Help!! My SD partition shrunk!!

I was playing around with kernels in fastboot the other day, and somehow my SD storage partition got all messed up. It's supposed to be 16GB, but it's only showing 5.8GB.
I ran the fastboot erase commands for boot, userdata, system, and cache, then flashed the jdq39 factory image. When I rebooted, the partition was only 5.8GB, and there were no files left on it.
I've tried formatting it in cwm recovery, but it just stays the same size. It's not showing any extra storage partition, but it almost feels like that's what happened somehow, and I just can't access the other partition. I'm also thinking that maybe the other partition I can't access possibly still contains my missing files, which I would love to recover, if possible, since I do have a nandroid on there I'd love to be able to restore!
I'm running UBUNTU and do not have windows, so if I need to do any terminal work I'm game...but I'm also a n00b, so please explain well

you might have to flash the stock system img via fastboot to fix it.

I've done a FULL flash...bootloader, radio, boot, system, userdata

You'll either follow the steps in the OP or flash stock recovery and factory reset and clear cache.

What have I done!!

I woke up this morning and in a daze decided to flash beanstalk6.17. For what ever reason it seemed to have made apps disappear and was lagging out my 6p. I was rushing out the door and in a state of panick I flash purenexus back on. This caused constant booklooping. I restored from a nandroid backup from earlier today but now I can pulldown my settings from the top and constantly have "Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stoppped. I reset all apps and it stopped for a while but as soon as I went into any app it began again.
Any help will be appreciated.

Clear the cache for Contacts and Contacts Storage. That should do it.

Cleared contact cache and still get the notification when I open phone or messages. Also cant slide down to view my quick settings.

Have you tried doing a full wipe, and fresh install of a ROM?

Did you clean flash? Sounds to me like you didn't wipe properly.

Okay so I managed to resolve the issue but now have created a even greater one. I needed to update my vendor image and when installing I accidentaly chose boot image. Now my 6p boots straight to recovery and my twrp data is encrypted and it wont accept my unlock code so I cant access my data to recover. I have a copy of a backup on my pc if that helps. Any guidance would be apprieciated.

Taking a guess, but I think you need to flash proper Vendor img. Can you adb reboot bootloader while phone is in TWRP? If so then at boot loader, reflash the vendor.img.

You'll need to flash the correct boot.img back to the device.
EDIT: Unless I'm misunderstanding you. Did you flash the boot.img to the vendor partition or flash the vendor.img to the boot partition?

I flashed the vendor.img to the boot partition.
Edit: Going to attempt flashing the boot.img now

[URGENT] Any way to recover my data after flashing a rom?

Dear all
My Nexus 6p was hard bricked yesterday and keep bootloop. I did flash twrp and a stock image by adb but the phone still could not turn on.
I try to use the hair dryer to heat my phone like this way (youtube.com/watch?v=fVghgGWoWa4) (sorry that I am a new user and I cant post the link)
And then my phone can be booted into the system but all of my data lost since I did flash the stock rom.
So may I ask that is there any way for me to recover back my data in this case? ( especially app data and my photo since there are some extremely important data for me......)

How did you flash a stock ROM with ADB? adb sideload? Full OTA? Shouldn't have wiped internal storage.
Or you flashed a factory image from bootloader with flash-all script? Or fastboot flash?
If you used flash-all or you fastboot flashed userdata.img, i think your datas are lost.

Ys i did flash it from bootloader with flash-all script......:crying::crying::crying:
Now my data are all wiped out and the system is clean.
So is there any way to recover my data back? Because the data is really important for me:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

Hello,
You should likely have thought about it before flashing a factory image...
Maybe there are professional forensic tools that could work. But unfortunately i don't know their names or where to find them.

I flashed the image because i thought there is no any other way to boot my phone....
I have never thought that I can save it with a hair dryer I brought my phone to the mobile fixing shop and they did say the phone could not be fixed therefore i just flashed the image and try.

Looks like fail to flash a ROM because forgot to unlocked bootloader or wipe data in recovery mode, while the ROM you flashed is a stock one, no a custom one. If you have unlocked bootloader, you can see a lock appear in the boot screen.
You can go to the recovery mode and try to fix your brick phone by wipe data and cache partition, maybe you can boot you phone successfully after doing these.
You data is not really gone, in fact, you can recover the data by using some tool.

This tool seems designed for a phone that bootloop. Not a device which userdata partition has been wiped and overwritten afaik...

I know it's too late.
I normally edit the flash_all to *NOT* wipe the phone and only do an update.

You can have your photos if Google sync is on, but your App data is gone.

Yeah the flash-all script includes a -w wipe command. You could of removed it before flashing to keep data. But after that it's bye bye baby. The only way is probably some type of software forensics tool. But keep searching cause I don't everything and maybe you can tell the FBI there info on it about terrorist and they can brute force in. Then you got your pics back.

Can't get back to Stock ROM (what am I doing wrong?)

History of what I did:
I first installed the first small OTA Update to 4.5.1 then unlocked the Bootloader and flashed TWRP v46 from xdvs23. And made a full TWRP Backup and flashed Magisk afterwards.
Everything worked fine until I debloated the System and wanted to make the OTA Update to 4.5.2 (1,5 GB), which didn't work. After I flashed it, the phone didnt boot anymore. So I restored the TWRP Backup, which doesn't work either.
Current status:
TWRP v58 is flashed and works. I can flash ExcperienceOS from Jamal, which works fine, too. But flashing the OTA file doesn't work and restoring my backup wont work either -_-
I would really appreciate help to get back to an OTA updatable version of OxygenOS!

If you still have the TWRP installed I would download the full 4.5.2 zip (Listed elsewhere on these forums) and use adb sideload to install it, then proceed again from there.

I did that several times. It doesn't work sadly... I get into a bootloop

You didn't erase your userdata partition by mistake did you? You could try going into fastboot mode and use the command:
fastboot format userdata
Obviously this will wipe the userdata partition but the phone is acting like there's no userdata partition anyway

Or just wipe everything, flash stock recovery, and flash Full OxygenOS zip.

How about trying to wipe everything from wipe menu except internal storage and then flash the oos zip followed by lazy flasher zip from here - bit.ly/lazyflasher
If this doesn't work then try changing to a different version of TWRP!

You didn't do these steps wrong by any chance?
Steps To Disable Forced Encryption i.e, Decrypt Data
1. At first time when you open twrp, it will ask you to allow system modification.
2. Allow it and then flash the no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip file .
3. Then Go to Wipe-->Format Data.
4. Type Yes to confirm wiping of Internal Storage.
5. Now you have decrypted the data sucessfully.
Note: Dont try to restore the nanodroid backup which you have taken before. It may end in bootloop.

I failed hard. Luckily the OnePlus Support is excellent and was able to fix my issue with a remote session using their official tools. The Phone and I are both happy again.

How to (re) encrypt?

I had some complex issues flashing some roms and ended up having to format userdata. Now I am unencrypted and I have not been able to get the stock rom (from the official OTA zip) to boot. I was able to get all 3 of the custom OOS roms in the development section to boot, however when i go into settings and start encryption the green android logo flashes on the screen and the device does a hot reboot without starting encryption. I have tried countless things to boot the stock rom and/or get encryption to work including flashing the stock recovery on a custom rom, and the stock recovery asks for a pattern and mine doesn't work. I am totally out of ideas so if anyone has any please help.

solved: i previously did fastboot format userdata and it didn't work. I just did fastboot format userdata, system, and cache and the full ota zip installed, the security settings say it's encrypted, and i was able to decrypt with the stock recovery. Time to flash twrp and break more stuff!

Encryption
I believe the phone encrypts when you put a screen lock on.
I put a pin on mine booted in to recovery and it was encrypted, rebooted phone, removed pin, rebooted recovery everything back to normal.

Flashing stock boot.img in bootloader mode should encrypt the phone too.

Where or how can one extract/get the stock boot.img?
