Moto X Play India version accidentally changed - X Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, I wanted to change my data setting to wcdma(3G) only because my phone keeps on reverting to 2G so I did some research and found an application in playstore called Network . I was going through it and there was this button called Radio band if I'm not mistaken , I pressed it and instead of pressing the back button I chose USA band, now my phone is not able to receive any network, please help me I really need to get my phone working again, if there is any way to revert it back .Please leave some comments . Thank you

I am having same problem. Please reply if you got anything.

instant solution...factory wipe it from recovery.
otherwise you have to do it by dialing *#*#4636#*#* . you have to select wcdma or your preferred network..otherwise easiest way is factory wiping.
edit: after dialing go to phone info then top right corner 3 dots and select radio bands and if USA band is active deactivate it.

Try reverting it back from that same app

No way to revert from same app. I was forced to re flesh official ROM on my device. It's working fine now.

No Mobile Data after flashing latest LeeDroid ROM

I just flashed to the lastest LeeDroid ROM. I love it! However, there is no mobile data. I cannot make or receive calls. The mobile data setting is greyed out, I cannot change anything there.
I've tried searching for similar problems with leeDroid, but I have not found much. Does anyone know how I can fix this??
HTC Inspire 4G on AT&T network.
Full wipe and re-flash, and see if that works.
If not it's possible you have an incompatible radio/ril/rom combination; make sure you use the recommended radio for your rom.
I try to avoid flashing radios as much as possible because if something goes wrong, it will permanently brick - so read all the instructions *very* carefully and only do it if you have to!
I installed that ROM too and lost my data connection. But there is a patch, V5.1.1 that'll correct this problem. Just download and flash it in cwm.

Open the dialpad,
key in : *#*#4636#*#*, as soon as you key in last *, Setting Menu will pops up.
>> Click "Phone Information'
Scroll down.... until you see "Set preferred network type", probably set to "WCDMA preferred".
If you are on GSM network, change to "GSM auto (PRL).
Out from the menu... then see whether mobile signal on...
to make sure, re-boot.
Some rom, even set "WCDMA preferred" as a default, still can connect to GSM network some doesn't.... So manually set as above will be the best way, I think.
Hope can be solved, buddy.
sounds like the radio needs a re-flash, flash the recommended or latest one.
Install Latest update on your Rom
zunaedsaki is cooking
im having the same problem. For whatever reason clockworkmob wont let me flash any ROMS at all. i dont understand what the deal is.
Guys, i had this problem on my I9001 but the solution is very simple...
1. Get an android phone (your dads, sister's or brothers or whoever's) and insert your sim in it then browse to APN settings.
2. Copy down the information.
3. Insert your sim back into your phone.
4. Go to APN settings and manually type all the information
you will get your mobile data working...

Similiar Issue
Here's some steps I went through to investigate this issue. Don't get your hopes up, I don't have a solution.
You can use service mode to lock the phone to LTE and get a better view of what's going on.
Dial *#0011# to get you into service mode. Then you want to go up a menu (there's a bug here). Hit menu>back (nothing will happen), then menu>keyinput then type 1 and hit ok. Select option [1]>[6]>[2] from here you can lock to LTE by hitting [4]>[2] (Telstra run LTE on Band 3 = 1800MHz). Reboot for good measure.
Exit and Dial *#0011#. If your phone works, you're now looking at some low level LTE RF stats. I have 2 GS4's which are showing me strong coverage. If you phone is like my third GS4, it'll say No Service.
I can lock that dodgy one to GSM or WCDMA with no issue.
So, off I go to flash the modem to within an inch of it's life...

Nexus 6p - Set GSM/UMTS Band Problem [Resolved]

Hello everyone. I'm having a problem with my network after going into the test menu (*#*#4636#*#*):crying:. I'm hoping someone can help me out.
My Phone:
I have a stock Nexus 6p not rooted.
The Problem Cause:
After going into the test menu (*#*#4636#*#*). I pressed the menu button (...) and pressed the "Set GSM/UMTS Band" button. My three options were "USA Band", "Band 6" and "Band 7", decided to select "USA Band".
The Problem effect:
Since I did that, I can't make or receive phone calls. My phone won't ring (though it "rings" for the person trying to call me and they get to my voicemail). If I try to call someone else, it hangs perpetually at "dialing".
Soulution I have try:
1-Setting the bands and switch between USA,6,7 but nothing changed.
2-Doing soft/hard factory reset but also nothing changed.
Any ideas how to fix this problem?!

Same problem
I'm having the exact same problem. I couldn't make or receive calls out of the box. When I fiddled with the test menu, I was able to at least get it to where I could place calls but I still cannot receive them. I'm not sure what I did at this point. Verizon support and Huawei support have been useless. I tried to factory reset and that did not help.

What carrier are you with? I did the same thing but I managed to get my phone working again.
why did you mess with these settings if you don't know EXACTLY what you're doing? very big mistake. there some settings you should never fiddle with unless you're dead certain
best best now, imo, if the factory image doesnt fix it... unlock your bootloader and install a ROM that has an expanded set of radio bands... I know some ROMs have it, but not sure which ones.
Yes use Chroma it has more bands to choose from. I think someone needs to create a sticky not to mess with those settings.
I only messed with the settings because I was already not able to make or receive phone calls. Messing with the settings allowed me to at least call out now.

Flash the factory image. That way you know for sure you are as stock as could be. Then if the problem persists exchange the device because its faulty. You shouldn't have to mess with any settings to make calls. Other than maybe a borked APN setting.

Yep! Flashing the Chroma ROM did it! It's all back to normal now. Thank you scoobysnack soooooooooo much for your help!
what I did are;
1. Hard reset
2. Unlock bootloader
3. Install TWRP
4. Root
5. Install custom firmwares
6. Revert back to stock firmware
7. Install different 'radio' images
8. Install different stock firmwares
Unfortunately, none gave me a positive outcome.
Last Hope Was:
I flashed Chroma, a lightweight AOSP ROM focused on battery, performance and stability.

The following link is for Chroma download and installation instruction:

This custom ROM for Huawei Nexus 6P was first recommended by a scoobysnack. It works with a proper selection of bands according to your country.
On the dialer, use this codes *#*#4636#*#*
Selection for different bands would then available.

I'm glad you figured it out. However, If you tried the factory image and it didn't work, that's a problem! You should have had cellular service right out of the box and definitely after you flashed the factory image. Unless you did not actually try the factory image itself. Can you clarify. Because if that's the case you have a defective unit and it will be an issue when you need to actually restore your device some day. Also don't want people to get the idea that a factory image is not a fix for this.

Flashing the factory image does not work. I messed with my phone for 4 hours trying to get of to work again. I was originally on chroma when I screwed my bands up. That's how I knew about the other bands. I believe it only fixes international phones . I'm in the US on VZW and flashed factory image and had to select band 6. So depending on where you are depends on what method you have to use to correct the problem. And yes a sticky and FAQ should be made as a lot of people seen to have this problem.

The images work on either variant. It confuses me why a factory image would not fix it but I'm sure there is a reason. Its new to me though. What's weird is I am on Verizon in the US as well. Works right out of the box for me and any issues that I have come across have been fixed by a factory image. I wonder if people having problems on Verizon are having issues due to network and sim card provisioning issues and by switching bands you are fixing it but you are not on the normal bands maybe. I know some people on Verizon had to call and tell them to activate LTE on their line even though they were supposed to be getting it. And that fixed the no service.

I guess the reason why a factory image did not fix the problem is because my phone version is US not International. And I am now not from US, originally from Middle East. So there is no compatibility between US and the international bands. The only choices I had from the Bands are USA Band, 6 and 7. I am guessing that the International version has more options and compatible with variant bands.
guys. try to install chroma rom , it has several different bands. just to get it working . then return back to stock if you want i had the same issue and i had data working and sms without calls until a guy helped me ( im very grateful for him ). i hope it works. please let me know

[N910S] got it to work! Exynos Korean model, Eng-only custom ROM, no bloatware!

OK, *FIRST TIME POSTER HERE* so please excuse any unintentional ignorance of rules or etiquette.
I'm just super excited to get this phone working the way I like it, and it's all thanks to xda so I was moved to create an account to express my thanks AND hopefully help a few people back.
How? Well after reading through pretty much everything I could find on the N910S here and elsewhere, it seems that no-one (yet?) has been able to confirm a working mod that meets the following:
1. N910S Exynos Korean version
2. Some kind of custom English only ROM that removes the Korean characters from keypad and other network-apps
3. Removed bloatware
4. Easy-to-follow, how-to guide
Seems there were quite a few ppl who wanted the same thing so I just want to let you know what I did to get it working.
*PLEASE NOTE* Everything contained in this summary was found through over a week of tedious reading, research, trial & error. BUT in the end all the necessary information was contained, or linked to, in xda forums. It's just that all the relevant information and files were scattered over many different threads and topics. I'm just collating it all here to hopefully make it easier for the next person to find.
Background info: I'm technically competent but relatively new to phone modding - I've only rooted my HTC E8 before this to remove bloatware. This is my second project. I live in HK and started with a completely stock OEM Note4 N910SKSU2DPK2 after a factory reset. I then did the steps below in order (not including many failed attempts and re-starts, of course) These are just the broadstrokes of what I did, if you need to know how to do each step in detail then please search the forum. It's quite clear and there's no need for me to repeat it here anyway
As it's my first post and I'm in a rush to leave the house soon, I have not bothered with screenshots or links - I'm happy to provide if someone can tell me if the preferred method is link to the thread where the info was found, or you just want a link to the files I used. Again, they were all found through links in threads on xda anyway but I'll have to spend some time to find them again as I didn't bookmark them. Also, if you want the files someone will have to tell me how to upload them here. The filenames/packages are given in [brackets] so maybe you can just search for them?
0. Reminder to backup your phone and data first!
1. Root - was really easy using CF AutoRoot [CF-Auto-Root-trelteskt-trelteskt-smn910s] Just download to your PC and package includes Odin, which for first-timers is the official Samsung software used to flash to your phone.
2. Download:
- ClockWorkMod [n910s-cwm-recovery-6.0.5.1(1113).tar]
- SuperSU [SuperSU-v2.79-201612051815.zip]
- C Mod ROM [C_ROM_N910s.v2HNY.zip] (the site is Korean-based but google translate of the page was enough for a non-Korean like myself)
- N910S DPK2 modem file [N910S-20170114T050808Z.zip] The original thread had links to every modem variant they knew of, so should work with other S/L/K variants BUT of course I haven't tried them.
3. Copy files for SuperSU, CMod ROM, and DPK2 modem onto an external SD card and insert into your phone.
4. Put your phone into Download Mode (from power-off state, hold Vol Down + Home + Power)
5. Run Odin on your PC, connect phone. On Odin, click <AP> and select CWM file. Do not check or modify any other options. Click <Start> to flash CWM recovery to your phone.
6. Once it's done, disconnect from PC, and restart your phone into the new custom recovery mode (from power-off state, hold Vol Up + Home + Power)
7. Choose Install from zip and select the SuperSU file from your ext SD card. (I think this step may not be strictly necessary as it's part of CF AutoRoot, but SuperSU is always handy to have anyway)
8. Reboot into Recovery mode again (available in Advanced menu)
9. Install zip - now choose the CMod ROM file. Reboot into system and have a look around the new UI. It was at this stage that I noticed two things: my HK carrier SIM was not recognised, and as the ROM boasts some Note 5 features the Always On Display function would cause my Note 4 to not be able to wake up once the screen was turned off (manually or via time-out). I had to pull out the battery, restart phone, go straight into Settings -> Display and turn off the Always On Display functionality.
10. To fix the SIM card not recognised, reboot into Recovery Mode again and Install zip - choose the DPK2 modem file (or whichever version your phone's modem is). Restart phone, wait a few minutes and SIM should now work.
*ONE REMAINING ISSUE* Even tho my SIM is 4G/LTE, it seems to be connecting at HSUPA only. Could be reception, I'll check later. But I believe there's a way to select different LTE bands through secret codes or menu, not sure but I'll try that as well later and update if it works.
That's it - hope it helps! Thanks for reading, and don't forget I'm new to this AND a first time poster so be kind in comments/questions please

So by following steps in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/note-4-sm-n910s-sk-telecom-issues-t2929571/page2 for SKT, I was able to change to LTE Band 3 or 7 (which is what my sim provider offers) and get an LTE signal for data, BUT then I lose voice call functionality. If I choose Band 3 Preferred, it says band changed success, but just connects via HSUPA and I get voice, but no LTE (just like before, or if I choose Automatic)
Can anyone please help me figure this out? How can I get voice AND LTE? Many thanks in advance!
PS - also after I reflashed my modem.bin the baseband changed from N910SKSU2DPK2 to N910SKSU0DPK2. I don't know what this means nor if it has anything to do with the problem I've described above? Can anyone help to explain? Thanks...

Band 3 and 7 are supposed to stick with default settings. I tried it once during my trip to Malaysia and it worked flawlessly. Any chance you might want to contact your carrier?

Have you tried switching to 3g only, then switching it back to 4g when available in your phone setting??
I had similar issue with 4g and apparently, this strangely simple trick solved my problem.
Anyway, I tried to download the ROM from the Achonapp but took me ages and I couldn't flash it either. May I know where you got the ROM from?

Tried your suggestion but now it shows No Service
*update* actually I think your "trick" works... After switching to 3G only, it wouldn't switch back to 4G and showed No Service. I rebooted the phone with a different sim and after a few minutes, it automatically connected to 4G AND I now have voice as well! So, all is working properly now and I'm a happy camper. Reboot with the original sim and still works and connects to 4G. So I think you're right it just needed to be "forced" to select 4G preferred. Thanks for the tip!
Yeah I got it from achonapp as well and it took a while - I think I left it going overnight. But the ROM did work for me. If anyone wants the file direct I'm happy to put it up on my google drive if it's not against forum rules etc.
But since then I've switched to miui8 which is also working pretty much flawlessly as daily ROM, but I haven't tested every single little feature of course. If you wanna try it - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70596588&postcount=797

changing the network type on Nougat

Hi all.
I have the A2017. Before Nougat came out, I was using the US firmware (B29).
I was able to change to network type to LTE only using the service menu (*#*#4636#*#*).
Since 7.1.1 came, I began using the Original, Chinese ROM (currently using 7.1.1 B12).
I still have the same service menu, but the phone doesn't respond to any setting I set for the network type. Only when changing in the Dual Sim settings menu it does respond to my settings, but there is no LTE only setting there.
Can someone who uses the US B19 please check if it works for them? If it does, I will try to flash the US ROM.
Thanks.
Changes in that menu only apply to sim 1. If you're trying to edit sim2, then no go. Still works here (for sim1) on a2017u.

So you're using B19? Then I should too. Because I only have one sim, and it doesn't work for me at all.
I hope it's only related to the ROM and not to the modem, as I do have to keep the Chinese modem anyway.
I'm not sure how that menu works on a 2017G. You could try the app from the play store Network Signal Guru. There's an option in there call change RAT settings. That allows you to change network modes too. It does require root.
