Sync issues. Google and exchange - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Around a week ago my email stopped syncing as it should. Gmail and exchange mail. Emails will arrive many hours after they are sent. If i go into the app and refresh they will come instantly.
Gmail use gmail app. For exchange accounts I use Nine. All accounts are set to push.
Also if I check under accounts, google says i have temporary sync issues. But I can force sync and it will disappear.
Does anybody else have sync issues?
6.0.1 (MMB29M)
Edit : Dropbox is not syncing..

I encountered the same thing...my Exchange email and calendar weren't syncing...seems endemic to Exchange Server 2010...anyway, I went into settings, accounts, and turned off sync on all accounts...not just Exchange, but all Google Apps, Dropbox, etc, rebooted, then turned everything back on...everything is now syncing perfectly.
Worth a shot.

Try it again.
I'm syncing Dropbox, One Drive, 2 Exchange emails, Mega, and all are working flawlessly.
If you're having issues, knowing the rom your running, any sleep apps you may have installed, etc, may help.

Original 6.0.1, rooted, no sleep apps. Mail from Xda came instantly when you quoted me (Exchange, Hotmail account). But test mail I sent earlier today did not. Dropbox have not synced a picture i took 2 hours ago.

I'm having the same issues. Not rooted, no sleep apps. I've been heavily using the Do Not Disturb so I thought that might be the cause, but perhaps not. Dropbox syncs, but insanely slow. Photo uploads used to be near instantaneous but are now hourly. But my largest issues are with Gmail and hangout messages.

Hangouts is a known issue worldwide.
Gmail, none at all.

My issue is purely with exchange. I am stock rooted 6.0.1 Not using any sleep apps like Greenify. My outlook will work fine and the secondary account in the Gmail app, for a while, then suddenly if I send an email through my outlook on my phone I'll notice several minutes later that it says "queued" and never sends. I also stop receiving emails to my outlook as well. Going to exchange under accounts will show it looping from "syncing now" to "last synced at ....." over and over again. This will also cause a battery drain and exchange will show up as the #1 app in the battery usage stats. I wind up using the outlook app as I can't find a permanent fix for the exchange issue.

Secondary Gmail acct doesn't sync properly

I have 3 Gmail accounts on my phone. When added, I go into settings and have them each sync 90 days worth of mail. My primary never has an issue, but sometimes when I look at my second and third accounts, they're reloading all the emails from the beginning. This was not an issue on the N1 or MT4G. Has anyone got any input? Thanks!
Nobody else has this issue? Or do most people have 1 Gmail account?
I am running two gmail accounts and dont have a problem, Sorry

Duplicate Emails

I have a Stock Atrix that apart from a few apps and rooted is mostly stock..
I have the stock email app connected to an Exchange server and 2 IMAP accounts.
The IMAP accounts go crazy and download a couple to 20 to 30 of the same message.. randomly.. Then works fine again.. then back to the duplicate messages.
I haven't found the rime or reason behind it..
I have read some posts on similar duplicate emails but nothing with any solution.
Can anyone point me in a new direction on this one?
Left wifi off for a week and it hasn't happened..
Something to do with bad or week wifi in some spots?
I know this is an old thread, but the same think just has been happening to me for the past month. Running Nottachtrix 1.3.1.
I have two exchange accounts and one imap account. The imap account will download multiple copies of an email (up to 9 at a time).
I have not seen the multiple download problem with the exchange accounts, but on Friday one of the exchange accounts sent about 7 copies of each email until I rebooted.
A reboot will stop the problem but it eventually starts up again.

I didn't have the multiple email problem but the Noattachtrix rom messed up my accounts. They looked ok but weren't. When I opened the email app it was slow to load and would force close sometimes. I tried everything including sbf back to stock. Then I realized somehow in the rom install my motoblur accounts had been screwed up. I tried to get Motorola to clear the account but it meant a three way with ATT and Moto so I just set up a new motoblur account and all was good....

Won't Sync Email on Saturday's ???

Here's a weird one.
Just got my Note 3 on Thursday. Woke up today and my email had stopped syncing.
Went into settings for the Exchange account to look at sync settings to see what was set up - and sure enough Saturday was not marked.
Selected Saturday so my email Sync settings were now set to 7 days a week between 6am and 10pm.
Went out of Sync settings to see if my email was updating - nope....no Sync...
Went back to Sync Schedule and Saturday was again unselected. Have tried to select many times - but every time I go back to the settings it is unselected???
Go figure...any ideas?
SAME !!
Don't worry, you are not the only one having the same issue
I have the same issue with Gmail, Drive and Calendar
bump: issue is still present!
or does someone have a solution?
you have a great alternatives such as: yahoo mail k9 mail etc:highfive:
Remove the account, readd and tick sync for ALL days. - Once you set up for example mon-tue-wed only then tick you want thurs-fri-sat it for some bizarre reason won't sync them. Once you remove the account and readd it'll fix.

Email notifications from Gmail app not always working.

I don't know if I am missing a setting but many times I will have no email notification and there are new unread emails in the gmail app. I have exchange and gmail addresses setup and I think it happens with all of them or it is just the exchange emails.
I went into all the gmail email settings and selected notification for every email and not just once, the exchange emails do not have this option. I also have vibrate selected but I feel no vibration when they come in. I put the gmail app on priority notification but that didn't help.
I have a 5X also that worked perfectly up until the December update, then my email notifications broke on that phone. I ordered a 6P because I wanted to try it out and I did not accept the December update thinking that was the problem but the 6P has the same email notification issue.
Anyone else getting intermittent email notifications? Is there a setting I am missing or something? Could this be because of doze?
Thanks

I'm beginning to think that it's an Exchange Server 2010 issue...as I've noticed that all hosted Exchange providers are going to be migrating to an Outlook.com environment. If your Exchange Server provider is on 2010, they'll likely be migrating you over the next 3-6 months...
If you want this before that time, you'll need to move your Exchange email manually to Outlook.com and be responsible for your email backups.
I believe that the same holds true for corporate Exchange environments.

I'm also getting lack of notifications from the GMail app (official) and it's kind of annoying. Any Fix?
Count me in. Tried a clear cache in Gmail, tried phone wipe cache but no difference.
I've seen similar problems around. I have my gmail IMAP accounts and 3 POP accounts and none of them syncs. I have to manually refresh the gmail app.
I'm another user with the issue. stock gmail and not rooted.
No notifications, wonder if gmail is having issues.
It has to be something on Google's end. As of yesterday, I'm having the issue with both gmail and inbox. Tried clearing data, disabling & reenabling sync, etc.. My wife has been complaining about exchange issues since last week.
Check to make sure you have gmail syncing on in accounts under the phone settings. Also make sure you did not turn off notifications from the app manager.
I am experiencing this also. I think other google push notifications are flaky too. I know my Google Opinion Rewards app has stopped notifying me. I open the app and that is when I see surveys.

I am seeing this issue on both Nexus 6P and 5X, with both exchange accounts, and actual Gmail accounts
Another thing I find odd is this... I use Nova Launcher with unread counts. Nova will show me I have an unread message, but I never get notified from Inbox.

I too am having this issue, I was thinking it was an issue with Google Fi being that I noticed the issue about the time when they replaced my SIM card due to another issue. But now this sounds like it might be a bigger issue.
I just went into the mail app, then to my google account, I then disabled and re-enabled notifications and for the last half hour or so I have been receiving alerts for mail. can someone else test and see what your results are?
EDIT: I may have spoken too soon, I just received 2 emails and didn't receive alerts.
I am going to have to resort to using a third party email app, downloaded cloudmagic and setup my hotmail on it and notifications are working fine with that app. No gmail notification but when I open the Gmail app there is the new unread email. This is happening with exchange and gmail accounts.
Did a Google search and it appears this is a pretty wide spread issue with Nexus 6p and 5X owners.

I am a Moto X Pure owner and I've seen a couple MXPE users complaining about the same. So it's not device oriented, more a "stock" Android issue. At least as I haven't seen other device users having the same problem.
It's really frustrating as I have 4 e-mail accounts and I'm not used to checking them manually.
I went to Settings->Accounts and I disabled auto-sync, then re-enabled it. I got one mail on time after that, but at the time the screen was on. So can't be sure if it helped or not.
Same issues with devices running 6.0.1 but older devices running 5.1.1 have no issues at all. Gmail, IMAP, Nine all have delayed notification or no notifications unless I manually check and sync.

Just bought a new nexus 6p and set it all up. Using the default gmail app for all my accounts and I'm getting notifications for all other accounts except for gmail. It's strange. I get instant notifications for the same gmail account on my BlackBerry no issues. So it is an issue with the gmail app for Android. When can we expect a fix?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Mine has been good since disabling and re-enabling notifications under my account in the mail app, some messages seem to be delayed but I am getting alerts.
Open the mail app, open settings, select your email account, 3rd item down should be notifications and it should be turned on, touch it to turn it off, let it sit a few moments to register the change, touch it again to re-enable notifications. Repeat this for all email accounts (I also cleared the mail apps data in the main settings>apps menu) and I am working again.
please report back if this helped.
Has been confirmed as an issue by the Gmail development team:

Cloudmagic seems to be the only app that has consistent notifications. Tried bluemail and typeapp and even those didn't work, cloudmagic is ok but it doesn't have the ability to swipe to the next email when inside a message.
same issue here. any news?

Gmail App & Exchange (Lack of it...)

Soooo, I've been using the Gmail app for my work's exchange on my HTC One, but after receiving my S7 edge yesterday and attempting to setup exchange on the app, I noticed there is no option for it? The only way I can setup exchange on this phone (w/o downloading Outlook I suppose) is to set it up on Samsung's native email app... Anyone else notice this? Kind of BS if you ask me. The Gmail app is better IMO for my email needs.

Download the latest version of Exchange Services from here - http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/exchange-services/
You'll have to enable unknown sources for install. Close the Gmail app before install, reopen and add account, and you'll find Exchange access there.

Same here. I am getting the dreaded "Sync is currently experiencing problems, it will be back shortly." message when it is trying to sync the calendar. Emails have been coming through just fine the past couple of days but the calendar does not seem to be synching properly. I also get this error message when it tries to sync contacts as well but I'm not as concerned with the contacts. I've tried several workarounds that are out there on the web but I have stopped short of doing a factory reset, which I would prefer to avoid if possible. Has anyone tried the factory reset option and can confirm that it actually resolves the issue?
I am wondering if the issue may be a bug with the latest version of the Exchange Services apk that we are using (5.0.106634657).
I just decided to run my email through Gmail but use MS Active Sync for Calendar.
Has anyone had any success with the Gmail Calendar sync issue yet?
I may have to go the MS Active Sync route.
You could also set up the account in the default mail app, and turn off sync for everything but the calendar. I'm using that app to sync my exchange account, and everything works.
