I have spent hours reading the kernel files, looking for a way to lower the minimum volume across the board. ie headphones and speaker phone. Can someone point me in the right direction?
On previous kernels I was able to do this with a good kernel app but this kernel does not allow this.

u can play around with SPEAKER_UPLINK_VOLUME
&
RECEIVE_UPLINK_VOLUME
Not sure what hex to change to but do a search based on the 2 keys.
More will unravel after a search.

So I take it that no one has had success with the increasing caller volume hack in the registry? I tried editing maxincalluivolume and it will change the max number, but not the volume in general. Any one have success with this?
wrong thread, should be in the q&a section but in answer to your question there isnt any fix that im aware of. I know in europe many MP3 players had to have their volume reduced to fit in with EU laws, this is potentially the case on this ROM too...dunno, just a thought.
Yah I'm using the DFT roms release, and if I'm not in a quiet room I can't hear anything. Are the other roms the same? I'm on tmobile usa. Any info would be great.
Thanks
all the roms are the same, a few tweaks here an there but they are still pretty much identical, in answer to your question, they will all have the same issue, there is currently no way of controling all the seperate volumes. in a phone call if you press the volume buttons you can change in call volumes, at any other point its the sytem volume thats controled, there is an app for controlling the media volume however, search market place for media volume
I have seen this many times but cannot find a .zip anywhere with just this mod. I am looking for a loudness mod to increase the volume of the media speaker. Any help would be appreciated. I just got my Epic 4G today and I'm jumping right in. Thanks in advance
I want one too! Can barely hear my recorded audio when driving.
Still looking around for this. Any ideas?
Shameless bump, Still looking Maybe someone who applied a volume mod to their rom can zip up just that one mod and post it? Would be awesome
I'm not sure there is an external speaker volume mod, but there is VooDoo. Simply flash a kernel that has voodoo mods included. (Genocide, Visionkernel, twilight zone kernel).

I bet what you saw is the loudness mod in qpst. It might have been in cmda workshop, but I'm pretty sure that there was a spot in qpst that you can set speaker loudness for the ring, speaker, and something else. I don't recall it working, but the placebo effect is of great value to those that benefit from it.
I flashed twilight zone kernel and overclocked my cpu while I was at it. Voltage control wouldn't load though, for some reason, so I had to use a different app to set it to 1.3 Ghz, and it said the frequency was adjusted automatically, so I'll see if thats true or not.
Sorry for the ignorance but how do you tell if the voodoo sound driver is actually installed? I can't find mention of it anywhere in the phone UI.
Edit: haha, Guess I missed the memo about downloading voodoo control. I got it running fine now
It seems like I can never find a reasonable volume for headphone listening. One step is too quiet, but the next step up is way too loud. Coming from a galaxy S varient with voodoo sound, I'm a bit spoiled by its volumn control. Is there any way to increase the number of steps available to the volumn keys? I'm willing to go as far as editing and recompiling the code if that's the only way, just have to figure out if this is something that would be in the kernel or in android or if it is just a hardware limitation.
hello.
i'm pretty sure i saw somewhere a way of changing some system files in a rom to have a higher/lower volume sound (i'm talking about the real maximum level, not the volume like using volume buttons). i couldn't find anything about it. can anyone guide me? thatnks.
(what i want to do is to increase the maximum sound level)
