little penguin linux - Zuk Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

when i've rebooted in bootloader, how was the screen?
when i do this i have a little penguin linux logo in the center.
I'm wrong ?

I had the exact same problem, after I rooted my phone with twrp. Not before. Not sure how to fix.

Nothing to fix there. You guys are running the marshmallow or ZUI bootloader, which is perfectly fine.
Cyanogen equipped phones come, by default, with a Cyanogen skinned bootloader which was what you guys most likely had before flashing the updated generic one.
Do not worry though. There is no harm in this.

After using that bootloader I had problems with my Fingerprintreader in cm12.1. So I had to restore the COS bootloader to get that fixed. The solution I have written here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64766614&postcount=5

That's the first time I've heard that but then again I've never moved back after moving to marshmallow.

This makes absolutely no sense. Please explain what you need in proper terms otherwise no one will be able to help you. Also, you might want to read the pinned threads in the general and q&a sections to help you better understand terms and definitions. Good luck.

...I read this post 5 times trying to figure out exactly what you want to do, or even think you can do! Honestly if you don't know anything about rooting then this particular phone will end up as a brick. The bootloader is locked on AT&T S4. No way around it unless you are NOT on MF3 or later... Is your phone actually rooted?? You can't reset the counter anyway.

The bootloader is locked on our phone. You wont be able to downgrade your firmware. What firmware are you current on? I can exlain to you how to get back to stock and rooted with Safestrap and the TWRP version that works for it.

The recovery that works with Safestrap is TWRP. And depending on which firmware you just flashed it will either be version that is specific for that firmware. Do you have Safestrap installed yet?

It should have booted past that screen before waiting the ten minutes. Can you still get in Safestrap? Sometimes you can have a bad download. Try one of the mirrors for the rom link and download again. Or you can try to wipe and flash it again. I had problems with hyperdrive when i tried using it. (Some roms just don't work on some people's phone). Can you try another rom like. Deadly Venom or Google Play? Seems most people have fewer problems getting those installed.

ok so i cant get into TWRP i had it running all night thinking that maybe it will work in the morning but nothing. also i went into stock recovery and wiped all data and partitions but still nothing. i cant figure out hoe to go back a step and put in the right hyperdrive rom. if you can walk me through the process to get back in my phone then send me a link of a hyperdrive rom that actually works that would be awesome. i feel so close but at the same time so far away! lol thanks in advance

Your best option, and proven to work would be to just reflash your current firmware or downgrade back to MK2. Then root it easily with Saferoot. Then Safestrap it, which comes with TWRP recovery. Once that is done you can either restore a backup of the rom... if you have one on the SD card. Or download the rom again for the firmware you are on.
That's what I would do, (have done) when that happened. None of which is very hard to do either. So... what firmware are you on?
---------- Post added at 09:41 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:32 AM ----------
I really wouldn't know how to correctly walk you through with installing Safestrap through ADB because because of the different way it mounts.

Custom-ish ROM (Possible TWRP/ROOT) for J327T1(?)

I have compiled for you an Odin-Flashable downgrade to original Nougat ROM.
Does NOT have Google FRP in this version (the ROM came stock this way; unmodified), this is useful if you forgot your Google email.
Download Odin3 and the .tar file HERE
- Open Odin v3.12.7
- Plug in phone to PC
- Simply boot into download mode (Powered off- Hold HOME+POWER+VOLUME DOWN)
- Click AP
- Select J327T1.tar
- Click Start
Once it finished it will reboot and update. It is going to get stuck on 32%, do not worry.
It will take a second, but the recovery menu will pop up. Select Reboot System and it will take some time to get to the OS but you will eventually have Nougat pop up and ready to go!
Enjoy!
*UPDATE*
In the download links I have the "Factory Binary" Custom ROM. It's pretty useful in messing with the phone software, although I do not know the specific use. Use the same method above to install the ROM.
Also, I do believe you can edit the .tar and add TWRP by downloading the recovery.img from my link and replacing it in the .tar and following the same steps. I have not tested because I was helping my brother access his phone because he forgot his Google account after he reset his phone.

Well idk if it is considered to be custom. Its still the stock rom. But idk he shoulda tested twrp bc if it works then that would be awesome. But idk the bootloader is locked. If anyone has this device and willing to test please do so. I cannot test since this phone is my primary phone that i use on a daily basis.

Good ish' Brad, now hopefully someone will get twrp and I'll cough up the money for another cheap t1
Ok so its not truly the factory binary, its an emulator of that, meaning any changes were not flashed over as in other devices. but i have been thinking and, i'll post this in the original as well, magisk....only works if you completely wipe the device first, same with custom roms, i never tried that when i had the j3, bricks be damned we got odin3 and i got scripts to get outta brick an into download.
if someone would be ao kind as to factory reset and tr installing twrp, that wuld be amazing, i have been working with the note 4 sprint variant and there are a few steps in installng custom roms that we were over looking

Only way I can help you is by telling you go buy yourself a PC if you're going to start routing and or developing the firmware on Android devices it is extremely hard nearly impossible these days with Android devices running version Android 6.0 and up to root without a PC the best and easiest way I've found to root a Android device is to First install a custom recovery like TWR p or ClockworkMod and have a unlocked bootloader then from there you can easily download SuperSU and Flash it with a firmware flashing application like ClockworkMod ROM manager that is downloadable on Play Store what I'm trying to say is if you are using kingroot or kingoroot you're going to be hitting that button 4 million years and nothing will happen either by an Android that has a lower version like any version below 5.0 or get yourself a computer and do some research because it is very easy to do the stuff as long as you know what you're doing if you don't it seems way more complicated than it actually is you're in the right place here on XDA to learn everything you need to know so you're off to a great start I hope this helps have a good one good luck
So is there no way we can downgrade further to a firmware that includes the developer option to oem unlock?... I'm about to try and flash what the op posted right now... I'll post results

TWRP: v3.2.1: Custom Changes to Make it work Much Better: unofficial:

The Current Latest TWRP for the v10 H901, v3.2.1, done by TWRPbuilder, was missing many options and settings,
For the most part it worked, but screen settings was wrong, my device about overheated and I like to have my screen
blink off after 60 secs..
So I took the latest STOCK N source and used the twrpbuilder.jar file to create a device tree from the STOCK Recovery..
edited the device tree to allow everything to work like it should. then built TWRP, tested and works......

If anyone remembers me, I did hold on to my v10 this whole time.. but as I said before, the famous LG Bootloop got my V10, and LG fully Replaced it free of charge and it came back with Nougat, which means No root,
I seen that someone came up with root for it.. so I finally rooted it.. but needed to fix that twrp you all had....
also I sold my HTC10, after doing everything I could over there.. I got tired of HTC, and wanted to give LG another chance.. some say im crazy, but I love challenges..

I never said it wasn't. I was only explaining that LG removed the flashing commands from fastboot (they only left us with the unlock command and a few other non destructive commands (like getvar)), and that you will need to thoroughly read read read the thread I linked and follow the instructions to a T or you will run the risk of bricking your phone. LG really made it easy to brick this phone if you don't know what you are doing. That thread does state that you shouldn't brick, but if you don't get it right you'll have to flash the kdz (which is linked in another thread somewhere) to start over.

Once you have the other twrp installed (https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/general/root-h901-nougat-t3773942) boot to twrp and flash the twrp.img from this thread after you extract it from the .tar. The same way you would upgrade any twrp, so really no instructions needed. You could also substitute this .img in those instructions. Once you've rooted a few different kinds of phones some of these kinds of things will make sense to you and just become second nature. Don't get discouraged, you'll get it.

If your on any firmware above 10c LG only gave us the fastboot unlock command, the fastboot boot and fastboot flash commands have been removed. This has been stated many times and in many threads. It has also been stated before to use the proper threads for asking questions, which is one of the rules of xda.
This thread is for the development of this version of twrp.
Those of us that have been rooting since day 1 understand that every phone is different and rooting evolves with the tighter security from the oems. Many of us started with windows phones here on xda before Android was born, or nokia "smart" phones before that.

Honestly if you have to ask how to install twrp, I wouldn't recommend flashing it at all....
if you been doing this for years, then you would know that how to install it requires ROOT or some special way since this is the T-mo threads meaning H901,
BTW peepz, if you think gaining root for the v10 is a trick in its self, try the G6 way.. talk about risky business there.. by the same person..............
NOTE: that doesnt mean TRY the G6 way on the v10,
anyhow. you can flash twrp through your already made recovery or some app that has root......
I flashed this twrp through the recovery that I get when I used the ROOT method on latest ROM......................
I just didnt like the fact that half the options were missing........... I did do another build.. but I didnt release that yet on here.....
if anyone is still having issues, maybe I should upload the other build for you to try..

I'm not asking how to flash TWRP...I am asking hypothetical questions. Sorry to offend
See?

too bad that we couldnt downgrade to mm. that would be so much easier. lol
I just got hit with the infinite bootloop on my device unfortunately, and modified this twrp image to only use the little cluster: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=818222786056035329 . The cmdline additions are only: maxcpus=4 boot_cpus=0-3. Just in case anyone else wants it
Edit: given the prevalence of this bug, I'd honestly recommend people just keep a 4core twrp flashed on their device for if/when they run into it so it's easier to deal with.

Flash GSI Roms on Razer Phone 2!

While looking around and trying to compile TWRP and getting errors doing so, I have finall come accross a solution as to how to get GSI roms to boot, it seems we needed special flash instructions and im eve gonna test some other things later. But without further do, here are the instructions!
Step 1: Go here and read instructions CAREFULLY! "https://www.xda-developers.com/flash-generic-system-image-project-treble-device/"
Step 2: We need special flash instructions so flash this command. "fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img" (Special flashing instructions here https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...18&postcount=2)
Step 3: if it doesnt work, try again. I am currently booting into Phh-Treble.
Step 4: Rejoice as we can now get away from stock!
Credits where credit is due !
UPDATE: Okay so, pretty sure dm-verify is making it so it doesnt fully boot :/ still working on it.

Will do, rooting is fairly easy. is the att version? or global. i have the att version but flashed the global version stock rom.
I believe its the global version. I don't have att network.

what you want to do is downlaod the stock rom, unzup it to desktop. copy your boot.img to your phone. download magisk manager from the xda thread. install the manager and then patch the boot.img. reboot the phone and you'll see it in your downlads. copy that to your stock rom folder (you'll need adb and fastboot files). run the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and youre rooted. but at this current time root is kinda pointless.
also... be sure to check out the root guide first. forgot you need to unlock bootloader and critical.

I'm kind of a noob in this regard. Can I PM you to get further Details on the rooting?
"but at this current time root is kinda pointless."
Also your right about this. There's currently no effective use for it right now. But there will soon be more in the future for the phone i believe. I think more people are starting to communicate and experiment with the RP2

SM-G950 - Bootloop after TWRP install

Hi,
I reinstalled stock with Odin (rom found via Frija - SM-G950F_1_20200518082254_1xwacu9sv8_fac )
USB debugging ON, OEM unlock ON. everything's fine so far but some apps are bugging me with traces of the previous root so decided to root again and use Magisk hide
Every time I install TWRP (twrp-3.4.0-0-dreamlte.img w/ Odin) the phone goes in a boot loop after format and reboot.... I'm not sure why. (I tried multiple times)
I still have access to download mode and TWRP recovery but the system won't load.
I did the same install 2 days ago with the same method and files but a different rom (HAVOC) and it worked.
Any idea?
Thanks!
I installed Magisk with TWRP and the phone just booted normally... still don't understand what happened and why installing Magisk just fixed it but here's my own answer to the problem in case it could help someone in the same situation.

Hey thanks for your answer, I was flashing opt encrypt, It was already bypassed so that was not needed.
What I was doing wrong is after flashing just wiping and it seems I had to format data for it to work hehe.. :silly: otherwise phone shows as encrypted even it is not..
After formating data it booted right

I have Spain region,
Not sure what you mean about the 7 days wait time.. if you meant to unlock bootloader or/and for the bypass...
What I just did it a long ago with Oreo was bypass the FRP lock but I did not have to flash anything, i had the unlocked toggle OEM from dev. Options, after I rooted, then Pie rolled out and upgraded to Pie versión and rooted normally and I never had any problems..
I dont remember flashing rmm bypass but maybe I done it and I forgot...
What I can assure you is I never had to wait 7 days for anything.. everything was done on the same evening.
Best regards

That is so strange and I never lived it. I've been reading and it seems there is a lot of people like you...
Maybe a new way to prevent flashing and control people's phones..
I flashed Pie trough Odin, then android 10 with lineageOs and then return pie and rooted again.. never had any strange state... I don't know but maybe it affects on different models.. For me I have a g950F Exynos from europe, hope you find early a solution!

I have May. Security patch, not June.. PHE Stock firm from Sammobile, and I am not updating by the time.. xD
I guess you can not flash with Odin and downgrade to Oreo.. you could try.. seems some people use Heimdall to downgrade but I not tried this my own.
But you made me think why I did not get this prenormal state.. maybe cause my knox was already messed up when I upgraded to pie.. but I ignore it I can only wonder.
It seems some people made it work by changuing the date to Jan-Feb 2019 then unlocking Oem and rebooting.. maybe an old method now but if I was you I would try everything xD

I think yes they are on Pie but not sure cause they are videos can not see right ver.
I don't know if I can send YouTube links here but just search on how to bypass kg status (s8 or all models) and there are several videos doing the same steps with the date and seems it works for them...
You already have the No so you don't loose anything on trying that way

If you have both kg and rmm state
Kg state will need to be checking
RMM state will have to show normal or missing
Needs to be in this state to flash non Samsung firmware.
