the colors.

i have noticed this too but i agree with RaiderX303 that its not actual burn-in but the screen's characteristics while in operation. if you let the phone sit for a short while and then go outside and look at it again, you wont see any marks or ghost images....
hoestly, its a cheap LCD screen and its to be expected...
As for the original poster... have you left the phone in direct sunlight? maybe on a window or in your car? The sun has tendencies to mark or "blot" the screens cause they heat up and leak, looks like an ink blot.... as me how i know this... LOL, either way, try changing the phone cause i dont think i would be able to live with a marked screen either
goodluck,

thats what Pioneer does to their Kuro's and it's one hell of an idea if you havent tried it yet. But to the other posters yes LCD's arent perfect either and while it isnt called burn in, its pretty much the same thing to a lesser extent.
Dark spots on an LCD can also be "pressure points", ie, the LCD has been subjected to excessive pressure at that spot at some point, and basically it gets, in laymen terms, a "bruise"... not fully broken, but damaged. Usually happens if some the phone freezes and some yahoo that borrowed your phone decides pressing harder will make things work again.... or it pressed up against that marble in your pocket a bit too hard, etc.
Ok I just bought my HD2 from T-mobile like maybe an hour ago I was lucky that my friend works at the store and they got some in stock. Lucky me right? Well I just wanted to know if this is normal. I can see pixels and dots on the screen in sunlight and if the phone is tilted at a certain angle along with what looks like a crash hatch pattern of lines that also look like pixels. I called support to see if this was a problem they said no. The t-mobile model phone also did this. Is this normal and what is it attributed to? Thanks.
Yeah same here i dont believe its dead pixies as it follows a straight line and is organized. I think its the screen itself..Anyone can confirm this?
I read some where that it's for the capacitive screen to operate correctly and the iphone has this in certain spots of the phone. I guess it's normal unless someone else wants to let us know if we are freaking out or not?
it is normal and in all hd2 versions ,it is the capastive sensors

Are some people paranoid or is it just me. Obviously they are not dead pixels. Or else you would be able to tell when the screen was lit up. My wing had the dots. I believe it was for the touchscreen the crosshatch pattern is the capasative screen
100% it's the capacitive touch sensors...
paranoia abound in this thread. i think the dots looks cool. especially when they sparkle while the screen is off. never shows up with any indoor light so it doesn't bother me while inside.
Wouldn't the always on screen burn the pixels on the screen? What you guys think?
It's not fixed to one location, it moves around in timed intervals to prevent burn in.
I understand, but the navbar ( in other phones with amoled) is not on all the time and it gets burned on the screen too. I dont know I guess if there is and option I will turn it off

Yup, nav bar is high contrast and fixed position on the screen. Hence the reason Samsung continues to use capacitive buttons. I don't think the always-on feature will cause burn in, since it jumps around.

I think some people are overly paranoid about burn in (not that there's anything wrong with that). I have had the S3, S4, S5 and the Tab S and never had any issues with burn in.
Good, maybe u didnt notice, i had s6 note 5, note 4 all of them had burnin
They have always on displays in stores look at the phones all of them have burnins even the s6 note 5's
Super Amoleds get but ins thats the type of technically they are , they are beautiful the best displays, but the pixel's degrade.
This is why I just can't commit to phones with AMOLED screens. These are too expensive to have issues such as burn in a different whatnot. I know the technology is improving but burn in still exists.
Never had burn in with any of my phones with amoled. Non issue for me.

My Galaxy 2 got burn in within a few months. My Nexus 6 got it in about three days.
It's depressing to see more and more phones moving to AMOLED.
No, because the screen content moves periodically preventing it happening.

No it's not, AMOLEDs are awesome. As long as you don't use your phone 24/7 at full brightness and display static images on it all the time, burn-in won't be an issue. It's not something that happens willy nilly.
Not this argument again.

there is an anti burn in app that basically flashes various colors on the screen for as long as you let it go. Kinda works in the same idea of shaking an etch-a-sketch board. How effective it is, i dont know as burn in is ususally pretty permanent.

I had a burn in problem with an old S3. Was using it as a security camera and the screen turned on. I tried several of the kind of apps that youdoofus suggested. None of them made any difference. Sorry.
So as titled I've only just noticed that I've got screen burn in, I've had this phone about 15 months now and I've looked after it pretty well, I'm assuming warranty doesn't cover screen burn in issues, also just wondering if anyone else has the same

Yea. Mine was. I ended swapping it to full immersive mode root.
It went away mine wasn't to bad. But it's a common issue on any and all oled screens.

I mean it's not too bad, you'll only see it if you really go looking for it, I knew it was a risk with these types of screens, which is why I never tried any aod mods back when I had my s6

I also have burn in issues, my device is about as old as yours. In my case when looking at a blue screen I see the Whatsapp phone call icon (the one used for Whatsapp phone calls when in a chat). Also the borders of the upper notification bar is slightly visible. What did you end up doing?

Can't think how this has happened as I always have auto brightness on which is rarely on full brightness and my phone is in my pocket most of the day, only noticable on a white background thankfully but can't unsee it now I know it is there

What did you end up doing? I am considering contacting Amazon because it is still under warranty but on the other hand it is barely visible (but still, it's there and as you said i can' unsee it) and who can guarantee that it won't happen again?

I am using the rainbow/colours screensaver when charging, I read somewhere that might help to reduce the burn in over time, but I don't see any improvement after a couple of weeks using it yet

Nice solution to this is to install Renovate ICE ROM, change status bar colours transparency to about 60% so the whites are dimmer / less vivd.
I also use XDA Nav bar with split pill mode so I don't have any full white static parts. (Nav bar moved below screen) (See screenshot attached) All I do is swipe up onto the screen in the apropriate area. (You will have to config pill yourself unless I can get a config over to you)

I had navbar line burned in after 1 year of use. I went to Samsung Support Centre in Stoke On Trent and they have replaced my screen , frame and battery under warranty within an hour. If you have no signs of damage or drop, I am pretty sure they will replace your screen as well. Regards

I have Amazon warranty of 2 years so I guess they would replace it or refund me if I contacted them... in my case the burn in is visible but not that bad in everyday use though it still bothers me... I also think there is no point in getting a replacement from Amazon without having the guarantee that it won't happen again after some time.

Let me guess, you had black navbar, status bar, and keyboard. If that's the case then of course they burned in. Burn in is nothing more than uneven decay of pixels. The black one didn't decay but the rest of your screen did
