Possible modem issue - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! Thank you for anyone can assist me.
I have a Moto X Pure Edition XT1575 32gb ordered through Best Buy because I work there.
I have run into an issue after flashing this modem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63574299&postcount=2
I was on the stock loaded SW, accepted the MM OTA, then unlocked bootloader, flashed recovery, and flashed Slim, and everything was fine.
I now tried the TruPureXMM ROM and flashed the modem that it said I had to. After the boot, it found WiFi, but had no messaging app, so no way to send texts, and would not receive texts when texted.
Since flashing that modem, I have flashed back to stock but can't pickup any WiFi networks.
I have tried restoring my backup as well, no WiFi.
So basically, if I run TruPure, I have WiFi but no text, and if I flash back to stock or my backup, I have text but no WiFi.
I truly believe this is a modem issue, and I need to find the stock modem.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

You should download .zip file that contains all stock files, unzip it, and find "NON-HLOS.bin", thats modem file that you need.
Now boot into fastboot mode (power+volume down), and from PC use "fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin"
Restart device, you should be okey now.
If you are looking for 5.1.1 modem, than you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development/pure-firmware-tuff-wip-t3224833 under 5.1.1 - firmware!
For 6.0 I cant find right firmware file, but you can use http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...rom-stock-rooted-debloated-x1575-6-0-t3262242 this thread.
Also you always can go to stock by first thread, and later install MM OTA.
What about messaging app, I suppose, you can download it from playstore - Google messanger, it should work.

I have flashed the above mentioned ROM and everything is fixed! Thanks for the link buddy. I figured mix matching modems would be a no-no, just couldn't find a modem only thread. I will wait for M Kernel source to be released to run AOSP ROMs, until then, this is fine.
Thanks again buddy!

Yea, I am waiting for kernel source too! Have fun and good luck!

Hello!
First off, thanks for the previous help, it worked!
Now I have a different issue. I can run the ROM you posted earlier and have BT, but when I flash AICP, I have no blueooth.
I think I need to download the stock M ROM, extract the bluetooth and fastboot it.
Correct?
Thanks!

NE 9 modem on Developer

Quick question - - can I just flash the NE9 modem in TWRP just after flashing extreme syndicate room and before reboot? Or do I have to use ODIN?
If I have to use ODIN what are the steps?
Thanks.
{I voiced my opinion with my wallet and bought a developer phone, come on AOSP love.... Soon i hope}

The NE9 modem files that I have seen (present and past modem files) cannot be flashed via a custom recovery, they must be installed using ODIN.
Put you phone in download mode (volume down + power)(make sure you have Samsung drivers installed on PC), start ODIN on PC, connect phone to PC, wait for ODIN to recognize phone, select the modem tar file that is located on your PC, use PDA and press start. Wait until you get a GREEN PASS before disconnecting your phone. Reboot.
Thanks for the reply.... But, do I flash the rom first and reboot, then reboot into download mode and go into ODIN and flash NE9 modem? The rom 'extreme syndicate' is NE9.

ROM installation instructions:
Dev Edition Install Instructions:
1: Download ROM.zip to Internal Storage or External SD Card
2: Reboot to Recovery
3: Flash ROM.zip
4: Flash NE9 Modem
5: DO NOT FLASH NE9 FIRMWARE PACKAGE!!! THIS WILL RUIN YOUR NICE DEV EDITION PHONE FOR GOOD

Yes, flash the ROM first. Power off and put your phone in download mode and the ODEN the NE9 modem .tar.

No problem. If you're looking for a lean, fast, smooth ROM then you'll love that ROM. I've been running it since it was first release (under a different name) and haven't found a good reason to run anything else.
Yeah the rom is terrific. I was running the earlier version also. BTW do u know what KLTE is? I was looking at the unified s5 section and the AOSP roms and wondering if the VZ Developer version is KLTE? Thanks again

I'm not positive what KLTE means in terms of our Dev S5s. I see the term used a lot in threads talking about unified ROMs, but I don't know exactly what phones it applies to.

Return to stock unrooted 4.4.4 KXE21.187-42 for XT1095

This is a nand that I created with twrp. It is completely stock and unrooted. By restoring this, flashing the stock At&t modem and flashing stock KXE21.187-42 recovery, you will be left with a complete stock unrooted kitkat Moto X XT1095 capable of taking the ota.

1. Place nand in the backups of your twrp recovery
2. Restore with twrp
3. Factory data/reset
4. Flash At&t modem (fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.img)
5. Reboot to fastboot mode
6. Flash stock recovery (fastboot flash recovery recovery_victara_KXE21.187-42.img).
7. Reboot
If you want the OTA.... adb sideload (you can find the OTA file on another thread).
IF you follow the directions as I have laid out, you will have a completely stock, unrooted-fresh install of kitkat. You now should be able to safely take the ota using adb sideload.
This has been tried by myself multiple times successfully. This is only for the XT1095 variant. If you are crazy enough to try it on another variant, please post your results.
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device. I will try and answer any questions as long as I have the time. Hit "thanks" if this helps.
Is it required to flash the att modem if i use tmobile?

Yes, it's basically a prerequsite for the ota to flash. If you have no plan on flashing the ota, then you can use the radio of your choice.

Not to sure what you are saying.
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.img
That's pretty clear to me. Im guessing if you can flash a recovery, you can flash the modem, performed by fastboot.

My pure edition, XT1095 came out of the box with T Mobile baseband / modem. Not sure why the ota would need AT&T (also had no issues sideloading the lollipop update)
I am pretty sure it is only required if you used the multitool which has a different modem included. This modem is not compatible with the 5.0 OTA.

Which modem? The modem I have posted here? If thats what you are talking about you havent any idea what you are talking about.
I have done exactly what ive posted here multiple times. Use any other modem other than this one and the ota will fail.
As far as why people are calling it the att modem confuses me as well.
The multi tool flashes a 55R while this modem flashes 57R.

I started this thread to return your XT1095 to stock unrooted, hence the title.
Since there are no factory images at the moment, I posted what worked for me.
Dont comment if you dont agree, but i assure you this method works just fine.

The modem included in the Multitool as I inferred. If you flashed back to stock or used the image from the multitool you get the invalid modem b00 error. After which you have to use the AT&T modem in order for the OTA to complete successfully.
the radio point is mute since graffixnyc posted the stock pure edition modem on his site. The modem image he posted is a direct backup from his brand new Pure Edition

Correct, the modem I have linked was directly from graffix.
holy cow downloads from Mega are crawling for me. I heard a rumor from a friend of a friend that a certain OTA from an un-said company for an un-said device is going out 'very soon' and I want to be 100% stock before it goes out. Just in case it's for the moto X.
can I ask how you got back to 100% stock? In your previous thread (TWRP Backup of Lollipop) you mentioned that you couldn't do a backup of stock. I guess I just want to know that your stock backup of 4.4.4 isn't an un-rooted 4.4.4. I'm looking for never-been-rooted 4.4.4.
got this to work last night.
working great! sideloaded the ota!
flashed the modem after sideloading the ota.
Official factory image is now available from Motorola! https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/recovery-images
edit: deleted, nevermind

My 4.4.4 was rooted, and I just experimented with all the info that everyone was posting the day the 5.0 went live. I was able to unroot and flash a file that 0.0 had posted in the thread that graffix had started. Anyway long story short between that and experimenting with the recovery and modems I was able to get my 4.4.4 to take the OTA with no problems. Since the OTA checks file structure and recovery, modem, etc....I am assuming it is unrooted stock. The way I look at it, If the OTA will flash with my experiment, so should the actual release. That is just my logic anyway.
Thank you for putting this guide together. Everything worked flawlessly. Thank you.

Return to stock methods?

How many ways do we have to return to stock. I need to return to 100% stock. The return to stock tool works ok, but I have to flash the modem after. After all the flashing and screwing with my phone, my data and MMS are so messed up, I need to start over. I tried returning to stock last night, and went to MM, but still don't have MMS (but data is working again). Is there a stock image yet that we can flash?
Use your backup? That's really all there is other then rts tool.
I haven't had great luck restoring those either. I think I found a work around. If I use the return to stock tool, then flash the 5.1.1 bootloader and Modem, it seems to be back to stock with working wifi.
For what it's worth, if anyone else gets their data and mms really jacked up, here's how I fixed mine. Use the restore to stock tool. Then after that, you have to flash the 5.1.1 modem to get wifi working again, and I also flashed the 5.1.1 bootloader, because the tool was failing at the bootloader. Flash both in fastboot.

Where did you find the 5.1.1 bootloader? I was failing at the install at booloader as well after returning to stock. Maybe this is where my problem is.
I can't remember exactly. It was in buried in the middle of the 6.0 rooted/odexed thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...rom-stock-rooted-debloated-x1575-6-0-t3262242). But it's probably easier to just pull extract the image file from the EU l return to stock tool. Just copy it from their to your Android sdk folder to flash it as you would anything else.

Flashing roms and getting bootloop

Hello guys I need a little help here in every time I flash marshmallow rom or nougat rom I got bootloop so after googling for an answer I found that the solution is by changing or updating the baseband version so I need you guys to give me a link for a modern baseband version and tech me how to flash the baseband version.
I know I am asking too much but I really love flashing those roms so please help me.
My baseband version is SM-G7102XXUBOE1
I am now using CM12.1
And I tried to flash stock firmware then flashing those roms but still Getting a bootloop.
Note: all lollipop roms work good (except blisspop Rom when I flash it I got bootloop so I extracted the cm12.1 boot.img then I flashed it so blisspop rom booted but Wifi, hotspot and ril didn't work.
Revert to stock ROM using Odin (use NAND erase all option). Then back to install CM13.

5.Factory format the phone, then take out battery for 8 sec(not so necessary ).Then switch off grand 2.Then hold vokume down+power button and click volume up when asked for confirmation
6.Attach the phone to PC and click on flash
7.After finishing, turn on mobile, complete first setup in stock ROM then install TWRP recovery on the device and install any ROMs. Your problem won't occur again
I have the same problem but i can still run my phone on boot but after some few seconds, it will reboot and then goes back to lock screen and then does it again. I flashed Ressurection Remix for Grand 2 btw

Perhaps. I followed the tutorial which works if you are already on the modem you want to backup. I will upload later but if you already are on PL1 modem then follow instructions I found (no warranties, all risks of damage etc)
Run in TWRP's terminal or ADB while in TWRP or Terminal command in Android with USB debugging on (root required and terminal app)
ls -al /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name
Look for modem or mdm. Once you find it, make note of the block.
To back them up in Terminal modem: dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0pXX of=/sdcard/modem.bin
where XX means proper block partition.
you can also backup APN-HLOS, fsg, modemst1, and modemst2 providing other names instead of modem.bin
Got information from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64169401&postcount=3
For creating tar file use TAR_MD5_PACKAGER

Unfortunately Im not on PL1, I'm on OK2. I'm having Bluetooth and Wifi disconnections/failures. Sometimes after a while they will completely die out and refuse to turn back on or allow connections, requiring a reboot where they will work again for a while. I'm hoping that an update to the baseband will either subdue or fix these issues. I've tried multiple roms and tried reverting to older basebands (which killed BT/Wifi all together). Stock works ok, but since the device is no longer in service I'm unable to tether my wifi/Bluetooth without root. If I'm rooting anyway, I might as well be running a custom ROM.
It's a longshot, but if it COULD help I'd like to update anyway

OK, I just downloaded full official PL1 stock, these were right in the tar file as my backups contain slightly more info. It is getting uploaded right now.
https://mega.nz/#!8chxiDJa!OS_i03da_uJ4p2BKzo7DGPEGubcEIzEOgk6zVjbCDfE
NON-HLOS should have more chances to help as modem is for GSM although it might end up with same incompatibility with ROM (turned off Wi-Fi). As for your problem, maybe another Kernel would work better.
How to install: you can try Heimdall or Odin. This topic provides enough info about how to do this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/general/ref-galaxy-s4-i9505-modems-bootloaders-t3315987

Awesome! Thanks alot. Hopefully the wifi won't go out. That would certainly be the opposite of what I'm trying to achieve as the S4 on Wifi is primarily my tether device for my PC. If the case is that it'll kill my Wifi, I am more than familiar with using Odin to flash back to OK2 (this is not my first rodeo with Samsung devices).
Thank you very much mate

Fail
Both Failed in Odin for me. It seems the only option is to reflash the whole stock image and reinstall the custom recovery
Now , all we need is someone to upload the whole PL1 stock rom to androidfilehost or mega so that we wouldnt have to wait 6 hours on a throttled download from these greedy Samsung Firmware losers.....
Ill post a link to the stock PL1 rom as soon as it finishes......
Reinstall of custom recovery shouldn't be of any problem as you already flash firmware in Odin so just extra reboot to DM and quick flash. Just uncheck Reboot, then when finished press power button and remove battery (for modem to get switched) and then boot in D mode.

L720T. I've had the phone up and running for a while now on Oreo. It's been better, but my Wifi speeds have cut down from 25Mbs to like 10 even right next to my router with every other device disconnected. BT still cuts out often. I like how much cleaner Stock runs so I've been waiting for the post above to link PL1.
Tried to install the PL1 Modem from this thread, but Odin displays 'Fail' message. Receive response from BootLoader.
My bootloader is a PL1 (5.0.1). I went from PL1 (Stock, Unrooted, SIM locked) to NG5 (Rooted, SIM Unlocked) and now on 6.0.1 JDCTeam's ROM. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...dcteam-android-source-project-mra58v-t3251663
As per 6.0.1 Rom's requirement, both Bootloader and Baseband have to be above 5.0. My baseband is still stuck at NG5.
I have the Sprint L720, has anyone posted the full PL1 rom? I bought it used and it was already on PL1. Tried flashing back to NG2, but kept getting the no seandroid error. Used a pit file that was listed on XDA and now it flashed, but it'll get stuck at the Sprint screen. Need some assistance on getting it to at least boot. Thanks much.
