So my problem is low call vol on the ear peace and speaker phone. You tube vids are nice and loud tho so no issues there. running pure nexus 6.0.1-20160109.
tried to lower the incall vol in a call but it wont go any lower and it wont go any louder. Issues is just with voice calls media and what not is all fine. Was a fresh install did a full wipe and factory reset. Anyone know what can fix this? Been looking but nothing so far just stuff about increasing it for headphones.
Because I am 65 and very hard of hearing, talking on a cell phone has always been difficult. I learned about an app called "Earpiece" (in the playstore) from posts on boards for the hearing impaired. It works great for me. They recommend no more than a 40% boost. I started there and ended up going down to 30%. The volume and clarity is such that I can now consider giving up my land line.

Heyo!
I was talking on my phone today, at which point the volume on the earpiece dropped to almost nothing. Now, it is so quiet that I can barely hear it on max volume.
I've tried safe mode, factory wipe, and even restalling the latest update.zip.
I"m beginning to think it is hardware.
Any ideas?
(speaker phone works, ear buds work, etc)
same here...
I dunno what's the prob @ all...but I'm always using the earfones....one day it sounnds so low its irritatin. But then next day its perfect....I downloaded an app called volume control....then it has options of speaker, headset or earphone....click earphone n raise all the sound bars up ...one is caalled voice. Make sure its @ max....sounds better...but I also called tmobile and they will send me another earphone set....if u complain a lil bit n say sumthin like att wouldn't do this. Lol. U mite get lucky...I did...ps. I had a girl as the cust. Service rep...I kinda flirted also. Its worth a shot. Imm also getting a free battery. Lol
I just got it and noticed the earpiece volume is still low even with the volume turned all the way up.
Is there a setting I missed or maybe a registry fix?
Any help would be appreciated

Don't mean to offend you. I had the same issue but was more of a user issue. I kept increasing the volume not paying attention that I was adjusting the ring volume and not the system volume.
if that doesnt work you may need to return it. My friends HD2 had low speaker volume and low earpiece volume. As much as we tried, we couldn't get it to go.
N1M1TZ - No offense taken, I only adjusted the volume during a call and at max it is still quiet.
I checked the settings/sounds, no adjustment for the earpiece just the ringer and the system sounds.
marduk79 - after doing a little digging I have found that this is a common problem with this particular batch of phones.
The first batch came out and the volume was set way to high that it was actually blowing out the earpiece.
I think I may have found a solution, if it works I will post it.
Thanks for the assist.
So what is the solution... My first one had sweet loud ear piece volume. But alas, the speaker blew. My replacement is alright, but I want it to be a tad bit higher... Lots of years of loud punk rock have made me slightly def I think...
Anyone know if there is a cab or registry tweak or something that will make the volume louder in the ear piece speaker?

How low? Like so low you couldn't hear it, or just low enough to be annoying? Basically my first HD2 was nice and loud. The new one is about 3 bars lower sounding turned all the way up... Which annoys me because I know the other one was louder and it's hard to hear people if I'm in an environment with a lot of background noise.
I feel like if I tried to take it in to get a replacement they would think I was nuts.
headphone and phone speaker too low
I too beleive the headphone volume is way too low, when listening to music or taking a call on the headphones it is barely loud enough too hear if there is any background noise such as traffic or conversations going on nearby. I have the volume about 75% when listening to talk radio stations, on my headset, no background noise present and it is at normal listening level. So if there is background noise, I need 100% for it to be loud enough to hear clearly. The phone speaker is not much better, when listening to calls on speakerphone the percentages are about the same for equvilent listening circumstances. I have tried "AudioPara3 TMO" and notice little or no difference in sound. Does anyone know of anything that will increase the maximum volume level for both speakerphone and headphones?
I'd like to know if there is any registry hack to increase the line out volume as well. My line out volume is very low, I have to put it to about 50 percent to match what would be the 20-30 percent level of my old HTC Touch (Touch 1 to HD2 - quite an upgrade, eh?? )
I just received a used Nexus One I purchased and the call volume is insanely low. Of course I was unable to try it out before buying but got a great deal on it. Maybe this is why. I was just wondering what I could do, are there any hacks to increase volume, or should I check on warranty status maybe. It is so low, if there is any background noise I can't hear the other person at all. I work in a construction trade so volume isn't something I can sacrifice. Thanks for your input.

flash a kernel with the audio hack. if you ask me, the stock call volume is horrible.
I thought this at first too, but I realized I was positioning the phone way too high on my head. The speaker is a the very top edge of the phone, try moving the phone up and down your ear during a call to find the correct spot.
I am on the latest Trigger (Rom) and have had the same problem since build 12.
Basically my in-call volume (only while in call) has these massive jumps when adjusting the volume.
It sounds the like the following (highest to lowest) while using headset.
- Too low, too low, too low, Loud, Too loud, Ear Shattering +
The red flag, since build 12 was a crackling sound is heard where the headphones are inserted.
I have tried different Roms and this is where I am most happy. I posted in the the forum section with no real luck.
I tried the paid version of Voodoo sound and it adjusted the music volume but it seemed no changes were made to in call sound.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The only thing I can think of is if you are holding the volume button then it will fly to min or max. Try single pressing the volume up or down. Just a thought.
Yeah, I noticed the same problem today while on the phone. Didn't really think too much of it, but its def a rom problem if you are also having the issue on redux.

Does anyone else have a problem with the call volume? I'm aware that there is speaker mode, but I can't use it all the time as I don't want people listening in on my conversation. The volume is barely enough for me to hear.
Might be defective earpiece as mine is very loud and can even be heard a few feet away. Try adjusting the volume while in a call and watch the volume slider go all the way up or down to confirm volume change.
I agree you might have a defective unit. I'm quite deaf, wear hearing aids but prefer to have phone conversations without. My volume is quite satisfactory and I give Sammy props for doing it right this time.
