CF-AUTOROOT (problem) - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI
recently flashed the new version of cf (with 5.1.1 support) now experiencing Some bugs like the multiwindow it goes on everytime no matter if i toggle it off or not , and phone overheating really bad and battery is going down really fast , tried fixing wakelocks and do some formatting and still the same (also securestorage is false) , any advice ?????
(problem coming from the root because i didnt installed any app with root access yet)
also wondering if these over-heating would do any harm to battery life??

Might be simple, but have you actually tried resetting the phone completely and re-rooting it?
Also, overheating can cause battery drain. The throttling of the CPU does require some power, so if you're phone is always running hot, yes, you will notice this.

[Q] Problem after Rooting

Hi everyone
I have an international version of Note 3. The problem I'm facing is, after rooting my phone and installing Lidroid Custom ROM, the battery on my phone started draining badly. To get rid of the problem I reinstalled Stock ROM on it and also unrooted the phone. But the problem is still there.
Even without using the phone, the percentage drainage is about 1% every 10-15mns. Have removed all third party application from the phone, but to no avail.
Can something be done about this? I'm at wits end and need a solution badly. Please respond ASAP.
Thanks in advance.

Get wakelock detector from Google play see if it's a app draining the battery
Get into recovery mode and clean your cache, whatever bad bug went on with the custom ROM flash is still there. Once you clear it you should be OK.

[Q] Severe battery drain

I am noticing sever battery drain since my upgrade to 4.4.2 (shout out to JasmineRom!) but now my battery is getting murdered. Befor you ask, yep clean wipe and install, and yep xposed installed. Battery stats says it is "NFC Test". I don't have NFC turn on, so im trying to figure out how to kill the process. Anyone else have the same issue? I know 4.4.2 is a drain and im wondering if I found the culprit.

If you're on Jasmine 2.0 it is a known issue, you can either install a different ROM or wait for 2.1 to come out which will fix the issue.

[Q] Sprint S5 huge battery drain after rooting

Hey everyone,
I have been reading and learning a ton from the XDA threads over the past couple weeks so first off, Thank You! for all the useful info on here.
After doing some research I just rooted my Sprint S5 so I could tether free and use an international SIM when travelling. After rooting successfully, I tried several different tether methods; TreVe mod, Xtether, Fox Fi and finally Fabios WiFi Tether Router.
Fabio's tether is working sometimes but the result of all this work is that my battery is draining super quick, like 4 - 6 hrs. Also, my usual smooth performance is gone. Switching screens is choppy, using widgets is slow, internet is hampered.
I'm wondering if I rooted incorrectly or if remnants of tether programs are floating around in the background... I tried Dalvik wipe and ROM cleaner
Biggest problem... I didn't know about making a recovery file when I rooted... Yes, I'm a first timer :silly:
So my questions are as follows:
-How can I fix the battery drain?
-How can I restore performance
-Can I still use CWM or TWRP after rooting or is it too late?
I'm doing 27 hrs of travel in a couple days and have 2 kids so any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
First, Did you keep location/GPS off? Coz, it sucks battery a lot..
Obviously you can use CWM/TWRP now.. Basically it's recommend to flash it after root..
Finally, if you're not happy with a rooted device, you can always go back to stock device by flashing with a stock firmware..

First off, Thanks Masum for your help!
Battery drain:
I was using GPS/Location the same amount before rooting and the battery was lasting around 12 hours; I have about 6 hours of battery life now with minimal use. Could using GPS after rooting make a difference? It seems like everything is slowing down and my battery analysis says that Connections Optimizer is draining 42% and Android System is draining 31%. Is that unusual?
CWM/TWRP:
My understanding so far with the CWM/TWRP is that you should make a recovery when the phone is running healthy so you can go back to that if your phone gets messed up (like mine is now). Possibly I don't understand Recovery correctly. Please clarify.
Also, when trying to install TWRP from the installer app, it asks for the Device Name and then leaves a message saying that I will probably brick my phone if I enter the wrong one. I cant find my device name anywhere (Sprint S5). How do I find it?
Flash to stock firmware:
I was hoping to avoid this if possible as all the tutorials seems to be pretty complicated (for intermediate and pro's) and I'm a little worried i'm going to brick my phone ;0) But if this is my only option i have a couple questions:
In order to flash with a stock firmware, do I need to have a recovery file in place? If not, could you point me in the right direction for instructions for noobies on flashing to stock firmware for Sprint S5 please.
Once again, thanks for your help!

Constantly Awake

Hi Guys,
I flashed the latest 5.0.1 Lollipop firmware (N910FXXU1BOC3) last week to my N910F Note 4.
Everything has been working okay. Until yesterday where the phone is constantly awake.
I have uninstalled all 3rd party apps and booted into safe mode yet it still shows as constantly awake in the power saving settings section.
I have tried using airplane mode, removing the battery for 10 minutes . Restarting multiple times to no avail......
Does Anyone have any suggestions?

Reflash the firmware again and do a full set up as if it was a brand new device.

I shall try that when I get home. I restored my phone from a backup after I originally flashed 5.0.1.
This time I shall keep it as a fresh firmware flash.

hi ,
your above post reminds me of my experience recently,with........BOC3
i upgraded from Android v 4.4.4 to BOB4 lollipop ( dirty flash ,no wipe, no factory reset ,
no problems at all .My device was running smooth ,no errors etc. battery ok .)
Flashed fom BOB4 to BOC3, i resetted my device etc .root recovery etc .
for a while everything was running fine, after a few days ,i started to have a bad wakelock .
Device was awake most of the time .
Lucky i was able to id/pinpoint culprit with" BetterBatteryStats " and Gsam battery monitor .
It was a system process something with....... Samsung security Filezip log..?
As i had an old app on hand "DisableService"( root ) and traced the process and unticked 3 relevant processes ( lucky guess ? ) and my wakelock is solved .Battery usage much better etc
BOC3 is just as good and stable as my previous v4.4.4 and BOB4...!!
So sometimes dirty flash works ok and sometimes flashing, then an factory reset..etc etc does not help.!
good luck

Have this issue myself with a N910F on 5.0.1 BOC3 (N910FXXU1BOC3 - CSC TDP). Without much Screen on time i get about 50% battery usage after 9h (usually when I get home from the office). It's not bad, but I would still wonder what the battery life would be like if I did not have the device constantly awake.
I would not want to root the device in order to avoid tripping the KNOX counter.
Is there any way to find and remove the wakelock culprit without rooting the device ?
I updated to 5.0.1 BOC3 from 4.4.4 ANK4 from Odin, wiping the device before and after.
Any ideas on how to proceed without tripping KNOX ?
I had the same problem and I fixed it when I disabled google backup from settings...
Maybe you could try this!

Thanks for the reply, but wanted to know what are you reffering to as google backup. Are you talking about the google sync for contacts, gmail, calendar, drive etc ?
Because on the device i have 2 google accounts that have gmail sync and another google account with gmail, contacts, drive and calendar.
I have disabled google+ photo backup.

There is a menu backup inside settings. Where it syncs wifi passwords etc with Google... I do not know how it is called in English because I use it with Greek names... But I think you can find it easily..

Seems that the wakelock issue is a thing of luck.
I have disabled some more sync options and additional stuff like Multi Window and On-Body Detection SmartLock but i had the same issue with the phone being constantly awake.
Every time i disabled a new feature, did a phone restart. What i noticed is that sometimes after the restart, the wakelock problem goes away, sometime the phone is still constantly awake. So from my point of view, without rooting the Note 4, i can say it's pure luck after a phone restart.
I'm loving that now i see 23% battery consumption after 12h with an estimated of 2 Days left - without power saver. It sure beats the 50% consumption after 8h with 8h left. But i still have to admin, with a constant wakelock on the device, the resolution of the screen, the battery life is .. WOW

Signing out of Google in the settings page then rebooting and signing back in stops the device being always awake. However, it seems Google Services is very buggy and for me the wake happens again after a few days randomly.
Happens with 5.1.1 too. Not rooted

Mediaserver drains battery, is there a solution?

Hello i've been using G900F for 2 years. I've nearly find every solution for my issues. But there is an issue which drives me crazy: Mediaserver battery drain.
Sometimes (few times in a week) my battery is empty just in an hour. The main cause is "Mediaserver". I tried some solutions on xda but it keeps draining my battery.
If you have a solution please help me.
Thanks in advance.

Do you still have kit kat?? Asking you because this is the kit kats (4.0.x) principal issue that have never been solved. Partley even for lollypop (5.0.x) and solved for M.M. (6.0.1). Instal last 6.0.1 firmware and don't have problems any more with mediaserver.

Yes I'm using KitKat because i like that version of android. 6.0.x's asking for permissions is very bad option i don't like it. I don't update to 5.0.x or 6.0x because there is no option for rooting with keeping knox 0x0.

Ok..try this if staying on 4.0.x: go in settings and then in applications. Find (don't remember well ...I'm on 6.0.1) mediaserver, Archive, media archive external archive, gallary, your music app and enter in all of thees ones doing a wipe cache and wipe data. Shut down your phone and before opening again, go in recovery and make a wipe cache. Reboot and wait 5 minutes defore doing anything so media server remakes your entire multimedia archive. Should be solved for a while until the next data corruption will be present again.
