S920L unlocking help - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, like several people on this forum, i got the Galaxy Grand Prime S920L variant (Straight Talk/Tracfone).
As you know, only the stock kernel and stock recovery have been posted so far.
I'm willing to donate a little to someone able to provide the files & steps to unlock this device so that it accepts Sim from other companies. So if anyone can help or point me towards the right direction it will be greatly appreciated. :highfive:

Just a thought....If your on Straight Talk, call the toll free number (you will NOT have to talk to any real person doing this) transfer your SIM card to the T-Mobile or AT&T card variant and then you should have an Unlocked SM-S920L. Let me know if this helps.

That won't work.

Thanks for the suggestion fellas. I need proper unlocking though because i need to be able to use a mexican company sim (such as Telcel or Movistar). So if any developer out there is reading, im still willing to donate a little to anyone who can help me unlock this phone. Cheers!

you cant simply just unlock the sim card with a nsap of your fingers, and honestly, straight talkj is pretty strict about it... you ll have to look at the unlocking policy located on the bottom of their website..
must have phone on service for 12 months or more
must not been filed as lost or stolen
etc
etc
etc
whatever it says...

I know we cant just unlock with a finger snap, that's why we are here on XDADevelopers. We also know about their terms & conditions, but again, thats why im requesting the useful help of of XDADevelopers, thank you.

i doubt there would be a way to bypass the carriers systems to unlock the sim card..... it think you would have to hack their databases and allow an unlock on your #

ACTUALLY, there is a way to unlock the device that doesn't go anywhere near hacking a corporate database and is truly closer to a finger snap. It requires the use of dialer codes, service program menu editing and the MSL/SPC code. Unfortunately, I cannot recall the specific steps, which is why I'm searching this forum today. I hope the writer of this post has found a solution and I apologize profusely for not being able to relay more information. I just had to stop the influx of ignorance in this thread. FYI folks: people come here for answers and information, not for your erroneous assumptions. K?

IMEI-Reader ! Help-me !

Hi guys, I need some help !
First of all, I'm Software developer, where I'm working to make an automation for production in my company...
I need some software to read the IMEI and if is possible another informations from HTC phones....but the more important information is read the IMEI numbers, to store in our data-base to control the production !
If any know how to do / where have some software... let-me know !
Thanks in Advance.
Rodrigo.
Everyone here would love to help you out if you are able to start SIM Unlocking our phones.... so whatever we can help you out with, let us know.
I am not aware of any software that does what you're looking for, but I suggest you look up people in the Kaiser forum who have managed to SIM Unlock their phones in here as well as other phone forums have managed the same.
They may be able to give you the best guidance.
i dont know about software but *#06# tells it to you. tmobile has you do that to give it to them when you ask to unlock your phone. also if anyone needs unlock codes to help with the algorithms i have mine still, but will not post the ieme.
We should organize and find a way to Sim unlock these phones ...
I wonder what we would need ... if we can all get together, but one and send it to Pof or olipro or something... and get them to unlock it... or if we can dump the software off of it for them to look at.. any one have any ideas?

Possible to unlock?

Hello,
Is it possible to unlock this phone? I am currently on Orange with it but would like to use it on o2.
Thanks for your help.
There is no free tool available yet, so you have to pay for an unlock code. Just take a look in the forum, you will find various offers.
Thanks for the quick reply. I wasn't necessarily looking for a free code, i was questioning weather my local phone shops would be able to do it. I will give them a call when i finish work just to make sure.
Thanks.
You don't necessarily need certain software/hardware to get it unlocked.
As long as you are willing to pay and trust the company, you need to provide imei code, model and network and then you will receive the unlock code which can be easily entered to the device without need for any specific applications.

[Q] Unlocking Desire HD

Hi there,
I found few websites that offer an unlock code, but I just wanted to check it with you guys which service is the most reliable.
My Desire HD is on its way to me, but it will be locked to T-Mobile UK and I will need it unlocked.
Any recommendations? Or perhaps there is a DIY, free way to unlock it?
Thanks
Yep, there is a free way to unlock it. Over in the Dev section there is a tool to Root, S-OFF, Unlocked CID & SimUnlock all in one.
If you dont want to do all that and just unlock the SIM, I have personally used http://www.unlock-now.com/ for my HTC Hero. I had no problems, and I got a code in 15 minutes.
I've just checked and they support the DHD, just make sure you use your Paypal account, "just in case" there are any problems, atleast you'd get your money back.

Thanks a lot for a clear answer
I'll try the "free" way first, otherwise I will go to the site you provided.
Although when you said about money back I'm not sure about this. I bought something once from one of the worldwide websites and something went wrong and when I wanted to get my money back, PP said that they don't support "other" websites than eBay. But it may have changed now.
Thanks for your help anyway I will definitely go for it.
No problem at all.
I can confirm that if you log in to your PayPal account then pay, you should still be covered. I previously tried to buy a unlock code for my Hero from >> www.htccode.com <<, I did not recieve my code and submitted a PayPal dispute. After 21 days or so I got my money back.
I wouldn't recommend that site to anyone, others may have used it and had success. Strangely Google Chrome now flags the site "Malware Detected".
Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S which can be easily unlocked by code. A friend want to buy a HTC Desire HD, so we want to know about the unlock as well.
I was looking at the Tool Radio S-Off. I want to know if it's the same as unlocking by code, or I will lost my SimUnlock by restoring the Desire HD?
The tool in the Dev section is very different from a code you would normally buy.
If you or your friend is comfortable and experienced in using the SDK, adb & fastboot then you should have no problems in using this tool.
Make sure you read & re-read any steps before you perform them. I almost bricked my wife's SGS! - Fortunately her's did not have a faulty download/recovery.
I almost broke my SGS many time and I have a faulty device without R&D. Luckily, it can be fixed but I always check its avaibility before every flash.
My friend know nothing about IT in general, that's why I want to know there is a tool which can generate the code like the case of SGS (as I understand, the code is available in the phone itself for the SGS, but it may not be the case for the Desire HD).
I don't know how this tool works, whether it retrieves a stored code or not.
If you've read though the guides and its something you'd want to try both for the experience and an unlocked DHD then I'd be happy to help should you get stuck.
EDIT: Here is the link for the unlock guide --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857444

Will I loose unlock when Android will be updated to future firmwares?
No, once you have SimUnlocked your DHD that is it. It will not locked again.

Good
So is this guide good for the first-time-android-user? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857444
What's missing in this guide for noobs? Things like, at which point should I connect my DHD to the computer? Does all these apps work under win7 64-bit? Or do I have to install any additional software etc etc?
Thanks

That's what that code is made for to reset data as in erase data profile. If you want to do it manually ##3282# and you can edit that way.
No offense but your customers are at fault for trying Sprint dialer codes when they should have read (it has been discussed here before) that it will get stuck on the activating/provisioning screen when no longer on the Sprint network. They should have read as I'm assuming they found that dauler code with a google search .it shouldn't be on you.

Well why don't you research before posting in a forum. Have you read forum rules. If not you need to do the work yourself before asking others. The answer to your question is easily found with a Google search.

Wow. I gave you all you need. If you are unlocking phones and selling them and you don't know what the hidden menu is then you are the stupid one.
what are you talking about? im not unlocking the phone im not looking for hidden menus im looking for a way to disable dialing that code... you should read that first post again before giving answers that has nothing to do with the question

diagnostic mode for verizon tab 4 sm-t537v

after hours of browsing and finding no help i figured out a easy way to get diag mode with diag port for my pc my tab is 90% flashed im stuck at writing a regular prl every one iv tried to write i get an error saying something about the prl length is overloaded / to much for this device the prl i tried are the basic 3g prls used when flashing to Verizon pp such as 0001,2 and 3 and such; any help would be appreciated
to get into diag in this device root is not necessary all you have to do is install a app called shortcut master.apk i used the full version the lite version might work but i dont know,
once installed open it and go to app explorer scroll down till you see usb settings you will see two choices
usb settings and usbsettings
touch the 2nd one usbsettings
you will then see three choices choose the 1st one usbsettings
you will be giving three choices choose the 1st one which is launch viola magic
choose the option all the way to the bottom you you are now in diag mode and have diag ports in device manager on your pc
spc is the same as all verizon devices and 16 digit pw is the same one for samaung i920 i dont know it its integrated into cdma ws if you dont have it look it up
this device flashes like all other verizon devices with the exception of the dang prl issue where im stuck at any help on that would be nice
this is info for the know hows im sorry i dont have the time or patients teach ppl how to flash thats not why i made this thread so please dont ask me how to do this and how to do that ive helped as much as i could here
PUNCTUATION !!!
And this seems suspiciously like a question, which probably belongs in q&a.
no clue what a prl is, but about the overload/oversize portion of your thread/post,
have you tried trimming out padding [hex]
you're flashing the crap out of your device
and can obviously manage your business so,
it couldn't hurt to experiment...,
and use a comma once in a while.... and the occasional period.
:silly:
m
after thought, dd write to dec/hex address ?
1st off all i was typing from my phone with swype but i care nothing about punctuations, 2nd if you are coming on here to criticize then move around , this is in a since a help thread but mostly to help others,i haven't seen anything anywhere providing the info i have, and last but not least i don't run a bushiness i don't even flash for money i do this for fun and for fun only so i am asking you to please stay out o this thread with any negativity

My question in response to yours was about attempting modifying the file via hex editor to remove padding, and so reduce the size of the
file, and maybe achieve a successful flash since, from your jumbled mess of a post, the best i was able to decipher was that may be the
issue.
My compliment to you was to aknowledge that you are clearly skilled in managing your device. As such, I passed the suggestion
concerning the hex editor approach and alternately the dd approach to circumvent the issue, [risky yes]
Since you want to be a fathead , my insult to you is as follows;
If you lack a sense of humour, then shove your head in a blender and you may find it. :good:
If you are meaning to create a guide thread, then do so neatly and clearly. You are not as bright as you think.
You are certainly free to request the moderator to remove my post. However "Genius" my question remains.
m
well i apologize, i m no t here for grama nor does anywhere in the faqs require one to use it, i am also not here to argue with you , i am getting the point across and that is that . with that being said thanks for the compliment , i am some what a seasoned flasher but do it only for fun don't have a business here., and i know nothing about editing prls. this maybe a help tread in a since to you but it is more so to help others whom were seeking this info but didn't know where to find it
What about the trick with any cut.apk and test.prl ?
