Anyone have any idea how to disable the data usage warning? I'm aware that I can just set the limit to a ridiculous amount and it will stop going off, but that's not what I'm looking for. I guess I'm just easily annoyed by the fact that there is no setting to turn this off. You can uncheck the box for "set data limit" but that still doesn't get rid of the warning. Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.
I can't see how this doesn't work: Settings, Data usage, turn off Set cellular data limit (it's a toggle button). Unless you have the T-Mobile app on your device you should not get any warnings with this toggled off.

The warning will still go off, and the notification will still show.

Is there a reason raising the slider isn't acceptable? It's one of the first things I do on a new phone because the warning pops up pretty quickly after downloading apps and streaming music. Mine is set to like 100GB or something.

Because as I stated in the OP, that's not what I want. Other OEMs include a way to completely disable it, that's what I wanted.

Noticed lately that every time I wake my screen up from being off by just pressing the power button and unlock it, the phone seems to do a data refresh and the 3G icon lights up and the up/down arrows light up transferring data.
Any clue why this would be? I think it might effect my gmail as I've noticed some times that ill get mail upon waking up the screen.
I'm using DC 3.2.3 with the FPS kernel for the Epson screens if it makes any difference. Also have that gmail account set up on exchange in the htc mail set to check every 4 hrs but the issue I notice the lack of push some times is in the actual gmail app that should be 100% push from what I understand.
The data transmit on screen wake up is what gets me though. I have gtalk still running in the background before anyone jumps on that. Also noticed this issue when running the stock rom too so dont think its a DC thing.
Any suggestions or comments on this?
bump for some hopeful insight on this
Probably some kind of a script on turning display on.
Check Autostarts.

Any particular way to do this? I mean I can check the running services and see whats running but I want to see whats using the data connection on the screen wake up.
Settings > Wireless > Mobile Networks > "enable always-on mobile data"
if it's unchecked, it will pull certain data when you wake the phone.

While that makes sense I'd like to know what is constantly using data it seems with mobile data on b/c it still flash's the arrows quite a lot. This is odd to me when i dont have anything loaded to refresh every 15sec or somin like that and even the weather is set to every hour.... other than that and set cpu, titanium backup, system panel there isn't anything running out of the norm thats not htc/android related in the running services.
I have the paid version of juicedefender. For the most part I love it. But I have one question. For all apps that I have 3G enabled for (gmail, maps, etc), it takes a good 10 seconds or more between turning on the app, and getting any indicator that 3G is being enabled.
Does everyone else have this same issue?
Ie, I launch gmail, hit refresh, and wait - and nothing happens. Then I wonder what's wrong - about 10-15 seconds later, the 3G icon pops up in status bar, then the refresh starts.
I think most people have juicedefender enable data on the screen turning on, or the screen unlocking. I do notice there is a good 4-5 second delay after I turn on the screen. This is to be expected, at least to a certain extent.
Setting jd to enable data on unlock is probably the best compromise of convenience and battery life. I use that or toggle off data completely depending on where I'm at, using the jd widget to switch between modes.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot and see if it doesn't kill my battery.
Since killing the DRM processes, my battery life has been tremendous! so maybe now I can afford to have 3G on with the screen.

If you're going to be doing alot of usage not requiring data you can always use the handy jd widget to toggle data off. The widget has 3 modes:
On - user controlled
On - jd controlled
Off - user off

Had the same issue, but its alot more noticeable on this phone than my hero because this phone unlocks and is ready to go so much faster. I ended up getying rid of it because I stream slacker for ~9 hours a day and it just got in the way otherwise.

Hi,
when I am downloading a large file, my screen turns off after some time when I do nothing. So far so good. But when I resume to my Android I must see that the Wifi-connection was turned off, too - I think because of battery power saving.
But it was turned off during my file download, so I have to download it again and I have to keep my screen not to turn off by tapping on it periodically. That's what is annyoing me.
I recognized that the connection is not deactivated directly after the screen was turned off. It lasts some time (minutes?) then the wifi connection is turned off, too.
Is there a way to prevent the deacitivation of the wifi connection when the screen is turned off?
Thanks for your answers.
Yes,
Goto settings>wireless connections>wifi adjustments
There you should find an option for WiFi selection politics. Just choose not to never disconnect.
Cheers
Hmm, it is already set to "Never disconnect".
I think this setting is only useful when you want to switch automatically between mobile data (GPRS/UTMS) and WiFi.

No. That happens whether you want it or not if you have a wifi access.
Or I have a couple of busted phones at home that totally ignore this setting.
Tell your screen to never shut off, then change back.
I like what the smart wifi does and dont want to turn it off. however it always seems like right when im in the middle of something the stupid notification will pop up asking me if i want to connect to one of the available wifi hotspots. is there a way to get rid of the popup? all i want is for it to enable/disable wifi when i am getting close to my known wifi locations.

That doesn't do it, either. I have that disabled and have for a while. But I still get those popup's every now and then.
is it possible to reset the database used for the "Smart mode" Wi-Fi option? When I first got my device I remember after a day or so the Wi-Fi would automatically turn on if I was in the vicinity of my home and my parent's home. Now it won't turn on in either locations, however it will turn on in certain locations "randomly" that do have Wi-Fi... for example today at work it would turn on several times after turning it off and entering certain floors that carried Wi-Fi. There has to be a database of some sort or a way to reset it so the only two locations that matter to me, home and parent's home, get preference to "Smart mode". any suggestions?
Theoretical, haven't tried it, but try this -
Settings / More / Application Manager / All / Sprint Connections Optimizer -
Force stop
Clear cache and data
reboot
thanks for responding, unfortunately I do not see "Sprint Connections Optimizer" even under the All tab in Application Manager. I'm on 4.3 if that makes any difference...
That's Really Odd....

I don't have the Sprint Optimizer as well. I found this thread because the "do you want to use smart mode" (paraphrasing) pops up all the time for me despite the fact that I always have it enabled. It's quite annoying when it pops up in the middle of the night and lights up the entire bedroom. Anyone else suffering from this deluded feature?

Hmmm.... I have a 720T on 4.3. Could be the culprit/difference. Can't investigate what I don' t have.
And I'm holding off on updating...

anyone know how this smart mode thing works? should I leave wi-fi on all the time and let it do its thing or what? seems like with this option on, wi-fi keeps turning on even when I turn it off.
By any chance, is this setting in WiFi / Advanced what you're looking for?

thanks for this link! never noticed that specific option in the advanced part of the wi-fi settings. wonder how true it is when the article states that leaving this option on saves battery versus firing up the GPS chip. I understand GPS would suck more, but would it do it silently at the app's request even though the app isn't running in the foreground? Anyway, this setting might be intertwined to the Smart mode Wi-Fi option, however Smart mode Wi-Fi is a separate option along with this one you pointed out... which kind of raises more questions!
