well my wing has never had any serious problems but about three days ago when i was sending an sms and pressed the W button the volume goes all the way doen to silent but now it goes down to silent without pressing anything at all and prevents me doing anything ive reset the phone to factory mode anyone have any ideas what i can do?
try using anoth rom if anything call tmobile
i dont think changing the rom is gonna fix it and tmobile wants me to pay for another phone because of my warranty which isnt up with them but up with assurion
Does this only happen once or all the time? Mine seems to be stuck scrolling down until a button is pushed - like the down button is being held down each time it powers on.
Edit - It seems that it is the volume button that is causing the issue for me. It seems the up works, but pressing it down tends to do nothing and each time the phone is reset or turned back on the volume will go down and with the sound turned on for each key press you heard it beeping constantly.
Basically, it is as if the top volume button is held down, and the volume is continuously going up on my HD, even when I try to turn it down, it shoots back up again, and is stuck on the volume screen. Sometimes, if I turn it down to silent, it will stay silent for a few seconds, then the volume goes up again and keeps going up.
Really annoying as it means the phone is basically unusable as I'm pretty much always trapped in the volume screen!
Any ideas?
I would suppose that a button is stuck!
Take of the back cover and take a good look at the buttons to see if anything could be wrong!

That's what I thought, but it looks fine to me
I had the same problem as you but I then realize that when I was putting down the volume while in a conversation was my face pressing the screen and increasing again the volume...could it be your same problem?

Nope, because it happens if I don't touch the phone and just leave it on the table
Have you tried a hard reset?
Do a backup first.
Turn off the phone. If you can't pull the battery out.
Hold the volume up + down at the same time then press the power on button for about 1 second. Let go of the power button while keeping the volume up and down still pressed down.
You should see a blue / green / red screen then just follow the instructions on screen.
If this doesn't solve your problem then most likely something is keeping your volume up button depressed internally. Take it back for repair...
The volume slider malfunctioning is a big one on HTC devices known issues. I've had the same problem with my elf....and I've seen plenty that do too. Your best bet would be to take it to an authorized service rep. Sucks I know
Try to remove the cover and use it... the pressing mechanism is on the cover...

Tried that, still the same problem.
I'm going to try a hard reset today, if I still get the problem, going to ask Orange to replace it. I wonder if they'll let me pick another phone, I'm getting a bit fed up with the HD!
I have the same problem, it occurs randomly and I discovered that if I quickly press the power button to stand by the phone and press it again to exit from stand by, the volume bug disappears and phone starts working well again. I thought it was a software bug but I still have it on 1.19. It rarely happens now on 1.13 was more frequent.
Guys, I don't know if this annoys anyone, but it does annoys me.
When in conversation, the screen went blank to prevention hitting any keys accidentally, but when I tried to higher or lower the talking volume, the HTC volume adjusting screen would pop and since my ear would be sticking to the screen, so at the end of the day, I can't adjust the volume without taking the phone off my face and then adjust then tap the power button to turn off the screen and put it back to my face.
does anyone got annoyed by this and could anyone fix this?
thx
I have a mytouch4g (obviously), and my "volume up" will sometime out of the blue go full volume without me even touching it and it will get stuck there. It will keep "dinging" for a while and will stop usually when i shake it or press volume down a few dozen times.
I pried open the volume up button and i broke the top part of the volume buttons (accidentally) but that did not fix it. There is nothing touching the "volume up" side and out of no where it will go full blast while I am jogging or at the gym.
It is very annoying and it hurts my ears. I found a app called "volume locker" that semi-works. Whenever it decides to go full volume up and dosnt stop "dinging" eventually the program kicks in and takes it back to the desired sound volume, but will go right back up and keep dinging until it stops.
Is there anyway to fully disable the volume buttons?
Thanks in advance :good:
I just got a Razr M set up and running as my daily driver, running the excellent BlissPop 3.2. I find that the volume buttons on this phone in a Trident case are quite easy to press, so much of the time when I'm pulling the phone out of my pocket, I hit the volume buttons.
I'm fairly sure that my old DroidX running CM11 disabled the volume keys while the screen is off, though I may check that to be sure. They certainly were not as easy to push.
After quite a bit of searching, I can't find how to disable the volume keys while the screen is off, whether or not the phone is locked. There is a setting to disable the volume keys all the time, but that's not an option. I also found a setting to make the volume keys change tracks while music is playing, but that's no good either.
In fact, if the screen is off but the phone isn't locked, I can press volume up or down, and when I turn the screen on with the power button, the volume pop-up is there.
The only button that should be active while the screen is off is the power button! Does anyone know how to make it work this way?
More info: I just determined that if the phone is locked and the screen is off, the volume keys do nothing. That's good, but I don't want to lock my phone every time I turn the screen off, as it becomes annoying to have to enter the PIN all the time.
This "problem" was solved in the 20150506 version. I upgraded over the weekend and discovered that the volume keys work as I wish now.
