I have a weird bug which annoys me. Quite often the YouTube app just shows a static video screen and not the video. I can hear the audio fine.
If I close the app from the multitasking screen and restart YouTube app it works fine.
Anybody with a similar problem or is it a software bug?

I've got a strange issue with YouTube thats causing all video files on the phone to stop working (playing)
YouTube is working ok, but if I pause any video thats playing & let the screen time out (turn off) when I return back to the phone the youtube video doesnt 'unpause' & then youtube freezes. I get the 'Youtube isnt responding' dialog box & I can kill the application. The samething happens is I try to skip through the video using the slider at the bottom.
The really odd thing about this though is that after this freeze happens I cannot play ANY video on the phones (avi, mp4 etc) using MX Player or the normal player. I just get the 'waiting' circle. I need to restart the phone.
Anyone got any ideas whats going on?
Cheers.
It could be the ROM you're on.

Using stock ROM, 4.2.1
Happens to me too, but I'm not sure about other videos stopping working after youtube crashes. Usually have to reboot my phone to fix it. It also happens (always) when I'm playing a video from my data/wifi and then switch from data/wifi to wifi/data, if that makes sense?
Hopefully will be fixed soon.
Happens to me too on my stock N4, very annoying especially if I want to seek half way through a long video. Seems to be OK on wifi. It also happens if I try and play an HQ video over my data connection. So seems like there's no fix for this yet? Argh!
A try to play 1hr long video but never makes it stops after 30min or more, and playback is unresponsive ..during stock and force rom, any fix? Not to mention theres a bug whenever I connect a pc speaker no audio comes out sometimes and then my phone speakers stops as well when I disconnect it

Anyone here with instagram video feature updated. Does it lag when you push the record button? 3 seconds to start recording? Or is it just my S4 that is doing this.
Thanks
There's a slight delay when I record using snapchat. Not 3 seconds buts maybe in between 1-2. Instagram does the same.

Snapchat lags because it defaults to still mode and when you hold it down, it has to switch to video capture mode. I've noticed a significant lag with Instagram's video capture as well...and not just for the first recorded segment. It seems to take a few seconds to get it started each time I continue recording to the same video. Vine doesn't have that delay at ALL (except for the initial way-too-long loading). It's definitely an Instagram problem, and I'm sure they'll fix it with further updates. Hopefully they fix the audio clipping issue, that one I find more annoying.
So I just got this little dongle thing, and its all choppy at times, and sometimes the audio is out of sync with the video.
Specifically I have been using Netflix and the default video player. Power saving is off. It should work fairly smooth and I'm literally 4 feet away so I don't think it's reception.
Any suggestions to smoothen the video playback?

FIXED ... turns out it is just a bug in the Netflix app. Every time I run it the problem starts and it carries over into the YouTube app and the video player. Reboot the device and everything runs fine, until you run the Netflix app again. Unfortunately the same bug in the Netflix app afflicts my Bluetooth headphones.
Wondering if it's an incompatibility with the device and that version of the Netflix app or what? And does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it

I have been using a Moto X Style (also known as Moto X Pure Edition in the US) for a couple of weeks now. I have been using it since it got the Marshmallow update and don't know much about how it was before on Lollipop.
I have noticed some performance issues with the device. The first one is more easily noticeable. Scrolling is just isn't great in many apps, such as Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. You'd think a powerful phone like this would scroll smoothly, but it just doesn't and many older phones such as the Nexus 5 seem to do a better job in comparison.
Second one is a bit more odd. If you have a recent Motorola device and have watched YouTube videos on it, you'd know a sort of filter kicks in a couple of seconds after you make the video full screen. The same thing happens on this phone as well, but when it does the video freezes and only the audio keeps playing. This doesn't happen on all videos and only happens at 1440p resolution, but I can reproduce it easily with multiple videos (like the latest MKBHD video on YouTube gear, for example).
I personally find the filter kicking in annoying enough as it is, because it tends to use dynamic contrast nonsense to adjust the display brightness according to the screen contents in the video but if that wasn't bad enough it is now causing the video to freeze every time it kicks in.
Anybody else noticing these issues on their device?
I also had the scrolling issue.
Im on 6.0, too.
Yesterday, I made a factory reset and this problem had gone away.

I just noticed that exact same issue also only in 1440p and also watching a MKBHD video and it just gets stuck while the audio keeps going, I tried force closing the app, clearing cache and app data and also disable all xposed modules to do with youtube (Youtube background audio playback module and no ads module enabled) it still didn't fix the issue after reboot.
Any ideas?
Also noticed since marshmallow that Shazam and Soundhound both can't hear any sound via microphone to identify songs playing.
Marshmallow definitely broke the Truecaller app for me. Not sure about Shazam and SoundHound.
