I didn't mean hw, I meant is there an app on the play store so we can smart select parts of the screen with our finger as opposed to a s-pen.

Same here.
I think it requires froyo.
need to tap location button twice.
Tapping the location button twice activates the compass mode that makes the map rotate with the direction you're facing.
The actual map rotation gesture requires 2.2 so we're SOL for the moment haha.

We're talking about being able to rotate the map via multitouch, not compass.

For some reason it lists Galaxy S but not any of the US carrier models, maybe that's why? Maybe they just did a hard check for those models because they might not have a good way to check for touchscreen features properly.

Phone in the video on their blog looks like a US Galaxy S device. Probably a Vibrant (I'm secretly hoping it's a Fascinate)...
http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2010/12/next-generation-of-mobile-maps.html
the notes on the gesture section state
Note:
Rotating gestures require Android OS 2.2 or later.
This list of devices may be incomplete and may change in the future as new Android phones are available for purchase.
How the hell did you get the 3d working?

It looks like the Nexus S to me based on the color scheme, although I don't know what the order of the buttons is which is probably the best identifier (sadly).

Tab Pro 8.4 tips and tricks

I personally own a Tab Pro 8.4 LTE version. As all we know, Samsung has made the menu button of the Tab Pro Series into muti-windows switcher and also the shortcut of task manager. In some apps, there may be a menu button for you to press. But if there is no menu button in some third party apps, you can long press the menu button to open up the menu. I hope it helps!
In case anyone didn't know, instead of getting multi windows by dragging and dropping. You can tap the app for floating pop-up windows. Also, you can take a screen shot of your tab by swiping from the right of the screen using the entire bottom side of your hand.

Uhhh... I think you meant "long press the recent apps button to open up the menu"
So I FINALLY figured out edge zoom. When viewing a web page do a double tap. On the second tap, leave your finger down, then slide your finger up or down to zoom in or out.
Making this discovery, though, doesn't mean I'm any less ticked off that I can't disable it because it's constantly being triggered accidentally.

There is built-in Watch On app. Or you can download 3rd party software from play store (I use Peel).

Do you have the Tab Pro 8.4? And if so, is Peel working properly?
On mine, it only displays in portrait mode (which is contradictory to where the IR Blaster is located) and only uses about a quarter of the screen (seems to be behaving like the device is a phone, instead of a tablet). Also, the text in the menus is off, again like its not correctly designed for the screen resolution. Peel worked really well on my old Note 8 (broke the screen); so I'm surprised to see these issues.
Since Peel is mostly unusable for these reasons, I've been using WatchOn. WatchOn is not bad, but not great either. It doesn't seem to have as much personalization as Peel, and often displays shows I don't have interest in.
Minimised apps!
Tap (don't drag) one of the apps in the sidebar, it will open up in a new window on top of whatever you have running. Now tap the minimise symbol '_' on the top right of the window. The app gets reduced to a small disc that can be moved around to wherever you want!
It's not earth-shattering but it's a nice touch!

Is this a tip or a trick?
Seriously, this is not the right thread for this question, or even the right forum section. This belongs in the Q&A section.
What apps are stopping? Did you migrate data between ROMs? Did you do a full wipe (data, cache, Dalvik) between ROMs?
I did not know where to fit my question. I apologize. The browser always shows me error. Always use advanced wipe function
No method found on the internet helped me

You really didn't answer most of my questions. Its hard to help you, if you don't provide the information requested. Even saying you used Advanced Wipe doesn't really say anything specific. What partitions did you select to be wiped?
Did you migrate any data, like using Titanium? Specifically any system data?

Seriously, just another way to skin a cat. Maybe Samsung wanted something to fall back on, due to all of Apple's patent lawsuits.
for redpoint73,
*Did you migrate data between ROMs?
I do not know what. Error "unfortunalety ... Has stoped" I had since I was a stock rom t320xx ... ana1. Disturbed by this, we decided to use a custom rom cm11
Did you do a full wipe (data, cache, Dalvik) between ROMs?yes, Except I used to wipe sd-card
I used odin for root and install custom flashify to recovery. That was all.

Smart screen

So if anybody else like me is coming from the G2 and 3 you might be missing smart screen.. That little feature that detects your face while looking at the screen to keep the screen awake instead of fading out. I personally felt it a real convenience. I would like to get it back, I pulled the app from my G3 titled wise screen. I installed it like a normal app with success. I used activity launcher to try and launch it, but it fc's. So I'm guessing we'll need root to get it functional. When we do get root is there anyone else interested in joining me on this quest? I would really like to get this one up and running. I can't for the life of me understand why they left it off. I feel like I'm back on ics or jb with out it..

I have to agree with you. I am so surprised they took it out. I spent 30 min on the phone trying to find it. I tried the app the other post recommended, not as good, it will never turn the phone off in the car when the phone is mounted and the car is moving.
I, too, was looking for the smartscreen settings. Was surprised that LG decided to remove it. Will try the above mentioned kinscreen later
Anyone know if Samsung removed it from the S6? They started the feature and it was one of the more useful features they added to Touchwiz. I was glad when LG copied it. Most of the other stuff was junk, but that was actually useful.
That sucks. I wonder if they removed smart screen to keep the screen from running down the battery.

What's really weird is that the Smart Screen app is installed on the phone. Go to app manager, and check out the "All" list and there's Smart Screen. There's just no way to activate it.

Here it is on the Verizon variant. Wow... this is the first time the Verizon version actually has something the others don't!
It's on the phone but doesn't seem to work. I don't see any place to enable it and creating an activity to open the app causes it to crash.
Never really worked for me on G2/3.
I miss this and have found an app on the play store that mimics it. It worked well for me on the G3.
Verizon has this. I disabled it though. It worked great on my G2 for the time I tested it. For me, I am typically using my phone while in the middle of doing something else. So it is a waste.

Not on mine H810. I am wondering if maybe they built something into the package? As since I have had mine, and if I'm using it or just looking at it the screen doesn't shut off.

On Verizon, you can see the service - it is not an app - BUT there are no Settings I can find or know of that actually allow you to activate it or interact with it in anyway. So it is "there" but seems to do nothing and cannot be setup.
EDIT: I used the hidden Verizon menu and found this "smart screen" but when you click on it, it forecloses and crashes. So, it is as if that first part of the services is there BUT the actual functionality is not as using the hidden Verizon menu I cannot activate it and access settings or turn it on to work - and I would think from that hidden menu, we should.

Question about Smart View

Hi,
I just got a T-mobile S7 edge and love the phone. I was playing with the DLNA option called Smart View. Picked it from the the Gallery and it opened a new window for me to select where to stream the picture. Came up with 4 of my devices in the house. I picked one. Unfortunately, not the right one. However, I cant seem to find a way to change that setting. Everytime I go to a picture and click on Smart View, it auto selects the earlier selection of device. Any ideas where I can change this setting for Smart view?
Thanks

When you open smart view again, it isn't showing the rest of your available devices? It should scan again and you should see the other devices connected.

It does for 1/2 a millisecond and then autoselects the one I picked earlier. I even tried going through apps to see if I can remove data on something so this default will vanish but so far, can't seem to find the right app for this.

You might want to remove your default device from the network for a moment and see if it allows you to choose another then reconnect the first device.

S-Pen button remap?

Everyone wants to remap bixby to something else, or remove it completely, I'd love to get some action out of the s-pen ...
I've tried a few of the bluetooth remote apps and few of the rempaer apps but the only one that even noticed the s-pen was this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.tmhouse.mediabuttonenhancer2.mediasession and all it does is display the action when inside the app.
Anyone has any ideas on next steps towards unleashing that beast ?
What are you trying to do that the native settings won't let you? S-pen remote settings lets you map the button to any app on the phone...

Well, it only lets us to map double click from "anywhere" to run any app, but that's it.
After that, only a series of pre-configured app and pre-configured action.
For example, camera action only lets to take a picture, switch camera, or record video, but not "apply filter" or anything.
Or, for another example, I want s-pen to enable next and previous page on any of my ebook reader, or how double clickng the s-pen triggers "Do Not Disturb" Mode. That is not possible yet.
I will be very happy if this S=pen thingy can be integrated with Tasker or Samsung''s own routine app
Didn't Samsung release a SDK for this feature? Might want to look into it and learn or hire a developer.

Am a developer. The SDK is to implement it in your own apps. Say for Facebook and linkdin to go over the SDK and implement it in their apps and allow for single and double clicks.
That's my last option to build my own but so far evidence indicate it might already be possible via 3rd party apps ...
At unpacked Samsung said that they will release the source to make spen developing so get relaxed and wait drinking coconut drinks...
