Horrible battey life with LG G Flex 2 and Gear Live - Wear OS Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my gear live and the battery on my LG G Flex 2 has been horrible! Kernel (on the phone) has been using 50% of the battery since I got the watch. I've disabled Google Fit but don't know what else to do. Can someone offer suggestions?

Can a mod please change the title to say "battery" instead of "battey"? I didn't see that until after I posted it.

How to tell if battery is defective?

I am within the return period of my G2, but not sure if my battery life is normal or not? I get 3-4 hours screen time on VZW 4G, with sync on and all GPS and NFC related stuff off, running a de-bloated LG rom. All the reviews I have read they getting 6-8 hours of screen time, pretty much twice of what I am getting. Is this normal or do I have a defective devices? I kind of don't want to return as I have a screen protector I got at the same time I got the G2 and hat the store install so that makes transferring the protector harder? If it really is defected, then I must return it, but how can one tell if battery is really defective or actually normal?
On a side note I know people with Galaxy S4 getting similar battery life as me, but I would think that would be expected since the S4 has a smaller battery vs the G2. Thanks.

Depends on many things and mainly what brightness level u get the screen time u mentioned for. It is normal to get way less screen time with 100% brightness than say with 50% or less brightness. Also u don't mention where u get the said screen time. Is it browsing the net or watching youtube vids for example or playing heavy 3d games? That affects screen time as well. Way too little info u shared here for anyone to be able to really help you...
Try disabling sync, Google now, and have it on 50% auto brightness...it has helped me a lot.

The OP has a point. I have seen that the Android System takes almost the half of the battery stamina. And after tracking what exactly it came up that the Radio drains to much battery. I try to find solution or anything but didn't find anything yet.....

I used wakelock detector. The app showed me that the most power is gone to the radio.
I can't understand a sh*t. Everything was fine and suddenly it starts to consume power like hell. I disabled play services and all apps except play store. Removed unused apps even those from LG like dictionary etc. Now i am at 87% with 1hr 14min screen time and android system is still with biggest rate of power consume. At least android os is no more second power consumer....... i am goin nuts right now....
Even my SXL after all updates with everything on has less power drain then the G2...and the most consume comes from the screen.
I disabled knock on and I am at 85% with 1h 8 min sot. Android OS is the second highest drain but android system has settled down a bit.

Anyone switched directly from the G3 to the V20?

I have the G3 and the battery life is not bad. I'm debating between the pixel and the V20. I'm curious how the G3 battery life compares directly with the V20. I know everyone is interested in sharing their battery story and if you have another phone you want to talk about I'll be happy to start another thread. It doesn't help cover my question if people are switching from the G4 or G5 or note or a vibrator or an iPhone... I have a G3 so that is the only frame of reference that will mean anything to me.
It's about the same. Traded in my G3 for the v20 and so far the only thing that's great is the audio on my headphones. Dropped calls and bad LTE connections along with some lag have made me consider taking it back.
OMG get the v20! Switched from the G3 and guessing double the battery life after a week of use. Much better LTE signal strength with fewer dead spots. Killer audio, camera, and love the always on screen.
Looked at a pixel but for the extra cost of about $250 on VZ plus getting the removable battery and SD card I was down for the v20.
This phone is killing the G3. Battery life is waaay better. And I had Greenify and Amplify on my G3. It was rooted and booted but this V20 is 2 steps up without root. Probably get a day and a half once root comes out. Jk. Lol.
THanks for the response - the reason I ask is - I've turned off a ton of apps I don't use and get very good battery life on my G3. I have BT on 24x7.
It has been 24 hours since my last charge - I have 62% battery life remaining. Talk time 1.5 hours - normally I use my phone about 4.5 hours a day - I use it as my office line for tech support.
Anyone here use their phone as a phone a lot?

Basically my phone on standby I have black and white on cause I used it last night and its better on the eyes I just haven't turned it off lol
I too switched from my very loyal/dependable G3 to the V20. I've had the V20 since Oct 29th and I can say without reservation that it blows my old G3 away. I was running Resurrection Remix ROM on my G3, and the V20 still smokes it....regardless of no root/locked bootloader. The only thing I miss is the CM13 theme engine/Layers...but I still think the V20's responsiveness and features make up for it.
I am on Verizon and I've noticed that the signal strength is much better on the V20 compared to what I had on the G3. So far, I am confident that I made the right choice. Also for me, battery life is much better on the V20 and that is with its little 2nd screen on the entire time.... I average a day and half to 2 with moderate to heavy usage. My old G3 would only last about a day.
I did seriously contemplate the Pixel XL, but when I finally had one in hand and compared it to the V20, it was a no brainer for me.....removable battery and expendable local storage sealed the deal.
Good luck with your decision(s)....
I only just changed to the V20 yesterday, so far so good. I will still keep my G3 , it still holds its weight when comparing to other handsets on the market. Though the 2Gb ram was starting to show it's not good enough anymore with android 6.
I just got my V20 today and i have to so far I am loving it over my G3, idk about battery life yet as I killed the battery during setup and restoring my apps.
Thanks for your replies. I look forward to your opinions on the battery.
Well I still have 2X LG G3 and 1X Samsung galaxy s4 . But because my LG V20 came defective from factory i had to return it, but for the short period i used it, i can say it is way better than the LG G3 on Every aspect without exception! (im still waiting for my new LG V20 to come (STUPID BACKORDERS!)) The LG G3 >rooted with AICP or Resurrection Remix would last about 18 hours with screen off, and 3-4:50 hours with screen on device in normal usage, not heavy such as Youtube video on 1440p. Yet with the LG V20 with screen off, i lost about 1 percent every 4 hours with screen off . and screen on i got 6+ hours of normal usage. (i have 35 user apps installed on my LG G3 and also had them on my LG V20, many of them were constantly synchronizing such as package tracker pro, zooper widget pro, among others)
My V20's battery life is just about exactly what I was getting with the G4 and the G3.

Bummer - but good to know. I'm hoping the Motorola ? or Lenovo P2 come to Verizon soon as I'll need to make a decision soon. I know it a fancy recording device is important to others but I use my phone to make phone calls 95% of my use time is phone calls. Maybe 5% of the time I'll check email or text and once in a while when travelling use GPS. So cameras and recording don't matter - call reception and battery life are king for me. They both have similar thickness to the V20 but include a 5100mah battery!

If battery life is king, then the Moto Z Play is the phone you want.

Thanks - same company but it has a 3510mah battery. I'm going to guess the new model with the 5100mah battery will last longer.

Maybe. Depends on other factors. Pretty much any review you read will say that the Moto Z Play can last days. I've seen reports of 7 to 10 hours of SOT. That's without the battery mod.

I don't know if the P2 when released will have a Verizon option so I'm still hoping to find something with good battery life worth upgrading to without wasting an upgrade. I'd also love the ZenFone 3 Max which only has a 4100mah battery.

New Battery Drains Fast

Hey guys. So I have the LG G3 and I just got a new battery. However, I just noticed that the battery drains really fast and charges very slowly. I contacted the store in case the battery was just defective so they sent me a new one but the latter works the same. Fast drain, slow charge. I formatted my phone thinking an app was causing it to drain, but I'm still experiencing the same issue. Can someone please help me? I really need to fix it.

If you formatted your phone and then reloaded all the apps back on, you haven't changed anything. It might be worth getting a battery-logging app to see if there are any rogue apps making that happen. Also, you might get more help in the LG G3 Forum:

(This is the G6 Forum) Good luck!

Moto X Style Battery Stuck at 0! Please help!! [Indian Variant]

My phone actually had fallen into the water for 2 seconds 6 months ago, everything is working fine, except my battery wont charge, i.e it is stuck at 0. It isnt increasing like it should normally!
So, wanted to request for an old Moto X Style, someone who isnt using it anymore, so I could just swap the batteries in it and check if the problem is in battery or not. If it is, then I would just keep that battery. The battery is hard to find because it's a 2 year old model.
Its been making me curious for the past 6 months, as to I should buy the battery and check or not. Any suggestions?
