Bricked phone? - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there... Could use a little help from someone more into this. I got this S4, that is blocked on the boot. See image 2.
I can put it on download mode, connect it to the PC, and ODIN recognizes it. I can install a stock firmware (tried 2 until now, see image 1), and it says that it installs with sucess. After it reboots, it goes back to "image 2".
Is there anyway to unlock this and put it to good use? I don't know if it is rooted or not, and i don't mind the rom that goes in it, as long as it works.
Anyone can help?

Maybe try a different Odin version. 3.09 has worked fine for me in the past.

Try this: uncheck everything in Odin except f.reset time. Flash the ROM. When you see the word reset in the status window, remove the USB cable, remove battery, replace battery, use button combination to enter recovery, perform a factory wipe, and then reboot.

I don't think it has anything to do with Odin. I think it's the bootloader that is damaged... Thanks anyway!

There are various guides. Basically you download the bootloader and put it in the BL slot (some Odin versions may have it labelled differently).
Hit start and wait. That's about it.

There was a thread in the general section. But you might have to do some digging to find the latest version, as they are not in the first page.
Maybe you should update the modem too. They come in pairs.

Before booting the phone for the first time after flashing, did you perform a factory wipe of data and cache in recovery?

After I flash, the phone automatically restarts and stays like on the image I posted with galaxy s4 logo and little blue letters on top saying "recovery booting...". And does not move from that

Did you do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64552957&postcount=3

Or just uncheck autoreboot. And reboot manually after Odin has finished the job
PS: On a different Samsung I once flashed a rom and it corrupted the bootloader somehow. Flashing a bootloader solved the issue. So it's not entirely excluded it is caused by the bootloader.

Try installing a factory image for Android 4.2.1, maybe your Nexus 4 can't boot with 4.3 or 4.4, thats a problem with some Nexus 4 devices.

[Q] where is Samsung learning hub ???

Hi all,
I've been searching high and low for a solution or a clue to solve the following problem but without any start of a lead.
I am running OMEGA v9.0 (btw, if I could've posted on the OMEGA thread, I would've done it . I just can't. I am not a developer).
Before flashing and upgrading to KK i had Samsung learning (and music, and video...) running perfectly well.
Since I flashed and upgraded to kk, Samsung Hub starts but I only have "books", "video" and "games".
No more "learning" and "music". This is quite annoying as I can't access what I bought.
Is it because the rom is rooted? Or because it is KK? Or my coutry? (France).
I tried "cloak root" but then Samsung Hub wouldn't start.
I tried to reinstall a previous version of learning with TB but it didn't work and I eventually messed up my rom and had to re-flash.
Tried to download a version of "samsung learning" from some kind of Samsung server but... didn't work... see sentence just above...
Well, has anyone jus a beginning of a start of a clue?
Thank you all !!!
Seems first time you enter on Hub you need to install some additional apps...

You must have a rom based on the firmware from a country that have all the hub modules. It varies from country to country. F.x. the Polish FW has not music and video module..

Hi,
yes, on the very first start it asks me to install additional apps... but only books, video and game.
I have the same selection screen as you, with only 3 items.
As I said, I tried to manualy add learning. I only ended up on messing up my phone and having to reflash.

Non, I haven't tried. I don't think I'm going to. Everywhere it's said that there is no way back once you have flashed KK.
But I checked on another Note 3 under 4.3 stock, in a shop: all options are present. So I guess this is linked to either KK or root. I should try with an unrooted version of KK. But then I need to prepare the operation and plan how to go back to Omega.

OP, you have three choices:
- Send it back to Moto and endure their slow, idiotic wait times.
- Unlock the bootloader, flash a stock firmware, and lose warranty.
- Risk it and try flashing a stock firmware on a locked bootloader, send it back if it doesn't work, and enjoy the wait time.

My experience with customer service has been very nice. I sent mine on December 2nd and I just waiting to receive that one back on the 24th. They can't fix the problem then they just replaced mine. They sent me a code to build my own, and then took only 3 days after i builded to show in process of delivery. I'm very happy with their customer service.

Thanks, thats helpful. I tried getting the 6.0 package from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/android-6-0-update-rolling-t3261427) and it will not flash on a locked bootloader. Fails at verifying step.
Is there a stock 5.1.1 image floating around somewhere thats signed so that it can be flashed on a stock BL?
So, Ive managed to try downloading a couple of ROMs with no success. And I cant connect to ADB. Suggestions?

Don't use adb - use fastboot. You might need to unlock the bootloader.
Have you tried RSD lite with the stock lollipop return to stock file?
Manually boot into the bootloader. Then
Code:
fastboot devices
Hopefully it returns a number.

Hi, I know you have a sprint device at hand, you can flash this firmware here: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=4340625291E211E6891DFA163EE8F90B
This will remove any Sprint Bloatware and allow you to use LTE, I am assuming you are not in the US correct? if needed i can help guide you flashing it. Do note that flashing this will wipe your device completely, you will need to backup your device before you flash.

I downloaded and installed the software. I'm not quite sure about what to fill in the Model and Region blank, so I put this:
Model: SM-G930U (instead of P)
Region: SPR (Sprint)
Then hit "Check Update", here is the suggested U firmware:
File: SM-G930U_1_20160921124641_vvcrzx3ej5_fac.zip.enc4
Version: G930UUEU4API3/G930UOYM4API3/G930UUEU4API3/G930UUEU4API3
Do I download this firmware? Or do I have to type in different Model number?
Thank you!

Using SM-g930U and SPR would download the same file, as long as you download the firmware for model SM-G930U, it will download the correct file.
