No love for the Note Pro. :crying:
Can't say I'm surprised. I was just happy to get it to 5.x. I'd be willing to be Samsung is going to sit on their hand for a bit to see if Apple releases iPad Pro sales figures and if they're good they'll build an updated Note Pro 12.2.

Seriously? This thing is over 2 years old and you're surprised it's not getting 6.0?
Meh. I'm satisfied with what I've got. If an update in hardware specs comes out in 2016 I'll consider an upgrade but otherwise this thing runs fine. Google now on tap is cool but not something that I can't live without.

To me it is 3 months older than my S6 edge and I paid top dollar for the SOB! It should get at least one major update to the next gen OS. Mine came with Lollipop. It is not at all a reach whatsoever to expect Marshmallow.

It came out in February 2014.
If memory serves, years ago (i think it was google i/o 2011?) Google asked major manufacturers to commit to update support for a period of 18 months after launch of a device. Since the note pro was announced in January of 2014 we are well beyond that time frame so yeah, it's not a surprise to not see a 6.0 update coming.

I'm in no hurry for Marshmallow. I was all geeked up about getting Lollipop. It looks different, but I have seen no difference in battery life or performance in coming from KitKat. Unless Marshmallow is going to introduce something really new (not just be a matter of a few internal changes and a new skin) then I'm good with continuing to use Lollipop.
I'm actually downgrading back to KitKat tonight just so I can root again. =(
What about 5.1.1 ? Can we expect this update for the note pro ? (SM-P900)

Yeah and its called towelroot...
By the way isn't the note pro a flagship tablet? Cause if then we still can have a hope for an 6.0 build... Sammobile.com claims that all flagship since begin of 2014 will get 6.0...

Meh . . As an advanced user with a rooted device and a few useful tools (Greenify and Amplify for Xposed) I'm able to get standby power consumption on my wifi Note Pro down to a near negligible trickle. I just forgot my Note Pro at the office last night; having unplugged it from the charger at 100% I failed to put it into my bag before leaving for the night. I just got back to the office 12hrs later to find the tablet at 97% . . it had sat on wifi the whole time and my emails were still all synced.
No doubt that for the average user who doesn't want to go through the effort or doesn't want to root Doze takes a lot of the effort out of accomplishing better battery life. Good stuff for sure, just not necessarily mind blowingly good IMO.
It's posts like these that manufacturers never pay attention to. They are in the business of making NEW product. They do NoT see profit in supporting previously sold product. Sad and myopic.
But...the note pro 12.2 has hardware specs that are hard to beat.
I can see the little guy in Korea going crazy trying to figure out how to monetize having made a great product that people, get this, "want to keep".

I have a Verizon Galaxy Note 3. with Android Version: 4.3, Jellybean... I have avoided updating to Kitkat since I had heard that it was "unrootable" at this point.
Recently, I cracked the screen on my phone and would like to get an insurance replacement from Asurion. I am worried that I may get a phone from them with Kitkat on it. (or maybe even Lollipop?)
What are my options for keeping root?
IF I get a phone that still has Jellybean on it, is my best option for getting Lollipop+Root, to install Safestrap on my phone, and then install something like JasmineROM?
Thanks!
This happened to me. They'll send you one with 5.0 or 4.4.4 NK1. Ended up just buying an LG G3 full retail and keeping the note 3 as a spare.

I would personally look into the cost of having your screen replaced.
Asurion is going to charge you $100. deductible if I'm not mistaken.
Plus you will more than likely get a phone with at least 4.4.4 on it and maybe even lollipop. Neither of which will be rootable, 4.4.2 was the last version that is rootable at this point.

4.4.4 and maybe 5.0 are rootable just not public

I moved up to the Note 3 from the S3 because the charging port quite working and Asurion wanted $150 deductible. It's no longer worth having the insurance if they're going to start charging 1/3 of the cost of a new phone plus the monthly fee.

No offense dude, but it sounds like your talking out your ass. If it's the vulnerability that I am thinking about that was specifically pointing out 4.4.4 aosp, that has been around for months now and was posted for all to see here sometime ago. You keep saying root is coming, but then you said you haven't even started it yet. I sure hope you are not lying to the good folks of XDA-Developers.

I'll give a more detailed response, probably should have did that from the start . Its broad anywhere/settings intent; the system passes it privileges to an app when adding an account. Using this we can push the required binaries for su access. There's probably other ways to do this as well. This Is also present in both 4.4.4 and 5.0
So when I said I'm working on it I'm creating an application that will carry the pay load and carry out the code.
Don't worry, I'm not going to ruin my reputation with false root claims. Its coming one way or another.

Good luck to you.
I've got faith in CovXX getting this done. The vulnerability has been know for several months, but nobody has attempted to use it on the Note 3 before, that's why it's not happened yet. Most devs working on root have jumped ship to the Note 4 or other phones prior to 4.4.4 being released on the Note 3. It's good to have at least one dev remaining to attempt it.

Not for our device
i'm still relatively new to this "having a non modded phone that gets official updates" thing, so the questions i bring up might be stupid
i've been talking to a friend that has the exact same phone that i have (galaxy s7 edge g-935F), his phone is on G935FXXU1APDH whereas mine is still on G935FXXU1APCD
phones aren't carrier locked/branded, exact same model, only difference being he lives in the UK while i live in germany
my firmware is months old too and even worse, according to this site ( http://www.sammobile.com/2016/04/26...-s7-galaxy-tab-3-lite-galaxy-note-5-and-more/ ) i'm supposed to be on a far newer firmware already, yet my phone brings up nothing whenever i manually check for updates (look for Germany (O2)(VIA))
does anyone know what is causing this because if i'll be stuck with the months old firmware, i'd rather root this thing and throw a custom rom on it
update: got sick of waiting and manually ODIN'd a much newer version on it, am now on G935FXXU1APEQ
by the way my battery life is a bit better now
Honestly, we went back to older firmwares for the battery life. Maybe your phone is telling you that might be a good thing for now [emoji23]

nope, still as stuck on APCD as ever
honestly by this point, if you're feeling lucky, you might as well just look into ODINing an update onto your phone by yourself
I am sticking to the APCD version now for 9 months or so. Did any of you with the same problem get an update in the meantime? If not, what would be the correct rom to be flashed?
I'm still on g935fxxu1bpjg UK unbranded!
Samsung is busy with S8 so please wait for one year...
As the title says, there's no quick settings on my tablet, when i upgraded my rom to mm, it's th same one as per galaxy s6, waiting for a fix maybe...

This is the first phone that I have not rooted. I like using Samsung Pay and Android Pay, so until someone makes those work with root I'll stay stock.
There are apps that I desperately need that won't work correctly on Android versions above Lollipop. Is there any way I can downgrade from Nougat to at least Lollipop?
No
You can only downgrade to versions that had a version for this phone. G5+ is a Nougat phone, so you can't go below that.

Since I don't have a PC rn (I'll get one ASAP) I need to use Limbo and a couple other emulators to run (albeit slowly) some old PC software. It worked on my Oppo Find 7, but this phone doesn't run anything other than Windows 95 because of emulator compatibility issues with Android Nougat. Even Damn Small Linux crashes on boot with Bochs for Android.
So, if I understand this correctly....
The G5+ sucks because a 3rd party developer hasn't updated their own app, because you want to run 22 year old software on a completely different architecture, and it doesn't work pristine 100% of the time?
This is why this phone sucks?
Why don't you have your parents buy you a computer instead of a cell phone then?

Nooo, my phone is great, I just don't like the Android version. And FYI, it runs Win95 fine, but I need it to run NEWER software (still a bit old) like my OPPO Find 7 could.
I won't ask my parents to get me a PC because, one, they wouldn't get me one for some bullcrap reasons, and two, they always get me really bad PCs that crash all the time, and I'd rather just save up for my own PC.
