Hello my friends.
I have here a zenfone 5 with pinaslang twrp 2.8.6.0. Any usb function dosn't work with it. Can't use fastboot, adb or mtp. I have another one here, same model, and all this works, is not a pc-driver problem.
I want to return to stock system, but as I don't have access to fastboot, it's been a struggle.
I've tried replacing the internal board that contain usb plug with the other zenfone I have, but it didn't work.
Nandroid backup in the good zenfone and restore to the bad one didn't work, because I only found 2.8.7.0 twrp to flash, as to restore in a 2.8.6.0 twrp, it didn't recognize.
It was send to warranty, but it was void... so no deal...
That's something I can do?

Then flash modded stock Rom for Asus_T00J/T00F ZenFone 5 via twrp and before flashing stock Rom wipe data/ factory reset in twrp recovery...
If you flash modded stock Rom then your bootloader will be locked and twrp recovery will be replaced by stock recovery....

Thanks for your help guys.
I flashed this file, wiped data, and got a bootloop.
Funny is that my recovery wasn't replaced.
I tried recovering with this file from ressuction rom thread:

Flash this package via TWRP:

After that you should make a factory reset.
After this, my bootloader changed, and of course, didn't work. (the usb problem as happening before this.)
Did I brick my zenfone?

The fastboot not working maybe is a hardware issue.
If I flash a custom ROM, it'll boot. But my battery only fully work with full charge... That was what it looks.
any more help??
Sorry guys, it worked!! I don't know why, but the I let the phone to boot for more than 10 minutes, and it was looking bootloop.
Today it simply boot normally.
I'm having a poorly battery use... it's normal? Lasting 2 hours.

I decided today to try and root my phone and followed the steps on this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/nexus-4-guide-unlock-bootloader-root-t2266654
I had unlocked my phone and installed the latest version of TWRP. Now I can only boot into TWRP and bootloader. My phone is not being picked up by my PC. I tried a factory reset and format of data on TWRP but my phone still only boots into TWRP.
Is my phone permanently bricked?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
I actually have just made some progress now. I've managed to get the phone connected to the computer by going into ADB sideload and installing the ADB drivers again on my computer.
Typing ADB devices in CMD now shows my device as connected.
Any advice on what I should do now?
What happens when you try to boot it normally? Is it stuck at the boot animation or does it go directly to the bootloader or recovery? Since you already had to wipe everything you could try flashing a factory image via fastboot.

Booting the phone normally loads it into TWRP. Booting the phone with the volume key pressed down loads the bootloader. I think I may have just wiped the OS present on the Phone.
I want my phone to be rooted running CyanogenMOD (phone is currently unrooted). Should I first install a stock rom then root by installing SuperSU and CyanogenMOD or can I just skip installing a stock rom and install SuperSU and CyanogenMOD?
Thanks for the help
You could try flashing a cyanogenmod zip from TWRP, and if that doesn't work I would suggest flashing I factory image.

Yes, if it is a zip file. But I'm pretty sure installing cyanogenmod will automatically root it for you.

@hwweiler, No friend there is no other way. Please before do this as is one direction way take the pain to look on my post #180 on zaclmon's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/orig-development/wip-aosp-7-0-nougat-t3448444/page18 and keep in mind that is impossible to return back on any nandroid backup u kept e.g to 5.1.1 or M furthermore its also impossible to flash any rom zip if u use this N (WIP) rom,the only way to have a workable phone again is to flash the stock rom from scratch.Exceperienced with and never again untill we have the appropriate solution..The twrp used and i still use on M is TWRP 3.0.2.0.The possibility to return on LP ffrom M and reverse still exists but not when u flash this rom.

So after a week of just bootloop, black screen of death and hard reset my rooted s5 suddenly open again.
Now that its open again what can I do to fix this? Cause im afraid that if i'll restart my phone i will get stuck in the bootlooop.
Suggestions?
Just to give you an update my s5 has been rooted for the past 2 years ...its just now that it got stuck in the bootloop.. im not really sure what caused this cause havent installed any apps that could affect the system...
Any ideas how can I fix it while its working again?
Would help if you gave us the model S5 it is, which firmware it's running, recovery etc?
Its g900f using stock rom... stock recovery
Please see attached file
Thanks in advance.
Download stock ROM using samfirm (or sammobile .com)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Put phone in download mode
Connect to PC USB > add .MD5 ROM to AP section in ODIN 3.10.7
Flash
Boot to recovery > Factory reset

Why don't you want to reflash? If you're rooted you should have backups.
Ok I think I missed that part... ok so if I flash, everthing will be wiped out right?

No it won't, and for a proper backup you need TWRP recovery
If your phone is having problems like it is, you very likely need to flash
Just flash the stock ROM over the top and your apps and data will remain
But backup photos and important files first by connecting the phone to USB and copying to PC
Forget about apps, you can reinstall them if something goes wrong
Ok thanks im starting to understand it now.. i just need to confirm a few things before i start doing it...i have watched a few vids and ok i think i missed installing a custom recovery... ill install it later and go with cwm...
Flashing the stock.. means getting my firmware(which has the size of 1gig+) in sammobile ang flashing it using odin right?
Read my 2nd post
Thanks alot got it! One last question , suppose that im not going to lose my apps but am i going to lose root once i have flashed the stock rom?
Yep, just root again, instructions are all over the forum, easy to find
Because you're getting bootloops, I suggested factory reset too, that will wipe the device, the flash won't, the reset will
I assume here's the steps that i need to take
1. Back up through cwm
2. Flash stock rom through odin
3. Clear dalv cache
4. Factory reset through recovery or from the homescreen setting?(will this removed supersu?)
6. Root device again
5. Restore back backup from cwm recovery?
Better method:
Flash TWRP 3.0.2.0 (Much more powerful recovery)
Make full Nandroid backup in TWRP
Wipe everything apart from Internal and External storage
Boot into Download Mode
Flash stock ROM with ODIN 3.10.7
Reboot
Now boot back into download mode
Flash TWRP 3.0.2.0 again
Boot into TWRP
Flash systemless SuperSU 2.72 beta or whichever is the latest beta atm
Don't restore your backup or you could end up with the same problems as before, I recommend using TiBu to restore your apps and data from the backup you made in TWRP

Do you have an official recovery? If yes, you can recover back your device again. Just use 'adb sideload <filename>' to do this.
I've also trying to unroot my device and end up in boot logo, but after flash the official ROM, it's finally work again. Also my data (/data) isn't formatted.

TWRP supports adb sideload but there's no point flashing stock recovery, TWRP is superior in every way.
Go into TWRP, plug in your USB cable and it'll mount your sdcard . Copy the firmware onto the sdcard and install it. Perform a wipe cache/dalvik and reboot.
How are you removing root?

I used a app called KingRoot while I was on the bus, it caused the phone to freeze, after about 10 mins I hard reset the phone and it has not worked since.
I tried to sideload the stock rom, but it will not accept it. I think I may have something to do with the bootloader. I think my TWRP recovery could be in the Android partition, but I am unsure.

Forget sideloading it, edit the update script in the firmware, see this
thread, part 1, step 2-4.
Then copy the firmware to your sdcard (like I mentioned above) and install it. You can use the guide here, tip #4. You should read the entire guide afterwards.
if TWRP loads when you select recovery, it's on the correct partition. You'll have to reinstall TWRP after you flash the stock Rom again as it'll update recovery as well. Then create an nandroid backup, tip #2 and you're set.

Hy Wang.. I followed your guide - modified updater-script, but I can't install the stock rom .zip from TWRP.
It says "can't extract updater-binary", I tried few times thinking that the file is corrupt, but the result still same.
FYI, I use stock ROM "UL-ASUS_Z012D-WW-14.2020.1709.68-user.zip", and TWRP 3.1.1.
Please help me if you have experienced it before. Thanks
@rzahunn
I've never had that error before and you're on the latest version of TWRP so I'm going to guess it has to do with your modification of the updater script.
You edited updater-script not updater-binary, correct? There are two files with similar names
There's a detailed guide by @kyle_l88 on how to return to stock.

TWRP Bootloop
Sorry if my reply is irrelevant, but I need some helps.
I am also using Zenfone 3, but stuck in TWRP bootloop.
I cannot flash using fastboot (not detected on PC), reflashing ROM doesn't help either.
I've tried all the possible methods I found on Google, such as dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota method but still has no luck.
Restoring backup would end me in TWRP too.
@Xytce
Are you factory resetting after you flash? Clearing cache and dalvik? It will take 5-10min to boot up initially after that.
Otherwise, try the guide Rizzed referenced.....as long as you have the correct firmware and TWRP flashes successfully, there's no reason it shouldn't work that I can think of.

Hey guys,
so I tried flashing Omni 8.0 rom and I was stuck at the boot screen. so I went back into twrp tried to reflash still nothing. I flashed a new version of twrp the one that can use multirom and it erased all my data. I flashed back the twrp I started with and now I can not sideload the full OTA zip to get back to stock. It says "cannot load one.zip" which is what I have it labeled as. I tried to download the recovery tool and I can't seem to figure out how to get the driver to work so it will see me on my comm port. Does anyone have any ideas on what to do or what happened? I'm stuck in twrp.
almost looks like it can't mount the system
IDK, maybe a broken download. I'd try to restore a backup if you have one, if not Wipe > Factory Reset. If it still doesn't boot after 20 minutes, refer to this thread: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/i-have-to-go-back-to-oxygen-os.649947/#post-16907420. Basically, download the OOS ROM onto your computer and use an ADB/USB Sideload in TWRP recovery (you can flash Oxygen Recovery from TWRP if TWRP doesn't work) to install it. May take a while to boot.
I have no idea how it happened but I got my system mounted again that was my problem. I'm back.

Easy fix for "Cannot load xxx.rom": you have to patch the adb.exe with a large address awareness program. Google it, I found one in another XDA thread.
Reason: the ROM filesize is too large. For small ROMs (like custom ROMs) adb would recognise it without any problems.

So after you erased all but OTG, you did not install a rom? Cause you only mentioned "after that".

If you solve the Wifi issue then no need
