Thanks for your feedback! Does your battery last an entire day with moderate use? I am not really a heavy gamer. I just usually surf the internet and some social media apps.
By the way, kindly answer the poll above. Thank you so much!

I agree with dark nvidia also in my testing on a rooted z5 I get 8-9 hours on constant screen on time from 100%-0% is 8H of HD movie content / gaming to have to charge my device for 2h for 100% to start all over again I would say I'm a very heavy user and I have for the the first time since my Nokia 23210 I only have to charge this thing once a day! I bet an average user could get away with even more!

8h screen on time that's pretty dope
Read that battery life was just average
Envoyé de mon Nexus 6P en utilisant Tapatalk

With moderate use (emails, playing music [yay mSD cards!!!], and some video streaming), I usually get close to two full days out of a charge on my Z5. If I unplug at 8:00 am, on a normal day I'm at between 48-54% by midnight.

By the way, does any body experience that your Z5 rear glass cracked even without falling? I read some comments about it and I am also kinda worried it might happen.

Happy new year

Same to you. Still got 6.5 hours in Boston.
My opinion, Z5 definitely worth the investment.

Simply put, it can do everything the other phones can, with the addition of having the most advanced video camera ever. It's too bad the reviews just glossed over this important feature. Sigh. If one is willing to pay $600+ for a Samsung or Apple, why not get one that can actually take good video as well?

Nope, just saw the reviews. Z5's closed-loop actuator is simply way better than OIS for video. For example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxSHVca3MFM
DXOMark said the Z5 is the only phone with good video stabilization.

is this a joke? 8 hours sot? best phone ever? what?
Im happy with my phone and its worth the money IMO but this thread is full of misinformation. Coming from a note 4 the only thing i miss is the bigger screen.

I've got my Z5 from october when I renew contract with operator, so cost me much less than normal. But if i had to buy Z5 for the normal price I wouldn't buy it at all ATM. For me this phone isn't worth such of money. Better wait till prices goes down or buy Z3. Thats my opinion.

What misinformation are you referring to?

You should not think that 8 hour SOT is normal
I get like 4 hours or maybe 5 but not more. In 24 Hours
With my S6 it's 3 hours SOT in 12 hours.
So the Z5 battery is much better
Gesendet von meinem E6653 mit Tapatalk

Having upgraded through most of the Xperia range and I have to say, the Z5 is the best yet. Good (not great) battery life, lovely screen and a fast, almost AOSP-style OS. Add to that decent camera, accurate fingerprint scanner, SD slot and no more flappy covers for the micro-USB slot and I think we have a winner.
Just needs more development.

8 hours sot is pretty much bull**** and im sorry but it doesnt have the best camera... far from it

Back to reality..
I am still deciding whether to keep or not this phone, I am badly needing a new one since my trusty HTC one charge is not enough to run half a day at my current needs.
So I thought I try the z5, as others mentioned like the clean ui, camera and dedicated shutter button, fingerprint reader placement, quick charge, fast reacting as expected and many others. What's less to like is camera's low light capability and the fact that the camera app reacts way slowlier than my 3yo phone. Coming to battery life, I was expecting the advertised 5h sot. Surely, only a week in, I have even fully cold charged it aka recalibrating the battery if a phone this new ever needed it.
These are screenshots I just took a few moments ago. I was using lately lux for controlling brightness, usually below the 50% mark.

In my opinion the battery life is better if you don't play with it.
Maybe there is something wrong with your phone.
Don't calibrate, or change anything in system. Just use it.
Im at 3:30 hour SOT since the last 17 hours. GPS on high accuracy.
Facebook had the highest usage with 27%.
I think the batter life is very good if I delete Facebook

Looks too good man, nice battery.
Well, battery looks like to be similar to Z1. It's 40% @ 3h 24m screen on time, so it should be 5-6 hours screen on, like my Z1.

I think it'll do better than that. Z1 can only go for 4 hours max with auto sync, 3G and WiFi on.
I hope so. Anyway, im very happy with my Z1 batter life, more then happy.
As long as it can hold a whole day, I'll be happy. It can't be worse than my Nexus 4 not even holding a whole day.

So with 2600mAh battery HTC just did a great job of 71 hour endurance,
do you think that with 3200mAh battery Sony will do much longer cause it runs in the same chip set and all.
Xperia Z2's display is slightly bigger than the HTC One(M8).

The Z1 came up pretty short despite the 3000mAh, so Sony needs massive improvement over efficiency. I think it's doable on the HW front, big question mark is the screen that let the Z & Z1 down. Fingers crossed.

I don't know how sony managed to screw the battery life on the Z1, that battery is huge and yet it underperforms, I hope history won't repeat itself with the Z2 :crying:

It is the screen, the best example is the Xperia Z1 Compact. it's doing a good job with 6hours of screen on time.

2 Days of Battery Life, That's what they promised

As you all know The Sony Xperia Z5 series is said to be able to last for 2 days. As long as the device is not released yet, we just have to wait to prove it.
So, as I searching around in Youtube, I've found this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxYhhkWgQx0
I was stunned. What !? 2 Days on Z3+ ? It's ridiculously impossible !
in my normal use my Z3+ only last for 3-3.5 hours of screen time, 4 if lucky.
and the goddamn heat issue is still there, even worst you can notice performance dropped dramatically when CPU gets hot.
To be clear I never use Stamina mode, as it decrease frame rate (Which on my old Z1, it is never happened. Back then I always enabled Stamina mode)
therefore, The fact that Z5 series still use SD810 (even they have dual heat pipe) , I don't think 2 days of battery life is going to be possible.
Or they might be a chance that they would successfully fix both the battery and heat issue on upcoming 5.1.1 (maybe that's why they delayed it)
So, Let's hope
Let's hope for that but still waiting for 5.1.1 for z3+
ME
When have manufacturers not exaggerated their devices' battery life? I didn't think anybody took those claims at face value.
Two days is possible with light use.
I usually have like 1,5h of screen on time and 15% battery after ~20 hours. Stamina mode does literally nothing for my battery life, if something it gets worse.
I don't know how Sony usually rolls but if I were them I'd go directly for 6.0 and skip 5.1.1.

Since last charge i've got 2h15mins of SOT, And 19hours total Idletime - Battery is at 58% now. For me it's okay. Depends on your usage profile and if you are on Wifi or on mobile data (once again, look up the "mobile radio active bug". Maybe a Mod should make a Sticky with this and the PC Companion Repair to fix Overheating...).
As @[NUMINIT] said all the manufacturers lie about the battery life but they lie too much about this particular phone. It doesn't even last 1 day. My Z1 was a really great phone, this one is like something to half way.
With light use, I can easily get 1 1/2 days out of this phone. Your experience may differ based on different usage preferences and patterns.
Can I ask what you're hoping to get out of this thread?

The crucial thing is they say "up to " meaning it not definenent but it can last up to 2 days ,I use mine for work and does good job in this role ,I get 2 days and about 2 hours screen time but every device and user experience is different, still doesn't beat my old z3c at battery life
Another thing : if battery life seems so bad far you, why not posting a Screenshot of the battery stats and usage in the battery life thread? This whole "this device sucks" - things is getting on My nerves.

Mine too, but hey, it's easier to ***** than actually look for a solution.
If you don't use Stamina, chances are good you have the mobile radio active bug. I use it and get around 4-5 days. Last Firmware were only two days. I don't have lag or unusual heat as well.
Done a factory reset?
Gesendet von iPad mit Tapatalk
It says = 1 day 19 hours 4 minutes
Only 5 hours to go
One more proof. It exceeds 2 days. BURN!
All I want is to share my experience and yeah, I kinda *****y about it
But hey, I didn't get the phone for free. I do think I have right to complain about the issue.
I'm glad for those who are not facing this problem. you are lucky bastard.
I will wait for new FW to see if it solve the problem. If not, maybe it's time to say goodbye with Sony
Guys, check out the battery life thread for nasty lollipop bug called 'mobile radio active'. My Xperia Z2's battery life was legendary on Kitkat & then it hit the rock bottom when lollipop came out. Same issue with my Z3+, S6 & unfortunately I don't have the option to downgrade these two to kitkat. Lollipop is the only reason why all 2015 phones' battery life sucks big time. Z3+ battery life is still a lot better than S6's if you're into heavy browsing. You'd be lucky to get anything better than this until Google fixes this bug.
It's been told here multiple times - few things you could do to improve battery life
1. Always close all apps (from the MT window) before locking screen while you're on mobile data
2. If you're on wifi 24/7, turn off mobile data permanently
3. Use 2.5GHz Wifi instead of 5Gz if possible
4. Make sure 'Screen' is on top of the battery usage list. Otherwise, you got radio active bug or something else that's draining battery. That said, 'cell standby' tops my list occasionally if I don't use it for a long time. It doesn't affect heavy users but Sony needs to work on that.
5. For past Xperia owners, Z3+ screen is much brighter than Z2, Z1. In order to get Z2 like battery performance, you have to lower the brightness. If you leave the brightness slider at 'zero' with adaptive brightness on, it's still much brighter than Z2 & drains a lot of battery. Stick to lower manual brightness if possible.
6. Root
Sony said up to 2 days. So it is not 2 days. It depends on your usage. My sometimes gets 2 days but if I use it more I can get 1 to 1.5 days..
1.5 days is a lot (for me 1/3 of a day is so much), I am working in a very hot place (Mérida México) and I can take one or two pictures then it get's almost on fire and the app closes, video is a shame pain lag, I can not record 5 seconds... if the app didn't close the video looks like a sequence of photo shots... my first nokia 3250 with symbian makes me happier in that era.
Sony:
Like @ing005 say it's time to say goodbye to you and your new "super" spec's devices, you are using us and we have to pay for tasting.

Marshmallow Battery life discussion LG-G4

Hi! Can you share your personal experiences of battery life using android 6 on G4? With details like, SOT, network used and signal strenght, tweaks applied on phone, background running apps? And it improved over Lollipop?
Thanks!
(And sorry for my bad bad english)
I'm upgrade today to marshmallow so i will post my opinion in day or two. So far i'm hapy with upgrade.
Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
Not sure Doze is working on my Marshmallow build.
I just switched from a Nexus 5 on 6.0 to this LG G4 and the Marshmallow ROMs don't hold a candle to the Nexus 5 in battery drain overnight.
Nexus 5 lost 1-2% overnight Dozing with a 2 year old tiny battery...the G4 lost 5-6% last night with a bigger brand new battery.
I suspect there's bugs to work out still.
I also switched from N5, 1 year and 9 month old, and had the initial feeling that the battery is not that great, but it was a placebo, N5 was super optimised, using Elementalx kernel, doze, Tasker, greenify vs G4 barely rooted and some bloatware removed. Actually G4 gives me 5 to 6h of SOT, while N5 was 3,5 to 5h. So if I look at the numbers G4 has the better battery life, even not being optimised for that.

Should be half that.
Give it a few more charge cycles for battery to get conditioned.
I m more and more happy with battery life. On lollipop i usual have 1 hour less screen time. My setup is wifi and 3g are always on sync, bluetooth and gps today are off all the time. My SOT is 4h 50 min with 8% battery left. So far so good.

My new S7 has better battery life than the POS Note 4 i traded in, usually the battery is depleted by the time i get home from work every single day in the last 2 years, now I have 50% left with the new S7, loving it.
I just picked up an s7 on Saturday. I'm not impressed with the battery life so far. Android system is the top battery consumer. I came from the nexus 6p and Android system was never high on the list. Also, it doesn't show up as a top battery consumer on my girlfriends s6.

I REALLY like this phone size, speed, screen, camera, etc. Almost everything is great, which is saying a lot because this is my first non-rooted phone and I was nervous about it. I've disabled the Verizon and Samsung apps I don't care for, so I am good there. The problem is, battery life is pretty bad considering how much it was raved. My LG G3 could easily get the same battery life/SOT. I'm on wifi 85% of the day, good signal strength, yet I barely can get 2.5-3hrs screen time and ALWAYS have to charge during the day. Like others, the Android OS is what's killing my battery. I am within my 14 day return window, and I am starting to think the issues won't be fixed, so it might be time to consider a different phone. Hoping for some help or suggestions here.
Just got this phone yesterday this is my first cycle. I'm not sure why you're getting 2.5-3 I almost got 6hrs and all LTE too... Mostly gaming and browsing some streaming YouTube to my car with blutotooth. I'm very impressed so far even though Android system still showed up on mine as a top consumer. I'll try to get 6hrs screen time if I turn on power saving maybe

Did you guys do any disabling? Do you have push email or push exchange, location, etc? I have moderate battery life - about 2.5 hrs SOT on a 17-18 hr charge cycle. I would expect to get better SOT if I used it more often, but obviously at the expense of overall battery life.
I think Android System hides a long t of battery hogs - I think lots of apps will wake the phone to sync or perform background activity or notfy, which gets caught as Android system.

Disabling apps that aren't really needed really help in my opinion with battery life. Disabling location history helps. Turning off some of those unneeded wifi search settings helps too. I turned off the always on display. I think my record was something around 4 hours of screen on time. Using the gear s2 smartwatch I got in the mail from Verizon really decreased my battery life. I am exploring ways to fix that since i really like the watch.

Got an update now, not sure what it is yet.

My prediction on the OnePlus 3T Dev support

Once people get a chance to see the incredible performance and battery and compare it with the competition in terms of value, this phone will take the lead in 2017 in regards to development. If OnePlus is smart and they comp all the great devs a device for Christmas it will sell them 1000 phones for every 1 they give away!

Hope OnePlus is watching this thread
This is my first OnePlus phone and I'm extremely impressed. I've owned a note 3-5, S6, nexus 6 & 6p, and a few others not even worth mentioning. This is the best phone in my opinion especially dollar for dollar vs. the competition.

Yeah, I'm fully with you there and really hope the thing Oneplus announced to be up their sleeve for the devs is in this line. In hindsight it may have been wiser for Oneplus to get the OP3 devs onto the OP3T-boat before making the official switch.
Tyranus kernel by mdalexca gave me 12 hours SOT without even trying to save battery in any way. 0% drain overnight without turning anything off but the screen.
In 44 minutes charging time I was back up to 80% and that was with the screen on and using it normally. Temperature has NEVER gotten over 92° Fahrenheit in the 4 days I have had it so far.

Bloody hell! I can barely get 6 hours screen on time
OP3T is phone of the year, if OP release the sources and the dev kicks off, it's even way ahead of the Pixel.

Very happy with it, first 3 days.
Only downfall so far is lack of roms
I'm unlocked, rooted, and have all the apps I ever need. Right now I am super happy, of course with custom roms that's a plus but as-is right now I'm pretty set.
This is an interesting phone based upon the specs and the cost. Will this be the next "Nexus" great value phone? The Pixel phones are just too damn expensive in my opinion. I have the Nexus 6p, coming from the Samsung line, and what I've liked about the Nexus, is the developer support for good quality full feature ROMS.
keep in mind, the 3T was quickly out of stock.
might happen that some devs dont have one yet.
but we are still at the beginning, it takes some time as usual.
Yep, I was looking to buy this phone for my wife and I, but it's out of stock. Hoping it'll be available sooner than 4 weeks from now. =/
they promised that it will be dev friendly and they are working to not split a dev scene, that what he said at the presentation of 3T and also at AMA. WHere is this dev friendly thing? Why roms are not compatible even if it is almost same phone?....
I rather wonder what happened to that patience thing.
I'm sad for the decision that oneplus made. I first wanted to order the Oneplus 3 but when the 3T came out I don't buy either of them. I can't choose between the better phone and the better developer supported. Oneplus should send 10 phones to developers so they can sell the phone more. Right Oneplus 3 is more than enough for everyday task but you know...
I'm like the majority of smartphone buyers, just want a great device without rooting or hacking it.
I do consider it icing on the cake to be able to though. I want the freedom to what I want with the device I purchase. Not locked down and forced to accept whatever the manufacturer AND carrier dictate.
But as is, I'm happy stock, unrooted. So far I never rooted my Nexus 6P so I'm not sure if I'll ever care enough to root/flash on my 3T.

Good to see OnePlus starting strong with the OnePlus 3T development. @flar2 and @franciscofranco and hopefully many more devs are getting devices soon.
