I have searched, but I cannot find an answer.
Is there any rom wich utilize one hand operation like on the Galaxy Note series?
That the screen will be sized down in the right or left bottom? Root is no problem, but I do not want to use xposed (I know there's a module for the screen size).

A good sound profile app for android
I use one called "timeriffic". It is free and works really well.
It allows you to set times of day to change many different sound settings.
It was one of the only free ones I could find that allowed me to mute notifications but only lower the volume of the ringer at night. This was a specific requirement that I had. I am on call and need to receive calls at night but don't want to be bothered by text messages or middle of the night emails.
There are other apps out there including a couple of pay ones that a lot of people say are good like "locale". I hope this helps.
Try Profile Scheduler
Llama is simple and efficient
I found app named AudioGuru with great potential
So far, the most efficient app for me is "llama".
A bit long to configure if you want it to be perfect but so far so good

I came across this thread looking for a "quiet hours" solution and I've come to the same conclusion - llama is probably the easiest/best way to handle this

On the Galaxy Nexus there is a kernel module that detects finger slides to wake the device. Has anyone come up with something like that for the Nexus 7. If the tablet is on the table it's hard to tap the power button and having some type of slide wake would be pretty cool.
Exactly what i'm looking for. Even breaking my lurker status to bump this.
Pressing the power button all the time is annoying since it's in an awkward position.
Isn't that why we have smart cases.?

Somewhat, yes. Since this is my second post it won't let me post a URL but go to the Play store and search for PGM Nexus, it has a demo video of it.
Does PGM Nexus definitely not work? I haven't gotten around to rooting my device but Google Play claims that it's compatible.
I would love to see an update for it that adds support if it doesn't have it already....
I tried PGM, no joy. Smart Screen ON proximity wake isn't compatible either.
It gave error message about the kernel.
We need another solution to wake without physical buttons.
I have not tried it personally, but does this app work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827448
Wave Control listed as not compatible in Play store.
Does n7 even have a proximity sensor? If not (and I don't think so) no point in even considering the last two.

Well, the official Google tech spec sheet doesn't list it, but some others do list it.
There is definitely something next to the camera. As to wether it is used as a light sensor for the camera or backlight adjustment, I don't know.
Elixer shows me that my N7 has a Lite-On aI3010 Ambient Light Sensor with a relosution of 1 lux up to 72945 Lux.
I don't know if that is good enough to wave it awake.
Either way one of our kernel gods should be able to make the slide to wake work, because I'm pretty sure it has a touch screen.
Don't suppose anyone knows the PGM guy?
Bump. Any current kernel mod include this option?

bump. anyone know if anyone's implemented swipe to wake on any n7 kernels? if not, is there a limitation that prevents it?

Hey all.
I'm having some problems with my N7's touchscreen becoming unresponsive after using it for a while and it's fixed by turning on and off the screen. I know I'm not the only one by far, but I want to prove/see for once and for all that my touchscreen is imperfect. This way I can indicate the problem to other people as well as test any replacement model I will be getting.
Please share any good methods/ideas here so we can help eachother.

Easiest way is to turn on the show touch option under developer options, it will show a little dot every where you touch, after I did this I could fully see that my tablet wasnt recognizing a lot of my touches. Its definitely an issue and I'm exchanging mine tonight to see if I can get one that doesnt do this, but I dont have much hope on that because I think its the way these are designed that they will eventually have this issue, I got mine pretty much on launch day and havent had any problems that I've noticed till the past couple weeks to a month, it didnt do this for the first month or two I had it, a co-worker got one for her son and his is already doing it on occasion, so I think this is more widespread than people know
Thanks for your reply. Using Kaos 3.7.3 now and must say that I haven't had any problems with the touchscreen so far. Still testing though. Touch indicator is also enabled for now, to test morr accurately.

I've read around and it seems that it doesn't matter which batch you get be it c60, c70, c80 or even c90 the problem still exists including screen lifts.
Most likely wide spread, just not sure whether it's hardware or software related. I'm hoping it's the latter so google can release a fix

Hey guys,
so a friend of mine just bought a g2, shes coming from an iphone 4s, leaving the apple world behind.
Most of you ppl most likely know the option to disable fullscreen landscape keyboard, I'm gonna attach a screenshot here.
On stock android that shipped with her device there is no such option (at least we both can't find it).
Is some1 able to point us to said option?

I am not sure about the stock keyboard. Didn't use it for long.
But I do believe swiftkey has this option. Again not sure, using Swype nowadays(and I don't have that option too).
Anyway it is possible, so the next one might just give you the right answer
I hoped this would be possible without changing keyboard or rooting. I'm not feeling comfortable messing with some1 elses device (rooting). I've always rooted and flashed my own devices but taking that risk on a device that belongs to someone else feels not right.
Can some1 tell me (or test it) if the xblast xposed module works with stock android & keyboard to disable fullscreen keyboard?

You do not need to root to change your keyboard. And the alternatives are superior. Before you ROOT try some other keyboards, as said SwiftKey.
I know that I don't need to root to change the keyboard, but I need root permissions to install the xposed framework.
I've been using Swiftkey for like 2 or 3 month and apart from the customization features google stock keyboard beats it any day (imo).
As soon as I reverted back to google keyboard it came to me how much I missed it. I don't know why but my writing is way more accurate and the predictions and auto-correction fit my writing much better than the ones in swiftkey.
Is there a way for my friend to try swiftkey before buying it? (as far as I know it's not free, is it?)

ofc there is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey.phone.trial

uh, I am not sure it was not in the tablet version, it's been really long time. I might try later tonight if I do not forget. I thin that time I had the tablet version. is there something with that option?
So I just installed it on my tablet, also can't find it there. Hopefully it's somewhere and I'm just missing it
With my Note 4 I was able to preview the messages sent to me by either viber or SMS. The text would scroll without having to pull down the notification bar. Now all I get is the icon that I have a message. Is there any way to enable the scrolling text again?
Thanks.

Well, depends. If you go to the S7 I guess no. Going from a 5.7 display to a 5.1 is a pretty big difference. Also, the S7E, because of the curved edges, this display also looks smaller to the eye than 5.5 but it's still manageable.
Lastly, if you care about protecting your screen, you have to go the expensive route, with some protection from spigen for example, as cheap screen protectors are crap. (already tried 4 and none sticked to the glass)
Three things you are going to enjoy though are the battery life, which is a huuuuuge plus for me on the S7E. On the Note 4 I had around 2-3 SOT ending my day with around 15-20% left (and thats with a new battery on the Note 4). Now, same usage I end the day with 40-50% battery left. The other thing, is the manual mode of the camera and the focusing speed of it. And finally, the speed. I am not talking about the CPU speed, but the speed of the internal storage. My phone was 2 years old and the nand started to get really slow. Updating the apps took a loooong time. The UFS storage on the S7E though, makes apps install and launch very very fast. Its a difference you will notice immediately. Of course you have the waterproofing, the bottom speaker and some other gimmicks.
Two things I do not like, is that the camera now isnt 16:9 by default, so I have to look at pictures with two black bars at the side and that I have to be a lot more careful with the phone, since even a good case might not protect it that well (I have the spigen armor).

I doubt it buddy because I think that was a feature of KK/LP (which the older devices N4/S5 etc have carried over into MM). Don't take my word for it though. There's probably a third party app somewhere that uses a custom status bar with that feature but most of those non-root apps are horrible!
If you are rooted, trying looking at some Xposed modules, they usually accommodate that kind of feature. I wouldn't be able to recommend you any because I am not rooted, just talking from experience with my old S5
Ah, thanks! That sucks :/ That was very useful. Unfortunately, cannot root cause I don't wanna lose the warranty and resale value. So I'll get used to pulling down the notification panel
