Just today I started receiving facebook notifications on the top notification bar but I have never signed into facebook from the phone. I also checked the website and all of my notifications are turned off. I only get them when someone sends me a message and when I drag the bar down and click on it nothing happens. It is becoming really annoying so I would greatly appreciate any help.
If its popping under notifications then it would be because of a facebook app that u must of signed into at one point in time and to shut off notifications go into the face book app when the app loads push back sp yr at the screen of fifteenth options then just click the button next to the home button to bring up setting witch u can fix in there or just easily sign out

I have never signed into the Facebook app on the phone. In fact, I just did a factory reset after I had to SBF back to froyo to install the pre-rooted gingerbread. I even tried deleting the facebook app and still got the notifications. It shows up like an email notification, but with the email when you click on it it opens the email. With this notification, if you click on it, it just goes away but nothing else happens.
Then I have no clue of how to help u but if u don't have anything installed on ur phone yet u could all ways try to do another factory reset

I never said I didn't have anything on my phone; I did a factory reset a week ago and since then I have installed alot of the apps/games I had prior. Facebook was one of the apps I installed, but I never signed in. Never before today have I received these notifications. I didn't think it was the facebook app since I never signed in, but I deleted it anyway and still got the notification. This would lead me to believe it is not linked to the actual facebook app itself. Within the past day, I have done anything that would lead me to believe it was behind these notifications.
Did you add a Facebook account through Blur? That is another possibility as the built in account system sends you notifications for some things, including messages.

Yes, but the reason I didn't think it was that is because the notifications just began yesterday and I have received messages prior to that with no notification. Do you know where I can get to the settings for that? When I go into "My Accounts" and click on Facebook it only gives me the option of removing account.
Hi,
I have no idea why, but I don't get any push notifications from Facebook Messenger. There is no sound, no vibraitions, nothing in notications. And yet, in the app itself I see that someone wrote to me.
Symptoms:
No notifactions
No chatheads
Full Facebook app itself does notifactions: it tells me about new friends, birthdays etc. Also: when I open a new conversation via Facebook app, it creates that chathead bubble. And with that pinned to my screen I can get atleast some sounds.
When I manage apps, under Messenger, I usually have two services: ChatHeadService and MqttPushService (sometimes also EventService and
I still get notifications from other apps, like SMS, Facebook itself, Google Play etc.
What I did:
I cleared all the cache and app data for Facebook and Messenger (multiple times!)
I reinstalled both Facebook and Messenger
I restarted my phone and did Wipe Cache via Recovery.
I double checked if I have notifications enabled both in my Messenger app and in Application Settings
I have enabled synchronization.
Nothing worked. And yes, until... I have no idea what, everything worked just great.
I'm using Galaxy S4 i9505 with I9505XXUEMJ7. And Messenger/Facebook are the newest, freshly installed versions from the market.
Do you have ANY idea how to fix my problem? Maybe there is some KNOX block or whatever that I'm not aware of?
Out of the Blue, the exact same symptoms. Everything was working fine until a few weeks ago. Suddenly, facebook messenger gives me no notifications at all.
What I tried more was installing older facebook and messenger versions without any luck!
My device is Galaxy S4 i9505 with XXUFNB9 no root
My problem was on Facebook side.
Try creating totally new account and log in with it into your Phone. Check if you recieve notifications.
If yes, go to Facebook settings and delete all (ALL) apps that you have connected. From what I gathered the problem was in one of the apps that probably was stealing all the attention.
Yeap! I disabled all apps from Facebook settings and... blink! Notifications! Don't know which app did the trick but don't really mind. Thank you for your time!!

It's been a while since i did it but it should word...
This is not a new problem for me- I've has this problem over a month, ever since i came from stock.. Googgled the hell out of this too! I've built my own ROMs- i work in IT for a living! What am i missing??
Okay, I'll Tell you all the obvious things that I've checked that should make it work..
yes I have gmail sync checked under accounts
Right now I'm using aoip lollipop(so some of what I say below may be features it or lollipop has), but I've used aosp, aokp both on kit Kat- with the same problem.. deleted app data for gmail, reinstalled from play store..
In the gmail app I have gone to settings, clicked my gmail account, made sure it says notification enabled, notify all emails, chose my tone- even went into each label and turned it on.. I should be getting a ding every five seconds! Silence.
Even went into settings - under privacy, filter notifications, there's nothing listed. Under sounds and notification, I found gmail, and even set it as a priority notification.
I've hit volume up and made sure it says all.(it shows me to chose no notifications, priority, or all)
I get 0 gmail notifications.
So.. In stumped. I used to be annoyed by how often gmail would go off- but now I really need it, at LEAST for a few labels!
Hell, I'm getting notifications in this XDA app.. Why not gmail?? Oh, there's a Facebook one right now! Grrr...
Please, someone help, and no I'm no noob, so don't be a condescending jerk about it either.. I see too much of that on here anymore, which is why I've gone a MONTH+ trying to figure it out myself, before posting here..

Bumping this.. As a recognized contributor who has helped many people, I get inbox messages all the time.. Is there no one here willing to help ME out, the one time I actually need it!?!?!?
I'm on PAC ROM 4.4.4(different ROM than when I originally posted, same issue), no notifications for gmail with it turned on, picked a sound, and turned on notifications on EVERY label- I GET NOTHING - not on several other kit Kat Roms.. Download, reinstall, clear data.. Nothing has worked!
My email is incredibly important to me, especially right now.. Someone, please read above post and help me out..

Hi all,
Has anyone else noticed a significant delay with push notifications (namely with gmail)?
I've got my old iPhone and the Nexus 6P side by side, and at best the push notifications come in 10 seconds later than the iPhone (sometimes it can take up to 10 minutes). I've tried the push notification fix as suggested for other phones, but got no love there.
Any suggestions?

Is Gmail app fetching your emails on a timer or is it push?

Set to push, otherwise I'd understand the large delay.

I just realized gmail only does push.
I just tested it on my Nexus 6p and it pushed a few seconds after the email was sent. At first however I had to manually refresh for the first test email, then the second test email pushed to the device.
I tested by sending a email from a icloud account on my macbook and sending to my gmail account on my phone.

It's almost as though there's some power saving feature going on once you lock the screen (this is where the delay happens, when locked).

Same here, seems strange that it's taking so long then...
Also, when deleting an email from the notification, it just keeps popping back up (i.e. not deleting). There's obviously some strange sync issue going on with gmail and exchange
I've had the same problem and haven't found a solution either. Glad to see that I'm not the only one! I posted on Reddit, but it didn't get much play. https://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus6P/comments/3seyj6/delayed_gmail_syncnotifications/
To try and fix the issue, I've (in no particular order):
Removed my Google account and readded
Gone through Gmail settings to make sure that notifications are on, sync is active, managed labels
Gone through the Google account to make sure that Gmail sync is on
Restarted
Uninstalled updates to Gmail from the Play Store
Reinstalled updates to Gmail from the Play Store
Force Stopped Gmail
Cleared data from Gmail
Cleared cache from Gmail
Removed it from optimized apps
Changed my password on computer, then waited for phone to ask to reinput
I'm on a 64 GB Aluminum, unlocked, MDB08M. I do not have my SIM card yet (only Wi-Fi). Perhaps that's the issue?
I'm getting to the point where I'm going to factory reset, but I was really hoping I wouldn't have to, and I'm not optimistic it would help.

Yeah I've done the factory reset already and can confirm it does nothing. I'm beginning to think its the Gmail app, as the rest of my push notifications are faster or the same speed as iOS. Really crap by the Gmail devs if that is the case.
Any decent replacement email apps out there? The Samsung email app was quicker, but not sure if we can get that without rooting and flashing an apk (and even then not sure if it requires touchwiz to function).
With my 6P Hotspoting to tablet and pc email arrives on 6P a minute or 2 after them.
I don't know if this is the same or not. I have this issue with both the Yahoo mail app and the Outlook app. My gmail notifications seem to be showing up reliably, but I never get any Outlook notifications, and Yahoo's are sporadic--one our of every three or four. When I open either app, it then seems to go fetch the incoming emails. On my previous phone, when I open the app, they're already there. I don't believe I have anything set differently in the apps. I would love to figure this out.
So, I did a factory reset and installed nothing but Outlook and Yahoo mail. Then I sent two notes to my Outlook, Yahoo, and Gmail addresses, and all three of each note arrived almost simultaneously. I guess, now, I'll start re-installing essential apps and testing.
Was looking around and saw someone posted on the official Nexus forums; if anyone here is still having the issue, please head over and +1/reply so Google can escalate the fix.
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/Ayd_1TOemSE
I'm having the same issue and I've also noticed that IMs on Hangouts are ridiculously slow. You would think that Google would make sure that at least their own apps worked smoothly on their flagship device.
I think I may have solved my sync issues. In the WiFi advanced settings, I switched the WiFi frequency band from Auto to 2.4Ghz. Ever since I did that I've received notifications on my Nexus 6P just as quickly as I do on other devices.
Wow, glad I saw this thread. I've been noticing gmail is slow lately. I thought it might have been my ROM/Kernel combo. I use Inbox and it was fine up until lately. Guess it's a bug for Google to fix. I even spent time last night reflashing stock and starting fresh out of box state.
This is happening to me too..happens on gmail and as well as Google opinion rewards. It's been happening for a little over a week now...hopefully will be fixed soon..
Is it happening to everybody or just a select lucky few?

Lots of users having this issue
http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/0...syncing-issues-in-gmail-inbox-and-other-apps/
I see that lot of people are only discussing about Gmail and other mailing or hangout apps.
I on the other hand am seeing overall notification push delay across all the apps including Whatsapp, Gmail, Facebook etc. I am unrooted and no changes made whatsoever to my android marshmallow. It is also on latest OTA build.
I receive all notifications as soon as I unlock the device, but if my device is lying on a table (even when not in doze mode which means lying for less than 30 minutes) I still don't receive any notification. As soon as I unlock and turn on screen it seems like data connectivity resumed and all notifications starts to flow within 5-10 seconds without even opening those apps to refresh.
I also have not modified any other notification setting and I even tried to keep whatsapp to priority mode + no battery optimization, still Whatsapp is having hard time receiving notification if screen is turned off for more than 5 minutes..
If you are experiencing this kind of an issue and have successfully resolved it, kindly help me.
I've lost email notifications but I have read that Google know about the problem,

Hi all,
I’m on an unrooted Marshmallow 6.0 MXPE with the May security patch. I use the stock calendar (Google - version 5.5.14-128688903-release) for appointments, reminders, etc. and only enter events on the phone itself (I don't log into a computer to my Google Calendar and send myself emails, so this isn't a "push notification" issue, if I have my lingo correct.) Anyway, my phone either goes off minutes/hours late or my phone doesn't go off at all, causing me to miss multiple appointments, etc. In my 7+ years with Android phones this has never happened to me, and my lousy memory cause this current issue to be a tragic one! I've tried using 3rd-party calendars as well (DigiCal, Today) and the same thing is happening. Here are some things I've tried:
1. I've selected Settings -> General -> Notify on this device and also de-selected it while using Google Calendar, and I also tried this setting even when using the 3rd-party apps.
2. On the MXPE I’ve gone into Settings -> Battery -> Battery Optimization and set Google Calendar (called just “Calendar” in this app list) and any 3rd-party calendar apps to “Not optimized”. I then tried setting EVERYTHING to “Not optimized” (trying to see if that made a difference despite the App Standby feature being basically nullified, if I understand that correctly).
3. I’ve cleared the cache partition on the phone upon re-boot.
4. I’ve downloaded and installed an app called Force Doze and whtelisted the calendar apps
5. I’ve used adb to use the script “dumpsys deviceidle disable” to disable Doze (albeit temporarily, since this would go away once the phone was rebooted) and this didn’t seem to show any improvements.
I’ve done hours of research online and remember reading somewhere that Doze will still kick in even if an app has been whitelisted. I’m not a programmer (although I’ve rooted past phones and am fairly tech-savvy) so I don’t know how to resolve this big issue. I’m not sure if factory resetting my phone would make a difference. Or do I root the phone so there’s a way to disable Doze altogether, if that is in fact the issue (after all, I would rather have a phone with lousy battery life and receive calendar notifications than miss them). One thing to note is that the Google Calendar app is a bit glitchy for me, such as when I tap the 3 bars at the top left to get to the Settings menu, and the app freezes nearly every single time. I don’t see a way to uninstall the Google Calendar app and re-install, if that would even help. The good news is that the app and all the calendars always sync with my Google account.
Nearly all the research I’ve done only shows people with the “push notification” issue where their wifi got disabled or something like that. My issue is different. Has anyone had any issues like mine and/or found a solution? Sorry for the longwinded post but I am at my wit’s end and wanted to list all the details.
