A9S Smart Watch (Not the A9) - Discussion / Thought's / HACKS & Mods - Other SmartWatches

I should be receiving the A9S sometime this week and wanted to see if anyone else has one. I've looked all over for a decent review or video and simply can not find one. As the Title suggest's I'd love to hear about anything in regards to the A9S and will update this once I receive it.
I would post a link but since I can't I'd suggest just searching for "A9S Smart Watch" on either Amazon or Ebay.

Your watchphone is based on mtk6260A therefore you can install many firmwares taken from GT08, GV08, DZ09, Iradish Y6 and list could continue . . . Check on them and choose what you like
As well, inside a firmware can be changed the watchfaces though the themes yet are untouchable (hope not for long)
Advice - if you decide to get deeper into it, by learning how to flash, before any move, make sure that first lesson is how squeeze from your phone a full backup firmware, which will bring you 0% chances to brick your phone and perfect safety in anything you'll do further

good morning

No worries, you're not the first doing a blind flashing, we'll fix it for sure
Just tell me which firmwares you checked (point me from where you got them) and what kind of issues you had
1. Phone gets bricked
2. Display shows weird colors
3. Display shows weird colors and touchscreen is working in mirror or not working at all
4. Display shows normal colors but touchscreen is a mess
5. Other issues
In this way I can figure out exactly what version you have and pick the right firmware for you

thanks for your answer...
i try to answer your questions.
1 no bricks for now
2 display doen't has color.
3 touch doen't work. only work the button.
i proved with the last gt08 firmware of needrom web.
beside i proved with no. 1 s2. with this firmware i have colors of display, sound but the touch of screen doesn't work. now my problem is the screen touch doesn't work. that's why i need the original firmware.
thanks again for your help.
bye
ahh happy new year of course.

I have a small big question, your phone is A9 or A9S??? you say is partially compatible with No.1 G2 which has mtk2502 processor - as A9

I'd be happy to share my <readback> but first need someone to instruct me how to do so. It may be going back anyway as I was misinformed by the seller in regards to features. I may end up not having to send it back though so I may have time yet to play with it. It is indeed an A9S. NOT an A9. I think some may be getting them confused but I still know very little about the A9S which is why I started this thread. I'm in the process of making a review video and I'll figure out some way to share it here once it's done.

Going solely by the image you attached. It appears to me to be an A9 watch an not the one I have which is the A9S. Either way I appreciate the input.

Your phone is kinda rarity amongst mtk, is not horse is not donkey, is not mtk6260A is not mtk2502, you have a weird mtk6260D (correct me if I'm wrong), most of people bricked them because they tried to flash mtk6260A or mtk2502... that's why your firmware extracted from your phone could fix lot of watches around
You have need just of flashtool and drivers, the process is something like this :
http://niezarmsan.blogspot.my/2015/12/how-to-install-firmware-on-dz09-mtk6260.html
the only difference is that instead <download>(which is flashing) you do <readback> (which is backup)

I should have a chance sometime this week to try and get a readback done and figure out a way to share it. Thanks for all the info!
On a side note.. I'm not thrilled with how the android apps seem to be laid out nor am I very happy with how the web version of this forum has changed. Overall it looks nice which in general is a good thing but it seems like a few steps back at the same time. Then again considering that I've yet to really contribute to the community here who am I to judge. I do feel it is a turn off to new comers though. Ok.. sorry for the rant. I'll be back once I've had a chance to try and get a readback done.

Then you'll see that this one will get back to you, once you have the readback I'll rebuild for you your original firmware, so that you'll be 100% full secure against any kind of bricking, as well from that moment I could teach you how to change watchfaces or any media (backgrounds or icons) inside your firmware, how to change hidden parameters in your watch through bluetooth from your computer and many other tricks!

1. Here at this link you find anything about this matter, do not get anything from elsewhere - link -
2. now get here - link - that guy explains pretty well - for now do just these steps: getting started and installing driver, stop there because what follows despite the gossips, become dangerous stuff for your phone
note - in the file I have prepared for you there is a full firmware DZ09, is not there for flashing, for sure is not compatible with your phone, you unzip it and use the scatter file for flashtool initialization
note: never ever press button download in flash tool!!!
another note: when test memory, be sure there is checked JUST test RAM memory, if you'll test ROM or NAND all your firmware is lost forever and as you can see hard to find one
3. now come back on xda here - link - and do the first stage (first five steps) - now you have full dump of your ROM, unfortunately the readback extractor is not working in your case (different watch processors) but you send it to me and I will rebuild manually from it a flashable firmware

ok , when I get back from work I try to recover a windows machine and try to do it.

Samsung Captivate ROM Flashing *VIDEO* How-To

All links pulled due to XDA Request after an XDA member complained I was only out for profits to a moderator on a few products I have. Due to the fact I link to a product or two and a few other things in many videos, I was asked to pull any content relating to this.
I will still be offering all this great material at my website. Just go to google and search for MobileTechVideos.
Great work!
I'm sure a lot of users will appreciate the time you put into this. I thank you for them ;-)
Good idea, but allow some constructive criticism. Too long of a video, people don't really need to know how the file structuring works, too long of a demonstration is just going to cause them to get impatient and step ahead of you, possibly bricking or causing their device to malfunction. That's all fine and good, but you forgot to emphasize that new Captivate's don't have 3-button.
It's important, because if they end up bricking it, the only way to recover is to make a usb jig to force the phone into download mode. I would say that to protect yourself, give people the proper precautions to flash. If i were to buy a captivate right now, and try to flash Cog or something with Odin and botched it up, I wouldn't be able to boot it into Download or Recovery, and would most likely have to do a warranty claim.
Long post short, I think you should definitely edit video one and make a notion of the importance of the 3-button fix. Good video over-all, and I always thought it would be a great idea to have a visible tutorial video as some people learn better from videos than they do from text or audibles, but way too much information, being well informed is best case scenario for any scene, as it would lessen the clutter of idiotic searchless support we suffer on here, but 3 parts is too much. Another thing I'd like to mention is if people need to be instructed on how to manage their screen real estate, they probably won't understand any of the video.

Thanks a lot for the comment. I know it is LONG, but the intent was to give users a Real-Time analysis and be with them step by step. I mentioned the importance of watching the video BEFORE flashing as well a few times. I included a large disclaimer as well in the beginning. This was really a shot to all the "I have no clue how to ROM" folks so I made it as newbie-proof as possible. Try to keep a, I have no clue how to do this and I'm not an IT pro type of mentality when watching as that is the TARGET audience. I'll definitely consider making a shorter version however with time-lapsed instances.
Well, great job, it's something that should definitely be worked on and stickied. If at all possible I would still recommend at most a pause and a text overlay alerting the noobs in question of the 3 button. I work at AT&T, and I deal with captivates every day, and I get a lot of people who come back in with bricked phones that don't have the 3-button fix. I would say, before they try flashing anything, make sure 3-button is present, and if it's not, stress how important it is, and stress how important it is that they follow your directions to the T if it is indeed absent, as it's the only user-friendly way to recover from a brick. I only say this because the fickle community known as the internet might take it out on you if they follow your video and end up with a doorstop.
Nice job dude, should definitely be a stickied topic, you've done a service to all of the XDA members; we won't have to answer as many questions now!

Lots of phones don't have any button combination that works, even if you are just holding the vol buttons and inserting the USB. I think he is just talking in general for people to know if their phones are cable of entering download mode via any way possible before flashing, as it is always a topic of "I bricked my phone help me" status.

I see. Nothing leading up to entering download mode will brick the phone. So basically if you are unable to enter download mode during this video, literally all you have done is backed up your applications. At this time I assume a post or comment would be made and other methods may be mentioned. See what I mean? Basically if you can't complete the step at the point of the download mode step, you won't risk getting stuck.
these are very nice videos, gret for begginers!
realy sorts things up!
one thing i am missing here...
the id restore, in all my installes i always backup the 2.1 original device id, and i had to implement it int the cog roms or any other using android id changer.
i tried it on 3 different captivates, with different rom versions of cog, all with the same results. maybe you shuld mention it in a comment or something.
my 2 cents.

Excellent point. I did forget about the ID Changer app and that the COG roms and many others were momentarily not reflashing SSID info. I'll try and cook that into the first video.
nice video bro BTW, do you necessarily have to flash back to stock rom using odin or can you just use clockwork and rom manager to do a direct flash?

You can but nobody really recommends it. Flashing back to stock is just the easiest way to ensure Vodoo or other lagfix options don't get in the way of the way the ROM was natively intended to install. I wanted to do a full wiping flash. The master clear really is going above and beyond but hey I was being an over achiever...
I think this is really nice, but it seems like there is a gap between the end of video one and the beginning of video two. You explain how to boot into download mode, but then you never actually show the flashing back to stock process, and instead skip right to re-rooting the newly flashed phone.

I can't believe I missed that. I recorded all of that footage and have it in the single bulk file but apparently missed it when cropping the file for multi-part uploading. I'll fix it tonight and thank you for pointing that out.
EDIT: I actually didn't miss that. My video project shows I cropped correctly but after producing the software unexplainably cropped incorrectly. I'm patching with the latest update and then hoping I can correctly produce that clip. I'll reupload soon. I just didn't have 30 mins available at the end to full watch the clips.
OK CLIP 2 SYNC ISSUES RESOLVED. ALL CLIPS ARE NOW INLINE...
I'm new to Android but I have some decent enough tech skills from a career in IT and tinkering. However I was absolutely terrified to do this just because of the harsh reality that bricking my phone is possible. This guide was immensely helpful and I'll probably attempt to flash to 2.2 soon. Thanks for all your work!
Should be sticky! v
I've just found your videos and while I haven't watched them yet (it's too late, tomorrow.....) I have one comment - please don't edit out info about file structure, etc. I need that kind of info! I'm hoping to learn enough to get brave and take the plunge

Any solutions?
your phone is stuffed, first of all you flashed the wrong PIT and firmware for the wrong phone the one you flashed is for Galaxy S not S2, you can try the usb jib but 99% sure it wont work, youll have to send it back to samsung or get it repaired at a repair center

You flashed galaxy S software, not galaxy s2. Different software for different hardware.

You flashed the wrong software and the wrong partition table to it... You should've read up on the links you gave in your first post before flashing. Second if you'd read up on the flashing instructions on this site you would've known not to use a pit file unless absolutely necesary. And finaly when you encounter a file named s1_odin_20100512.pit which clearly has S1 (meaning Galaxy S1) and the date 12-05-2010 (which is before the S2 was even announced) that should've made you a little suspecious as to whether you had the right files.
You can send the phone to Smasung and hope they don't find out what happened. If they don't they'll repair it for free, if they do you're screwd and you'll have to pay for the repair.
ok mate,
u have 1 of 2 options:
1- u need to send it back for the service centre
2- send it for a JTAG service close to ur place

Why didn't you actually study everything properly before doing anything like this to a top of the market phone?

I'm pretty sure our devices are idiot proof unless you go about doing absolutely absurd things like flashing the wrong files and repartitioning your device with a table of an other device. If the people would just read the risk is minimal. Like this OP who did his research AFTER bricking, if only he did it before hand. And what gets me the most, in 2 of the 3 threads he links to the answer is present. Wrong pit file need JTAG programming. But yet again instead of reading through the threads he opts to start yet another thread...

No way. I'm totally new to this and it's brain dead simple if you read at all. A million people have said don't use a pit file. But people do it anyway.

Yet another motivation why I won't bother with Rooting, roms or just flashing in General.
Flashing should be a once a in blue thing, this phone is way to fast, does not need at ALL any speed enhancements, you Should fine just experimenting apps. I highly encourage everyone not to flash daily, enjoy what you have. don't loose $800 for nothing or have regrets.

Good luck with that - your warranty is very much null, void and gone...

Google probably translated it incorrectly because it's Dutch.

There is a no need to put your pics in Development Thread. Because it will only screenshots so no point.
You can easily upload here to editing your first post.
Pretty sure you're talking about the list of "Z" apps that are found on development handsets. Your phone is not a retail model, instead it was built for OS and firmware testing. It is like a retail one in most ways - that is to say, it can probably be used as a phone - aside from the following:
1) Whoever sold it to you probably stole it (or got it from somebody who did) since they aren't supposed to be sold in stores.
2) It probably doesn't *quite* run a released version of the OS, so it may have bugs that were fixed later.
3) It may not be possible to update it using the retail update channels.
On the more exciting side, though:
1) It should support USB Mass Storage mode in the bootloader. This means you can access it exactly like a flashdrive (but hold on...)
2) It should have an unlocked boot loader (no Secure Boot) so the OS can be modified.
3) It'll have a bunch of internally-developed apps meant for testing, many of which will have unusual privileges.
4) The phones should support kernel (and other high-privilege) debugging.
Such handsets are rarely seen (since they aren't ever officially sold) and are pretty useful to hacker-types looking to find ways to unlock the phone so we can have more access into it. These days we have a fairly good grasp of the stuff that such phones might teach us about retail models, though there may still be people interested in buying that one off of you.

[BRICK ALERT] 9.0 OTA 50.XXXX .342 (RU,BY,KAZ users 1st, you?)

Guys, Russia, Belorussia and Kazakhstan started to receive 950Mb OTA from yesterday.
Lot users report black/grey line/white screen on boot, touch response, but screen not working. Sony Companion software doesn't recover (downloading same OTA firmware).
There are reports of broken TWRP and loosing TA.
Guys on 4PDA do some research, but no clear workaround yet
Most of issues with dual sim H4113 units.
Sony support confirmed mass issues, "soon" they fix it.
Be aware

it was removed from XperiFirm yesterday evening or this morning right after blame wave over support, only .123 left there. Bugged one was removed according to 4PDA member who was tracking this. I can only ask him upload if he has it on local drive.

dunno ;D guy decided to determine that marked a2 are firmware downloaded from different tool i guess. nothing behind dat.
Yep, found his post. One is downloaded using FlashTools' XperiFirm other via standalone XperiFirm. Or at least that's how I understand his post.
Did recover over 7 pcs of XA2 H4113. Had them as my employees devices.
Utilizing Sony Companion, since they had draw back 9.0 from there and replaced with XXX.123 (8.0), had to use wipe data option, otherwise it didn't work.
S/W downloads .123 and flashes it. Device seems to work as before, but some minor bugs pop-out from time to time: like Settings app crash, camera crash (on mode change), no more grey lines (buit-in tests show pass)
All of my devices were locked BL, and no OEM unlock allowed. Not flashed any custom firmware./twrp.
That helped me, but not everyone, some ppl with same state couldn't return to normal, in worst cases they played to much with bugged screen and it went hardware broken (overheat)...
The cure is not for everyone, like as that decease, there are cases of successful updating for 9.0 pie same device. Very very strange...
Had phone call from Sony after all flame, they said using Sony Companion is the only solution currently officially available, even service centers do the same procedure. Regarding stable 9.0 Pie they will report additionally.
Don't you guys have older firmwares from the flash tool? I can already imagine sony just leaving xa2 unupdated forever as they won't even try

XperiFirm has them, 8.0 all the way, please check if you need them.
Those failure 9.0 are in the links above, on your own risk, i'm not the owner.
XA2 will be updated of course, 9.0 is on road-map along with 10. It's just delayed due failures in RU/BY/KAZ, Sony girl said: "... and i think it will happen (9.0) in March" when we talk last week, i tend to believe her . And ofc i will share all the guides if i receive (looks like for failed devices we will utilize Sony companion with reset, that's just thoughts)

never heard they launched it for other regions, only 3rd grade countries were involved as pre-launch stage, kinda rough start to be honest. And as i was told global launch is shifted from 4th of March until resolved all potential risks, another test loop involved.
Did you saw something regarding CE/UK somewhere?
My phone's support app was claiming there was an update but it doesn't anymore, idk maybe it wasn't for android P

Guys, there was popped notification of 9.0 ota once again, couple days ago. Keeping in mind that previous one killed my screen driver, I decided to wait, but same day ota disappeared (cis regions)...
4pda guys now have completely different experience:
- blank screen on boot (just delay or constant)
- bad camera app experience, especially over 4k mode
- shorter battery life
Be careful.

The update is successful. Installed this morning by Xperia companion on my XA2 single SIM, everything is fine and the battery lasts longer. The only thing is that the task manager I did not find the windows with horizontal scrolling but with vertical scrolling as in android 8. For the rest it's fine.
100% battery April 8 at about 2.15pm
1:01 am on April 9th 35% Battery
The only thing is that I wanted to find the task manager with the windows horizontally, otherwise satisfied.
It's fine

If you have Magisk you can use this and select System UI. The old task manager will be back.
Well... it's a brick [.352]
I'm in Brazil. I just got the notification to reboot. I did. It now loops on a blank screen on boot.
I read about the 342 version bricking phones and was aware there was a problem. But then they released 352 and people started to report the update was fine. So I didn't really worry, although I was a little concerned in the back of my mind. But then I thought "What's the chance they SCREW THIS UP TWICE IN A ROW, and I'm one of the victims?". Well, there is my answer.
I think I'll call support now. This is a freaking mess...

Wait, no, it came back, after some 30 min or more.... What the hell? I've had several Android phones since 2010, this never happened before. I seemed bricked, looped over and over, I tried the hard reset shortcut a few times.... Then I took out the SIM to put it on my tablet, so I could call support, and the damn phone came back from the dead. Now I put the SIM back in and it works... I have no reasonable explanation for this.

New to OnePlus.

Good day. I'm a recent convert to OnePlus from LG. Learned the ins and outs of rooting and flashing on that device primarily through reading, and asking for help in the forums. Would anyone be willing to help by pointing me in the direction of info that would help me get started. Obviously I want to root and possible flash custom on this device at some point. Thanks.

Hey,
Welcome to the dark side
Here's my guide on the bootloader and root for Android 10
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8-pro/how-to/guide-unlocking-bootloader-rooting-t4151823
If you're already on 11 then just use the bootloader guide and skip to the next guide below.
Here's also my guide on how to obtain a boot img, the software needed, how to extract it, how to upgrade whilst retaining root or how to root 11 directly, 2 methods..
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8-pro/how-to/root-uk-eu-patched-magisk-boot-img-t4175033
If you have any questions, just ask away.
The OnePlus uses a two slot system..so if you're booted and you flash a boot img it'll go to the other slot.
There also no TWRP for Android 11 yet, but truth be told you simply don't need it..
My advice would be (if you want to unlock etc) is to get updated and rooted, then grab xXx NoLimits which is a magisk ROM.
Really appreciate your response! I'll do my best to not be a complete bother. I am pretty good at studying up before making attempts, but have been known to sound a bit frantic when I get into a perceived mess. Always appreciated the supportive ones in these forums. Peace!

No worries pal.
Read and create a structure in your head of what's going on.
If you're not sure then ask or eliminate the possibilities.

I just came from the Pixel line....took me a bit to get Verizon to properly activate my device but this thing is sweet. I am currently on the xXx NoLimits. The one thing I miss about Android 10 is being able to force fullscreen on certain apps of mine. I've done it for years for certain situations using a root app. Now it no longer works since they did away with the ability in A11. I did notice a "Apps to Display in Fullscreen" under Advanced in Display settings.....nothing there though. What's that all about?

Lol no idea mate, there is a thread about it but not sure if it'll gain any traction.
The emulators I use all go full screen including the cutout.
Check out my centre clock mod in themes and apps..
Plus the energy ring for battery round the camera cutout..
Just looks better
