No custom roms are available for our tegra note 7 - Nvidia Tegra Note 7

Hello everybody,
I'm wondering why there aren't (working) custom roms for our device. I also got some nexus devices and on them I enjoy cyanogenMod, why it's impossible to build a custom rom for our tegra note 7? Another point is that I think the stock version running on the tegra note 7 is bugged and lagging.
Thanks for reading guys I hope you can give me an answer.
EinBier

I haven't found a ROM yet and I've been looking for ages. Lollipop performance on this device is somewhat erratic; sometimes it's brilliant and others it's useless. Never had to reboot a device so often in my life.

yeah, wish we had a nice custom rom or kernel for Lollipop on this device.
at first mine worked fine but recently the nvidia services take up anything from 30% to 70% of cpu all the time, draining the battery in a matter of hours even with screen off.
and god forbid I leave it ON while charging, it will still drain/charge and heat up like a god damn cooking stove... sigh

Just run kitkat.
A custom 5.x effort wouldn't necessarily be any good either. It's unfortunate that NV has abandoned continued TN7 efforts but it's not surprising I guess.

we would gain quite alot if we could run marhsmallow though, as sdcard can be mounted as internal memory

I bought a Shield K1 and have experimented with the adopted storage. It's slow and it's buggy at the moment. I think it's slow because they force it to be encrypted. I think they format it with EXT4 as well and that's going to be slower in general than FAT32 or EXFAT on a SD card because of the journaling.
I even had some weird MTP USB transfer problems with it. Inaccessible or missing files/folders even after a reboot.
People are complaining about Marshmallow on the K1 for the same reasons people complain about 5.1 on the TN7. It is having battery drain problems because of services pegging the CPU for some reason. So I don't think you want a build of the current Marshmallow release.

Never gonna buy from Nvidia again. Was thinking of getting the Asus Zenpad S but from reading the forum (they don't even have a dedicated one yet) OTAs are hard to come by.

I think NVidia is actually one of the best about updates. Google itself is probably the best.
ASUS is does not support their products for long.
The main problem is that Android always has problems. They are always rushing to the next big version with new features and never get the bugs all ironed out.

Nope, not about Android. The tablet has problems with palm recognition when using the built-in stylus and overheating among other things. We've been waiting for a fix for quite awhile.

The fix is to run Kitkat.
I think NV is done with TN7 and Shield Portable support. The Shield Portable people say there are problems with their 5.x builds too. I was reading through a thread of that yesterday and they said stick to Kitkat for it too.

I'm talking about Kitkat. Also when you plug in the charger you can't use the pen while at the same time resting your palm on the screen.

In my experience with various tablets, connecting the charger sometimes causes the touch recognition to go haywire because of some kind of electrical effect. It varies among tablets and chargers. The Shield Tablet actually seems much more sensitive to the issue. I have a charger that makes it go crazy with phantom touches.

Sorry for a potentially stupid post

I'm tablet shopping.
I have 500 bucks to spend. I don't know much about the Iconia other than the reviews being good. Are the problems I've read about honeycomb on the Xoom present here as well? Is 3.1 coming any time soon?
I don't want to buy another iPad
Dammit I thought I was in General Mods please move.
If they're OS related (aka Honeycomb's), then yes, all tablets running Honeycomb have them. Compared to Xoom though, the Iconia is sexier (my opinion), and has a working microSD card slot.
On the other hand it has other problems, e.g. the screen turns on by itself from time to time, and there is (apparently) battery drain from Cell standby (divided opinions on this one).
The thing that got me hooked though was the USB port. At the moment you can attach a keyboard or USB storage, and it works, and it seems with a 3.1 update it will be able to do even more.
Re: 3.1, I've seen a post around here somewhere from a user who contacted support about a problem with the browser, and they stated that the problem would be fixed in the 3.1 update sometime in June. Don't have any additional info.

Buy it - you'll love it. The combination of features can't be beat. I just tried out this morning the USB mouse (there's an apk floating around this forum somewhere - I just don't remember where it is).
Also, I might point out it's quite sturdy, Gorilla glass screen and, at least for me, I have not had any sudden screen on/off behavior, no hardware issue whatsoever, and excellent battery life. I have WiFi set to turn off when the screen is off and I only lose a few % of battery overnight.
All in all, it's a lot of fun to use

The xoom has a working microSD card as well via custom kernel. The Iconia is a great tablet but the lack of recovery is what ultimately led me to the xoom. The two are actually very similar. No word on 3.1 yet Gunny, the jurory is still out on what Acers support will look like, another reason I chose the xoom in the end. I enjoyed my time with the Acer. The Acer has lots of potential but it's a tough nut to crack. Even with running stock I didn't like the idea of not being able to complete recover without sending it into Acer.
Although you can kind of recovery by flashing the Chinese update.zip, I would have felt better with a stock US image. Good luck my friend.

Tomorrow is my 14th day.. I'm pretty sure I'm going to return it and wait for the 10.1 tab. There are some quirks that are really bothering me about the tab
Screen on and off
Laggy text input while typing.
Sometimes laggy browser.
Considerable lag w/ live wallpaper.
The battery rocks, I've already reset to stock and re-rooted. I also have the ntfs support enabled. I have an external 32gb sd which was a pain to get working. I am bothered that Acer didn't include a file manager. (I know there are plenty out there).
Just my thoughts.
If your looking for another reason to keep your Iconia, take a look at this review:
http://techcrunch.com/2011/05/03/the-five-minor-differences-between-the-motorola-xoom-and-acer-iconia-tab/
I think this review by TechCrunch really breaks down some of the more obvious differences and puts it into perspective as to why the Iconia is a better purchase.
Don't worry about Honeycomb 3.1 ... it'll be out soon enough for the Iconia and someone will ALWAYS hack the system so if your ever worried about being locked out... also give it some time.

All of the stuff you pointed out can be fixed via a software update.
The Samsung tab losses a lot of input ports to attain its thinness.
No USB, no HDMI, & who knows what else.

This is why I chose the Iconia over the Xoom or Tab 10.1, updates can fix the laggy stuff, you cant add a usb/hdmi port(unless your a serious modder or computer engineer). Ive only had my Iconia for 3 days but so far I havent had any issues anyone else is talking about.(Screen or Wifi issue).
I think engadget also raised the possibility of the iconia having ddr3 memory, although from what I read on the Nvidia white papers, it only supports ddr2 memory.
Anyone see any breakdowns that identify the memory modules, and if they are truly different from other tabs?

A little Asus disappointment

Asus got out of the blocks really fast supporting the TF with bug fixes and updates, but seem to have gone very quiet now. Whilst their response is still leagues ahead of the likes of Samsung, I'm starting to feel a little lingering disappointment that issues most of us are experiencing haven't been addressed as yet, namely Flash acceleration and dock battery drain in my particular case, given how proactive Asus seemed to be just 6 weeks ago.
Specifically, where we seemed to have Asus staff contacting XDA users directly a few weeks ago, I'm not hearing of this any more.
If I *knew* that all our issues were being worked on as part of an update to 3.2, I'd be a lot happier, but if they are Asus could do themselves a massive favour by communicating this to their user base.
So Asus, if you are reading this, a little extra "official" communication can go a very long way! I don't expect miracles, and I understand how long it can take to fix bugs, provide updates, and QA them for release, but the comfort of knowing they are coming is important to the consumer.
Regards,
Dave

I think if people were complaining about minor issues then you may have a point but I think the flash playback is a big problem that needs to be addressed.

Thing is, it's basic human nature to believe one's own problems to be big, and the other problems to be minor. Fact of the matter is, Asus has been about the most forthcoming and prompt with fixes of any tablet manufacturer out there, but they can't define Google's release schedule.
I'd hate to penalize Asus for having the most functional and updated Honeycomb tablet simply because they've slowed down in the last few weeks. The bottom line is, although we have some issues, only the 720p Flash issue is comparable to other tablet vendors. The keyboard dock charging issue is a bummer, but it's still unique functionality that nobody else has come close to providing.
Consider that the Xoom still doesn't have microSD card support, and here we are with full host mode support on the dock, both microSD and SD slots supported, two full-size USB ports supporting a wide range of devices (including my Logitech mouse, which is cool). I'd say that's pretty impressive support so far.
My hope is that Asus is working diligently on a killer update to coincide with 3.2, and that will resolve all of the major issues we're currently experiencing. If that comes out by the end of July, or even in early August, then I think Asus is doing a marvelous job of supporting this thing.
I am an eternal pessimist. *IF* they fix Flash video playback. Wifi channels 12-13 in the UK, keyboard lag in the browser, video playback in general (Get rid of judder on video with sound) and possibly better battery performance I will be so much happier. But sadly I don't have that much faith. If they all get fixed in a single update I will eat my hat.

Couldn't agree more, when the Xoom has a non-functioning SD slot and the Tab doesn't have one at all I give Asus credit there. Some of the issues are inherent to HC in general, don't have a dock so not aware of a charging issue there except you aren't supposed to charge them together.
Asus hit the floor running with the TF and I couldn't be happier, the Thrive being released will lead them to only step it up even more now.
This is the only thing keeping me hoping. That other tablets being released means they need to fix the problems pronto or lose sales!
Have to agree.
Had the asus pad for 2 days and i am not to happy about it.
I seems a a very beta sw, heavy lag in ui. Tried all the custom roms and no real improvement.
720P movies stutters a lot, even with high oc. (tried a number od players and 720p movies.
Tegra 2 and honeycomb is not up to it.

Yes, I don't think that's true. I believe it's designed to charge the tablet first when docked, and then the dock. I suppose you'd not want to charge them together if your objective is to fully charge the dock as quickly as possible...

I recall reading somewhere that Asus doesn't recommend it. If it works then great, one more benefit to when I get a dock.

Seems logical to me. What I noticed is that when docked together and plugged in it solely charges the tablet first. Then at around 90% it charges the tablet a lot slower then focuses on charging the dock.

As to the constant winging on this forum, its starting to get on my tits. I have been using this site since 2005 under one name or another, it has always been an excellent resource for help and troubleshooting. There is no perfect device, not by Apple or by any manufacturer using android.
This is the first true version of android for tablets, early android phones where terrible but addictive, now they are fast stable and amazing. The fact is) at the moment on an arm based system, the TF is pretty dam good. it is lightening fast compared to non SSD drive devices.
These android devices are not meant to replace PC,s or Macs at this time, maybe win 8 will do that with their tablet versions on arm.
At the moment for a Linux based system device, it pisses all over systems like Ubuntu mainly due to the vast array of possibilities and apps.
Things can only get better. As an early adopter and fan of android, I also have to admit that the I pad is amazing, but I have not touched mine in 5 weeks, the wow factor had me with the I pad, but the eee pad does what I want, couch browsing, news reader, bit of gaming, a little bit of work and wireless printing, and all for me without a glitch or stutter.

So what we are trying to say is that there is a price to pay for being an early adopter of any new technology and that any bugs will be smoothed out with future android and firmware updates.

I mailed mine out to them on the 5th using the overnight prepaid code they provided (not usually provided for RMAs) and got a message back on the 7th saying my replacement tablet and dock were on the way to me. Expected delivery to the east coast from California is the 14th. No other info as to if the returned tablet/dock have been tested and problems/solutions found.

I've seen a bunch of TF101s in the $260-280 range lately...do you folks think one of these is worth picking up? I see the processor is a bit outdated, but the Jelly Bean roms available look like they work well. I'm interested in the 10" size and SD-slot for this price range, both of which the Nexus 7 doesn't have.

going to be trading for a tf101 tonight cant wait to root and play around with it.
RUN AWAY!!!
I'd like to hope this is just my experience....but I'd avoid this tablet. It was the WORST purchase I've ever made.
The performance was lake-luster from the start. the first ICS firmware update brought my tablet to a screeching halt...and while the additional updates have made improvements and fixed a few issues, I still have major performance problems. These issue were NOT related to rooting...as I was trying NOT to root unless I absolutely had to (which I ultimately did just to have the tablet for use...it was that bad. I've tried two ROMs that are better and make it actually useful, but the headaches and the HOURS spent just weren't worth it.
1. Constant and frequent reboots...often in the middle of working on something
2. The sleep issue (which has improved....). Often when you let it "sleep", it goes into a "deep sleep"...you can't power it back up and it's fully running (but you can't see it or do anything)...so it drains the battery fast. Only fix was a cold linux reboot.
3. About 3-5 times a week...the tablet simply slows down...and when I say slow...I mean that every thing you do...(press a button, open a menu, select an option...anything) takes from 50-seconds to 3 minutes to complete (I timed them)...just getting to the app settings or an app that can tell you what is going on takes 20 minutes or longer. Only solution has been to try the cold-reboot...but that doesn't work about half the time...seriously. Can't even reboot. All I can find is...the acore process is running....twice. Both using 100% of the processor and memory. I haven't a clue what is going on there.
4. Rooting issue as well. Difficult to do, had multiple problems booting into and recovery..then probelsm with regular rebooting. See the forum for all the issues
5. Surprised I don't hear more about this problem....the IDIOTIC engineers at ASUS decided to label the root directory for the internal memory as microSD (supposedly because the tablet uses one internally for its memory) and the actual external memory card as Removable\MicroSD\..... Why this is a problem? Many of my apps that write, save, or use the SD card can't tell the difference and default to internal memory instead...because the root path is the same as 90% of all Android devices. I can't tell the apps to change the location... Two apps couldn't even function...as they couldn't find where to save data. My "internal" memory is almost full, and the removable SD card has tons of room. This issue holds true for most of the apps that allow you to move apps to the SD card...all they do is move the app data to the other partition of the internal memory...not the actual external SD card.
6. many, many more.
ASUS service....I really don't know why people think they are great. It has been terrible.
1. the average response time to any email service requests has been 3 weeks. Most of the responses weren't related to my problem.
2. No phone call ever resulted in an answer. They always default to "send it in"...which I did once...
3. The tablet was in their possession for two months. When returned...the small pieces of tape I placed over the power and other ports were still in place (evidence that no one had done anything to it) and the issues were still there. ASUS still refuses to acknowledge that nothing was fixed.
If I could afford it, I'd be switching ASAP. Like I said..this has been my experience.

Rooting was a piece of cake, i was rooted day one. Installing ROMS is dead simple and the tab is unbrickable.

That's funny since the tf101 had one of the highest rated lcd displays both for quality and use in sunlight. The screen on mine is gorgeous(yes new infinity is better) and brightness was more than enough to use on sunny days.
I heard the TF series are one of the best android tablets out there. Maybe not the tf101 anymore...lol

Well I decided to get a refurb'ed TF101 last night. It was well worth the price I think. Loving it so far. It had ICS out of the box but I rooted & installed Jelly Bean instantly. Rooting, etc. was a piece of cake. I went back to stock & then installed Revolution HD ROM because Jelly Bean is still a bit buggy for me (no fault of the devs, it's labeled Alpha). It runs great! Fast as can be, not seeing any lag anywhere!
It's only been a day but I've had 0 issues with this tablet.
just got mine love it thing flys and no problems except cant get cwm to install

Most of the reboot issues with ics were experienced by folks who refused to factory reset properly, that said some folks had issues, but I experienced almost none of these.
Rooting was a piece of cake, i was rooted day one. Installing ROMS is dead simple and the tab is unbrickable.
Performance compared to other tegra 2 was superior(still is).
Battery life is amazing
Customer support sucks across the board these days, but asus put out more useful updates than any other mainstream mfr.

As I stated, this was my experience. I do want to correct you on one thing.... you imply my reboot issues were the result of my carelessness or refusal to follow the correct procedures. I can assure you that this was not the case. I completed the required factory reset just as instructed (I've rooted 4 phones. and flashed ROMs as often as 2-3 times a week. This ain't my first goat rodeo.
I would have rather waited a few months longer for ASUS to update to 4.0 so they got it right the first time. The "useful" updates you refer to were to fix the poor 4.0 update. Seriously, the new features weren't worth this much hassle. Trust me, the only reason I sent it in was, I was too darn tired of dealing with it... figured it was their issue to fix. I sometimes think Android users are way to easy on the manufacturers... we just excuse it away and develop our own fixes, solutions, etc. We don't hold them accountable enough for serious problems and poor service. If/When Microsoft or Apple have these issues... you hear about. The consumer uproar is deafening. I wonder why that is? (I count myself in this as well)
Last thing... I mentioned the memory issue... this effects my nandroid backups as well. they take forever and weigh in 4 GBs each. They are having to back up all that "internal" data... which shouldn't be. beyond manually moving data to the removable card prior to back up and flashing .... still working on a better solution.
Enough... I've said my piece. Remember.... be good, or be good at it.

Never experienced any of these problems, expcept for #5 which is just a little design flaw.
If you don't need tegra3 quad core and FullHD resolution, the TF101 is still good to go. 720p is still a bit dodgy on stock kernel. JB is on its way, but is hardly a usable rom (for me). ICS is still good enough.
Update
Thread, but in case anyone goes looking for info about this tablet.....
The issues and bugs continued, some minor, and some VERY big, making the tablet almost unusable.
Finally, two weeks AFTER the warranty expired, the processor fried. Just set it down to get a drink, came back 5 minutes later to dead, nothing. Three experienced techs all independently diagnosed a dead processor.
So in a word...The ASUS Transformer Pad 101 was a worthless piece of garbage.

Wow, I had no idea worthless piece of garbage is one word.
My warranty has been out for 8 months and it is still running Android 4.2.2 just as smoothly as a Nexus 7 or Nexus 10. IMO, it is a solid device.
If I were buying today, I do not think I would spend more than $150 on the tablet, or $250 if it comes with a keyboard dock myself, I would get a newer tablet.

Lol. Exactly... It was an amazing tablet when it came out, it's still a very good tablet 2 full years later. Yes, it was released 2 years ago (well, 21 months). I own 2, that I bought refurbished with the dock (also refurb), and haven't had a single hardware issue. I also know 2 other people that own one, and they also haven't had any hardware issues. Based on posts here on XDA, Asus will almost always blindly replace your defective parts even if you're rooted, rom'ed, etc as long as you're still under warranty.
As a contrast, I have 4 co-workers that bought the Nexus 7. Three of them had to RMA it within 2 months, and one of those had to buy a new one because Google/Asus kept throwing each other the ball and no one wanted to honor the warranty. Only one had a trouble-free tablet.
That being said, your CPU fried for a reason, CPUs don't simply "stop working". I've been working in IT for over 15 years and I have yet to see that happen. I'm not saying it's something you did, or didn't do, as I have no way of knowing. But there was an other problem that caused it to stop working (overvoltage, short, etc). I know at this point it's too little too late and I'm not here to do Asus PR, but chances are it would have happened eventually regardless of how long the warranty was. Just sucks it happened right when the warranty stopped...
Right now, as of March 2013, I don't see any tablet that can compare quality/price ratio to what this one was 2 years ago. Either all overpriced brands or cheap replicas.
i bought this tablet in Black Friday 2011 in an severely overcrowded and riot police-requiring Best Buy and I'm still happy as i can be with it. The hacking community still supports it and I find that there's frequently something new to update it with even if Asus itself has abandoned it. If anyone finds it on the REALLY cheap like $150 or so, i heavily recommend it. I haven't had any issues with it other than some Word-adaptation apps working weird sometimes.
According to Antutu benchmark, the tf300 only performs 50% above the tf101, just so you can have some comparative perspective.
Bought my TF101 back in 2011 when they first came out. I got lucky and found an "open box" unit at best buy with the dock included for $100 less than new (at the time).
It's worked great ever since, regardless of running Honeycomb, ICS or rooted with custom JB 4.2.2 ROM. It doesn't seem to care and has run consistently better with every upgrade. It still has enough hp to do all the things I use it for (games, youtube, HD movies, browsing, fb, the list goes on...). and I will continue to use it for a long time yet. Especially if it continues to receive support from dev's here on Xda with great/stable ROMs.
I love the full keyboard dock and love the crazy-long battery life. It's still a great tablet IMO and well worth $250 with a dock.

Looking for user reviews

Hi guys,
How are you finding your TF101, they've gone on discount recently and are falling in my budget, wanted your feedback..
what are the things you like and dislike? Does it lag? My measurement of lag is how quickly does the stock browser loads and how quickly you can enter app drawer? That should be absolutely instant imo..but that's just me..
I'm currently using Samsung GS1 user, so been playing around, hacking the phone for a good time and now its really showing its age, those little lags of 1-2 seconds here there just get on your nerves..
How active is custom development?
Anyway, thought I'll ask XDA community of there feedback as I value your opinion more than what the editorials write or what the sales rep says.
Thanks!
First off if your talking about age of your phone starting to get lag why would a tablet your going to buy be one that's already starting to age. I bought mine when it was one of the only tablets out and still use it and love it. If I was buying today however would of course get a newer faster model. As to custom development can't you just go open the development section and get an idea of what's going on. I have only personally used the Stock custom roms like Android revolution and are perfect for me. I don't like switching roms in fear of losing game saves lol. I have seen jellybean roms becoming stable though. I do experience little lags every now and then like you mention but i have had that happen on any kind of technology I own at some point. I mainly enjoy this tablet over others because of the keyboard and amazing battery life.

My TF101 (B60) is the only tablet i've ever bought (Only bought it because of the dock) and its still going strong, there is a very big difference between the stock and the custom roms/kernels that have been developed for it, in terms of performance the custom roms/kernels have made a mind blowingly huge performance increase(this isn't an overstatement) i'm on Team EOS 3 (Jelly Bean) with K.A.T kernel and id have no problems saying that this rom is around twice as smooth compared with stock. Many of us under this configuration have reached quadrant scores matching the TF300t (thats a quad core tegra 3 while the TF101 is only a dual core) also afaik there isn't a better device to install Ubuntu on. I can't see the point in upgrading to TF300t from a TF101, but if you own neither of these devices, personally i'd go for the TF300t as they are only a slight bit more money and they come with a warranty (The only deciding factor imo).
I honestly hardly get on this part of xda but you make me want to go away from stock lok

Give it a try just make sure you do a backup first, so if you go back all your game saves etc are saved, try team EOS jelly bean #74 with the K.A.T kernel. you'll find it hard to go back lol

++1 on the team EOS JB 4.1 roms i couldnt believe how much faster and smoother it was than ICS. even at stock 1Ghz clock speed it was better than ICS at 1.6Ghz. I would definitely recommend this tablet to anyone. and with the keyboard it even better. gives you another full sized sd port and two usb ports plus tons of extra power. with this you can really get experiment with a lot of different things easily.
I'll try to give them a go. I just don't wanna use something I'm going to have to install every week. I usually start doing that on my phones and gets out on hand

I've had my tablet since July of last year. As a tablet, it's awesome, and I do like the dock.. but I ended up not using the dock as much as I thought I would. Although, honestly, unless the price of the tablet+dock drops below $150, I feel like you're better off getting one of the newer tablets just because of hardware's sake. Otherwise, you aren't really getting your money's worth.
(I use my tablet for watching movies, redditing, I used to take notes with it but it's just easier to take physical notes now, and mostly reading PDFs.)

I've had my 101 for quite some time now, and had only recently decided to buy the Infinity. While my infinity is being fixed I switched back to my 101. It is on stock ICS, only thing not stock is that it is rooted. Other then that it is stock. Side by side I've found no difference in speed (or lag as you call it) between the 2.
As far as development, I would say that as of now it is slow, but that is waiting for a GOOD version of Jellybean to arrive, then of course I am sure the devs will kick in the gears and start pushing out some quality ROM's.
Honestly if you can get a TF101 on a good deal, then I would have to say take the deal. Of course the more internal memory is going to be better, because sadly unlike most Android phones, you can not move the apps to the external sd card. (at least not reliably in my eyes.)
I've found that my 101 with wifi & blue tooth left on constantly, even when not in use, I only have to charge up about every other day, but that is more of because I do use it quite extensively.
If you can get the keyboard dock, those are great, especially for long flights (more then a couple hours), as I tend to watch my stored movies and tv shows on it and the keyboard dock gives it that extra weight for sitting up, and the extra battery time. I've been seeing them on ebay lately NEW for around $70.00 + freight.
1 other thing you might want to keep in mind also is that MOST 12v adapters with USB charge points do NOT provide enough power to charge the tablet. I ended up buying a OEM car charger for mine. Couple that with a good car cradle, and your favorite GPS software, I use Waze. And you have a VERY LARGE turn by turn GPS screen. Just make sure to turn the GPS off when not using it, as I have found that it was the biggest killer of my battery.
All in all I love my TF101, and unfortunately due to an internal problem with my Infinity, I've lost a bit of love for the Infinity.
With cm10 installed the tf101 is very fast, fluid and without lags.
I recommend it if you find a low price.
The TF101 has two batteries as long as you buy the keyboard with the touchpad. Those two batteries provide up to 16 hours of use. The screen is high res and with the custom roms and so forth it should serve anyone well who isn't trying to do video editing and / or HD gaming on it.
As a unit for Skype, email, web browsing, kindle reader, angry bird (tho that game isn't entirely stable on mine), various board games, bible software, and more... it's great. I got mine for $225 w/ keyboard and that price made a big difference for a guy on a missionary budget.
Hope that helps.
Blessings.

Lack of app's,so still getting nexus 10?

Hey there guys
The nexus 10 reviews are finally out.
What do all review's negative have in common? No apps...
So this is worrying me a lot
Yes gameloft is making nexus 10 games so, will i get more nexus 10 apps in future? should i get this tablet?
Well the new playstore updates supports the xxhdp display solo yeah all the apps work there over 700000 apps

apps
I'm not worried about the app selection, The apps that i uses are made by big companies and I am sure they will be updated quickly. Once a group of devs gets a hand on a tablet or two thing will fly. They will purchase them the same time that we do. I don't have a ton of apps on my android devices, just a mix of some for work and play. A list other than Google products that I would put on my tablet, are made by Rovio, Slacker, Adobe, Evernote, XDA!, and a few website apps. The only real app I am concerned about would be apps for my local news and weather stations. If i was a tablet gamer I might be a bit concerned at first, but for me If I can surf the web at high speeds, and have music and movies playing for entertainment on long road trips with battery life to spare I am happy. This hardware is new and cutting edge, but will be a new standard for other manufactures to compete with, so more apps will be out there in time.

It's not no apps.only some apps which have low graphics won't work well.... for the time being
No problem for me. My main usage is watching videos and reading comics. Also I believe app developper will provide tablet optimized nice apps for N10 and N7.
I'm not so worried about App selection as I am usability. I recently bought the Transformer Prime TF700t, it's a nice tablet with monster specs and was the only decently designed 1080p android tablet, however Windows 8 is now out (I' not referring to RT, not really interested in the RT version because of lack of apps).
There are 3 major choices you should consider when looking at tablets this holiday:
1: Nexus 10
2: iPad 4
3: Windows 8 PRO
App selection is obviously the best on the new iPad, 2nd going to android and lastly going to Windows, but Windows 8 PRO DOES run all of the older windows 7 apps. SO if you want to run ANYTHING on your tablet (almost anything you use as a windows user), for power users that's a definite win.
So that's why I'm really really considering windows 8. As I type this I'm realizing more and more that windows 8 still won't have a lot of tablet-optimized apps making most of the tablet experience kind of a fail, and only using the windows mode would really be useful (for me), I'm talking myself into the Nexus 10 becau 2560X1600 SOUNDS AMAZING!
Best not to compare usability between TF700 and the N10. Aside from the poor app selection being the same, this is a different beast. Also, the way Holo works, I think with Android phones leading the front we ought to see apps that at the very least don't look crap on the tablet.
I'm not worried about the app situation. As others have said in different threads, Android's scalability really changes things so it isn't the same issue that it was on the Mac when they had only a few tablet apps. Second, now with the N7 and N10 I expect we'll see a lot more apps, particularly the good ones, designed with these tablets in mind.
Dev
I'm a developer, I'm getting a Nexus 10. That has to be good for everyone else, I'm sure other devs will be doing the same.
N10 will be a hit. Developers will pump out apps. There is a lot of cash to be made if this becomes the industry standard.
The market really dictates if apps are made for Android or not. When tablets first came out it was only iPad, therefore, all tablet apps were made for iPad. As Android tablets got more accepted and are now a major presence in the tablet world, market demand dictates that if you want your app to be widely used, you will make it tablet compatible for iOS and Android. What is really difficult for developers is the huge fragmentation in Android both phones and tablets. If you make an app for iPad, you only have to make it for the 7 and 10, both running the same OS. If you want to make an app for Android you have to make it for N number of tables made by N number of manufactures, many of which are running different OS versions.
There are already many great tablet enabled apps for Android tablets, over the last 6 months I have actually seen developers come out with tablet updates for their apps. Don't worry, if you buy an N10, you won't have issues getting use out of it.
Of curse you should get the Nexus 10!! The apps gonna come out eventually don't worrie.
