Hi everyone,
I am currently running ResurrectionRemix ROM 6.0.1 Marshmallow. However, I'm having a lot of issues with it. As I have said in another topic my apps constantly crash. Also, my phone randomly reboots about 3 times a day. My Google Mapps isn't working very well either.
Therefore, I'm looking for another ROM. I'm pretty much a noob, so I don't really know what my best options are. I see that most ROMs now are for Lollipop, is there a big difference between Marshmallow and Lollipop?
If you guys could share your opinion about the best ROM, and most importantly stable wise, that would be very much appreciated. I don't really need that much options, I just want it to work well and fast. Also, one that doesn't drain my battery in no time would be nice.
Hope to hear from you!
I have not tried many yet but fortunately so far have had good luck with ressurection remix, you might want to try temaseks cm13 rom, as that seemed stable from the limited usage I had with it. But it might help people in giving recommendations if you gave a preference of touchwiz or non touchwiz (although it seems like you prefer stock).
Sorry I couldn't give more help.

Thanks for the reply. I actually found the Audax ROM which I've read a lot of positive things about. There's just one thing I don't understand (and I can't ask in that thread cause I don't have 10 posts yet lol). It says in instructions:
Download Rom and control MD5: (a6031473f6378a58555880af9ca65290)
Do you know what 'control MD5' means? Before this ROM I just flashed ROMs by doing a clean wipe and then just installing the ROM.. Never heard about MD5 before..

MD5 is just an encryption type used in zip files. ROMs and System files will have MD5 codes(provided by uploaders) so that we can verify MD5 of downloaded files with source files. We can find if downloads are corrupt or missing any bit of data
---------- Post added at 09:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:41 PM ----------
And AryaMod ROM is my choice. It has ROM control app with loads of MODs. Also comes with Option to choose Stock or Idle Kernel (Power saving)

I see, thanks. I actually tried to install Audax, but that went not exactly according to plan lol. I installed and got stuck with a message about Aroma Installer. Brainless me accidentely deleted my back-up from my SD-card so there I was with a useless piece of plastic. I am now installing the stock ROM with help from Odin, so if everything goes well it'll work soon again.
Now I'm a bit hesistant with trying a new custom ROM... I don't know why it kept getting stuck with the Aroma Installer message.. :/
You shouldn't overload apps in Aroma. Thats why it gets stuck there at times.
Few users select more apps than the system partition can hold.

Funny, out of all the popular roms here, I am on the resurrection remix rom right now and it is running flawlessly on my Canadian n900w8. Someone mentioned temesak cm 13 but I wouldn't recommend it. I installed it and my phone kept freezing up and rebooting. I would give temesak's cm 12.1 a try.

If you're coming from anything other than Stock ROM, you'll have to flash a Stock ROM, update BL and CP and then flash AryaMod. Else there'll be crashes
I'm on AryaMod. so smooth, no crashes. For me it's perfect. Just one issue: can't type with bluetooth keyboard. I can pair it, but there is no input... Idk why. Still searching for a fix. I don't want to go back to 4.4.4.
I prefer the Unofficial CyanogenMod 13.0 ROM which is stable and runs smoothly on my phone. If you calibrate your battery after flashing a new rom it will last longer.

I recommed you cm11 kitkat!

Hello,
I'm a little late to the Razr M game, but I just got a device off ebay since it's only about a year old and in great shape and quite cheap :good:
In any case, I've so far managed to unlock the radio for Tmobile in the US (GSM), and root it the device. Unfortunately, I didn't know when i bought it about the inability to unlock the bootloader with OTA from May and beyond, which mine is according to fastboot. I believe I came across the actual number being 98.18.78 somewhere.
So I've been doing a lot of reading, got SafeStrap running, made a stock backup, and am testing on slot1. However, I can't seem to get any CM ROM's running! Most of them 'boot' but then all I get is a blank screen, though I can connect with adb and therefore confirm that it does actually run some CM build.
I'm first of all somewhat confused on what ROM i should be using. I've found several links that should seem like they work, but none have succeeded (all have that halfway functionality that only works in ADB):
http://d-h.st/FgU
http://skrilax.droid-developers.org/cm10.1nightly/razrqcom/index.php?device=xt907
http://goo.im/devs/Hashcode/scorpion_mini/cm10.1
http://skrilax.droid-developers.org/cm10.2nightly/razrqcom/index.php?device=xt907
I found these in various threads on XDA and droidrazr.com. I basically read the entire 55 pages of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012093 and since the link in the first page is dead I tried all the links that came up on the thread, which got a couple of the links in my list above.
Also, I did run across the tip that I had to mount system in SafeStrap to get these working, no success. And what's this thing about having to wipe dalvik and system and cache two or three times??
Basically I'd like the proper, up to date link that should be working, along answer to above question and and other tips!
Thanks!!! I love the phone otherwise it's great
UPDATE:
I did manage to get an CyanogenMod spinning forever startup screen with an ancient rom described here http://www.droidviews.com/install-first-aosp-based-unofficial-cm10-rom-on-motorola-droid-razr-m-xt907/ which appears to have come again from the thread mentioned above. The link is now gone but I have the .zip that I must have snagged right before it disappeared!

---------- Post added at 07:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:47 PM ----------
There are others but they are not current.
Well, none of the custom ROMs out now will work with SS. Their are some stock based ROMs, one of which was posted by Avi, that will work with SS. There are some older ROMs that were designed for SS and they were built prior to April (when our bootloader was unlocked). You'll have to dig back a couple of page to find them. I know there was SS compatible CM10 in that link you posted, but I don't think the link is active for it anymore. If you decide to run an older SS compatible ROM on your newer system version, you're going to run into kernel issues. Things like the gallery not working and WiFi signal being weak. Your best bet right now is to load a stock ROM on slot 1 and start tweaking that with XPosed and enabling Init.d so you can get some performance tweaks going.
Thanks for the response, I'll check those out. Glad to find some up to date roms haha

This is something I didn't realize/know before, good to know! That would explain some of the problems. May I ask how you know they don't use stock kernels? Just experience in the development process or is there a way to check?

Root Explorer is all you need.
Thanks for the help and links, I have the deodexed SS version from your link working. I see that it is not a debloated version; is the odexed version debloated?
Also I was originally hoping for a ROM with functionality like Cyanogenmod, but I guess the situation is too specific for that too happen. I might be interested in getting to ROM making/customizing at some point, I did some preliminary reading, I should be able to edit the deoxed SS ROM and then 'stitch it up again' in simplest terms, and it will still work on my device, correct? I feel like editing a ROM would be a great way to learn more about Android/Linux/bootloaders etc before I go to college.

The odexed is DST which means a debloated to the same specs at the Telstra build. The SD swap works on both.

What is the telstra build? Is that the name of the stock motorola ROM that came with the device? Also I'm guessing SD swap is just a way have the phone treat the SD as internal memory?
Also, any idea if it would be possible or how difficult it would be to modify the ROM you linked me to to turn it into a Cyanogenmod port?

Telstra is the Australian firmware, I believe. If you want to port CM, you need to pull from their source. The DST ROM is a stock Moto ROM that's built by the Moto software team. You can't really take that and change it into a CM port, but you can make your own build environment and start building CM.

Telstra is a carrier for the xt905. There are builds posted in our dev section. Any telstra rom is encrypted & if flashed w/ Rsd or Fastboot will brick an xt907.

Alright thanks for the info. I was just doing some reading on the Linux Kernel. Since I am stuck with the stock motorola kernel, but this implements all the things I need to make the upper level, platform independent sys calls and other api's, there shouldn't be a need to build a special kernel for a cyanogenmod port, correct? If i port the higher level things everything that is implemented in cyanogenmod should work... am I getting this right? I'm trying to figure out what the OS kernel requirements are.

I did. Everything worked bar possibly the video recording... but not Netflix (wont load movie)/iPlayer (not synced) and Youtube also has problems with playback. Still looking for a solution.
(Should have added. I have the exact same problem on all Android 5.0 and 5.1 roms I've tried, regardless if they are ports not Note 5/S6 or custom Note 3 stock roms)
For video recording fix, choose Note3 camera when you flash the ROM. The flickering is also resolved in Kernel 1.5 - search the thread for the download link. I'm running DL RC2.1 with DL kernel 1.5 - I don't have any mods installed.
As for the other issues, dirty flash the ROM. If the issues are also on the other ROMs as you said, it's clearly not the ROM issue.

I've tested the camera today on various roms (5.0/5.1) and also using the Note 3 camera. Each one crashes, sometimes rebooting the phone, whenever I try to record video in the camera. Instagram video recording doesn't work either.
I'm pretty new to this and I''m not sure how installing a different kernel might fix/change things? Not sure what a kernel is.

Like I said before, if you have tried different ROMs and the issue persists, it may be a hardware issue with the phone/camera.
The Kernel is the Operating System that runs your phone - it's based on Linux (a type of Operating System). Search for it on the Internet - the link on Wiki gives you a pretty good idea what it is.
How to install the ROM/Kernel is in the First Post of that DardLord Thread. The updated kernel (the current ROM comes with v1.1) is to be installed using custom Recovery.

My baseband is N9005XXUENE3, which Google tells me is a Vodafone Australia one. I'm using the handset in the UK on EE. Not sure what my bootloader is.
I'm currently using OS X so don't have Odin, but I hope to put stock firmware back on it when I get access to Windows. I'm not sure if I should put back on the Australian firmware or put on UK firmware. Do you know if there are any issues with changing countries firmware? Both are N9005 international.
I have flashed multiple times, both official firmwares and custom ones. It also depends on each situation. Your beginning point and your end state will determine whether or not you are successful. In any case, research before you touch the internals of the phone.

I think we are a bit confused. The topic of this thread was around an alternative ROM to our aging Note 3, which Samsung won't provide further upgrades. The alternative ROMs will breathe a new breath of life - which is what DL ROM aims to accomplish.
I can't offer solutions to the ROM related issues or provide any fix schedules, those questions need to be asked on the related threads.

Ah yes. Because the ROM thread is in the Developers section. What I can suggest is to search the thread and perhaps someone has already asked the same question? Or just bookmark the thread and closely monitor the latest activity.
I think the post restriction will be lifted after a user contributes enough to XDA.

No you cant actually turn your note 3 into note 5 but you can install custom roms based on note 5.

Thanks. I only have a Mac so flashing roms can get a bit more tricky. Although yesterday I used my friend's Windows computer and Odin to successfully flash a stock rom. I'm now running the latest UK 5.0 firmware, and no issues. I think now I could probably root it again and use DarkLord N5 rom and possibly wouldn't have the same issues I was having before now that the baseband has been updated, but at the moment I think I'll keep it stock.
Sounds good. To an average user, there aren't a lot of visible changes between 5.0 and 5.1.1 anyway. Unless something you desperately need is missing from stock or you want to be on bleeding edge technology, there is no reason to stress with the custom ROMs
5.1.1. does look a little better, but I'm happy with a fully functioning 5.0. As much as I like the 5.1.1. roms, I'm not keen on the ones that are ports and have features that don't work, or don't work well.

Yep. Used this one myself. It's not really Nougat, though... like all other ROMs for the i8200, this is a modified stock ROM and is still Jellybean 4.2.2, just heavily skinned. That said, it's faster than the stock ROM, offers slightly better battery performance, and is quite stable. Worth looking at.

So, I put together a complete ZIP file with this exact modified stock ROM. I included everything you need to install it.
Disclaimers: this is your phone and I'm not responsible for what you do with it. I've done this process multiple times with tons of different ROMs, and if you follow the instructions from the included text file I authored, it should work perfectly. I'm not responsible for bricked phones, though I did include files to restore from a soft brick.
Also, I did not author this ROM image... it is a modified stock image (like everything else for the i8200) and is not REALLY Nougat or Lineage OS... it's just heavily skinned to look and act like it. That being said, battery life is noticably improved, speed is increased just a bit, and the ROM is stable.
After downloading, extract all files to a directory and then read my instructions... multiple times... make sure you have your mind wrapped around the process before you commit.
Anyway, the file is HUGE (1.25 GB) and the hosting is absolutely free and absolutely middling in download speeds, so give it some time to download... patience and virtues and whatnot. If this file goes without downloads for thirty days, it will self delete from the hosting server, so if you stumble across this thread at some point in the future and the link is dead, message me. I will EVENTUALLY get the PM and I'll update this thread with a new link once I get a chance to upload the file again.
I included the Custom Nougat ROM image, TWRP 2.7.2.0 for the i8200, a SuperSU ZIP file, Odin 3.07 (which I used), a newer Odin for those who prefer it, the needed Samsung driver install file, and a copy of Philz if you prefer that particular recovery. I also included a stock recovery image in case you have a soft brick occur. Also my detailed, step by step instructions in a text file.
Anyhow, here's the link:

thanks for support us and providing roms. I recommended to you to make more nice rom for this gt-i8200N/L/Q.
Orignal firmware is to bad and get problem in battery disconnect in charging.so i use roms which is good and no any problems
Is this rom working in 8200Q?
It should, but I don't have one to verify this.
---------- Post added at 09:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:24 PM ----------
I'd recommend making a backup in TWRP before flashing this. If it doesn't work, just restore your old backup. The hardware across all i8200 phones is virtually identical with the exception of things like NFC and LTE... this ROM appears to support all of that by default, so it should, in theory, work with any i8200 revision. Give it a try and let us know.
Hi guys. I got a galaxy s5 sm-g900t with tmoblie. And basically I think I'm looking for a rom. Browsing around I'm not sure which one to get plus the last time I flashed a rom there was way less info lol. I'll have to freshen up on how to root.
And then there this linage thing. I'm so lost.
What I'm looking for is basically a bare bones that has all the bloat gone and system apps that aren't used. I'd like a dark mode but if I remember correctly that's a package I add?
But ya I'm running umm 6.0.1 and it's suddenly gotten slow and buggy and I haven't done anything so any help is apprieated. Thanks.

Haven't actually found a rom. I was thinking the linage os. 16.x but seems like a high chance of me screwing it up.
Guess I'm basically looking for a bloat free stock rom that's got a speed boost. I've looked bc it seems like that would of been done but I didn't find one? Probably searching wrong.
Atm the biggest issues I'm having is maps, fb lite, camera, Gmail get very slow and none responsive to the point the phone reboots. Mind you I have tried rooting or flashing anything yet. It's still stock.

Don't Worry , you are searching for the wrong thing ,
I have tried so many ROMs one of them is fast and stable,
Search resurrection remix --> Website --> Download -->pie --> klte --> Find The Latest Version ,Go To The Bottom , Now download the one before the last one , that is 400mb , that is our ROM we need to download .
For custom recovery :twrp , root : magisk
Flash twrp tar image in Odin , choose the ap tap , don't touch anything else , or find a tutorial on YouTube on how to flash twrp
That is it ,don't forget to like my post

Make sure you make full backups before flashing custom ROM in twrp , that if anything goes wrong , you can always revert by restoring to your old backup.

MOST IMPORTANTLY IS TO DOWNLOAD GOOGLE APPS (GAPPS) : visit opengapps.org and choose arm and 9(pie) and nano or pico , pico has less gapps and nano have more gapps that are not available in play store .
So you need to flash it in twrp !
Hi I was just given this tablet. It's a galaxy tab 2 10.1. so it's model number is gt-p5113. The android version is 4.2.2 build number jdq29.p5113ueucmk3
It was hardly ever used by the previous owner. When I charged it up and booted it up it was very very laggy. Of couse I did a factory reset fist thing. I went through and disabled all the useless apps on it. And it seems to be better.
I would.like to know if this tablet can be unlocked and install a clean version of Android on it. AOSP is what I would like to do with this. So is that possible? I have been using nexus and pixel for so long it's hard to remember all the stuff involved with doing all this. I would.like to get a newer version of Android on it. It doesn't have to be android 10 just a stable beer version. Is odin still the way to go with samsung? I do have android debug software on my PC so my pc should be good to go just need to install samsung drivers.
The main purpose of this tab is going to be for vision chats. I am moving so I want to be able.to see my nephew.
I. Not a rookie at flashing and modding but it has been a long time so if someone can give me a good place to start and there experienced with this tablet I would greatly appreciate it. If I can't put AOSP on then I will.jist disable as.much as I can and install pixel.launcher and all that and go that route. Just let me know what you pros think I'm open to whatever you guys have to say

thank you for the suggestion. I was able to get 4.4.4 running completely aosp. Very nice and clean build. However I cant figure out root and I can't get anything higher than 4.4.4 going. It installs 6.0 but it won't boot. Most of the links in the galaxy tab form are not valid because this is so old. Is the file system different? How can i get 6 or 7 on this tablet? I can't even find stock files from Samsung to flash with Odin anymore. Do you have any valid linksorfilesfor this device? Or any advice on where to look? And again thank you for your help.

Thank you again I appreciate it. I did wipe everything I even tried to redownload 6.0. The only thing I can think of is I am trying to install from the external sd card. Maybe I should try to put it on the internal sd card. But 4.4.4 works fine from the external card so I don't know. and oddly 4.4.4 only works with the pico gapps all other gapps make it not boot weird right? I have never come across that before. I never really had much luck modding tablets. And its been a long time since I did anything other than pixel/nexus. I am definitely a more pure android fanboy. anyway thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
edit: Ah I feel like an idiot. I was using an older version of twrp i found a newer version thank to you. 6.0 booted with no problems!!!!
