Stock SMS app quick repply and unlock with pattern problem - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello.
I have a little problem here : when I receiving an SMS notification on my lock screen. When I pull down the notification and I use a quick response and then I unlock my phone with the pattern and not the fingerprint, when I arrive to the SMS app my launcher is completely stuck. I can't do anything except go back with the buttons. I can't do anything other until I lock and i unlock the screen again.
Do you have the same issue on your phones ?
My phone is rooter and I have Xposed installed, may-be it's related ?

Puzzle Lock

In my settings I see Puzzle Lock. It was checked by default and I've since turned it off. I've not noticed a difference on/off so what the heck is it for?
When you have a notification (text message email etc) and you go to unlock your screen there will be a puzzle piece on the unlock screen and you can slide the piece into place on the screen to go directly to the notification.
When you get an SMS then the unlock screen will have a puzzle piece on it that you can swype into its hole (visible on screen) to launch directly into the SMS app. If you don't want to go to the SMS app, you can do a normal sweep unlock.
Does the puzzle piece only works for the stock messaging app? I am askng because I have handcent and it never works for me
I've never seen puzzle pieces for missed calls, emails nor text.
I'm running smspopup because I needed something that would annoy me more than once like the default notification.
Is anyone who is using the stock messaging apps seeing the puzzle lock screen for anything other than text messages? If I get a Google Talk message or a G-Mail message, the puzzle lock screen does not show. Only shows for texts.
It's not that big of a deal, just seems like a bug on my end.
i only get it for texts. i wish it worked for emails etc.
It's for SMS and missed calls only, through the stock apps only.
Works for me for texts and calls...dunno about emails because I only use touchdown...i presume it only works with stock apps though

My screen goes back to sleep after a notification when it's off. Maybe you have another app conflicting with it somehow?

ZOMG. This is definitely a step in the right direction.
I'm going to contact the developer and find out if I can get the code to the lockscreen disable portion of the app. Would love to see if I (or someone with actual Android programming experience) could tweak that into something that disables the swipe lock but can keep the pattern lock enabled.
-edit-
Email sent, though BIP's developer is out of town this weekend. If anyone knows of any other apps that accomplish this, I'd be interested to know.
lock 2.0 disables it, as well as the app "no-lock".
problem is, even with the new version of battery indicator, every app ive tried the stock slider still manages to come back someway somehow , battery indicator seems to be the best solution so far, and im wondering if its lock 2.0 that somehow brings back the stock slider.

Hey have you ever been able to receive a response from the dev?
If you are seeking a "new" lock screen, or the "no slider" look.
I highly recommend Widget Locker.
It has a root bypass of the lock screen "5 second rule" which starts up the "old" lock screen.
I bought the app, used the root bypass option, and i havent seen my old lock screen yet.
They even have a keypress unlock, if you want a very simple lock screen, and you can hold your back button down for .5-2sec or so to unlock.
Though, I dont use the pattern lock, so i have no idea if it works in combination with this or not?
Edit: Disregard, I didn't realize the age of this thread D:
Sorry for resurrecting such an old thread. Funny thing is that I actually did start using WidgetLocker and I DO sometimes get the stock lock screen before it starts, so I was looking for a way to completely disable the stock lock. There are some apps out there that remove the stock lock but it causes every hardware button to wake the device up, which is no good. (This includes battery indicator as I just found out)
Yea, thats no good, it kinda defeats the purpose of having some sort of alternative lock screen when it wakes up on key press like that
I'm not sure why, but i have never got the lock screen to pop up again, unless i kill widgetlocker myself.
Well, if you indeed find out how to get rid of that lockscreen, i would love to know, it would be nice to not have a app constantly running pretending to be an alternate lockscreen, you know?
I am using the Extended Controls app from the market.
With it you can enable & disable just about everything the X10 uses (including the lock screen).

[Q] Remove standard "slide lock screen"

Please help me...
I just bought the htc legend. I love the pattern lock screen which I set, so that i have to make a combination to unlock the screen, but as it is, the standard "slide lock sreen" is also there!!! How can I remove the slide screen lock so ONLY my pattern unlock screen is activated??
Please advice........
You can't. Sorry (It really annoyed me too)
Have you tried app called Nolock ? it works perfectly - removing the lock screen.. not sure about the patern lock though.

It removes pattern lock too
I guess it's needed to allow the "Lock phone after" x mins of inactivity.
I've however replaced HTC's with the AOSP one, have the sound button to mute the ringer
If you replace the HTC lock screen by another, that means we can disable it I guess...
When I was on CM 6.1, I just got the pattern code directly when I woke up the phone, no lockscreen !
You replace it so you can delete it right ?
I Guess I'm not helping, but i'm on one of the last ROM's (CM7 B2) and I only get the pattern unlock...
I don't understand why you would want no lockscreens at all (if that's what you're after)...
no just the pattern. So you don't have to slide down the lock screen and then make your code. It's an habit and it doesn't bother me much, but it's just a bit more quick without the slide lockscreen.
What ROM are you running now? Or is it the standard version of android?
I'm using BlaY0 B.07, sense based (otherwise there would be an option to remove the lockscreen).
What I don't understand though, is why can I replace my lockscreen, but can't remove it and keep the pattern code.
Or maybe the lockscreen I flashed (cryshop's, for sense only) is including the pattern code...

Unresponsive notification bar

The notification bar is unresponsive (cannot pull it down) when the phone is locked and I get an email or sms. When I immediately wake up the phone and try to pull down the notification bar it doesn't work. The 2nd attempt works.
Could somebody please try to reproduce this bug? Thank you.
Happens to me too; and I'm guessing you're using a different launcher?
When you boot the phone up without the SIM it is locked, and the launcher is hiding that.
Try force closing the launcher and you'll see whwhat I mean, there is a screen requiring your motoblur email and password.
Alright so I hadn't unlocked my phone yet this morning when I read your post. I unlocked it (new emails overnight) and swiped the notification bar down, no issues.
I don't know if this makes a difference, but I'm using the fingerprint sensor.

I don't use another launcher unfortunately. Everything is stock not even root access.

It only doesn't respond if you get them in that moment. You here the notification sound and then you unlock your phone and try to pull down the notification bar. When I get emails over night and I look at them in the morning it works.

I just tried this. Sent myself an email from gmail to work email (I use the google email.apk, not the moto blur for exchange). Phone was in my hand. When it dinged, I unlocked and notification bar worked.
THen I tried the same with exchange to gmail (motoblur gmail), and the bar worked again.
Do you use the fingerprint sensor, or is it locked in any way, or do you use the slider without password?

As a followup... I disabled the fingerprint sensor and tried this with the normal lock screen. Both the gmail and exchange tests worked

Thank you I still have this problem after a factory reset. I use the normal lock screen without any pin or pattern. I's weird because to me it looks more like a software problem but I have no idea why some devices don't have this problem.

Keeps asking for password instead of fingerprint after APD1 update

After I've installed the 220MB update yesterday, the phone keeps asking for password almost every single time I unlock the phone. Even though I've got fingerprint enabled.
Keeps saying enter password according to device security policy.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Do you have a 3rd party launcher, I read somewhere Samsung made a change to what 3rd party apps are allowed to do, if you set something in the launcher that has to do with unlocking the phone this will be the result.
Thanks for the reply?
Yes, I have Smart Launcher Pro.
But is this new to this update? And is there any way to turn it off??
You can not switch it on and off. The only solution is to go back to the default launcher.
I think I found the solution. It uses Device admin rights to turn off screen on double tap. Disabling that seems to fix it.
i have the same issue
Im running stock launcher and i faced this problem as soon as i updated. nothing else is wrong with the phone except this fail to recognise my fingerprint.
After reading the post about launchers i remembered that i have 3 apps that tweak my phone, 'Galaxy buttons Lights', 'Easy Home' & 'All in one Gestures'. I disabled all and enabled each one and found out that 'All in one Gestures' was causing the issue. I had set up the app to have the top and bottom corners to toggle drop down menu and lock phone. These gestures where also active on the lock screen hence i think it was hindering the fingerprint recognition process. I guess the app has to push an update to fix this.
I now have this problem after update, I'm on stock its driving me mad!
Found my problem, its my screen off/lock widget.
I've now just tried 5 others and they all cause this problem, if I close by physical button then I don't get asked for pin on unlock, only if I use the widget does this happen
Same here. Although it's just S7, without the edges... And my password is over 10 characters long! So if anyone finds a true solution, that would be great... Stock launcher.
same with nova launcher, if you are using gesture to lock sreen, it needs pin/password to unlock, fingerprint is not enough...
samsung.. pls ..stahp..
