Hi,
I am looking to buy a car charger for HTC Fuze
There are so many listed like at Eforcity and BargainCell
would anyone of them is fine?
Is there a decent place other than those two? Above places are just charging more on shipping than the actual cost of the charger

The easiest way would be to swing by an ATT or Verizon store.
I do have several and they are all rated 5 V (rarely you'll find 12V) but use one of these. They are pretty slick because you can charge ALL USB devices and, if you travel, it's a "one-for-all" device (meaning I can charge my headset which has a USB cable, iPod Nano and the phone.

the reason I mentioned that one was I could not find anyone for 5V
all are 12V

i bought 1 of these. works great. has 3 inputs and 1 usb port.
My solution to the car charging problem has been a power inverter. You can charge your phone using your house charger, and plug in other stuff at the same time. The last one I bought even had a couple of USB ports so I can use a standard USB cord to charge various devices. Also handy for plugging in my laptop, dvd, tv, etc.

A car's battery is 12v. So when they say 12v, they are referring to input. It should then regulate that 12v to 5v (USB spec). If you are worried that this one does not have this regulator, spend a few extra dollars and get a better one.
A car charger should have a regulator anyway, because your car's alternator can output up to about 20v. For USB devices, it needs to be regulated to 5v, or damage may occur.

types of usb connectors
Hey guys, tell me please are there two types of USB connectors to TP ?
I mean the one is like a regular mini USB and the other is an asymmetric one ? Because i ordered ones a car charger from ebay and got the one with the mini USB connector although my TP has the second one.

TP has a special usb head for multimedia etc, but for charging use, your item would be ok.

Old Motorola Car Charger
I use the car charger from my old Motorola Razr. It has a charging light and charges quickly, however, the Razr will not charge from the Fuze home charger...David.
It seems that there is an important issue about car chargers, which isn't mentioned in this thread. The HTC car charger is 2 ampere, where othere chargers (like the one I bought on Ebay) or only 0.5 ampere. This is problem when having heavy load on your Touch Pro. It then actually still drains battery while charging.
I'm in the UK and want to save $20 on the charger
I have a couple of Micro USB wall chargers that i use on my blackberry. They will fit the N1 and plug straight into the wall. Would they be safe to use, to charge my N1. (These charges are rated 750mHA).
I know the N1 will be supplied with a micro USB cable. I also have an IPhone wall socket plug head, the ones where you just put the USB cable into the plug and then it goes into the wall. Are these safe to use too, for charging the N1?

the Nexus one connector is standar microUSB and therefore will work with standard microUSB cables and chargers.
So there is no type of resistor or transformer in the official plug head? ... to restrict power. I thought there would be as my blackberry charger has a 750mha rating on it.
I can understand the USB cable will work as its a limited power output from a laptop port. But just wanted to check the official wall outlet plug current isn't being restricted. The last thing i want to do is fry my new N1.

do what i did. remove the charger from your basket and use the supplied USB with an old htc charger if you have one. If not get one for a few quid from ebay why spend $20 when you can get one for $5 odd from the market/ebay.

Last year, Micro USB was decided as the open standard for cell phone chargers, so this should be replacing Mini USB as seen on earlier phones (BlackBerries, G1) in instances where the port isn't.. some.. proprietary crap.

No. The G1 used Mini USB, this is Micro USB. The phone comes with a charger and USB (USB-A 2.0 to Micro USB 2.0) cable.
It's not propitary so it will work with any other charger.

I went looking for a car charger and a straight USB A->Micro B cable. The former I found by poking in all the packages for different phones until I found it (found a Samsung charger that uses it, although they did want nearly £30 for the damned thing). The USB A->Micro B I drew a blank - the more clueless salesmen tried to convince me that I was mistaken and I meant Mini!
I thought the blackberry used them but I looked in the pile of blackberry cables the local shops had and they were all mini. Even my local electronics store has every kind of USB imaginable *except* micro.

I bought a car charger from a local Tmo store last week (I forget what phones it was for), and although it "worked" when the plug was perfectly perpendicular to the phone, it had quite a bit of lateral play (which the OEM plug does not), meaning anytime it moved in the car, it would stop charging.
I returned it, and am now just waiting for HTC to decide to manufacture accessories for this ever increasing bundle of worry...
I am using a TomTom charger for my N1, also the HTC hero and the Motorola Droid chargers works to charge my N1.

Seems like it was just a poor quality charger. If it's a micro USB, it should be built to specific specifications. I already bought a few chargers (including a car charger) and cables (for work, home and travel), and they all work perfectly. Technically ALL micro USBs should be the same, unless the manufacturer didn't follow the standards.

Hah, just my luck; I pick up the one out of spec micro USB charger in the entire city!
Although, it must be that particular T-Mobile supplier, as I went to another store and test fitted the same charger, and it had excessive wiggle as well. Either that or my phone is just lame...
I just got a universal charger in Tesco for £5 that has changeable heads (Micro, Mini, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Nokia 2mm)
Works perfect
- The cable is standard USB. You can use it to charge the phone from your PC, or use another micro USB cable or charger you have
- The Nexus comes with a US 2 pin charger that is dual voltage - works in UK and US. Just spend 50p and get a US to UK convertor plug.
- The charger is rates 5v 1A, so if you have another microUSB charger with the same voltage use that.
I find charging from the charger results in more battery life than USB. The only explanation is charge rate because USB is 500mA and the charger is 1000mA
PS. I removed the UK charger from the order too. You get the US charger regardless in the box.

I'm doing some research on car chargers that can output 2 amps to the phone via a USB cable, but the trick is getting the phone to pull more than .5 amps from a car accessory outlet. So far I haven't had much luck. There seems to be a lot of info on ipad stuff, but not much in the way of high powered Android devices. So I thought I'd start a thread about compatible car chargers that will allow a full 1.8 amp pull from my car outlet, and see what you guys and gals think and have tried. I've attached a pic of my current setup. It's a Proclip holder on a 2012 Mustang. I've used this same setup for several previous phones (S2 Skyrocket and S3). The holder itself is adjustable to accommodate various phones with cases.

Data pins need shorted together, either in the USB cig plug, or some micro USB cables are this way...
Additionally, the USB cable you use needs to have thick enough power wires to support 1.8A charge draw. Many USB cables use 28 AWG wire for the data conductors, and then you get varying degrees of wire gauge for the power conductors depending on manufacturer. Some people use 28 AWG for both, some use 26, and good cables are made with 24 AWG wire. The thicker wire gauge means less resistance so less power is lost and more can be put into the battery. To pull a proper 1.8A the phone probably should have 22AWG power wire in the USB cable really...

What model pro clip holder is that? I need to replace the one from my nexus. May hold out for the G2 specific one with the cable built in (like the nexus one I have now), but no telling how long that will be.

It's the Body Glove case from the AT&T store. It was the only one they had at the time, and I didn't feel like waiting to order one so I overpaid in exchange for some piece of mind.

It's the holder I ordered for my Skyrocket a few years ago. It's a generic adjustable one that fits a lot of different phones with cases. It has fit my SR, GS3, and now my G2, all with cases.

I have a custom 5 inch up angle micro USB cable I ordered from www.usbfirewire.com. It is a very thick wire, thicker than the charging cable the G2 came with. The one in my pic is probably not thick enough for a 2 amp charge.

Spot on. FWIW, the LG OEM cable is 20AWG on the power wires. This is the only viable explanation as I can't get the OEM wall charger to work with any cables I have sitting around (24AWG at best).
So would we be better off just using the factory charger with a power inverter or is there an actual car charger that will work?
Provided you short the data pins in whatever car charger you buy (if they arent already) and you get a cable with beefy power conductors then you should be able to draw 1.5-1.8A of power through a car charger. You have to make sure the car charger will do what you want though, many 2A chargers also have 2 ports to plug into. What they don't tell you is that each port is limited to 1A and both together will give 2A draw, but not to charge one device. The car itself also may limit power to the charger as well, I know my car specifically says 1.4A max through the cigarette plug. So it is possible to do, it is all just dependent on so many other things that you have to check off the list.

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I'm tempted to try that Scosche charger, with my thick USB cable. I installed Currentwidget, so I should be ale to see at what rate I'm charging at if I decide to order it.

I like the Powergen dual 2.1A USB charger I got off of Amazon. Has served me well. But really, anything 1.8A+ that's quality will do. The trick is going to be the USB cable. Still trying to source one from a reputable site, but you want something with 20AWG for the power. If I find something, I'll post it. Thus far I found two sites, kinda obscure, but not thrilled that the shipping alone costs more than the cables which run $6.

I suspect the phone can detect the charger capacity because my OEM LG cable works on both the Apple and Non-Apple ports on the Powergen charger. Since that's the case, the phone doesn't seem to care if the data pins are shorted or not. And the Powergen is advertised as 4.2A total, so 2.1A per port.

Something worth considering is looking at charging cables labeled for tablets. They usually charge in this amperage range. I plugged my g2 into my kindle fire HD charger (1.8A) and didn't get any slow charge warnings.

Doesn't that come with the same Amazon branded usb cable you can get by itself? Take a look on the cable. A lot of times they label the wire gauge.

my amazon branded micro usb cables are 28awg and they still allow quick charge with oem wall charger.
The charging issues associated with this phone has been a huge PITA. I've been carrying my stock cable around just so I can charge my phone!!! Subscribed so I can maybe help out with some info...

Are you certain that's not just the data side that is 28awg? Very surprised you can pull 1.8A at 28awg.

I bought my S6 about 1 month ago and since then I have charged it with different micro usb cables.Afew days ago the phone was showing random "top up's" on screen like "power sharing connected",Samsung VR" and yesterday I couldn't charge my phone .I have been to Samsung Care shop to see what's going on.I left it for 1 day to fix it.Thanks God I didn't root it and didn't break the knox to 0x1 and them done the service for free under warranty for 2 years by Samsung.The Engineer told me to not use foreign micro usb cables to S6 because it's different micro usb and it will break.I hope someone will listen to me and to not do whst I done.The normal price to replace usb port to S6 is £253 so be careful guys.

Any cable that is not Samsung S6/Egde original.Its need to be compatible with S6
USB is a standard and the connectors are the same but I agree that some cables might have different connector covers so it might push agains the case and force the usb connector.
On a side note you should black out your information. I can see your name, address, all your phone numbers, your phone serial/imei too...

Sorry that's crap.
A micro USB connector is a standard part, unless you are buying horribly cheap junk maybe, they will all fit fine.
I have used several cables and not hurt the phone at all.
I buy a kignstons usb duo 3.0 64gb for 22 dólars.... that's means I can't use in my S6?
using my OTG usb stick with the S6.... Works. It's a bull**** comment from the repair service...
Lets just hope this won't be an S3 disaster where the USB port was a weak point. My GFs S3 had the S3 USB port problem, where it would start charging very slow due to bad USB port and a week ago, stopped charging completly, unless kept in a specific angle. On my S3, all cables worked that I had, for hers, only 1 cable made a "good" connection.
the repair service has got it half right
regarding physical damage to the port:
what you want to make sure is that other USB cables don't cause stress to the USB port... as you may have noticed, different microUSB cables have different size plugs (the same microUSB metal connector, but the plastics surrounding it are different sized)... we must make sure our cases don't interfere with the cable plug (many case manufacturers only design their case with the original samsung cable in mind, which might not be big enough for plugs like the monoprice microUSB ferrite cable, which has a large rectangular plug)
all the above is moot if you don't use a case

regarding electrical damage to the port:
you'd be safe to stick with OEM quality USB AC adapters or other big-name (Anker makes a lot of them) USB AC adapters... but STAY AWAY from those no-name cheap china adapters!! those have poor power filtering, electrical noise, poor grounding, etc....
Just because it fits in the same hole and has the same pins doesn't mean it's compatible. Using a cable not made for fast charging on an S6 would be like trying to jump start a car with a lamp cord. It could overheat at the cable, connector or battery. That's why using the wrong charger or cable voids most warranties. Here's one such case, if you are interested:

The OP is lucky Samsung honored his warranty.
I call BS. MicroUSB is an industry standard. If they were not compatible not only would they not be able to call it that, but they would be subject to sanctions for violation the requirements for using standard cables ports of which the MicroUSB is currently is.
While you might not get the faster charge if you don't use their cable and their charger unless you are using very poorly made cables you will be just fine.
I charge my s6 most of the time with a BlackBerry charger for one of their discontinued tablets. 1.8A with 6ft fixed cable, I have 6 of them, they charge everything from tablets to phones. The white "short" Samsung cable and charger is in the box.

It is a valid warning, I live I EU and I think that I can trust shops here to sell me good product ... I use original mini USB cables for all my gadgets and all of them are the same but even dispite that on my ex phone I had flimsy connection due to some damage to USB port even I used original cable and I give credit to my using the phone during charging and the fact that most of us use our little finger as a stand and then the USB tend to move a bit and damage is caused...
The truth is that not all are the same as some are faster and some are not ... But in the meaning of just the metal part of actual connector they should be the same by law if EU ...
Considering that in mind the only rule in buying accessory like cables should be are they been through a regulatory channels ....

I use my Nexus 6 charger & cable works fine. Very fast charging on both. Buy OEM cables, a bit more but no headaches...
I use either Qi charging or at home I have uGreen mUSB cables.
No issues with any.
Nor have I had with any phone I've owned.
And I've owned a LOT of phones (probably change my phone a minimum of twice a year)

Micro USB cables are a standard and every cable should be good to use in the S6. I use 3 cables with mine: The original cable, my Tab S cable and some cable I have for years (from an Huawei X5 or a Moto G, not sure) and haven't had any problem what so ever! As said before, just stay away from the 0,2€ chinese cables.

Why did that happen to me then?i never used chinese cables.i have been using my genuine s4 and htc cable and the damage happened for 1 month after i bought it.so that will happen one day to someone else.if u have a look to the s6 usb port its a small difference between the other phones.it looks thinner.The engineer that fixed my phone advised me to use just S6 genuine usb to my S6.If you know all the Samsung S series have problems with usb port.
I have seen some comments and reviews that some USB-C cables are dangerous to use on our phones. Mainly the "Amazon Comment" from a Google Engineer who said that a particular USB-C cable could harm the device.
I am looking to buy some cheap Micro-USB to USB-C adapters for my current chargers, does anyone know if they are safe to use?
Is there a thread that has all the tested and confirmed cables, adapters and chargers? Seems this USB-C thing is more confusing than I though it would be.
I think you are better off buying a USB 2.0 Type A to Type C cable instead of a micro USB adapter. This one has been recommended:

bummer, I don't need "fast charging" all the time so I'm ok with standard charging speed for the most part. However I certainly don't want to "harm" my device with a cable or adapter that is not properly engineered.
Most if not all of the cables he recommends are around $20 for just a cable. Craziness...
I don't think you will damage the phone, but there's a risk you will damage the other side, i.e. charger or computer port. Now frying a $10 charger is not a big deal as long as you are not setting the house on fire, but frying a computer USB port is a different story ... that's what I'm really worried about.

Good thing I ordered 2 the day the article came out. I thought they would raise prices with all the free publicity they got from the article.

Based on the photos, it seems identical to the cable Google sells. Wouldn't be surprised if they both came from the same place.
My question is this: why are people buying all kinds of usb-c to other versions of usb cables? The phone comes with everything one needs to charge or plug into a computer. Unless everyone wants cables for every room in the house...?

I leave my stock charger in the living, but I want an adapter for overnight use to plug it in to my 2.4v Nexus 7 charger that stays in my bedroom.

The 6p comes with 2 cables already... One usb-c>usb-c and one usb-c>usb-a... So use the usbc/c cable for home and the usbc/a cable for travel.

Work, car, etc. I don't want to remember to take the charger/cable with me to work or in the car, I just want to leave them there. And the short cable that comes with the 6P is well ... too short. If you have a desktop computer sitting on the floor or want to charge from the wall or the car, it's just not good enough.

This has nothing to do with travel. and the c-a cable it comes with is too damn short to use for much beyond data transfer. Unless the USB a charger is literally plugged in right next to where the phone is going to sit.
I'm trying to figure out how this new charging thing works as far as the required cable/charger.

I have a charger from my old Galaxy S4 that is 5V-1A. When I plug the iOrange in that charger and to my phone, it will say "Charging" but will not steadily charge. What I mean by that is that it'll change states to charging, then it'll stop charging, over and over again.
Another charger I have is 5 V - 2.1 A. With the iOrange cable, this works fine. It will say "Charging."

I'm not sure what the V/A is on that but with the included USB C -- USB A cable that was shipped with the Nexus 6P, it will charge.
I don't have the USB specs but does anyone know what the minimum is for simply "Charging"? How about "Charging Rapidly?"
I'm assuming my 5V - 1 A charger is too low since it doesn't seem to charge the 6P properly.
I saw the same thing with an HTC 1.5A charger. It charges for a few seconds and then it stops. Not sure what's going on, you'd think that it could at least pull the 500mA or 900mA per the USB spec. Another Anker charger that I have works.

It passes compatibility test using this app CheckR when hooked up with a tronsmart micro-USB cable.
Somebody mentioned that we have all what is needed inside the box and that's true and all but thing is most people don't want to carry their cables/chargers with them wherever they go. I have at least two charger with cables in each room of the house. One in each car and one at work. Makes it convenient since micro-USB cables/chargers are so cheap. Now with USB-C its a different story. One these cables are not cheap at all and now we are learning most of them aren't even complaint with the specs. So it helps to have a tiny adapter to be able to use all the cable I already own with Nexus 6P.
