I have a little problem updating my I9300I because it says "Could not do normal boot" and the device starts in Download Mode (Odin Mode). I tried to install CM 11 but I got that error, the only ROM working for me is the stock 4.3 downloaded from SamMobile. My phone is the variant with the 1.4 Ghz Cortex Processor, I read that there was a problem with that variant, does someone know anything about it?
Thanks.

Hello guys i have a samsung galaxy s4 i9505 i ve rooted it , and installed clockworkmod and cyanogenmod but yesturday i was updating cyanogenmod and when i was to reboot the phone didnt boot only showed "Samsung Galaxy s4 " and stayed like that, i tried to delete dalvik cache, full wipe... and install a google edition rom, but it didnt boot again (i did try several times doing these with different roms and it didnt work), i downloaded my official Vodafone stock rom and try to flash it with odin, it started but it gave me an error (Write Operation failed), then i tried to boot up in recovery mode and it said to me (Firmware upgrade encountered an issue.please select recovery mode in kies and try again) so i did it and it didnt detect me the device. (So I think what happened is that upgrading cyanogenmod it gave me an error and enabled the write protection, so then i tried to install official and it started and erased my custom recovery but then it gave me an error because i CANT flash an official rom because the Write Protection is enabled) PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME I WILL APPRICIATED VERY VERY VERY MUCH THANKS

I am currently new to all this stuff so i dont have an exact idea what i was doing
First of all i rooted my Device I9500 Which had 5.0.1 Android
then i installed TWRP Recovery and then i was not able to backup any stuff to External SD Card so i installed some Boot.img which i exactly dont remember which i installed from watching any youtube video then later some problem occured It showed some error like "firmware upgrade encountered an issue" then i flashed Philz touch recovery which then worked and i was able to backup my data but i was not able to Boot into my Original ROM or couldnt see an option for that. Then i downloaded The Ozcan V6.3 ROM and tried installing it it succesfully installed but after that its not able to boot uo and stuck at SAMSUNG Logo Screen.
Please Help me What to DO !!!.
Thanks In Advance
If your device can still get into download mode, download the stock Android 5.x image for your device and flash it using Odin. That will get you back to square one so you can start over with rooting and installing the custom ROM.
I had the same problem on my gs4. It would only go to galaxy logo so I flashed the lollipop firmware via odin and all is well.

and whats the critera for finding ROMs leaving the model number ? (noob question)
Is the S4 unlocked? If not, what country are you in and what carrier do you have?
My Country is India and its the International Version I9500 and i am not pretty sure that it was unlocked or not .but it was rooted and recovery was installed
Added later :
I just installed recovery back and then tried to install ROM the ROM was also stuck on the Boot Loop I think my boot loader isnt unlocked and ima stuck there because of that
I9500 isnt bootloader locked. And u must be flashing the boot.img on other partition that not in the odin package. So u must search how to repartition ur device. But. U MUST VERY CAREFULL WITH REPARTITION OPTION! U MIGHT BRICK UR DEVICE IF U DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT U DOING!. And if u wanna flash recovery and boot.img or bootloader thing. U must ONLY flash for I9500 version!. And if u successfully repartition ur device. U will lose all internal storage too. Ok good luck

You would know if you were carrier unlocked as you'd be able to put a SIM from a different carrier into the S4 and have the device work. To get you the correct ROM we still need to know your carrier.
secure download : enabled
Hi my galaxy s4 gt i9500 is stuck in a bootloop. When is boot I get "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again"... when I boot into download mode I see "secure download : enabled" which wasn't usually there. Am trying to flash the pit file with twrp but Odin is failing.... is it because of the secure download enabled?? Please help me
You can't flash the PIT file with TWRP.
Do you have Odin? Do you have a copy of your stock ROM, downloaded either from Sammobile or samsung updates? If not, you'll need to get them. You then flash the firmware through Odin WITHOUT the PIT file. This should restore your device to operating condition. Afterward, you will of course need to root the S4 and flash a copy of TWRP to be able to install a custom ROM.
Carrier is Airtel
Okay, So I was trying to flash stock rom (4.4.2) in Odin and It failed. IT left me with the error, SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 4 > Binary 1
I get this error every time I try to flash. And I tried to do an Emergency Software Recovery and it just fails after it downloads the Update. I am able to access Android Recovery and Download Mode Aswell. I think when I tried to factory reset I deleted The whole OS. I really hope I am not out a brand new phone. I already tried to flash like 3 different stock roms from different websites same error!
Phone was Not rooted.
No Custom Rom installed.
Android 5.1.1 Was installed before.
Also, I heard that some users have been able to flash the pit and fix this, How can I find my Pit File. Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900A
Hi guys i bought korean N910L (n910L is written on sticker under battery )
It had a rom which showed mobile name n910s , it was rooted bloat free. it had really good battery timing. Twrp was also preinstalled on device.
But i wanted to flash sphinx rom for n910L. But the flash in odin failed.
I tried official 5.0.1 but it also failed. Only latest official COL1 firmware 5.1.1 from sammobile flashed but it had terrible battery timing.
I rooted official 5.1.1 and tried to remove bloatware apps but they wont. Went to odin mode which showed os and binary as custom and secure download enabled.. Again tried flashing sphinx and official 5.0.1 for n910l but both failed and odin showed binary as Samsung official. Error on pc odin shows write failed. Is the bootloader locked or what. Can i unlock it or downgrade bootloader to 5.0.1. Or give me the link to the first bloat free rom which showed model number n910s and build number written " awais android lab "
solution
finally found solution. THIS IS HOW IT WORKED FOR ME on lollipop col1 fimware of SM-N910L
twrp wasnt flashing so using cwm, flashed it as follows
connected phone in download mode and opened odin 3.10 on pc, then selected cwm recovery file and then while holdind vol+ and home and power buttons in download mode for about 5 seconds pressed start on odin and when phone booted left power button but kept pressing home n + until cwm started
here is the link to veitnamees site http://vegaviet.com/forum/288/
open in chrome and translate page to english
u will find some roms here for korean variants
goal is to install lollipop 5.1.1 custom rom as u cant go back to android 5.0 or 4.4
i m using this one http://vegaviet.com/threads/398322/
download it using the mega link given in thread
and flash in CWM
if u have problem booting, as my samsung boot screen showed kernel is not seandroid enforcing, then
use the stock rider kernel link given in another rom's thread http://vegaviet.com/threads/415270/
kernel link http://www.mediafire.com/download/ra5ojtvt19y7hh3/StockRider_Kernel_v2.8.0.zip
flash it immediately after flashing the note 5 port rom and then reboot after wiping catche
first boot took me about 10 minutes (i was beginning to give up),, battery life seems average ( not sure but 5.0 seemed better)
hope it helps some in problem. if it does help ,plz hit thanks as it took quite afew hours to find solution
Hello. I've got a problem with my S4. I had Andoid 5.0.1 on my Galaxy S4. I bought a new phone so i installed CyanogenMOD on my S4 just to see how it works. When i noticed that battery drain is super high (it wouldnt survive one night of doing nothing) i wanted to install android 4.3 because it was my first android on this phone and from what i remember S4 worked best with this version. I downloaded firmware from sammobile and i didnt use original samsung cable. Something went wrong. It failed like 0,5 sec after i clicked start. I couldnt start my phone (it said that firmware upgrade encountered an issue). and from this moment i cant install any firmware. Im using original cable now. I downloaded like 10 firmwares already from 4.2.2 to 4.3, 4.4 and 5.0.1. different countries (including my original Germany Vodafone). I managed to install it once but it got stuck after Galaxy S4 text ("Samsung" showed up and it kept blinking and blinking.). From this time it always got stuck on system.img.ext4 but not always on 50% for example. Sometimes 10%, 25%, 90%. Used versions of Odin: 3.07, 3.08, Odin3_v3.11.1
Okay. So:
1. Got S4 with Android 5.0.1
2. Installed CyanogenMOD (13 i think)
3. Tried to install 4.3 with not original cable and failed.
4. Tried to install 5.0.1 with original cable. Installed it but it got stuck on Samsung logo.
5. Tried to install various versions of android. It always got stuck on system.img.ext4 in System section of flashing with Odin.
Is there any way to fix that? I know that may be very chaotic but i hope you understand. Thank you.
After flashing 5.01 with Odin, did you perform a factory wipe before booting 5.01 for the first time?
No, my Odin was set to reboot my phone automatically
Anybody?
Hi,
Just trying to add some things:
1) Untick Auto Reboot before flashing.
2) After stock firmware successfully flashed, reboot manually to recovery mode by Home+Power+Vol(+) buttons.
3) Wipe data/factory reset.
You're ready to go.
EDIT: My bad. Got no idea about stucking on system.img.ext4.

You tried using kies and smart switch to perform an emergency recovery?
When flashing system, it fails or it just stops there and never proceeds?
You confirmed that the model number in download mode matches rom you are flashing?
You tried flashing with a pit file?
Can you flash twrp and another custom rom?
Kies doesn't see my phone after just plugging it in and after clicking emergency recovery. Doesn't matter if its in Download mode or just turned on with "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue..." error. Smart Switch too. Smart Switch gives me an error that my device isn't compatible with this software.
When flashing system it just stops and never proceeds.
In download mode i see this:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9505
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
KNOX KERNEL LOCK: 0x0
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0x1
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable
eMMC BURST MODE enabled
And yes, im installing rom for my model.
I will try flashing with pit file and try to flash twrp and another custom rom and let you know. I won't be able to do this today.
I tried to flash rom the normal way (Spanish version, i chose it randomly) and it flashed my device. I was stuck in Samsung logo once again (after wiping cache and all data) but after like 2-3 restarts the system started. I don't know what was causing the problems and why Spanish version worked but Germany didn't. Thank you for all your help.
