Hello guys,
I did a factory reset on my gen 1 N7, and for some reason all the wifi passwords I had saved/archived over the past 3 years are all gone!
Obviously this is heartbreaking!
Is there anyways to retrieve them? Force google to reinstall them?
When i did the reset, the box was checked for backup all wifi passwords....where did they go?
Cheers
Alan
Hello and thank you for using Q/A,
you can try to do a new factory reset and setup you Nexus 7 with the same Google-account you used for backup.
Kind regards
Trafalgar Square
Ive tried that 3 or 4 times... no dice.
A year ago I did the reset. It gave me the option of resetting to a given time. Is there anyway to force that type of option? It was like system restore in XP. Choose a given time.

hi guys, would really appreciate your help..
i was trying to fix my nexus 4's problem of unable to sync with google servers so i deleted the data/data/com.android.providers.settings and it indeed fixed the issue.
unfortunatley, after rebooting, i'm now:
- unable to get a lockscreen
- unable to get home button to work
- swipe down settings are gone. and so are notifications
is there another way to restore this other than a factory reset?

Factory reset wil not help, reflash a factory image or custom rom if you are rooted.

He only deleted the data so of course a factory reset will fix it this.
You will probably take ages trying to fix and end up having to wipe anyway. I take it you haven't got a backup of any sort (nandroid/ti backup) etc?

Yup, my bad. So many users wiping the entire sdcard nowadays that i took it wrong and didn`t read correctly
I thought I did but I searched my PC and couldn't find any previously backed up data. So I guess I've no choice but to factory reset and reinstall my data

Hi there! I had had the same problem l33chpda had, but the factory reset fix worked just one time only, today i was about to resell my phone so i wanted to factory reset it, after that i've come across with the problem i had that time, again.
Don't know what to do, i have same issues mentioned by l33chpda, cant get into settings, swipe down settings neither, etc; when try to, phone just do nothing or stays one second and goes back home screen.
I have made nandroid (both clockworkmod and TWRP) of the phone when I bought it, but with online nandroid so i don't have any custom recovery installed.
While checking those nandroid backups, I've discovered the deleted folder backup in the clockworkmod nandroid folder.
Could it be possible to paste it back into "\data\data" folder? should that be the fix? Or I'll have to reflash all even though I dont wanna take that risk because is just that, the other things of the phone are intact and work great.
In case of reflashing, could you tell me about any easy tutorial on how to install clockworkmod recovery?
I own an LG G2 D800, KitKat d80020y rooted with stumproot.
I've been offered a decent price on my note 3 and due to upgrading to the note 5 in October I'm interested.
I want to encrypt before wiping but had some questions.
If i encrypt then do a factory reset, then input his sim in and start it up, will it then ask for the encryption key before he can use it? Or does wiping it also remove the request for a key while still keeping the original data scrambled?
Also something i can't remember from before. When i have done the reset, does it give the option to turn off ready for the first boot being when his sim is in? Or does it automatically restart so i have to allow it to boot then tell it i dont want to log in my details?
Thanks guys

Why would you encrypt the phone? [emoji33]
Factory reset means you need to set up everything from beginning.

I realise the reset starts from the beginning which is fine because I'll be selling to someone else. I needed to know whether it can be turned off right after the reset so i can turn on for the first time with the new persons sim in and he can start inputting his account details from the first boot.
I want to encrypt as apparently just resetting still enables someone to recover data.

If it was me, I will reset my phone. Copy some random files like Movies or audios and Reset again.
Which rewrites the data table..
and I have never tried this Encryption

Do it 3 times or get an app for that.
I would never buy an encrypted phone without pass.
hi to all this problem i have is only on the note 4 not any of my devices stock rom also and rooted
these last few days it does not ask me for a password when buying apps id did a few days ago but now it just accepts it so it skipped the password part all settings is on to ask every single time but it doesn't
i rebooted
i rested the play store and cleared data and cache i think a accidentally press the remember me for this devise and now i cant get it off even tried changing my password that helped last time but not now any ideas
Hi, if nothing worked or helped, you could reflash the stock ROM of your device, but this will delete all you app data! (Internal storage won't get deleted.)
Please help
Just got GS8+ took hours to fully transfer all data from GS7E and now this!!!
Everytime I reboot device all my previously paired device profiles get deleted.
Already Tried
-clearing the Bluetooth app cashe
-Clearing all app cashe partitions in boot menu
Really not looking to do a factory reset
Unfortunately you may have to. I had an issue somewhat like this (after restarting I'd loss all my wifi passwords) and I had to full factory reset to fix it. It was something regarding keystone (where secure things like passwords are stored) not being compatible or broken but I had been flashing different builds
How about setup smart switch to backup then restore pics and files? Smart switch over usb is many times faster and won't take as long
Did you root and/or install Xposed by any chance ?
Did not root or anything like this but ended up doing a factory reset and besides having to spend another few hours putting everything back to my liking everything is fine
Sent from my SM-G955W using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Tried toggling the switch not helping. Reboot also didn't solve. Anyone have any idea how to fix?
Update:
Ok. After my 2nd factory reset, auto rotate is back working!
What changes? First time setting up phone(1) and after 1st factory reset; i went with restore from old phone.
2nd factory i decided tp setup new and not restoring any data or config from recent back-up from old phone.
My old phone is a Pixel 6 Pro btw if it matters. I noticed by restoring from old phone, the glyph switch on notification quick panel is not there, but by setting up anew without restoring, it is there.
Did you try to do factory reset? That's the last step before writting to support i think (in this case)
Manually make it go landscape i.e in YouTube will rotate it, and move back the phone to portrait will rotate back the display.
But from portrait to landscape won't auto rotate. I guess I really need to factory reset it. I'll update again the outcome

I'm from Malaysia. So VoLTE/5G restrictions were the issue.
Yeah I know I can root which I did or install Hentai OS ROM and relock bootloader but I'm too old to still manually flash update using PC every month. Haha
