Hello guys,
Recently purchased a nexus 6p. Doesn't it have 2.0 ghz core? Why does CPU spy shows max till 1.5 ghz only? Any ideas?
Sorry if I sound noob.
Thanks
Answered your question in q&a thread
There are 8 CPU cores. 4 run at 2.0, the other 4 at 1.5.

Some apps only show the slower cores. (Slow Cluster)
GHZ
Issue solved! Moderator, I request you to close the thread. It has been noticed that some old apps like cpu spy doesn't show the 2 ghz core, whereas cpu z shows them.
Thanks everyone.

Just wanted to let everyone know about development. I personally wasnt expecting this so soon but the devs are working hard. Just wanted to shed some light on the development section.

Really interesting. Thanks!
it was made by Mr SetCPU himself
guyz one my frnd bought sgs2 recently and today he came to me for overclocking and to root his fone as i hve sgs2 for almost 2 months so after rooting i installed tegrak overclock ultimate and after overclocking that thing i get a feeling of commiting suicide as d results were
max overclock 2.0 f*cking ghz @ 1500mv core and 1200 mv internal voltages
where mine can even think of 1.6 ghz which is unstable mine overclock is
1.5 ghz @ 1275mv core and 1050 internals which is perfectly stable till
so why dis **** is happening and please dont say no 2 cpu's are same one can go while other cant even think of.....
please guyz tell me something

1.6ghz stable
hey I just installed ninphetamine kernel on stock rom, used voltage control to OC to 1.6ghz and UV some frequencies. I am getting 4400+ scores now and 8000+ scores on CF benchmark. not bad?
I don't know weather this is a bug in M-Kernel a38, but occasionally it keeps freezing:
CPU: 1.6 GHz - Performance
GPU: 468 MHz - Unknown Governor
Possible, but you should post this in the M-kernel thread, you could get your answer there. Weather is nice here
Derp, spelling.
Well of course it's going to freeze! You've overclocked it to 1.6 GHz. Not all devices are going to be stable at that frequency. You may be able to improve it by tweaking the voltages a bit.
And I would NOT use the performance governor for purposes other than testing, and especially not permanently. On m-kernel, it sets all four cores to max frequency no matter what. That's a great way to have horrible battery life and a hot device, with excessive processor wear. I don't really see why you would even need to use it.
Start by changing governor to touchdemand, and if that doesn't help, try adjusting voltages.

That observation only provides info about what your individual device is capable of; it provides no information at all about what clock rates another device will begin to fault at.
The fact that the EDP code in the stock kernel downclocks from 1.3 to 1.2 GHz when more than one of the G-cluster cores comes online is evidence that Nvidia observed some small fraction of Tegra30 devices that can barely operate safely with a single core running at 1.3 GHz. Otherwise, what would the point of that EDP code be - to willfully make their devices less competitive against other SoCs?
Running the performance rate governor for anything but short benchmarks is like trying to purposely shorten the operating lifetime of both the mobo and the battery.
I tried M-Kernel last week, and it constantly crashed when it was doing something.
Such as browsing Chrome/Youtube/Gmail.
M-Kernel just doesn't seem stable atm. Not only the crashes but also reboots with M-Kernel.
Before anyone says, I didn't overclock/undervolt anything, so its the kernel in general.
Went back to Faux kernel and not had a single crash.

The problem was not m-kernel. It's m-kernel in your configuration. I'm in that thread daily and flash every rev including the alphas. Are there are no reports of problems like this. The act of flashing Faux is probably what fixed your problem. Did you flash a ROM/GAPPS? All those apps you reported crashing are Google apps.

I checked my cpu state in cpu z and I see that only core 1 and 2 are active. Core 3 and 4 are stopped. Nexus is quadcore so.why those cores are not working? Whatis the meaning of using 2 cores only when you have a quadcore installed in? I checked in some other applications too and it is.the same. It seeams that 2 cores are never used. How can I activate it? I am on miui 3.9.20 kernel franco 165 and android 4.2.2. Cpu overclocking works well.

Two words: custom kernel
If you do something intensive with your phone, it will use all cores. Why would you need 4 cores for UI anyway, Franco did a great job with his kernel.

If all your 4 cores were running even when doing nothing or just texting etc, your battery would be dead in a short time.
It activates all cores when playing games etc but stops cores when you don't need it to save battery.

Simple before you flash stuff read up on it to see exactly what it does. Also trickster or Faux app can help. You just cant flash things and then wonder why stuff changed.... LOL

I realize this is a very old thread but I'm having this very same issue on my Nexus 6. I checked both with Stock Android and LineageOS, both have 2 cores at random stop which makes the phone laggy. In both cases with full battery and me starting apps that require 4 cores. Restarting the phone will bring all 4 cores back.
Hi. It has been 2 years (if I am not mistaken) since Note 3 came out. I haven't seen any app or editors that can do such thing in the title. I am using Note 3 SM-N9005 LTE Lollipop Rooted with TWRP, custom kernel (AEL 2.88GHz oc). I just want to OC my GPU from 450 MHz to 550 MHz like the Note 4. I tried customizing the gpuclk and max_gpuclk from system file from 45000000 to echo 55000000 but still no luck because it will revert back to default clock. Please help and suggest any way but I don't want to buy a new phone.

does it make sense to overclock the gpu to 550?what is to slow that you want to do that;the stock note 3 works properly as it is..so what?Use it!
sry for bad engl....
best regards:angel:
I think you will end up killing it if you overclock that high. It is not the same chipset as the Note 4 (which uses adreno 420- can be clocked to 600).
Not to mention you won't really see a difference other than heat-up and burn issue lol (or maybe you're really an Apple user trying to fudge things up lol).
My understanding is you need a rom that has overclocking features (rom+kernel). Can try this one:

Sorry for this because I am new and I don't know much about oc. I saw a kernel (dont remember its name) with a gpu overclocked to 587 MHz. It is for lollipop but the download link is down. Thanks for the ROM one. The purpose of me overclocking my gpu is that my game (Infinite flight simulator) lagging when I connect to multiplayer and it is same to World of Tanks Blitz. Thanks again for helping.
(P.S : My CPU overclocked to 2.88 GHz)

Hi,
It's passing around one year from the last post; however, I am wondering if you have manged to overclock adreno 330? Mine also lags a little in WOT which I think a small overclock would be beneficial.
Also since I use snote I am not interested in changing to a custom rom. Is it possible to overclock by just rooting?
Thanks

All Of Huawei P8 Lite Users want to know why we see only 4 cores online! And now I am going to answer your question! In The screenshot you can see 0-3 core have 7 files and other 4-7 have only 6 files! So.. Now What file is missing? Cpu Freq file which cannot be written in to system! But We have that cores online, only thing is that they don't have Governor and Frequency Like Mix and max they always stay at 1,2 GHz they can be turned off, just edit the file, and done!
Thanks again! I do Best For You! Hope This will answer all future Questions!
