Android Pay stopped working (Systemless Root) - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone else having an issue with Android Pay. I am rooted (systemless) and finally decided to add a card to Android Pay. I've been able to get into Android Pay and tap the plus button to add the card just to test that it would work. I'm just now getting around to setting it up now. This time however tapping the plus button, I get the error message when you are rooted the traditional way. I didn't install any new apps that weren't directly from the Play store or that use root in any way.
I checked and noticed Android Pay was updated though. I went ahead and rebooted and was now able to add a card. But in the middle of adding another card I got the same error message. I dismissed it and was able to add another card. For some reason I could not add my Bank of America Visa though. So I haven't used it yet at a terminal. Anybody seen this issue?

Ugh. I was going to post that I hadn't seen this before, but before doing so I removed my discover card from AP and tried to add it again - got that dang error message you're referring to. Then rebooted my phone and tried to re-add it, and this time got further to where it says "contacting your bank" before again failing. Ugh Google why! Might try side loading the old version of AP see if that makes a difference.
EDIT: Very, very odd. I rolled back to the previous 1.1.1 version and tried adding the card again. The first time it failed instantly, but the 2nd time I tried (immediately after) it went through fine.
EDIT2: Just tried adding a completely different card after RE-updating to the latest version and it added perfectly fine right away the first time I tried. No idea what's going on here.
I might try going to a terminal later today to see if it works with the cards I already have added and I want that free Chromecast

I can't seem to add any more cards. They both say failed to verify info.

I was able to use Android Pay at the grocery store today. I still haven't been able to add any other cards thoug, even though I've waited 24 hours since adding the last two.

Decided to root today for the first time on this phone and I am also having this issue, so I went back to stock. I am on MMB29P. I had installed twrp, then flashed the systemless root version 2.66. Root was working fine, but the safteynet checker failed and I tried adding a card and got the Android Pay error. I have not tried the old method of installing the modified boot / SU... I just let 2.66 patch the boot image for me. I really just wanted to use Adaway too.
Edit: I guess adaway modifies the system partition, so that is probably why this wasn't working for me. Since that was the main reason for me to root, guess I'm staying on stock.

Read this thread on systemless root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/themes-apps/systemless-root-themed-apps-t3292105
If it were me though I would just flash the /unSU zip, then flash SuperSU 2.61 http://download.chainfire.eu/746/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.61-20151207213702.zip . Then AP should just work without having to run any terminal commands. I've done it this way numerous times and it worked every time.
As for Adaway, if you flash the systemless hosts zip before installing Adaway AP will be unaffected.
Adaway thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190753
systemless hosts download https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982087016285
I only ever add one card though.
And I don't have busybox installed (although I did install it previously and AP worked without issue)

So I can't add my Bank of America card because it can't verify my system, but I can still use android pay with the card I already have added. Not sure what to do at this point. Also want to point out the safety net app passes.

[Q] Nook Touch + Market Stopped working

So i have a Nook Simple Touch I was using about 9 months ago, which fell to disuse for a bit for a variety of reasons. It's running 1.1.0, and is rooted.
I dusted it off to recently give it some more use again, and wanted to update some of the apps, but discovered that the Market doesn't seem to work anymore - I know it used to, but now, whenever I try to download anything, I get a dialog: "Download Errror: Download was unsuccessful, please try again." I've waited an extra day, as I remember that was originally necessary to complete the registration process, but still nothing. Searching (with Market Search) works, even for things I haven't looked up before, and it still recognizes my account, as I see my email, though I noticed that the Nook Touch doesn't get listed in the Google Play Store under devices.
Any ideas what might be going wrong here, or things to try? I'm also willing to upgrade to a newer firmware (1.2.1), but am not sure of the best method to update a rooted device. I can pull it into a separate post, but I'll include it here for now:
I'm sure I'l have to root again, but Is it possible to upgrade the rooted device and then simply re-root, or will I lose everything I've installed? Is it just better to wipe, update and re-root? If so, is there any convenient way to keep all of my settings?
Thanks!

Sad, no one wants to reply. Or perhaps no one knows.
Did a backup, and experimented. I couldn't update directly, so I wiped back to a stock ROM, and upgraded to 1.2.1. Rooted with ManualNooter, and the market worked. So I have no idea what was going on, but it works now. Sadly, a computer accident made me lose my backups (including unrooted images). But at least I've got something functional.
I am currently in the same boat with my NST (BNRV300) running rooted 1.1.2. I last installed and/or updated some Market apps successfully perhaps about a year ago, and have not made any other change to the Nook, so I am at a lost as to what might be the cause. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
For now, my workaround this problem is to download the desired app's apk file from an alternate source (e.g., APKPure) then side-load it onto the NST.
My guess would be that somehow your authtication with Google has been lost on the device.
If you go to the PlayStore on a computer do you see your NST listed as a device, and if so, when you select an app that way does it eventually appear on your NST?

I think you are right -- my NST credential with the Playstore must have expired or more likely become invalid when I changed my password on my Gmail account.
If so I can't figure out how to re-validate the credential: I recall entering my Google login/password via the YouTube app during the course of rooting my NST using the MinimalTouch tool's 2-phase process, but now I can't even get the YouTube app to start (error message: ... problem starting up, please check your network connection and system time).
Look here
I responded to a related issue awhile back. Not sure if the info at the link might kick-start the signing in process.
Thanks for the pointer.
I decided to go the route of "factory reset, upgrade to 1.2.1 and re-root using Nook Manager", as simply re-rooting 1.1.2 using the old tool (Minimal Touch) is tedious & somewhat error-prone -- plus I'd like to try out 1.2.1.
That was what I would usually suggest but the farther I have gotten from that "day 1", the less likely I am to take/offer the same advice. I've made so many modifications at this point I don't think I'd ever get it back to its present state! Back up early and often...and, apparently, access the Market every so often, even if you don't want anything.
Good luck!

[Q] Tablet Tab 4 ...no google play store, etc. after unrooting??

Anyways I had the great idea of rooting my newly purchased TAB 4. I too used Odin 3. I loved the fact that I was successful at gaining root without data or app loss,. though slowly I began to see pop-ups pertaining to apps on my sd card. After awhile, I was seeing more pop ups on my screen for apps that began to stop working. Most importantly Google Play store. I panicked and decided to unroot without backing up. After that, I tried to factory restart. Being that I was no longer rooted, I figured it was safe to restart from scratch. What was I thinking? It all started over again, only this time with the out of the box look. Honestly I have only done the whole root process a couple of times and from what I understood it seemed to be fairly easy according to the process explained to me. All was well until I couldn't gain access to my apps. or for that matter download new ones. Is my Tablet dead or is there a possible answer? Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do?
Thanks

Search in Google for gapps. Pick the right one for your android version ex kitkat 4.2.2. Your gonna need to flash a custom recovery like twrp to flash the gapps zip on your tab 4. What tab 4 model do you have?
Forget gapps. I was recently having this problem in which my google play stopped over and over again. I saw everywhere that this problem occurs because of host file, they said that erase the file on system/etc/hosts but it doesntdoesnt work for me.
All you have to do is (which i found out very consequently) to carry google play to sd card and then to carry again to system file. Of course first you have to root again to carry google play (system application) to sd card aand then again to system file by root explorer.
Hope this will useful for you.

Pokemon Go on latest Oreo with ElementalX?

Has anyone gotten latest version of PoGo working on latest Oreo with ElementalX? I've never played but my friends keep asking me to join so I figured what the heck..
Slight problem... Device Not Compatible??
I had magisk and xposed, but I tried disabling, and even fully uninstalling xposed (and all additional xposed modules), and adding PoGo to the MagiskHide options, with no luck.
It still says that my device is not compatible...I would assume that's due to the rooting?
Or is it because I'm using ElementalX kernel?
I read somewhere that there's a (not pokemon go-specific) bypass sort of thing involving SatefyNet, but you have to install Magisk *before* going through initial phone setup, but any guide I've ever read about flashing/rooting ph-1 says to go through setup and then install magisk. I tried to find the post that talks about it but I can't find it right now. Anyway, I would imagine there's some kind of checksum against system and if magisk has been added after the fact, the checksum wont match? I really have no idea, just a guess.
I haven't seen any other posts specifically mentioning Essential being incompatible, so maybe it's just me.
I was originally thinking it was because of root or magisk remnants(?), but maybe it's the non-stock kernel.
If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it.
I feel silly asking such a noob question, I've just never play PoGo...or any Pokemon...ever.
extra info:
I have successfully created an account using their google auth option.
I get through the first Professor Willow part, then character selection.
Usually part way through character selection, I get the error in the attached image.
Its not on any one specific section, however, it can/has occur at any point during the loading.
I've cleared cache and data a hundred times because it seems to get further each time if I do a fresh data wipe and start over -- I know the next step already so I can get through faster maybe lol
--update--
I finally got through character selection and made it to the first chance to catch pokemon. I hit a squirtle and it was trying to break free, and then that error popped up.
Haven't been able to get back in far enough again to see if it actually added to my PokeDex or not.
Sorry for the late reply, but you have to hide root detection under magisk.
For Pokemon go to work, go to Magisk > MagiskHide > then search for Pokemon go and select it then reboot.

S6 SM-G920P BoostMobile G920PVPU3BOL1 5.1.1 STOCK Root XposedFW Viper4A 2020

Stock out of box Samsung Galaxy S6 From Boost Mobile.
Disclaimer >>>Might Work With the Sprint S6, since Boost is just the prepay of Sprint, the same phone I think...
First to say this is a rare find (2015 Release) but if you can get your hands on this awesome handset it has, 8Cores, 32Gb of Memory, 16mp.Cam, and as far as i know the Last Samsung Galaxy With the iR Blaster. So I take No-Responsibility to any Malfunctions or Broken Devices. Personally Had Little to Zero Problems Achieving this I would say This is the Best, Most stable Rooted Device i'v ever owned.
Im Posting here expecting that everyone knows what ROOT, TWRP, CWM, SuperSU is, Developer Mode/How to activate, how to reboot to recovery/Download Mode, Flash via Odin, and use TWRP.
I'll try to put this whole thing in chronological order. so out of box... or anyone who can restore their device back to this build BOL1It Works Flawlessly, Very-Fast/ResponsiveSystem Wide Equalizer>V4A-starts on boot, Xposed FW, Xprivacy, Lightning Wall, and The Google PlayStore still works.
Take Phone out of box [UNACTIVATED/NOSIM/AIRPLANE] LoL... Turn on at home alone... DO NOT CONNECT TO WiFi/DATA it will force update BOL1. Dont sign in google Acc. or Samsung Acc. SET UP http://wakasoftware.com/app-freezer-setup/ Once Completed With Freezer App Set up Reboot and Freeze The following Apk.'s
Search (Update) in Freezer app. You should find [com.sec.android.fotaclient, com.wssyncmldm, com.sec.fwservice, com.sprint.ce.updater, and [NOT100%ON com.policydm] Disable them. Next search sprint in Freezer; Disable every apk. listed under sprint search [com.sprint.zone, com.sprint.psdg.sw, com.samsung.sprint.chameleon, com.sprint.w.installer, com.sprint.ce.updater, com.sprint.w.prefact, com.sprint.dsa, com.samsung.sprint.setupwizard, and com.sprint.voicemail]
You can probably leave voicemail enabled boost has theirs installed anyways. Not sure if sprint-Vmail works or not. Go ahead and freeze any bloat ware or apps you don't want. Disable at own risk. If something messes anything up, reboot to recovery, factory reset, then start over lol
THIS WILL TRIP KNOX
Alright now go developer options and turn on OEM unlocking (allow the Bootloader to be unlocked) Now im going to thank (spammy l) XDA Member for this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...ainfire-autoroot-stock-custom-kernel-t3294308
Follow That Root Method-Just USE THE LATEST SuperSU & TWRP instead. Im on [SU 2.82-SR3] & [twrp-3.3.1-0-zerofltespr] Once obtained Root, an have installed TWRP&BUSYBOX; Create a Custom Recovery backup-TWRP BEFORE you go on to install XposedFW.
You can connect to WiFi/Data, set up google, samsung accounts, and activate wireless services/put SiM Card Back/Disable-airplane-mode now that you have the sprint apps disabled. WARNING if you root this without sprint apps disabled sprint will detect root on the phone and try to force update and continuously restart the phone only 10seconds or so after bootup. I did not know this when i first activated my services. Even after i turned off wifi and pulled the sim card out it was still rebooting only 10seconds after bootup. Giving me only moments to navigate to freezer app and search ''sprint'' and freeze freeze freezze.... so thats why we freeze them first. Also by disabling the sprint Apk. s it Removed the Boost Mobile Boot Animation not sure which one but just FYI just see stock samsung boot.img cool still.
Next have to Thank (wanam Contributor/Developer) For Their Forum( https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960 ) on how to install XposedFW For [5.1/6.0]Lollipop/Marshmallow. Follow That to get Xposed Installed properly. Once flashed it dose take a few minuets to startup, it will boot cycle a couple times, be patient.
Last but my personal favorite piece of software to place in to the system, ViPER4Android-FX 2.5.0.5
My last shout-out goes to (kevintm78 Senior Member) for his method on installing V4A The Proper Way. Here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/themes-apps/how-to-viper4android-install-proper-t3691597) after all that you should make a new custom recovery point to save your work. Thanks to all just wanted to put all that into one place for this specific build of phone.
A Few Apk. s to Mention
--Galaxy Universal Remote Version 4.1.3 out there on the web<<aptoid
--XBooster-Free Version 5.1.2 PlayStore
--Physical Button Music Control Version 4.0 beta6 Xposed Module

Bypass google safetynet?

Im hoping someone can help me or possibly direct me to a youtube video to achieve what im looking to achieve
I struggled with, but finally managed to upgrade my device to stock 7.0, but rooted with magisk. When i tried to install xposed it forced a bootloop, so i restored a backup i had just made prior, and all has been well. I had wanted to install and use "Root cloak" as, at least so far thats been working on my 8.0 device (also Samsung, also stock but rooted but with SU method in that case, i couldnt get SU alone to work on my 7.0, for whatever reason)
I left it alone, but I'm noticing more and more that apps Id like to use come up saying "device is incompatible", which at first i thought it was weird as the play store itself allowed the install... but then upon some basic looking around, it seems that the apps have a way of detecting root, even through "magisk hide" - the feature directly included in magisk manager.
currently when i try to test for safetynet directly in the magisk manager, it doesnt actually properly test at all, no pass or fail, it just said unable
the rather peculiar part is that some of these apps arent all even banking apps, theyre for games. I cant figure out why gaming apps have issues with root access, especially when these apps themselves dont have root access, but thats kind of an aside
Any simplified help anyone can offer would be great! i am slightly familiar with editing the build prop, but i wouldnt know which values to change or even if that method is still effective. i used to use that on a quite older device (captivate glide) to spoof which version of android i was on in order to download app updates (which did work just fine, so why my older version wasnt supported is beyond me, lol)
thank you in advance for any help you can offer!
