Why does it take so long to get a flawless working TWRP or CWM for our Honor7?
TWRP 2.8.6 will be available in cn. version.
TWRP 2.8.7 EN exists, but crashes the original recovery.img as i know.
CWM i can’t find!
How long we have to wait?

There is TWRP and root for 5.0.x, 5.1.x, 6.x and there is a multi-tool out for the H7 as well.
There are at least 6 active threads on TWRP and root on this sub forum.
There is also the first custom kernel, a pre-requisite for custom roms.
Less b..... and more reading could be a good advise.

you need a little experiance and knowledge to do this.....
otherwise you can bricke your device
bricke = damaged, dead, no funktion any more, only use as a hammer or a brick in a wall....

used to have a HTC bravo, some knowledge available. Flashing the HTC only required root and a custom recovery. The ROMs came as a zip file which could be flashed via the recovery. Is the procedure similar and we just have to be patient until a zip file is created?

Hey guys,
Meticulus stopped working on CM, I'm using the rom as my daily driver and loved every update or fix, so sad and a big loss for every CM lover...
My question is, is there a developer who goes on with the rom or does the development really stops?
And does anyone know a solution for the bluetooth pair bug? Thanks!

Mod Edit
I followed the cyanogenmood thread all the time and I don't think that anyone made demands to meticulus. Also I don't think that people were ungrateful (what meticulus claims). For example I am a student and though I spend some money to get a device for meticulus. I did not expect from him that he must develop the rom but I expected from him honest work and not to stop developping out of not understandable reasons..
Afterall, @Meticulus had gone way too far out of its development. We can still thank him for bringing us that development and also to sponsors.. hope other dev will come and continue the support so that the progress will continue..

This is a real real surprise. Great gesture from Yota to bring a new OS to a relatively old phone especially after halting the production and sales of the phone itself.
I requested an specific forum extension for users (like me) who also have the Huawei Mate SE version in the US. In the meantime, we can use this thread to discuss specifics for this version.
Another Mate SE user posted this in the Oreo Beta thread. It seems there will be a also a FUT trial beta for Mate SE.
mobstaj said:
I had signed up for the 7x beta and then traded it in on a Mate SE for the extra ram and storage. Very happy that I did, camera seems to load consistently faster.
Anyway, I emailed the FUT testing team to inquire about the Mate SE and this is the response I got back:
"Last time we checked the Mate SE will have the FUT trial right after this model. But, yes. We can add you in the test if you did not get to participate in this model."
I emailed them back to see if I might be able to get a more specific time frame and information about how to sign up for that test. I'll let you know if they reply.

Thanks guys. I was wondering since the B101 build is "old" for some of the 7x's. I did notice though that the security patch is current as of Jan 2018.
Would be interesting to find out why in the US the 7x with 4gb/64gb is called the Mate SE, and in rest of world it is a version of the 7x. Seems like a weird marketing strategy. And the Honor guy on this forum can't/won't answer questions about the SE. You'd think that the Huawai/Honor staffing would be combined in the US.
Just wish we had some idea of when we might get a beta of Oreo.

In case you are wondering about rooting your Mate SE, someone already confirmed the same process for the international Honor 7x works with the Mate SE.

Hello friends, I am not a computer technician, I do not have official courses, but I am self-taught.
I've done rom`s from the beginning for several smartphones and the rom`s that I use in my phone, are changes of other that I encounter on websites mainly here in XDA (but never distributed just self use).
Since I have a good PC and a VNS-l31 smartphone and I do not see development in relation to Oreo and Treble, please i ask if there is someone who knows how to upgrade from one version to another (nougat to oreo or among others) and the necessary tools (whatever software neded to compiled extract and check) to do it, I will try to do my best and if i have alpha level results, I publish.
Thanks to all who can help me, because it will not only be for me, but for all users of this smartphone. Thank you.

You are right, but it is for AOSP lovers (where many bugs remain, such as GPS or Bluetooth)
Ultimately, it cannot be bad to have more than 1 maintainer for Oreo ROMs
