I just got these really cool new headphones. The sound quality is great. The volume is nice and loud and they dont look like Mickey Mouse ears (ala the HT820), The one very BIG issue I have with them is that when I am making a phone calls only the left ear works!
Is there some way to get this thing to play in both ears. This is such a great device but the fact that it only plays in one ear makes it unusable for me as I work in a very loud environment and need it to play in both ears!
Any Ideas?
I just got off of the phone with Motorola. Apparently when the device receives a mono sound like a phone call it only plays the sound in one ear.
What we need is a way to trick the device into thinking that it is getting a stereo sound when making voice calls. Is there a way to do this?
Same problem here (left earphone only telephone calls). I hope that one of the gurus of the forum will come up with a solution. Are you using any of the registry tweaks or patches, and if so which ones? Thanks a lot.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
I am using a stereo bluetooth headset from Sony Ericsson, and It doesn't have your problem, when I click "turn hands-free on", both ear pieces works although it's mono sound.
But I have a question to ask, which media/MP3 player do you use to listen stereo bluetooth? I checked around Windows Media Player menu and it doesn't have a function like "switch to headset". I don't know how to link the audio to my bluetooth stereo headset for listening MP3.
Can anyone help me??
You need to enable Joint Stereo audio instead of Mono. I think you can do this in the most recent LVSW release (in the HTCtweakUI), and it can be done on any phone with a simple registry hack. Just search the forums and wiki for "joint stereo" and you should come up with something.
1. Navigate to "LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings" in the registry.
2. Use Joint Stereo to 0.
This change did not fix the problem. When I try and make a call its makes a LOUD beep in both ears then starts to play from just the left ear.
There has to be a way to make the headset think that it is getting stereo sound during voice calls.
RTFM the manual clearly states that during headset use the left ear is mono
that would because the right ear is the mic.

This makes sense. Even if the mic embedded in the right earphone is a separate unit, sound coming from an adjascent earphone would have sent some feed-back to the mike. If it is the situation then there is no hope for us I guess. In any case, instead of a microphone extending towards my mouth or dangling on a cord I much prefer this configuration. Especially when riding my motorcycle it works great in the helmet.
Hi all,
well Im also a user of the S9 und must say the music sound is fantastic, but the mono call audio is just not good enough... Did anyone come a cross a way to make that stereo too or is there a way to increase the volume ?
Otherwise: does anyone now a better in ear round the neck device that does stereo on calls ?
Generally I very much like the fit of the S9 and that its slim an not bulky round the neck
Greetings
Paddy
I have an odd question why is speakerphone on phone calls so crunchy sounding and music so clear? Same speaker isn't it?

Most logical is the radio signal quality (even with 100% signal strength)
i guess
If you check the wiki of the Universal you will find a registry edit that will allow you to edit the properties of the speakerphone. After some trial and error you should be able to find a setting that makes it easier to listen to people with the speakerphone.
hi there,
did some searches, read some wiki and didn't find anything. tried on a french forum but doesn't look like they have the solution. the level is so weak that I can't use my stereo htc headset with a senheiser intraauricular headphone outdoor just to get some phone calls!!
the only thing I did was to edit the SetAcousticParam??.csv files.
and set all the value of the codecRxGain line and rxVolume to 4000.
but to no results!
quite desparate!
i just turn up the dial on my BT headset, it is loud and clear
seems like your headset is poor quality.
i use:
Jabra BT8010
Sony DS970
Moto HT820
they all good with their normal out of the box volume level
in noisy environment, i just crank it up, but usually i leave it on default "mid" volume
I use the htc headset to get the stereo and the ability to choose my earphone: seinheiser intraauricular.
I have been looking into increasing the mic volume on my X1 when using a wired headset, as people have commented that my voice is too low when on a call. There were no complaints relating to the volume of my voice when I used my previous handset, K850i, and the Sony Ericsson standard wired headset, HPM-62, so I started researching the issue. I came across a lot of other users who have used Windows Mobile devices, specifically HTC devices, and who also experienced the same issue, however, they resolved it by using this registry tweak.
I checked the registry on my X1, but there are no audio gain options present and I was unable to create them successfully. I was wondering, has anybody managed to increase the mic volume on calls, in general or when using a headset, either via a registry tweak or by software?
I actually never had this problem. I check the registry and couldn't find any in-call related audio settings. Can't help you there I'm afraid.
Wonder if it will work if we just import these settings from another phone with these registry values present.
Can somebody post them?
I don't think it uses that system any more, instead it uses the .cpl files in windows to control audio levels.
Have you tried a different wired headset? it might just be a quality control issue with your one?
the only person who ever complains that they can't hear me on mine is my other half, but as I've pointed out, it's just another great excuse to moan at me, (she hears that bit fine)...
You could try one of the mini-USB wired headsets around (as long as it's not a silly HTC bizarreusbplugfittingthing),
something like this; http://gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=15774 (but not that one as the cable broke really quickly on the one I had).
I had one for my athena and it was pretty loud.
Not tried one on the X1 as I'm happy with the levels out of the standard headset.
[edit]
just had a thought, have you tried microphone automatic gain control? (it's in settings)
there are registry entries for that.
HKCU/software/htc/softagcdata (this on ITJES rom anyway, which uses quite a lot of Htc stuff).
