S5 text answer and reply over car BT - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I would be grateful if anyone could shed some light on this.
I used to have a WP8 when they first came out and loved the fact that as soon as i connected it to the cars BT, text messages when received were read out over the cars speakers and gave me to option to speak and send a reply direct without any physical interaction with the phone. I missed Android so sold it and returned but ever since I have been unable to replicate the same with any of the Android phones I have had.
My son has a WP 535 and as soon as he paired it to my cars BT it done the same as before, no other apps were installed, it just started working.
i have been trying to try and get my S5 to do the same but have failed.
Is it Android or the BT on the phone.
The S5 has BT version 4.0 and
Bluetooth Profiles
DI, MAP, PBAP, HOGP, PAN, A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HSP, OPP, SAP, HID
The WP 535 has BT version 4.0 and
Bluetooth profiles: Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) 1.2, Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) 1.4, Generic Attribute Profile (GATT), Hands-free profile (HFP) 1.6, Object Push profile (OPP) 1.1, Personal Area Network Profile (PAN) 1.0, Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) 1.1
Thank you for any help and time with this problem I'm having.

Bluetooth A2DP Profile / Advanced Audio Distribution Profile

Hi all!
Somebody knows if there is any chance that we will get to see an A2DP Profile on the XDA2 anytime soon? This would be soo cool and the possibilities are endless!! Its so frustring having a device that "could do it all" but then its still not possible.....:?
There are a lot of interesting devices coming to the marktet now (BT Stereo Headsets, BT-Audio Transceivers and Receivers to connect to HIFI Equipment)
check it out:

and a cheap one (sold here in Switzerland)

I just wonder why there is nobody or even a company like Widcomm developing these missing profiles (like PAN Profile, BT-Network access etc..) for the XDA. I would definitly be willing to pay if you could buy them on Handango or so....
Cheers
Has anyone know A2DP on either PDA or Smartphone?
It's compatible with MDA Compact (XDAIImini) ?
RE
I tried the A2DP profile on my WM2003SE O2 XDA II with Widcomm bluetooth stack and the sound through my iPHONO bluetooth headphone was crappy. Many times there were interruptions like split second cut off and then the music would resume.
I used GSPlayer and faced some problems like the volume slider does not function, does not automatically jump to next track upon completion of the current sound track etc
BTW, you'll need to enable the Headset and the High Quality Audio profiles for the iPHONO headphone in order for it to work.
Also, Widcomm bt stack does not support headset profile

Can Bluetooth v 1.1 be upgraded to v 1.2 on XDA II

Can anyone tell me if the XDA II can be upgraded regarding the version of Bluetooth ie. spec states ver 1.1 can this be upgraded to ver 1.2 which allows for the use of stereo bluetooth headsets etc.
Thanks
Mike Simmonds
i think bluetooth revision and profiles supported are 2 different things
you may want to look into bluetooth stacks insted of revisions because i think thats hardware related
I guess from this then, my original question should now be,"Can I use/upgrade my XDA II with bluetooth stereo headset (rated bluetooth v1.2)"
Thanks for the reply

AFAIK, Bluetooth v1.2 is backward compatible with v1.1. Besides the same basic technical stuff, the 1.2 adds Advance Frequency Hopping so it can connect better in a crowded wireless radio area and faster connection between Bluetooth devices... And the v1.2 compatible Bluetooth devices can still connect until 100 metres.
So basically yes, you can use a device/headset rated Bluetooth v1.2 with your XDA.
I once tested a v1.2 Bluetooth headset from Billionton to connect with an XDA II Mini, I can still communicate with the Mini and me are roughly 80 metres apart, although the sound quality was horrendous, it's mostly because of the headset itself, not the connection fault.
Just to be sure, try pairing it first if you want to buy a v1.2 Bluetooth headset with your XDA.
Can I assume also, that I would be able to stream stereo audio via the XDA II to the stereo bluetooth headset, & would a headset mic also function?
Thanks for your reply

As far as I understand, both Himalaya and Blue Angel are equipped with Bluetooth version 1.1.
I've done some research on this, since I wanted to connect stereo headsets to my MDA III just like you apparently. The 1.2 standard is downwards compatible and apparently it will work to connect a 1.2 "stereo" headset to your device. BUT you will not be able to enjoy stereo.
Headset and device can connect, but since your device uses 1.1, it won't be able to broadcast stereo.
(I haven't tried all this, but it's what I found out during extensive research).
Apparently, Bluetooth 1.2 requires a new chip. So unfortunately it isn't that easy to upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2.
the ms bluetooth stack and also the vidcomm i believe dont support A2DP
which is required to get stereo audio to a headset
you can use this though

Reducing pocketpc bluetooth profile

Is there a way to reduce the bluetooth profiles on a PocketPC ?
My problem is a little bit complex but i'll try to explain.
I have the following bluetooth setup for communicating on a (motor)bike
- IMC Camos BTS 300 Bluetooth headset/intercom
- PMR Alan midland 445 with bluetooth
- PocketPC with Windows mobile 6
the headset has 2 bluetooth channels
1st ch, for connection with a navigation device, mp3 player or PMR
2nd ch, for direct communication with other camos headset, passenger or 2nd rider
on the 1st bluetooth channel, you can connect 2 bluetooth devices
but when you connect 2 devices with a headset/handsfree profile, like a PMR (for bike2bike communication) and a PocketPC (for navigation) the camos keeps switching between the 2 devices, it can't decide which one to use for the voice output.. The manufacturer says it works with a PMR and TomTom for example. So if i could reduce the pocketpc bluetooth profiles to something like a2dp only, everything should work nicely. Can this be done?

[Q] HD2 Bluetooth to non-A2DP device HSP or HFP

I have a motorcycle intercom system that worked flawlessly when my HD2 was running WinMo 6.5. I could make/receive phone calls and also hear GPS alerts via bluetooth. The intercom system is not A2DP, but WinMo handled things fine. I don't remember if I tried streaming any other audio, but I'm pretty sure that worked as well even though it wasn't in stereo.
I'm now running HyperDroidGBX-v12 (Gingerbread) and I have it paired with the intercom system, but I'm only able to use the audio features for telephone. I tried iGo8, Google Nav, CoPilot etc. , but none of the GPS audio will come through via bluetooth.
I understand that most bluetooth audio works on the A2DP protocol. My HD2 will send ALL audio through bluetooth when I'm using it in the car. I understand that my intercom system doesn't use A2DP audio, however, Windows Mobile didn't have any problems sending the GPS audio to the Scala unit, so why can't Android do that?
In the case of bluetooth implementation, phone to headset communication for calls is usually handled by the HSP (headset profile) or HFP (hands free profile) or a combination of the two. Is there some way to get Android to work correctly with HSP or HFP for non-phone related audio?
Thanks

[Q] Galaxy S4 Bluetooth Drivers

I successfully paired my AT&T Galaxy S4 to my 64-bit Win7 laptop using the "Add a Device" button under Start -> Devices and Printers.
Now, in Device Manager, I have three devices with a yellow bang that appear as "Bluetooth Peripheral Device" under "Other devices."
I have seen in other threads that I should manually update the driver for these devices to the Microsoft Standard Serial over Bluetooth link driver that is part of the Windows Mobile Device Center application.
I'm just a little skeptical... does the S4 really have three serial-over-bluetooth links? And if so, now I'm curious... what do these links represent?
I am also having the same issue. I just updated the BT stack on the Dell with the same result. Under the Device Functions: two of the list are Bluetooth Peripheral Device / Other devices
The rest in the list are:
Bluetooth A2DP Source
Bluetooth AV Remote Control Target
Bluetooth Handsfree Audio Gateway
Bluetooth Message Access Profile Server
Bluetooth OPP
Shoot me
I spent over an hour with Samsung support. I finally got them to provide the following:
Bluetooth® Profiles: A2DP, AVRCP, GAVDP, GOEP, HFP, HID, HSP, MAP, OBEX, OPP, PAN, PBAP, SPP; NFC; Wi-Fi®; Wi-Fi® Hotspot; MHL support.
"Some of the profiles are related to car stereos and headsets by which windows may not be detecting all the profiles." - This is what is erroring out in Windows.
She could not give me the specific ones but it is two of the underlining profiles listed. I have spent way too much time to get nowhere.
Has anyone made any progress with this? I attempted the "Standard Serial over Bluetooth link" driver, with no luck.
Broadcom
Hi,
I had troubles installing my S4 on windows 7 using windows drivers.
I uninstalled all Bluetooth software then cleared device driver build-up with USB Deview.
I then installed Broadcom Device Drivers, and re-paired my phone with only one S4 BT device not installed.
These are all the S4 BT devices I got installed okay:
Bluetooth Hands-free Audio
Bluetooth L2CAP Interface
Bluetooth Remote Control
GATT Protocol
GAP Protocol
Bluetooth Headset AG
Bluetooth Hands-free AG
Bluetooth AV Remote-Control Target
Bluetooth AV Source
Bluetooth Network Access
Bluetooth Personal Area Network User (PANU)
Bluetooth OPP
Bluetooth Message Access
I hope this helps
S4 BT FTP Working
Hi again,
I've found that I can get the last uninstalled BT service mentioned above installed by using Bluetooth File Transfer -- namely the FTP service.
With BT turned off, using the BFT Widget: I activated "Bluetooth File Receiving Service (OPP) Port 12" and then the "Bluetooth File Sharing Service (FTP) Port 30", and then I turned BT on and re-paired with Windows. All BT services found on my S4 were installed.
My S4 appeared in Windows Explorer as a system folder under My Computer--with full upload/download capabilities--just as if I had connected via USB cable, though only the internal memory was available, not the SD card.
I hope this helps more so
