Folks,
I have leaved my HTC touch HD with windows 6.1 to Android 2.3 Gingerbread on the android Galaxy SII.
Well, I am enthousiastic because for the moment I'm not satisfied but I am confidant that this platform will be improved soon.
Here after the lacks / regressions I have identified:
many apps require too much permissions (access to contact for instance) and it is not possible to refuse without cancelling the installation
android 2.3 does not allow to tune the frequency of Gmail email and calendar synchronisation
email application does not allow to store on the phone more than 1 month of email for off line access, attachment are not available offline
the lock screen code cannot be tuned to request the code only after X minutes
the widget with toggles cannot be customised
and the clues to improve :
The app "permission denied" allows to manage permissions unfortunatly it doesn t work on android 2.3. I wait for the next cyanogen rom
It is possible to use the native email application with exchange but there is some other lacks...

•The app "permission denied" allows to manage permissions it shall be installed with the chainfire's modified kernel. This app is succefully tested on several games / apps.

Unfortunatly it adds a bar instead of modifying the already existing one in the status bar but it is already a great app.

Hey, thanks for your advice but this apps are "only firewall" while Permission denied allows to modify all permissions. This is a really powerfull tool. Indeed with the kernel modded by chainfire this app is fully fonctionnal.
Anyway, I am also interested in firewalls and I rally appreciate lbe that could pop up each time an app try to access internet to set up the permissions (as for root permissions).

GSaver will not auto download attachements, but it will let you save any attachements, not only those allowed

For many reasons (not using push to save battery, task sync, full callendar sync...) I use my google.account in exchange protocol using native email app. Gsaver is useless for me.
What I m looking for is an app or mod that automaticly download attachments. This option featured on my old htc touch hd... Sic

Peloton Spin Bike

I have a peloton Spin Bike, and it can with a screen where your able to stream workouts on through the companies subscription. The screen is operated by Android Jellybean: 4.1.1.
OK, so here's my challenge for anyone that,s willing to accept!
Problem: when you turn on the peloton bike screen your locked into the peloton app, and the you can't get out of the app to do other things... For example, watch YouTube or something else.
Challenge: I'm sure this is an easy hack, but if anyone can figure out how to unlock this. You be compensated for your efforts!

I'd love to be compensated for the effort, but really you can just Google the command sequence as it's pretty popular to install Netflix and watch movies rather than consume the Peloton content.

I successfully extracted the Peloton APK from the bike and installed it on my Galaxy S6. The issue is that it won't go past the login screen. I figure one of two things is happening. Either the app is calling a procedure to validate that hardware on the bike is working before logging in, or two, the Peloton server is validating the login request is coming from a bike instead of another device via a token or validation of operating system version, etc.

pretty simple to do, go to about section of the bike, tap on the lower right corner area of the about screen, which should take you out of the app into a main android area....after that open the browser, download apk installer and then download whatever apps you want to add to the tablet

hey guys, just bought a used peloton and have two really specific questions:
- has anyone reset all the data through settings? If so, what happens?
- I'm not seeing the invisible button that everyone is describing here and in other forums. I also have developer options on so I can see all of the hit areas. Am I missing something?

But once you are in the about screen, how do you download new software? I dont see an option anywhere to download. I only see the disable ap button.

My Peloton console won't go beyond searching for network if I use Wifi, or download updates if I use ethernet. I don't think it's a hardware failure and had been looking for a ROM to load it. Anyone backup their console? It's a first generation tablet running lollipop.

Any chance someone figured out how to do this with the Peloton Tread? Its running Android 7... I can get to APKmirror.com and click download, just feel like they went to an extra effort to hide / disable downloads... or maybe a way to side load via USB, I can't get a USB device to recognize...

If you connect via USB you can place the APK on the device. My only issue is that it wont install as its an unknown source and i am unable to allow unknown sources to install.

if youre on a peloton running nougat (android 7.0), from the login screen you can go to:
wifi (icon, top right) --> system settings --> legal (licenses etc.) --> and click any button that says homepage.
it will bring you up in a browser from which point you can download a third party launcher such as Nova and use it to display a stock android UX (homescreen). once you have this you might choose to download an apk for google play, or even just grab apks (app files) via google searches. (for example: google: Netflix android 7.0 apk --> then follow links to download).

This does not work for me. Clicking download does nothing. Any ideas.

I just got the bike the other day and tried through both downloading the app directly onto the peloton tablet (as you recommended) and through ADB, followed the instructions of this :

I then learnt to add -p when installing through ADB and discovered this error:
Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_UNEXPECTED_EXCEPTION: Failed to parse /data/app/vmdl1690417893.tmp/base.apk: AndroidManifest.xml]
I have tired using ADB to install the app on my android phone and it worked fine - which means it's not the app - I believe!
Please help!!!

Did you manage to resolve this? Having the same issue on my console running Android 7. Also tried the adb commands to allow unknown sources as it's not available to be set in UI

You don't need active subscription to use apps that you have already installed. Sadly, The problem is most of the apps have new versions and old versions are deprecated within few months.
Definitely try Wired XDisplay as DC Rainmaker's post, to doscreen mirror from your laptop.

Android: are there limitations on available apps?

So that's an Intel processor inside, I wonder if there are limitations on available apps from the store, or if I will be able to continue using all my preferred apps from my previous Tab.
That would be a reason to buy it or not!

Very few limitations. I just scrolled through "my library" on the play store and found only the following without an "install" button (implying incompatibility):
- Starbucks (I think more because of screen issues than processor -- which doesn't really matter for Madrid in any case!)
- MyScript NEBO
- Fast Finder
- Quick Settings for Android
- Do It Later
- MS Office Mobile (a screen-size issue, because Word, Excel, & Powerpoint apps work OK)
- Voice Search
- Adobe Flash Player 11

I can use NEBO.
Getting it set up is reasonably easy.
On my phone I installed it BUT did not activate it because it asked me to write on the screen – I have no stylus for it to recognize.
I then extracted the apk file with one of the free apk extractors
I then copied the apk over to the Yoga book and ran it (make sure you have developer mode set up).
When you run it for the first time a box will pop up asking you to write on the screen with your stylus. With our Yoga Books we have to switch over to “stylus” mode to do that then scribble on the pad. That’s it …. Done and good to go.
I had to do this each time a new update happened. Still doing it actually.

I am unable to run "sandblast protect" on the Yoga Book I recently purchased. It's running the latest 7.1.1 software. It goes through the install process and then I get the dreaded "Protect has stopped" error when I attempt to launch it. Can someone try to install and run this app and let me know if works for them?
My IT department requires sandblast mobile to be running on any android devices that access our corporate email so this is an important app for me... Thanks.

Q: Which version do I install modified unmodified or High Bitrate?
You can install either one, but they cannot be installed simultaneously.
Tip: if you have any other apps installed that require the amazon app store to be side loaded, use the _amazon version.
The higher bit rate apk has been tested to work on shield TV 2015/2017, it most likely works on other devices as well but i have not confirmed . If you have a low end device and limited bandwidth please use the DTV Now_Amazon apk. Also see .txt file in Higher Bitrate folder if you have questions.

The modified version does not require the amazon app store to be installed. All that is removed from the modified version is the amazon app store verification.

Some users have reported that running the modified version results in video and audio issues. If you are having such issues with the modified version, try the unmodified version.
Q: Live TV has no sound, but on demand works.
Check the audio settings from the shield settings menu, users have reported that turning of surround sound or adjusting other sound options helped them resolve the issue
Q: Application can’t determine location or won’t play any channel (Gray Screen).
Enable both storage and location permissions and also under location select use Wi-Fi to estimate location
Sometimes it may take multiple toggles for the new permissions to register and a device restart maybe required.
Or you may need to spoof your location if using other Android TV devices such as Sony X900e , MiBox, etc. See last below for Spoofing instructions

Location Spoofing is also necessary if you wan to run version 2.0.14.03143 and up on your Sony Android TVs .
Or if your Android TV device, fails to find your location even after you enabled the necessary settings and restarted the device multiple times. Once location is spoofed you do not need to re enable location and storage permissions.

2. Install Fake GPS ( link https://apkpure.com/fake-gps/com.blogspot.newapphorizons.fakegps )
3. In developer settings, choose the Fake GPS for mock locations
4. You will need the coordinates, so head over to google maps on your phone / pc and get the latitude and longitude of where you'd like to set your location.
5. Open the Fake GPS app and search - plug in your coordinates.

No, I just made sure permissions were set first and location (via WiFi) was turned on.

Unfortunately the app doesn't work with the shield tv. I get a Adobe access enabler missing error message.
Not sure how to resolve that , first time I have seen that error. I uploaded the file under the broken apps folder if you want to test it yourself. Go to main post for link

Here is the local channel search on their site. I would pick a popular city thats Eastern time , Central or Pacific. And go from there.
If you look through the other directv thread they have some apps that apparently work at spoofing the location. The posts were within the last month or two. I'll have to look at the thread over the weekend to see what apps worked

Go-to the file tab and click the + icon choose pick from file find your dtv now apk
It will open the settings for cloning then scroll down to privacy option click it go down to location spoof click it
Pick your location it will save it then click the tick to clone it
Once it's cloned go-to cloned apks tab hit the 3 dot menu on your cloned app and choose save file
Then move the apk to your usb stick via PC and install it on your shield and open it up delete any other dtv now apps off your shield
There should be no device lock now

I have the premium app cloner and am trying to clone the mobile 2.0 apk but when I select spoof location the screen just flashes opens for a split sec then goes back to the same screen without giving me a chance to select a location. Any ideas what would cause this?

Windows ARM64 Optimized for 950/XL (Testing)

This is a guide for using my optimized version on Windows 10 Home ARM64 for our Lumia 950/XL's, reason behind me making this is inspiration from gilius over on woaproject.net with his WoALite, but I found some things that slow down my Windows Experiences when using it on my Lumia 950 XL, so I used Windows built-in DISM tool to modify and change things in a retail iso (17760.1.180911-1415.RS5_RELEASE_CLIENTCORE_OEMRET_A64FRE_EN-US) which can be obtained following WoA Projects method (Links will be at bottom), I will get around to Screens from the device at a later stage, for now I have listed everything changed so far and will update as I progress, if this gains traction I will move to the DevDB section.
I am currently testing it as you read this but I will say this is classed as unstable, I am having few issues sudden reboots, shutdown not shutting down.. but as the WOA Project is unstable and the Drivers they provide are still in-development. I will not be responsible for anything gone wrong, make sure to make a full image backup of your device (With Win32DiskImager) in Mass Storage Mode if you are unsure. If you are new to installing Windows ARM on Lumia, follow WoA Project's guides as they have links and guides to help you step by step. Status on what works and what doesn't hardware wise is stated on Woa Website
INSTRUCTIONS(Download links at the bottom):​
You will need the 'install.wim' from an unedited 17760 (1809) ISO because WoA Deployer doesn't agree with my version, if unsure follow WoA's guide to obtain the required files.
[*]Make sure you have the 'stock' install.wim from ISO and the Version1.wim downloaded and in the SAME folder.
[*]Open WoA Deployer and Connect your device. Browse for the Wim files from Step 1, select and open the 'Stock' install.wim
[*]When WoA detects the 'Stock' .wim and says "Windows 10 home 17760', go to the Explorer folder with the WIM files and rename install.wim (E.g installbak.wim)
[*]Rename Version1.wim to install.wim
[*]Go back to WoA and Start deployment, hopefully all should go well
Note: You may encounter, after finishing deploy and drivers have been injected, an error saying invalid .WIM file.. this is expected because of my edited install.wim, I am looking into fixing that, but the deployment will still be successful.
ISSUES:
1. If you encounter a boot loop/Never reach the Windows boot screen (Circling dots) then replace the 'bootaa64.efi' found in the phone's drive named SYSTEM: .\EFI\Boot\ with the bootaa64.efi in the link at the bottom. you will need an Elevated Command Prompt session to do this bit or you could use Explorer++ as Admin to replace the file
2. Expect some UWP apps to be broken in some ways, it cannot be helped with how windows integrates with all its services and packages, i.e any MS Store apps that require Cloud syncing with OneDrive
3. Windows Error Reporting seems to still be working because it has collected 1.5 GB over a couple days of use, I am working on fixing that
PLEASE if you are willing to test this, tell me any issues you find with edits I made or anything you want me to remove! and share your experience with it! I will keep on improving and most likely change to a more recent build (19h1) in the future

I tested this on my 950 XL and it runs good there are a few issues with Windows Update still running but it's a lil bit more responsive.. when is next update??

I did also discover that the update service is still starting up, I think it's tied into how MS Store launches on first install to update the metro UI apps but I am working on it more!
No idea when next release is yet, I'm testing my offline version 2 and broke the store from installing apps.

I was planing this for a long time, since first news were coming about Windows ARM on Lumias, and for the first install I tried with your version V2 on Lumia 950 (not XL).
Hands down for you work here. In general it works, quite smoothly also.
But I did have an issue during Windows account creation (after deployment was already done).
I received error "oobelocalhello". I had an option to try to create account again (but that didn't fix it) or to continue. The next step was Services, which didn't finish after more than half an hour, it was just running without end. Even a few reboots didn't solve the issue, although I noticed, user accounts were actually created, because I couldn't use the same usernames again.
To overcome this I opened cmd (Shift + F10), manually created account with below commands and restarted.
net user administrator /active:yes
net user /add owner mypassword
net localgroup administrators owner /add
cd %windir%\system32\oobe
msoobe.exe

Wifi works, usb charging and mouse (over continuum) works. Your scripts didn't cause BSOD, so that's good .
Should phone calls also work? In https://woa-project.github.io/LumiaWOA/status/ is stated phone calls are supported up to build 18363, and your build is 18965, so I assume it's not a problem at my end.
Would be nice to have a remote desktop server installed to work and test the phone somewhat easier (I'm just trying with tightvnc, but is rather slow).

Glad to hear your experience and that someone has tried it!
I think the issue there is I removed some services to do with the initial setup, and the services I did notice a few mistakes I did (I think) and should be fixed in version 3(fingers crossed)
Yeah I didn't keep keep cellular in mind I feel I should have, I don't know about Version 3 and cellular because I'm gunna test the most 'stable' build beforehand
And with the scripts I tested on all of my laptops etc because I was worried I would mess stuff up if not, I have uploaded all the scripts used in V2 to my github aswell so it's easier to see the contents and what they do
I will be coming back an tweaking this at some point and will properly update the OP, gotten a bit sidetracked with Linux on 950 and other devices but I do want to add remote desktop back because I agree it would be handy!

Sadly this has been abandoned for a long time, so I don't know if you will see benefits over using a more recent W10 image
