Long pressing on the home screen brings up a number of options, including a list of widgets available to load. Does anybody know of a way to edit the widget list? For example, delete some unwanted widgets?

If you dont want them why not remove them from the system then?
Most widgets should be safe to remove as far as i know
adb shell rm /system/app/com.htc.PlurkWidget.apk
For example, I have the Hero Clocks installed, which places 40 clock widgets in the widget list. I don't like about 25 of them, but I want to keep the others.
Or another example, if I wanted to keep the Weatherbug app, but don't like or use the widget, how would I uninstall the widget but keep the app?
So im using MIUI 1.4.22r1 and I try to customize my home screen and when I try to remove them from the desktop it tells me that it cant be removed? anyone else have this problem? is there is something im missing here?
Is it apps you are trying to remove from the home screens or widgets?
The miui rom doesn't have an app drawer so all the apps collect on the desktop and when you remove the app from the desktop you uninstall it.
If you don't want the apps on the home screen then just create a folder and put the apps in there to reduce clutter or you can use an alternative launcher like adw to get back the app drawer.
As you know that when you install certain third-party apps like Market or Superuser, the shortcut is not added to the KF stock launcher. Does anyone know how to manually create shortcuts for apps? I know other launcher will show them but I want to keep the default launcher for now.
on the market there is a app called "any cut" - you can make shortcuts to everything
For the market in particular there is a MarketOpener.apk file that'll add a shortcut for you. You'll find it with a quick search, I don't have a link handy. If you're looking for more than that though, no idea.
Anyone else noticed that as one adds apps the icons in the app drawer do not sort alphabetically? Ideas how this can be remedied?
Get awd lancher ex.. it makes the drawers look awesome.plus it makes the tab a lil fast San tw
im with the stock launcher...
Just choose 'edit' your apps screen and move your icons around manually... It took a few moments at first, but now they are all alphabetized.. & when you add another one.. just edit-drag it to where you want it to go.. the others will move around automatically to make room for your moves.
Good luck
Hi all, I am trying to develop a widget that works similar to the App Folder that comes standard with android. The functionality is that you can drag and drop apps into a folder so that your homescreen is a bit more organized. Is it possible to create a widget that can accept a drop of another application?
I have done a lot of searching on google and have come up short. Any help is appreciated.

AFAIK, there's no way of doing this except with building your own home screen launcher since (most) Android launchers move widgets out of the way if you drag a shortcut on them (JB+) and do not pass any event or call to the widget (all versions).
You can, however, create that Widget and in the setup screen show a check list with all apps so the user can choose there which apps they want in the folder.

That's a good idea. :good:
Yeah, as far as I know there is no way to do this, too.
Thanks guys. I do currently have an app Chooser available to populate my current widget. I was just looking for a way to make it easier to add apps to the widget.
After searching around and trying different things I figured it wasn't possible but never found any info good or bad so I figured I would ask the experts.
Thanks again for your help! :good:
