Hello!
Long story short, I bought a dual SIM Edge+ (G9287) but found out I can't use my second SIM in it.
I tried flashing Audax ROM which doesn't have support for my model and it worked just fine, but couldn't detect my SIM card (even though I'm only using one).
So my question is, can I use SM-G9287C firmware on my G9287 and then flash some ROM? Will it work or will it brick my phone?

Just curious, when you couldn't use your second sim, were you on stock firmware? If yes, did you enable the 2nd SIM in settings? Setting->SIM Card Manager -> 2nd SIM and turn it on with the toggle.
My phone is G9287C which is a dual sim as well, there's a workaroud to make the dual sim work on CRISSCROSS ROM, though I'm not sure if the same goes for other ROMs. However if the 2nd SIM doesn't work with stock firmware, I believe it wouldn't work other ROMs too.
Naw I couldn't use the second SIM because it's from my work phone, I work for the government and they got retarded protection so I couldn't set up my email and few other things and they also forbid removing SIM cards from their phones. So I had to accept not using the second SIM card.
But when I flashed Audax then I was not using stock firmware, although I was using older G9287 firmware (J7, since it was apparently the only way to be able to successfully flash custom recovery as my old K5 would just re-flash stock recovery after every restart). Still, it would not recognize my home SIM regardless if it was in slot 1 or 2.

Not sure if it works, but worth trying:
1. Get these 3 files from your stock firmware under folder /system/lib64/
i. libril.so
ii. libsec-ril.so
iii. libsec-ril-dsds.so
then copy to the same folder and overwrite the files after you flashed the custom ROM. Make sure those 3 files are in -rw-r--r-- format. Wait 20 seconds see if the signal icon appears on the status bar.
2. If signal icon does not appear, flash other kernels like arter97 or anything.
3. You might need to flash the radio/baseband "modem.bin" from your stock firmware.

Thanks for trying to help, but I was looking for an answer if the phone will work normally with a firmware from one of the single SIM models
If it works, then I can just flash it and then use pretty much any Edge+ ROM without having to edit much.

Ah, my apologies for not reading your question properly. Just for your reference tho, I have only tried Crisscross and Kos ROM and both didn't detect my SIM card. I believe the same goes for all other ROM since they only support single SIM variants, reason being the baseband and RIL are different from ours.
Ahh so I guess not even flashing firmware from a single SIM model would work :/
Last time I'm buying dual SIM anything.

I have also SM-G9287C (dual sim) and I am interested to flash custom ROMs. So far no custom ROM for my dual sim phone is available so I have to flash single sim custom ROM. My question is, will your method work with every custom single sim ROM?
And how to flash radio/baseband "modem.bin"?

I don't know if it would be able to run every custom rom. But as far as I know, my phone is able to run Crisscross rom 1.8 smoothly (haven't tried the latest one 1.9.1) without any hiccups.
Regarding "modem.bin," get the stock firmware from sammobile G9287CDXU2AOK1 (this is the latest one but any stock rom in tar.md5 format will do). Open the file and extract modem.bin (can be done with 7-zip). The Crisscross rom 1.8 doesn't overwrite the baseband (the latest 1.9.1 might wipe the baseband) so this step is just optional and if anything goes wrong you can do this afterwards. If your current baseband is G9287CDXU2AOK2, you can leave this step.
Remember the step 1 I've mentioned in the post earlier is the most important step of the 3.
p/s: I also did this tweak on my phone and it runs even smoother, http://forum.xda-developers.com/s6-edge-plus/general/root-ram-management-multitasking-fix-t3228917
I have 9287 using dual sim and only one card can use 4g while another is 2g only did u check the gsm frequency is supported by your carrier http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consumer/mobile/smartphones/galaxy-s/SM-G9287ZDUTGY

Fenrir_ac,
I am also on the 9287. I tried installing CrissCross 1.8 and 1.91 and both times they made my baseband version Unknown and it couldn't read my SIM. I installed a clean stock ROM before i installed both 1.8 and 1.91. I then tried installing the modem.bin from a stock ROM using Odin and the CP option and that didnt work either. Can you please put a detailed description on this thread how to get CrissCross working on a 9287. Thanks!

It's worth to note that my phone is g9287c variant, not g9287 without the letter "c" at the end. It is still a dual sim variant, I faced the very same issues before (sim card not detected on both slots), and therefore I'm just assuming the fix that I did on my phone MIGHT work with your phone too. I'm not a developer so I have no idea what risk would involve in doing this. If you still wish to do so please do it at your own risk.
Few Questions:
1. Are you on stock ROM now? What is your current bootloader version?
2. It makes me wonder why your baseband became "unknown". Did you flash "modem and bootloader" file provided on the CRISSCROSS ROM thread? If yes, please DON'T flash it on your next attempt.
3. When you flash Crisscross ROM 1.8, did you dirty flash instead of clean flash?
4. Did you port over the 3 RIL files ( in the /system/lib64 folder that I mentioned in earlier post) from the stock ROM after flashing Crisscross ROM? It's the most important thing to do.
Here's what I did to make CRISSCROSS 1.8 to work on my phone.
1. Get the latest stock ROM and flash it on my phone, extract the modem.bin file just in case.
2. Update the stock ROM (if there's any) with the built-in software update.
3. Backup somewhere these 3 files from /system/lib64 folder (MOST IMPORTANT STEP!)
i. libsec-ril.so
ii. libsec-ril-dsds.so
iii. libril.so
After back up, flash TWRP with ODIN.
4. DIRTY Flash CRISSCROSS ROM 1.8 through TWRP recovery. I did not flash the latest 1.9 since its a requirement to perform a data wipe.
5. I did not flash the "modem and bootloader" provided in the CRISSCROSS thread.
6. Wipe dalvik and cache after flashing CRISSCROSS ROM. Reboot system and wait until the phone is ready to use.
7. Move the 3 backed up files earlier and overwrite it to the same folder (/system/lib64). Make sure the three files are in -rw-r--r-- format. I'm not sure if root is required for this as it involves overwriting system files.
8. Wait 30 seconds until signal indicator magically appears on the status bar (Only one SIM will work at this stage. The provided AUDAX kernel does not support dual SIM).
9. Reboot to recovery and flash the latest arter97 kernel (v11).
10. I did not flash modem.bin through ODIN since I found that the Crisscross Rom flash did not touch my baseband.
11. Reboot system and turn on your second SIM option in Settings>SIM Card Manager.
Hopefully this will work on your phone. As usual, do a nandroid backup before performing this just in case.
1. I am currently on stock ROM, J7. This was the only Firmware that allowed me to root. Bootloader Verison G9287ZHU2AOJ7
2. I did not do that. All I did was install the zip file in recovery. How am i supposed not to install those files.
3. I did a clean flash on both attempts.
4. No I didnt. I need to do that next.
I will attempt this sometime this week and give you feedback. Thanks for the write up. I also have a problem with artex kernal and Audax kernal where it causes major lag issues for my Gear VR so it looks like i have to use a modified stock kernal.

I'm putting together a walkthrough of how through much trial and error I came up with, in my opinion, the best way to get Darky's awesome new rom onto our Canadian Galaxy i9000M that is infamous for crashing hard, with the least amount of risk possible.
**this will take a day or two as I have a busy life...just want to help some people in my spare time so don't get mad because I'm only starting with the introduction. **
Short version (From stock i9000M 2.2 JL2):
1. Download:
Darkys rom v8.0
Latest Odin
Speedmod K12O hz=500 (Odin version not CWM!)
Superoneclick root
2. Plug in your phone, enable usb debugging, run oneclickroot, hit root. Wait for everything to finish. Disconnect. Rooted!
3. Reboot download mode. Use Odin to flash only the .tar file from speedmod as the PDA leaving everything else unchecked. Wait for reboot.
4. Put Darkys rom on root of sdcard.
5. Download rom manager from market, flash latest recovery. Reboot recovery using app.
6. Select zip using recovery and apply. Voila! Done!
7. **These are only quick instructions for someone who has basic knowledge of flashing a rom and lacks many minor but VERY important details! If you are unsure of what you are doing or have never done it before do not attempt this!!.
I only posted this because myself and it appears a few others have had a.much less painful experience by first flashing the speedmod kernel before Darkys rom. A detailed instruction for brand new flashers with no experience will follow when I have the time
A more detailed guide is available here:

The SAFEST way to Flash Darky's or any Custom rom would be this order.
1. Flash JL2 , the new .SBL (Secondary Boot Loader) included with JL2 is believed to fix the dreaded internel SD death's that so many of us had.
2.Download latest Darky's Rom and make a folder on your phone name it what ever you want and put the rom in there, you can also leave the rom in downloads if you downloaded it directly to the phone.
3. Flash Hardcores Kernel with ODIN.
4.Boot device into CWM recovery, Root device it's in the advance options.
5. Install Darky's rom , using Install zip from SD method in CWM recovery.
6.done.

if my phone is still with me (currently being thrown around by samsung)
this is the method I would use as well.
Yes this is roughly the method I used. I was nervous but it was pretty easy.
From JL2 stock you basically just need to Odin flash hardcore's kernel and then you can install whatever compatible .zip(s) you want in recovery mode (as well as root or apply tweaks).
I did a doc rom first and since I have updated the kernel and downgraded wifi drivers. No random force closes yet at all, the new board (and JL2 sbl) have my 10.08 unit running flawlessly so far.
Trying not to go too flash crazy. Although some would say to do the opposite and see if the phone will die under warranty, I think the hardware is fine but don't want the pain of trying to recover from messed up flash. So I'm waiting for a significant release before flashing a whole new base.
I just flashed darkys 902 rom and using darkys config picked speedmod (I dont like voodoo). Worked good, but had to flash JL2 modem to get 850 back. I usually run the JL2 modem anyway, just because it seems to give me the best battery life and good GPS.

Hello...just trying to get an understanding before I proceed.
1. I will be receiving a new handset from Samsung. If it already has JL2 with a newer date, do I still need to flash SBL or do the latest phones come out with a fixed SBL?
2. Ok.
3. On these particular Bell phones, is HardCores kernel the best choice or basically install what ever kernel I want to get a feel of what I like?
4. CWM, is it just a different interface or program similiar to stock recovery mode?
Thanks in advance.

Ok, I bought a Bell phone, wanting to use on Rogers, but I didn't realize the severity of this internal sdcard problem.
I'm glad JL2 seems to fix the issue. Currently I'm running Eclair, 2.1.
So 1), Install JL2 as instructed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853950
3) Install hardcore kernel here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756
4) Install Darky's rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091
2 Questions:
A) won't running Darky's rom ALSO install SpeedMod's kernel? (and an option for voodoo)? So I can essentially skip step 3? Is there a reason why I'd want to use ODIN?
B)And won't installing Darky's rom Also over write the modem in JL2, thus making unsafe for internal sd again?
(Or does JL2 refer to more than just the modem).
I thought Bell and Rogers use different frequencies, so the phones can't be crossed over.

No, They work fine. Used the Bell Motorola Milestone on Fido for a couple months before changing.
Bell SIM cards can also run on unlocked rogers phones.

I think I found my own answers:
A)Once you flash to JL2, you cannot flash CWM reboot recovery.. JL2 runs 3e recovery, but CWM uses 2e.. You'll get an error trying to apply update.zip..
You must use odin to change the kernel. I don't think it matters if you use voodoo or supermod.
B) Darky's rom actually changes the modem and you lose 850. If you want it again, take the JL2.tar file and delete everything except modem.bin.. More details here: http://cloudrainstar.blogspot.com/2010/12/xxjpy-darkys-70-ugjl2-modem-bmcjl2-csc.html

Thanks for that info. I did not know Darky 's would remove 850 band. It really pays to read through this information thoroughly before proceeding.

Did you have to re-flash jl2 to get band 850?
Yea Rasher I did.
I was getting so brain fried I was trying to flash with ODIN while the phone was still on the home screen....
I finally remembered to put it back into download mode and flashed the JL2 modem back in.
WOW and WOW I can't believe how fast the GPS is.
It was non-existant for me on the stock UGJL2
Thanks again guys
Oh just incase anyone else reads this and forgot to do that, in order to use your phone in BC you will most likely need to do this guys first part of his tutorial on flashing the JL2 MODEM.bin after Darky's ROM.

This thread has made be a bit confused.
If i have a Bell phone, on the rogers network. What do i need to do? If i flash darky's rom and it gets rid of the 850 band, does that matter?
I will try to explain me clearly
My phone is working normally and I can restore nandroid without issues
I'm actually with my V29 KK TW and work without issues
BUT If i flash aosp or cm rom, just afeter enter pin code, the screen becomes black like problem with proximity sensor
I can put my hand in front, it doesn't change, If I push the buttons, sometimes the screen appears and disappears immediately
and the more strange is I have this problem with the RR 5.3.9 I had flashed before without issue and can restore a nandroid I have done with it...
I have done a clean flash of my KK TW V29 without issue....
first I have made a FULL wipe include internal storage and flash stock NI4 rom but without any changes
someone got an idea???
thank's
I have flashed successfully 2 QS L differents versions but can't with CM roms (euphoria, tema, RR...)
is there a reason to that
This is x-files troubles, personally I reflash stock LP with Odin and all is good now

thank's for the help..
So...first question:
Did you ever take the official lollipop update from samsung?
Second Question:
What country are you in, and carrier do you use?
Please message me the following details from the sticker inside the device under the battery, so I can grab the Service files from samsung for you!
I've flashed OB1 with odin and flash back after 2 weeks NI4 and the last I try was this N9005XXUFNG2_N9005OXXFNG3_XEF (Open France) (No-wipe)
the flash goes well but doesn't change my BL and modem, before that I was with NI4 BL and NI3 modem and now still with that
I use sosh carrier (orange) in france
will send you the details from sticker
@rayman95 This is what i have found out!!! From my understanding, You took the Lollipop bootloader when you installed the OC1 Package. if you want to completely restore to "Earlier Version", WHICH this may not be possible due to a SAMSUNG new coding issue, You would need to have the complete 4 Files software to repair your device.... As well as using all the following checkboxes in ODIN:
Auto-Reboot
Re-Partition
F. Reset Time
NAND Erase ALL
Phone Bootloader Update
I Attempted to download your files for the device, but Kies will Not "Initialize" for download, and it will give you an Error if you plug the device into Kies3 i believe because you device is ROMMed.
IF you want to try Kies to restore AND it begins "DOWNLOADING", You can copy the Tmp****.tmp.zip that is created when the progress indicator hits 85% in Kies.
The File location on Win7 is "C:\Users\*Your Screen Name HERE*\AppData\Local\Temp"
If you Have the 4 Part file for NI2, try flashing in ODIN wioth the Above Checkboxes selected!!
Kies don t let me dl any files and gave me some error but don't remember exactly what... but not important because you give me good files.....after that I hope flashing again cm12.1.....
Thank so again chief....
After more than a year with my 4.3 Note 3. I decided to flash a custom ROM. Namely Aryamod 6. (first attachment was the stock 4.3 I started with). I knew that I needed to backup my data so I decided to flash a custom recovery so I went about it by getting Rom Manager to flash CWM which eventually would allow me to flash TWRP. I eventually used the dd install method to install TWRP but that didn't work so I used odin to flash it. This caused my Note to freeze up a few minutes after booting with a black screen and the status bar just showing.
I decided to go through with flashing Aryamod v6 to get a fresh start. I flshed the BL and CP files which then caused my Note to go into a boot loop where I can't even boot to recovery. I was told to update to a 5.0 rom and I used the base rom of Aryamod v6 which is the BOE4 rom. Now when I try to flash the BOE4 rom I get the volume size is too big and invalid ext4 image.
Also sometime during the first bootloop I accidentally ticked Nand EraseAll but as far as I could see it did nothing.
Anyway, right now it is very difficult to download another ROM because of horrible Philippine isps and my Note is also my daily driver so I need to get it back into working order ASAP. These are the files I have:
ODIN 3.09
N9005XXUGBOEA_N9005OJVGBOE4_KSA - The Base ROM of Aryamod v6 a 5.0 rom
N9005XXUGBOEA_AryaModV6.0_Public - Aryamod v6
CP_N9005XXUGBOD3.tar.md5 - part of the aryamod instructions and I believe the modem of 5.0
BL_N9005XXUGBOEA.tar.md5 - part of the aryamod instructions and I think the bootloader?
twrp-2.8.7.0-hlte-4.3.img. zip- The twrp version I flashed when I was on 4.3
hlte-recovery.img.zip - I flashed this to get out of the recovery loop when I dd installed Twrp.
PIT-File-DBT+VFG-UK-MSM8974 - A PIT file.
SM-N9005_32GB.pit - another pit file. Flashing this got me into stock recovery.
N9005ZHUBMI7_N9005ZZHBMI7_N9005XXUBMI5_HOME.tar.md5 - I don't remember where I got this. Haven't flashed this but it might be a backup of my 4.3 rom
A few questions.
Can I fix my phone with these files?
When Flashing the BOE4, I just put it on PDA/AP? but in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/guide-t2983873, he seems to be putting it on everything.
I really need your help on these
I have no idea about that file you have, whether it will work or not, but the only thing I can say is, the Polish ROM is the Lollipop ROM which works on most devices, so you might wanna give it a try.
I don't live in a place with even decent ISPs, but I can download a ROM in less than two hours, so if your condition is not worse then you will have to download a ROM rather than depending on what you have.
It's been a while since I've flashed anything; at least a year, though more likely two. Whatever I have now I'm guessing is a rom called stock(ish)v06, since that's what is listed in my bootloader. I guess the modem (baseband?) is NAE, and I'm still using a very old version of TWRP (2.6.3 according to my signature, haven't checked).
Obviously, the development that still exists for this device has moved well past me. But given how temperamental my device has been lately, I want to give flashing something newer a shot before buying a new device.
Trouble is, I'm not sure how to go about flashing roms and finding the right modem/firmware when everything I have is so out of date.
Suggestions?

Download latest fully stock firmware so you will have latest bootloader and modem from http://www.sammobile.com
which is Lollipop, then flash latest TWRP. If you like stock, there is a stock deodex ROM, there is the awesome Wicked X (heavily modified Lollipop stock), or if stock is not your thing you can get CM12(Lollipop) or CM13 official(Marshmallow)

I want to make sure I understand what you're telling me to do, so a few clarifying questions:
1) I am meant to be updating TWRP first, then using it to flash stock firmware to update the bootloader and modem, and then flashing a rom of my choosing?
2) Why is that method preferable to using Odin to update the modem?
3) If I flash this newer official firmware, am I going to lose root?
4) In flashing the newer firmware, won't my bootloader lock, making it not possible to flash a new rom?

1) No, use Odin to flash full stock that you downloaded from sammobile.com, you cannot flash full stock from recovery.
2) Because some if not most newer ROMs require you to be on Lollipop bootloader.
3) Yes you will lose root, but this flashing of stock firmware is to update your bootloader and modem so you can flash the newest ROMs. The lack of root doesn't matter since you will be flashing latest TWRP via Odin and modified ROMs soon after.
4) if you have Sprint L720 the bootloader isn't locked. Check I'm 'about phone' to make sure you have an L720 and not another variant of S4
Make sure Samsung drivers are installed on your computer.
So your flashing steps go as follows:
1) Download everything you need first:
a) Full stock from http://www.sammobile.com to your computer
b) Latest TWRP tar file to your computer
c) The custom ROM of your choice (and correct gapps if AOSP or CM based) saved on external SD card on your phone since it will be flashed via recovery.
2) Turn phone off completely. I pull the battery then put it back in then boot directly to download mode: power + volume down. (Rebooting to download mode doesn't always allow a proper flashing)
3) Start Odin (uncheck reboot and reset time) and then plug phone into computer.
4) If COM lights up green in Odin click AP and select the file you downloaded from sammobile (it will be PDA instead of AP if you are using an older version of Odin) and click OK or start (I don't remember which it has)
5) If it flashes successfully pull the battery and then put it back in and turn the phone on normally. It will take a while to boot, like 15-20 minutes possibly. Flashing stock myself I have seen it say it was successful and it wasn't and the fix for me was to leave reset checked and let it do it's thing.
6) Once you have booted into your newly flashed stock OK3, do step 2 and 3 again, so you can flash TWRP.
7) When you go to flash TWRP in Odin uncheck reset time and DEFINITELY have reset unchecked (if Odin reboots your phone TWRP doesn't stick). Do step 4 again except this time select the TWRP tar file. Once it flashes successfully pull battery put it back in and boot directly to recovery (power + volume up) from there do a backup if you want, if not you can flash the custom ROM and gapps if necessary that you downloaded earlier.

I'm used Lenovo a6k plus. When I flashed Lenovo rooted stock rom( deodexed) the sim card not detected it say sim card not ready. Then I flashed other custom ROM but same problem occurs. I'm very feared what can I do plz help me how can I fixed this. I'm try many other custom Roms but result will same. Plz help me.
I have solution
Bro first of all test those sim cards in another mobile , if they were fine then you have two remove both sim cards from your device and then reboot to recovery and flash stock rom (if you have kk based rom installled then flash only kk based pure official stock rom only or if you have lollipop/marshmallow /naughat based rom installed then you have to flash only stock pure official lolipop rom ) . For flashing stock lolipop rom first extract that package and move system.zip and another country named file which one you want i recommend you to use your own country file , after that flash only these to system.zip and country zip via recovery first flash system.zip and then country zip and then super su . And after flashing stock rom don't forget to flash your twrp recovery ( for example- for stock kitkat flash kitkat based twrp.img and for stock lolipop flash lolipop based twrp.img and then flash any supersu.zip file ) remember the step of flashing twrp recovery again before rebooting otherwise you will permanently loose your twrp and root access .This simcard error comes from persist partition (you can easily see this option during mounting any file system in twrp recovery) . I am damn sure that you accidentally wiped this partition , but don't worry if this is not a hardware related problem you can easily make your device to work properly with your sims, Another tip please flash those stock roms without sim cards and don't insert sim cards until your phone turns on for first time after that you will switch off your phone and insert sims. Wolla you got your sim connection back. I am again saying flash stock rom only without any sim . If these steps dont work contact me via WhatsApp - +91 9205097520 or simply reply me on xda or mail me at [email protected] . I hope you understand the steps :good: .
And don't forget to tell me about your device problem.
sometimes the sim slot is loose for sims when we put in our micro-sim my Telenor PK works flawlessly on both slot 1&2 while i couldnt get my Jazz/Warid one to work and the solution was to add a piece of paper on the sim over slot 2 to get it read otherwise im sure your issue was resolved by the previous person who posted
