Hey everyone. I've got a problem with my phone, that it will randomly disconnect / connect to the network in a completely random fashion.
This started happening about 3 weeks ago, but it wasn't real bad. Normally after a restart, or two if would solve the problem, but then it seemed to just get worse. Now, sometimes it only takes one restart, but other times, I have to wait several hours before it will connect again.
When it does connect, it sometimes will stay connected for a few minutes up to several hours.
Here is what I have tried:
I have removed the battery several times, even left it out overnight... That did nothing.
I have done a couple factory resets, which did not help.
I have updated my PRL and Profile, which has done nothing.
I have done a SCRTN Reset, and that didn't help.
That's all that I can think of that I did. I do have a system update downloaded, that I'm hesitant to install. Last time I tried, it took a long time to boot, and when it got past the Sprint boot logo, it gave a black screen, with message boxes that said "Unfortunately Settings has stopped". If I tapped 'OK', it would give another message box, that something else had stopped. This went on for a little while.
One last thing, is that when I don't have service, it will say:
Mobile State: Disconnected
Baseband Version: Unknown
Imei: Unknown
Also, my phone has been rooted for months, so it wasn't from the rooting process.
Here are my device specs:
Rooted
Samsung Galaxy S4 Sprint
SPH-L720
Lollipop 5.0.1
Build Version: LRX22C.L720VPUGOHI
That's all the information I can think of. If anyone can help me out here, that'd be awesome!
Thanks.

No I didn't. I probably should have, but I haven't had an Internet connection I could download a large file on.
@Qwertyhnjikl:
What provider are you using?
I'm with Ting, and started to experience random Data drops too. Toggle Airplane mode does solve it for me, rather than a full reboot. But it seems like it is happening more often the past few day. It started just before Christmas for me.
Have been on rooted L720_OD2 - 5.0.1 since about September without any problems, up until now.
I went ahead a re-flashed OD2 modem in Odin, but it did not solve it.
Another thing I noticed, there is an option missing under Settings>More, right after "Activate this Device" and before "About Device". It should be "Update Profile", I think...
Sorry for the late reply. I didn't have wifi. I'm currently on sprint.
Oddly enough for me, when I turn on airplane mode, the option to turn it off is greyed out.
I'm currently downloading a new 5.0.1 rom... Let's hope it fixes the problem.
I'll let you all know the results.
I went ahead and flashed in Odin the latest OK1 from Sammobile. Did not wipe data, had to re-root and install TWRP. My connectivity issues are gone, for now. Do not see any improvements, as far as the ROM goes, but it works.
One thing I did notice, that there is a 2 GB cache partition, that is barely used (maybe 10 MB).
However, I'm still missing the Update Profile/PRL option in Settings....

Ok. I had stock rooted for awhile from Apr of last year until a few months ago when I decided to venture out & try CM. I decided to switch ROMs because my phone was feeling sluggish. CM really didn't help.
So, recently I tried to go back to stock & keep Knox off my phone. I was on MF9 baseband/modem. I was reading the 2 threads on how to get NAE modem working with MF9 & I couldn't get either method to work. Neither would enable me to have Wifi enabled. I tried several times going through each process. (These are the threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277480 & http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2650706).
I tried flashing CM on top of NAE, it just froze on the Samsung boot logo. I tried flashing it from Philz/CWM, neither worked.
I tried Odin flashing MF9 stock rooted. Again froze on Samsung boot logo. I flashed the MF9 All in One modem/bootloader, THEN Odin flashing MF9. Still no go.
I'm in the process of a stock MK2 ROM flash/install & will try to flash CM again. I'm almost ready to restore a 6 month old NAND, but I'm not sure if that helps me (does the NANDs back up bootloaders? I forget).
I'm at my wit's end. No Wifi, no text messages. Phone calls not connecting or ringing. Really frustrated.
Try to boot back to stock recovery and do a 'factory reset'. Remember that the first boot take a FULL FIVE EARTH minutes.
If that fails...
Try to Odin a custom recovery, but don't check 'autoreboot' after odin completes do a battery pull. Then try and start again.

I've had 4 different recoveries on here, stock/CWM/TWRP/Philz. I've Odin'd and recovery flashed them.
I've unchecked autoreboot and f.start(?). I've battery pulled. Nothing seems to be working.
I need a completely stock ROM that will just work the first time. This is just getting ridiculous.
How do I determine if I've got Knox already?

Well, at least I'm not insane . . . & I don't knox. I'm going for a full stock restore of MF9, see if that doesn't help.
HOLY CRAP! FINALLY!
I read someone was having something similar & flashed via Odin, then shut down & flashed a recovery via Odin, formatted Data in recovery & reboot. That's exactly what worked. Just waiting to see if I get cellular data working (getting texts, etc) but I've got Wifi again!.
Just today, my rooted Galaxy S4 was working perfectly. At about 9 AM I downloaded Liveboot (same person who made SuperSU) After downloading and configuring it, I restarted my phone and it worked. Until... after I tried to turn my wifi on. This is where my problems started. I can't start my wifi... it just turns light yellow forever with the menu forever saying "Wifi turning on." I tried to reopen liveboot, to it forever displaying a "loading screen" for which I soon figured out why. In my root explorer, MANY system files are unopenable, stating they were last modified in 1970, some in 1969. This has caused it so all of my root access is gone. It's on the phone but the apps can't access it because the files can't be opened. They display no error message, when I try to open them nothing happens.
I have tried:
Taking battery out
Hard reboot
Restart
Deleting a wifi file in the data folder but I can't open the data folders
Reinstalling root
I do not want to do a factory reset as I believe it will not fix it as others with the wifi problem have said.
TL;DR I downloaded a boot app, wifi is broken and files are too.
I have never flashed and I'm unsure how to do it, I'm quite tech savvy but I'm afraid to ruin my phone.
Update, I factory reset my phone.
Didn't do anything other than clear my root so I could "possibly" get a new phone from the warranty that expires in 2 and a half months. Does anyone know how to fix the wifi issue?
Anyone have a fix? I'm probably going to use my warranty but It would be great to fix it to saver time

Are you just rooted or do you have safestrap or a custom recovery installed?
You might have to odin back to stock to get everything working again.
I would say Odin to stock and start from scratch. If your safe strapped or a m variant you get slightly different issues or problems.
If you warranty it you'll probably be safe strapped.

If you were running a Google Edition ROM, you need to do a soft reboot or hot reboot to get WiFi working. I know sometimes I have issues with the flashable SuperSU, so if you're not getting root prompts, try just reinstalling it from the market. And check your time and date settings to make sure they're set to network or at least manually set them. I've had all those happen after my phone does a hard shutdown, but if none of those work then flashing stock and reinstalling is your best bet.
Could you send me a tutorial to flash with Odin? I've never done it before. If it requires root I literally can't root my phone because the root "files" are in the corrupted folders that can't be opened, which is what's happening with the wifi.
Edit: never mind I found a good tutorial. I'll do it when I get home.

Update. I had time to flash my phone and completely reinstall my OS. My binary is completely reset now, and my boot screen no longer says "Custom" anymore. Completely stock. No root. I can return it for a warrenty.

(Just in case anyone needed it, I haven't seen many people with this problem and would hopefully like to help anyone who does to get a new phone)
After all this hassle...
My wifi still doesn't work. The only upside is I can return my phone without worry.
Doing this has set me phone to version 4.3 instead of 4.4.2, but now when I try to turn my phones wifi on, it says this:

Upon clicking this, it opens a small window displaying the following

Reboot now, Reboot Later
After this, I went into my settings and screwed around with the "Security" settings for a tiny bit before giving up, then going into recovery mode and clearing the cache, just in case.
I think it's time for a warrenty if nobody can help.
I don't really know if I'm much help, but I can confirm that I was on hyperdrive rom rl20 and so far I've run into a whack of issues... let me explain.
First off I'm a Koodo client, and I have the sgh-i337m Rooted with cf-autoroot and twrp installed because bootload is unlocked.
I was running hyperdrive rl20, and my wifi wouldn't work and neither would my service, after extensive reading I concluded the only way to make this rom work was to download the modules package for at&t listed in one of the hyperdrive forums, now I've done so and everything ran great except the missing features that the rom offered but not available on the device itself because hardware didn't permit it. So my wifi and network issues were solved.
Since then the L update for Koodo had been released, and i flashed back to stock to my dismay, my wifi didn't work back with the stock rom now, I'm convinced the module flash had something to do with it. I'm not that savvy when it comes to figuring out what modules are, I've tried to unzip the modules package I've downloaded and since I'm unaware of what blocks are mounted where I don't know what part of the packages need to be flashed separately. I've wipe the device 3x in one recovery session, I mean everything besides the OTG (nothing connected) and the external SD. I then rebooted and wiped everything rebooted wiped everything and rebooted and wiped everything and rebooted and then installed the update with Samsung Switch because Kies and Kies3 wouldn't work for device recovery. I fist went to 4.4.2 released the same day as the L update, and then flashed again just to make sure, then I did the update not OTA but I put the device back in recovery mode and flashed again with Samsung Switch to the 5.x.x update, now I have service but the wifi still no working. I'm starting to lose my mind. All was well before I flashed the modules for AT&T in that thread. If I somehow new how to extract the modules or what modules were needed maybe I could be more of assistance.
But right now I'm up that creek, resembles brown stuff that comes when your stomach doesn't feel to well, and with out a paddle.
I can't return mine for warranty I don't think because my knox bit is triggered. I don't know what I'm going to do. But there has to be a fix. I refuse to believe that a module flash screwed my phone up and I can't flash back to whatever the issues was or flash over to fix it. I just refuse, so help me Odin and Thor I will summon the furry of so many Norse gods, the grounds will shake and unleash a force like no other. lol ... Sorry it's like 5am where I am and I'm watching the last episode of Vikings

I fixed it with the help of another gentlemen that posted the oc3 modules stripped from the new L rom. He explained to me how to rip the modules out of a rom and I did out of the rom I was running before HyperDrive RL20 and I just flashed those modules back and viola .... I was able to flash right up to 5.0.1 ... thats what I'm running now with out any issues accept obviously I lost root, so thats what I'm in the process of doing now probably just CF-AutoRoot because I could careless about knox trigger at this point the phones out of warranty anyway, I usually wait until about 9 to 10 months in to purchase of the phone and then kind of stop caring about it and get a new one while warranty still applicable. So I'm on my new one. Thanks for the help anyway.

So I went through a rough night last night after trying to install a custom ROM on my AT&T G Pad 7.0. I followed everything as clearly as possible as I'm not new to custom firmware flashing, etc.
My problem currently is that my G Pad 7.0 is some sort of bricked. I've never bricked a device before and I'm honestly not sure how to go about fixing it, if at all possible. What makes me really concerned is that when I turn the device on and try to boot it, these weird lines cover the screen as shown below, and the it sounds like it boots up just fine as you can hear the AT&T chime and touch responses, but all you can see is the lines that cover the screen and nothing else.

I can however, still manage to boot into TWRP if I do a factory reset through the buttons on the tablet, so it makes me hopeful for being able to fix it.
-
ROM I was using: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-candysix-2-3-aosp-base-layers-t3384289 (and I made sure I used the version for the v410 about 5 comments down)
-
For how I went about flashing the ROM originally, I had to revert the tablet from 5.0.2 back to 4.4.2 in order for the ROM to successfully install, and then I managed to root it with KingoRoot, and install TWRP. Then I put the ROM and the Gapps on the tablet, did a full wipe, and flashed them both in the order I was supposed to. Everything was successful, not a single error throughout the entire process, even the ROM said it was installed successfully. So I rebooted the tablet and that's when the lines showed up and the ROM never actually got booted. No sign of warning. So I got back into TWRP and tried flashing the stock 4.4.2 firmware from here, and it flashed successfully too, but to no avail as the lines were still there and it leaves me to where I am now.
And to add, I also cannot boot the device into download mode whatsoever.
Any thoughts or suggestions? It'd be really appreciated.
Let me know if you need any more information.

Sounds like a motherboard issue to me. Perhaps you could try using LGFlashtool to restore Bootloader, Boot, etc. Make sure to backup your efs before you do any of the previously mentioned. Late reply here, worse case scenario you hard bricked your device and you would need to jtag it and restore the device via a cable to the motherboard. But try LGFlashtool first.
Hey guys,
I had a weird issue that never got answered. I upgraded to Nougat via Odin and it, for some strange reason, tripped my knox and kept on getting stuck on the samsung logo whenever I tried to boot it.
I flashed back to the stock firmware from SamMobile via Odin, yet my phone still gets stuck on the Samsung logo. First attempt it will get to Samsung, it'll start flashing as normal, then it'll freeze. Reboot, Samsung logo appears but gets to Samsu, then freezes. I can keep rebooting but it will gradually display less and less of the Samsung logo until it sticks on the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge screen.
I've tried absolutely everything I can think of, factory reset, clear cache, even went as far as installing the TWRP and tried to install it through ADB, though that wouldn't work because ADB wouldn't start.
I'm sick of using my J3 and want my S7 edge back to a normal working condition. I'm half tempted to buy a new motherboard and put that in because no matter what I do, I can't get the phone to work.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I've tried that on my Mac but for some reason it says it can't connect to the device. I am running Windows through parallels, so I might try downloading smartswitch on there and try it through windows instead.

Is your warranty void on 0x1? If its already tripped try flashing Twrp and clear data from there, i saw a lot of people doing this as a fix. If it's still on 0x0 then try to flash another firmware, last one available.

Unfortunately it is in the UK, even though I flashed the official firmware through odin it tripped it for some reason. I've tried using TWRP to clear dalvik cache and normal cache. I've even gone as far as changing the file system to ext3 and back to ext4 to completely wipe everything and done a fresh install. I'm starting to think about just buying a new motherboard and installing that because nothing seems to be working any more.
I had it working on a custom rom until the battery got down to about 70% and then it would crash and wouldn't respond to anything, like the volume down and power reset, until the battery had completely died and I'd charged it fully again.

Damn thats serious....it may be hardware maybe im not sure..
Hello! I got 128gb board from aliexpress to erplace my 64g, because the phone works pretty well, but I desperately needed space. (Because of about 40GB of music)
So the board came with H2OS, and android 5.1.1 if Im not mistaken.. Board works fine, but H2OS is useless for me. I wanted to install OOS or something coustom, like any android 12 for example.
I have all the drivers, unlocked bootleader, fastboot etc, bull****, phone is recognised in ADB and fastboot, even in EDL mode. But every time I try to flash ANYTHING, twrp, another stock ROM, the 1.8GB OTAs just nothing happens.
With the H2OS, i tried to flash something for about 10 hours. When I managed to soft brick my phone, I took it to the shop, and they installed OSS 5.
1st problem. Thats old AF. 2nd problem: Cant update Google Play services, which makes installing anything from google play impossible. Managed to install Vivaldi and AIMP player from apk, but still need tons of other APPs. I dont really want to leave my phone again, stay without a phone, got out off work etc.. Its kinda waste of time. (Not like im not wasting time trying to do it myself, but its not really the same)
So... Whatever BS I wrote above, what I did was:
Enabled USB debugging, OEM change, unlocked bootloader and critical bootloader or something like that.
Tried to flash different stock ROMs, many versions of TWRP. ADB Devices and Fastboot devices see my phone. I get the serial number after executing the command
I followed many different guides, after "Fastboot flash" "fastboot boot" and whatever the different guides used I just get plain nothing. Nothing happens but a frozen console. I tried to run it as administrator, navigate to the folder - always the same - nothing.
When I Soft bricked the phone, I installed some official ROM (the big ones 1,6-1,8GB) manually through the "system updates" menu in the phone. I got the OOS boot logo and I was stuck there (it was probably OOS 5)
Before I brought my phone to the shop, tried the MSM tool, that is supposed to pretty much bring your phone from the grave. disabled the driver siganture, installed drivers, phone shows as the Qualcomm BS,

So I try to start the process Aaaaand... Nothing. It got stuck at Param Prelaod for 6h and the tool said "Thats too long bro, not gonna happen"
And now because I have OOS I thought that I might be able to flash it through MSM to the latest OOS and have my stupid apps, and perfectly functioning phone. Nope. Its the same deal. Its just stuck at "Param Preload" (Took the photo after I disconnected the phone)
I was thinking about reinstalling my PC, and try again.
I tried these and many more files, zips, msm versions etc..
4 USB cables, USB 3, USB 2 ports, different charging ports for the phone.
Somewhere I saw a warning that if there are problems, you could try Intel based PC. I run Ryzen 5 1600., and I dont have any other PC to try with.
I always remove the Pin on my phone before I try anything.
Also, the only ROM/OTA that I was able to install was the one that bricked my phone. First I did it though the System Updates menu, then install adb, internal storage, etc.. I was abe to install this thing from anywhere, it was the only one that cooperated somehow.
Now I tried to install "OnePlus5Oxygen_23_OTA_069_all_2010292138_6700" from internal storage, it loaded it for a bit and then it just got back to the internal storage menu.
After that I tried the MSM (photo above)- nothing.
Phone works atm, not bricked yet.
Im tired of all this.
Thanks, and sorry for this whole mess above
Some kind of "update" regards the inability to use google play services (really dont have time for flashing experiments)
So, I accidentally made another phone profile (while the phone was in my pocket) and since them, I stopped receiving the "Update google play services" or whatever bs it was.
So, I deleted this one since it was guest and created a new one. Well, google play store works without any problem, but I still cant download from the main profile.
When I want to update an app, I update it in the other profile.
I use Win 11 now, but as I already said, im too lazy to try flashing again.
