So even though I only bought my phone earlier this month, it was manufactured February 28 (serial HT52W...).

I thought it was stupid to ask someone if there are differences between different factory units, untile I saw that this guy got 2 different models!!
really looking forward to know if he spotted something
+1
Well, absolutely no difference except build quality. The present one still has some minor build quality issues, but nothing to worry about.
I bought my phone directly from HTC a few days after they were available.

Are there any news or rumors on the HTC Omni at this year's CES ?
this is the only thing i've found so far...
http://www.brighthand.com/default.asp?newsID=12727
yeah, I have read this too. ... rumors ... I also read something about a video output as well ... damn how long do we have to wait ? Is there any event in the near future when the omni could be announced? What is the most likely time when we can buy the htc universal successor ? The HTC Universal could be bought in august 2005 (Germany T-Mobile) 7 months after it was announced ... *shrugh*
The next most likely place (if it's anywhere near ready) would be at 3GSM in early Feb... So not that long to wait...
And then after that, maybe Cebit in Germany in March/April time frame...
On some sites it says "at the end of April". There are rumors that it will be available in May... what do you think?
I'm from Switzerland and in one store it says "mid. of May"... I hope it will be available sooner.
From what I know (about the situation here in France), the initial launch date was April 16th. But it seems like it will be postponed to end of April... maybe April 22th on SFR website and April 26th in stores.
As usual, wait & see...
theres reports that due to a hardware change, the release date is now may, and some people claim they might be changing for camera (3.2mg to 5.0)
source (http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/02/...til-may?icid=sphere_blogsmith_inpage_engadget)
and this is the reason why people believe they upgrading the cam, (look at pics)
source (http://www.tmonews.com/2009/03/htc-magic-passes-fcc-for-t-mobile-usa/)
welcome...
All is in the roadmap
When you look at the unofficial and leaked HTC roadmap for 2009, you can see three different versions of the Sapphire :
- Sapphire VF (VodaFone)
- Sapphire 1.5 DCM (DCM ?)
- Sapphire 2.0 TMO (TMObile)
The one with a 5Mp from FCC site is Sapphire 2.0 (T Mobile is written on). I presume VF (and maybe v1.5) will keep its 3.2Mp camera.
And concerning that quote from HTC ("due to a last minute hardware change"), my opinion is that it refers to the buttons layout changes between pre-series models (check CeBit photos) and the official one (press conference pics).
Or maybe the undisclosed service manual made HTC think over some last minute changes... as usual, wait & see
I was in my local Vodafone shop last weekend and spoke to one of the sales staff they have been told 1st May 2009 for UK launch.
Could DCM be for DoCoMo in Japan???
(just a guess, but figured i'd throw it out there)

It would make sens... a few HTC products are available through NTT DoCoMo, so why not the Magic
I think Sapphire 1.5 DCM, DCM means dopod China Mobile.
dopod is a wholly-owned subsidiary of HTC in China for China Mobile.

That would make sens too... so DoCoMo or Dopod China Mobile ? Time will tell (although we've already hear about China Mobile's Magic )
By the way, Magic's release date (in France) which was supposed to be 'End of April' will surely be postponed... :/
Okay, anybody know (for sure not guess work please) WHERE I could buy a New Xperia X2i SILVER that was made 10W28 or newer?
All the X2 s floating around in the U.S., even from reputable sellers, are made LAST year 2009 week 48 (!), that is November!!! The newest I found and bought was 10W03 (third week in January 2010) and I saw several, all of them have VERY dark LCDs. Meaning not bright white but rather a brownish tone to it.
So I am looking to find at least 1. So far not luck and I almost believe SE did not produce any after January 2010. What is your phones manufacture date? But SILVER only please. The black ones are still being produced, I know!
dont buy xperia x2! i have a one !it sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
look here got one a few days ago
And what is the manufacture date of your Silver X2?
The one you got, is it SILVER, and what is it manufacture date (sticker inside phone battery compartment -10Wxx or 09Wxx-)?
As for those people, I hope you did not pay that price, looks to me like price gaugers!!! The price in the U.S. is perhaps at a pricey retailer 4(!)39 =439 but certainly NOT over 500$$$$ ! Such suckers!
Mobilephoneonline has it now for 369!!!
But see, that is not the issue, I was asking WHAT IS THE MANUFACTURE date of the phones sold/bought.
So if you check and let me know, would be great. Thanks

don't beleive what you see on a site for more tech specs www.sonyericsson.com
Yeah, that is what I mean, most all suppliers in the U.S.A. have just 09W48, which is 2009 week 48.... OLD !!!
The latest one I found so far is 10W03, 2010 week 3, but all those have VERY dark screens. They have all kind of BROWNISH Color Tone.
So that is why I posted this, it would be VERY interesting WHERE to get a newer production phone and if those LCDs are dark too.
About this capacitve screen, no way. Same goes for Bluetooth version, most say its 2.1 I think even SE says it. BUT IT IS ONLY 2.0 !!! Suckers!
I use it as a second phone, it's ok. it lives up to my expectations. my primary phone is an HTC HD2 that is a phone for heavy use...
Anybody newer than 10W05 ?
Okay, just for info: anybody got a SILVER X2 with EN newer than 10W05 ?
This is Week 5 in 2010 ! Some say this phone has been discontinued and I never found any newer than 10W05 in the U.S. of A.
I almost got a silver but decided on the black - looks cool sexy. You sure you want a silver X2..well the shell looks gorgeous, but Michael - it simply sucks in the inside. I've become a software engineer instead of a salesperson since getting X2 last month...it sucks..trust me...it sucks..I am neck deep buried with lots of work to do and at the same time - most of the time; fiddling sw patches on my X2 instead of doing real business..might as well use a Moleskin notebook as a pda..the ranting goes on...
Hi guys,
Is hardware revision a myth in Nexuses' story or real? You might remember the whole story with the "new" hardware for Hammerhead with bigger speaker holes, etc.
I'm asking in order to know if I should buy when available (still not in my country) or wait until the end of the year.
Thanks!
somebody brought this up in another thread and i can't remember a Nexus device since the N1 that had any sort of hardware revision that would have any impact to the core functionality of the device itself (think lifecycle, improvement in performance, change in battery, etc). there's always a possibility that the hardware manufacturer decides to source parts from another distributor which MAY mean different tech/revision, etc., but this is more rare now than ever.
are you just worried about becoming an early adopter? devices like these aren't like vehicles. when you purchase a TV, you're probably less concerned about the model revision than the actual size/performance/features. the chromecast remained largely unchanged since its release. you can almost guarantee that these devices will have no hardware changes.
I clearly recall a revision for the Nexus 5 (I waited for it), that was about improving the speaker volume by increasing the size of the speaker holes. Is that considered a functional update?

Hardware differences
I bought my first Nexus 6P on January 2016...it happens that a bit more than 1 year later, it crashed and fell into the infamous bootloop bug with no way for myself to recover it. It was sent to Huawei service center in the USA "to be repaired"... A few days passed by and I got an email from them, telling me that they had assessed that my phone was essentially fried and since I had warranty (still !) they would be sending me a "replacement unit". I was truly worried if I would be getting a refurbished unit or a new one. By the way, the unit I sent, the one with the bootloop was in PRISTINE state.
I have gotten now a replacement unit and noticed several different things: here are some pieces of data from each device:
Old 6P, Replacement 6P
BL: angler-03-64, angler-03-62
Baseband: angler-03.78, angler-03.72
Product/Variant: ANGLER-VN2, ANGLER-VN2
Serial Number: XXXXX15C03XXXXXX, XXXXX16B04XXXXXX
Manufacture date: 03-DIC-2015, 04-NOV-2016
CPU: MSM8994 0x2001, MSM8994 0x2001
eMMC: 128GB Samsung, 128GB Toshiba
DRAM 3072MB HYNIX LPDDR4, 3072MB MICRON LPDDR4
Factory OS: Android 6.x, Android 7.0
As you can see above, the "new" device was manufactured almost 1 year after the "old" one; 11 months to be precise.
The memory in case of the eMMC is Samsung in the older one and Toshiba in the new one., the DRAM is HYNIX in the old one and MICRON in the new one.
Based on the fact that this "replacement unit" was manufactured in November 2016 and I am getting it in mid March 2017, I think it is fairly safe to assume that this is a "new" device that hasn't been "out" of Huawei, that it it hasn't been sold before to other end user... Of course this is only a wild guess...wishful thinking if you wish.
So, it is quite probable that there are also some type of hardware revisions as to correct minor issues, specially those where the "original" components proved to be
prone to failures or certain "issues".
Could this be considered a hardware version or a hardware revision? Not sure...it there are instrinsic design changes, I'd say YES, if this is only a change in vendor's name for the memory, then NO (if the other vendor's memory has exactly the same specs).... But, what about quality of those components? could it be different from one vendor to the other? Could that be the case of some issues...such as the bootlloop problem? Still lots of questions in the air. Your comments are welcome.
Kind regards.

What program did u use to get that information?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Nexus 6P Hardware versions
I didn't use any program to gather this information, instead I just booted the 6P into bootloader modr and got this information right there on the screen.
Turn off your phone, wait a couple of seconds, press and hold the volume down key and simultaneously press the power button. Your phone should boot into bootloader mode with a large set of information on the lower left quarter of your screen and a green Android being serviced in the middle. If you hit the volume up/down keys, the selected option should change, press power button to select any one of those. The "Barcodes" option presents additional to about your phone.
By the way, the Serial number of your phone has in fact encoded its manufacture date as follows:
From the serial number (S/N) you will find:
Pos 6-7: Year
Pos 8: Month (Oct=A, Nov=B, Dec=C)
Pos 9-10: Date
E.g. my S/N is XXX021671400XXXX
So manufacturing date of my*the device*is July 14, 2016.
this is my 3rd nexus 6p with manufacturing date nov 2015 with samsung internal drive.. the 2nd unit i got before was with manufuctu ing date december 2015 with toshiba. both dont have bootloop problem . hopefully it will stay this way but only time can tell.
Are there any manufacturing defects in Mi A1 BLACK "made in China" variants ?
Q1. Are there any manufacturing defects in Mi A1 "Black- Made in China " variants compared to "White - Made in India" variants.
I have read many reviews on internet forums that Black variants which are made in China have some manufacturing defects and people are facing many problems particularly from the black - made in China variant like dead pixels, light leakage from sides, low screen quality and dull color saturation, automatically reboot and bootloop problems, heating, hanging problem, low 4G signal reception problems etc compare to white - "made in India" model. Overall Black "made in China" variants have low quality hardware components compared to White "made in India" variants. During flipkart sale in 4 to 8 Oct 2017, white - made in India variants get out of stock in few minutes or hours but black one remain in stock till the full end of the sale. I was very shocked to see that. It Means many people may know that Black "made in China" variants have issues.
(Very Important) Q2. Is there any chances that New batches of Mi A1 "BLACK" variants which will delivered in October after flipkart India 4 to 8 October sale, come with "Made in India" models and not "Made in China"?
Are these problems fixed in new batches which will be delivered after 4 to 8 Oct flipkart sale?

Sorry but I'm not from India. I'm from Malaysia, thus I'm not purchased it from Flipkart. I bought the black one on Sept 29 from some local dealer and it's made in China. Honestly, I don't have any clues about your second question. Can't help with that.

Yep, I'm facing problems with 4g network. Mine is the black, made in China variant. On the first few tries, when somebody calls me or I try to call somebody through the 4g sim, the call always gets disconnected. Also, the data connection repeatedly disconnects and reconnects automatically.
Mine mobile is black edition made in china bought from Flipkart.only issue i found so far is that network fluctuations on airtel 4g network.
edit: after October update no issue at all. love the Android one.
