Volume rocker getting stuck - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My volume rocker is getting stuck with normal presses. When I press volume up it will continue to increase volume to max after I depress the button. When I press volume down it will continue to decrease volume to silent after I let go of the button. In both scenarios, when the volume is stuck my phone will not register power button presses. I would clean it but there aren't enough gaps around the rocker to do so. The only solution I have is to push the opposite volume button repeatedly until the other side gets unstuck. Anyone have a fix or should I RMA? I bought at best buy so any info on how to return the device is appreciated.

How long have you had it?

Same thing was happening to mine. I tried blowing some compressed air to break out some small dirt that might be locking it up. Submitted an RMA, got a code sent to make a new one. If your still under warranty, I would recomend sending in the RMA soon, and not let it wait.

How to disable volume side buttons?

I have a mytouch4g (obviously), and my "volume up" will sometime out of the blue go full volume without me even touching it and it will get stuck there. It will keep "dinging" for a while and will stop usually when i shake it or press volume down a few dozen times.
I pried open the volume up button and i broke the top part of the volume buttons (accidentally) but that did not fix it. There is nothing touching the "volume up" side and out of no where it will go full blast while I am jogging or at the gym.
It is very annoying and it hurts my ears. I found a app called "volume locker" that semi-works. Whenever it decides to go full volume up and dosnt stop "dinging" eventually the program kicks in and takes it back to the desired sound volume, but will go right back up and keep dinging until it stops.
Is there anyway to fully disable the volume buttons?
Thanks in advance :good:

volume keeps going to zero

I have an S5 with an official Samsung case and the volume keeps going to zero so i miss calls and texts. At first i though that i was catching the volume keys as i took the phone out of my pocket. I tried altering the volume by pressing the volume keys through the case but it did not work. In fact when you shut the flap of the case it closes the screen of the phone so the volume keys do not work.
I have checked the setting and i can't see anything that would cause this.
Anyone have any ideas??

Volume Key Rattle

To those that have received there phones, does your volume key rattle a little?
Mine feels a little loose and when you tap on the back of the phone it rattle a bit.
I'm getting a very slight rattle from the volume keys when I shake my Nexus 6P very vigorously. The volume key doesn't rattle when I tap the back of the phone.

I've got another couple of issues, the raised bit at the back and some cosmetic marks on the metal frame so its RMA time...
Well at least your volume buttons work, mine rattled at first but now the volume + button is jammed, I can't even boot my phone any more since it thinks I'm trying to boot into some mode.
If your volume keys rattle, then i'd try get a replacement as soon as possible, You don't want your keys jamming after your warranty period is over.
Just got my replacement. The first one had the bump problem. Now this one has a rattle volume key. Will probably rma. Do they have to wait for my return before I can file another rma?
The rattle from my volume rocker was the first thing I noticed when I received my device. I told google and they sent me a new one.
The new one's buttons are much better, but the screen has the pink hue issue like others here are complaining about. I'll see if it goes away in the next week and if not, I'll RMA this one too. ...sigh..

Power/Volume Buttons

How are your power and volume buttons in regards to them being loose or not? Mine are just a little loose. Nothing too major but I'd be lying if I said it didn't bother me just s little.

My power button is fine, the volume was very loose and rattly. This along with the non-flush panel on the back and some cosmetic damage on the frame led me to exchange it. Just waiting for my replacement now.
My power button is fine. The volume button is loose on mine though.
Bothers me too, but the rest of the phone is fine so I'm not going to RMA unless I find something really wrong about it.
Mine do not rattle, but the power button requires little force to be depressed. I have accidentally turned off the screen multiple times. My volume buttons are fine though.
The power button on my 6P is very smooth. No "click" when pressing, just..smooth if you will. The volume rocker makes a distinct click pressing either up or down & takes slightly more pressure to click. And I mean slightly!
No complaints here. That's the way it's supposed to be!
Volume button are fine. Power button..eh... smooth? They seem mushy to me. All buttons should have at least SOME feedback. I'm not even sure I hit it most of the time.

Also yes, I have my power button loose and my volume buttons as well. I exchanged the phone and the new one did not have this problem.
