I was doing a nandroid backup and I saw that there were 3 partitions. Does anyone know if that's correct? Or do I need to clear something here. I've attached a picture so you can see.

Probably system, data, and boot. That's a pretty standard backup.
TWRP can do efs too. You should keep an efs backup too, but it's not really something you want to restore unless you have to. The other three are part of a standard restore.

Is there a reason that I don't have nandroid backup on ClockworkMod Recovery 3.0.2.4? My backup and restore menu only has "backup" and "restore". I'm being picky but the word nandroid is nowhere in these menus.

Back up is what you are looking for. No recovery has the phrase Nandroid Backup
Oh, ok.. Weird. I could have sworn the clockwork version I used to use on my 3G Slide actually said "nandroid backup" in the menu.
Just wanted to make sure I actually did the right kind of backup. Then, no matter what I flash now, as long as I restore this file, I'm back to where I am right now, correct?
Affirmitive. Saved my bacon many times now...

yep, just make sure you store your backup on a harddrive and or offsite storage to make sure you dont lose it.
And two more things to confirm:
1. Will the Titanium backup I did for my apps and settings will reload in any new ROM flawlessly?
2. Do I really not need a stock T-Mo ROM to go back to? The backup will restore perfectly as though my phone had never been flashed to being with?

Let me rephrase that. Clockwork ROM doesn't use that phrasing. some other developers might...

1. As long as there is not an issue with the ROM, or a bad download or something, Titanium will restore your apps and data.
2. If you do not have a ROM backed up at all, it is a good idea to make a backup of the stock just in case something goes wrong. After you have a couple backups, there is really no reason to keep the stock ROM...
When i restore.. Isn't it supposed to bring back exactly what i had before?
I just was trying to flash a few new fonts. i didn't like one. and the others weren't flashing over.
Before i did this. I backed up.
Now. When i try to restore that backup. It backs up. But it makes me relogin to my gmail. doesn't have all my apps. and isn't set up the way i had it.
Help?

Well when you do a nandroid back up it takes a snapshot of your entire OS and the fashion that you left it. If you are trying to do a "restore" by selecting factory wipe from Recovery or hBoot it will wipe everything. including the Log in and the applications. It brings the phone back to a like new status.
If you are wanting to go back to a previous font that you liked, including applications you need to restore from a Nandroid backup.
So i can still do it with the backups that i have? i just have to do it through a nandroid backup? or do i have to start all over and next time. do a nandroid backup?

If you have a previous nandroid backup yes you can restore it. boot into recovery > factory wipe > backup/restore > restore > select the package that you want to restore.
before flashing anything serious you should do a nandroid backup anyway
Code:
boot in recovery > backup/restore > backup
, and keep the newest one. They can take up a chunk of room so you might want to delete the older ones.
What i mean is. Before. I've been backing it up through clockwork. Going into the actual app. they hitting backup current rom.
That wouldn't be a nandroid backup. so those are useless except for bringing it to brand new with the rom on there?
Sorry. haha. just trying to be clear.
This thread just confused what was supposed to be a simple one-two process.

That is preforming android back up. i just hate using the application it's just as easy to boot into recovery and do the same thing.

I have no clue what you are asking. on this one.
A nandroid restore will put you back to the exact point where you made the back up.
So I haven't really used any custom ROMs due to the huge work needed after flashing one, I have too many apps installed and save games that I don't wish to lose.
Well I've decided to check out a few of the ROMs today and see which one I will like best, but I would first like to ask how I would back up my stock ROM is the first place. Now as far as I know you can do a nandroid backup using CWM and so I did that, it made a backup of my stock ROM along with data files off all the apps.
Now let's say I've been with this custom ROM for a few weeks and I'm sick of it, and I would like to return to the stock one. Can I restore stock by flashing CWM again, going to the backup menu and choose restore and then browse to the backup I made? Will it restore my stock ROM + data without problems?
Another thing I'm curious to know is, what's the best way to backup all of my apps along with their save games so that I can restore them to the custom ROM once I've flashed it? I've read about Titanium Backup but I do not see a "Select all" option, backup one after another would be a pain.
I hope I didnt confuse anyone with all these questions.

Stupid me, how could I have not noticed that option. Thanks I have just started backing everything up, I suppose the correct option is "Backup all user apps + system data"?
As for the stock ROM backup, will it work as I said? I've read that CWM has bugs when it comes to restoring such nandroid backups. Also do I need to wipe cache and data before I can restore my stock nandroid backup?

1) Yes, its the correct option. It even backups save games and the entire data
2) It doesnt matter if you wipe data or not. But its fine if you dont do that. I dont wipe data at every nandroid restore and had no problems. Either way its the same, no need to worry about this. CWM backups wont restore or give some problems only when you restore a backup with different kernel. For restoring to work perfectly , the present kernel(before restore) and to be restored kernel must be the same.

Great, thank you.
For now I have transfered all the files from my TitaniumBackup folder to my computer. I am planning on transferring them back to my SD card once the ROM flashing is complete. After I put the TitaniumBackup folder on my SD card, I install Titanium Backup again and it will read the backups right? Then all I do is choose the option to restore them all and it will work with no problems?
Sorry again for too much questions but I always like to be on the safe side when doing such things, I crapped my pants when I ended up with a bootloop on my old phone

I have been scouring the internet for over 2 hours, and I can't seem to find anyone who has done something similar to this, so here goes:
I currently have a Nexus 6P with the Pure Nexus Project Rom installed. I would like to switch to CyanogenMod. Normally, this would be no problem, however I am running into some difficulties with backups. Ideally, I would just do a NANDroid backup from TWRP, but I don't have enough space on my device. Right now I am running a full ADB backup to my computer, but in this instance I don't know if I'll be able to restore that backup to a new CyanogenMod installation.
TL;DR: Will an ADB backup restore to a new custom rom i.e. restore to CM from PureNexus? If not, is there a way to do a NANDroid backup directly to my computer?

You shouldn't be using TWRP to backup/restore data between different ROMs in the first place. That will not only back up your apps but all settings as well, which will cause problems on a different ROM. The only safe way is to use Titanium Backup to backup your user apps (not system apps) and then restore that backup on the new ROM.

Could you point me to where you've seen someone recommending to restore a nandroid /data backup on a different ROM? It's widely known that this is nothing but trouble, if it's on XDA it probably needs to be taken care of.

Titanium backup is the only really viable solution in such a case. When you need to make a snapshot of your whole system in case of failure you use a Nandroid backup, however when you need to transfer data between /system formats then it's best if you use titanium backup.
so, i did the sensible thing and made a backup before toying around.
however when i try to restore it says "cannot restore system -- mounted read only. "
Anyone that might know a solution?
well, i have some progress but now it freezes at "restoring system image" and reboots the phone
Same happened to me...I lose all my data

Seems pretty obvious, but are you guys all BL unlocked? Or just running it via boot command? Also, have any of you decrypted/formatted data?

I am bootloader unlocked (running the lex720) I have not encrypted my data, it all seems weird to me. Not an issue I've had before.
I gave up and installed a new 18s on it, thankfully I had nothing really important on that backup.

The only partitions you should back up are Boot, Cache, System, Data and EFS. In my experience, trying to restore backed up System Image, Recovery and Firmware doesn't work.
Try restoring only Boot, Cache, System, Data and EFS and see if the restore completes.

I thought you shouldnt restore efs EVER. Just make a backup first time and keep it safe somewhere, and never use it unless efs partition ****s up. You dont **** with efs partition lol

Its just storing your imei adress ant stuff. Why restore it, if you cant even delete it? Do full wipe, efs is still there. And like every other memory type, with each re-write its wearing, and it can eventually **** up(ofcourse very little chance) and leave you with only media device(no sim service). So i dont really see a point in restoring efs. Just having a backup is fine
