WOW No one wants to through their input into this?
I'm in a similar position trying to find a cheap android hu with decent bluetooth. I was looking at an eonon, but found these avinusa units which supposedly have parrot bluetooth - https://avinusa.com/7-universal-dou...android-multimedia-navigation-system-159.html
I own a parrot asteroid smart and it has been a great unit but the software and hardware is dated now. The bluetooth handsfree and voice command are awesome though so I'm very interested in how these avinusa units are. If you do get one I'd love to hear your feedback on it or any other unit you get.

I previously had a carjoying and had the same bs. horrible bt call quality even after mods.
I have a AN-21U 2nd gen unit now, built specifically for my car and BT quality is excellent.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...nd-generation-4-4-2-android-21u-ouku-t3230587
It does have some quirks about the way the unit handles BT (treats BT as separate device from unit instead of part of the unit), but it's still really good and a huge improvement over carjoying.

I would like to replace the head unit in my Toyota Camry LE 2007 with a Android one. I am currently looking into Joying & Ownice models. In the Joyice thread, there were complaints about the bluetooth audio being very bad. Does Ownice units have this problem? I apologize for creating a new thread, but the Ownice thread has become too big.
Just so people coming across this thread won't get a bad idea, I am posting this. Looks like Joying's BT is only an issue when you are on phone with somebody.
1) Bluetooth audio quality streaming music from my phone, or from phone calls, to the head unit = excellent. Works like a charm.
2) Bluetooth audio quality that the PEOPLE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PHONE hear, not so good. It is better since doing the mic mod detailed in this thread, but the road noise and echo that the caller on the other end hears is not good. It honestly doesn't bother me much, since I don't have to hear it, but they constantly are asking me if my window is down. This could potentially be from:
A) Needing a better microphone
B) Needing a better microphone jack
C) Needing a better head unit
Either way, I don't hear it and I don't talk to people that much while driving, so not a big deal to me.
If number 1 above is your problem, try updating your MCU or trying a new rom. There might also be some volume settings to play with in Factory Settings code "126". If none of that works, contact joying for a replacement.

Ownice units have different problems like reboots and app data loss.
I own an Ownice C200 v3 (they produce the C200 units for Navall to) and overall i am satisfied, good radio receiver from NXP, especially about the bluetooth 3.0, which is clear on both sides, good audio sound...
The only sad thing are those reboots and app loses, although it is much less with the latest updates. They working on those problems but the progress is slow.

I'm looking on the same models but Ownice is proposing 2 GB Ram so I guess it should be better than 1 Gb.
What did you choose?
Hi guys..
Well first of all how I wish I'd checked these forums first before buying as I wouldn't have, second I wish I'd at least bought from the UK as I'd get some support. But hey ho I didn't and I'm stuck with it as returning to china seems to risky after the message suggested returning at a value of $70 so they don't get taxed and also making sure its sent by EMs so it doesn't get lost in transit like many units do at customs!!
So I bought what seemed to be an all singing all dancing unit from seicane store on ali express, for my seat ibiza mk5. According to the system info via root check app it's a px3, 7.1.2 android, rock chip, rk30sdk.
Amongst many other problems my main one is the Bluetooth audio quality over A2DP is horrendous, and it's not an amp problem as over aux or USB it's perfect. I've been looking at airplay using air bubble app and personal hotspot but it's too long to load and unstable I only drive 15 min to work so just want fast music to my ears! I've considered getting a Bluetooth transmitter and sticking it in the aux input but not ideal.
Anyone got suggestions as to what the issue may be and if it can be resolved?
Thanks in advance hope I can get this stable one day!
mine is also horrendous, and I also have a very short drive. Connecting a hotspot and launching app and getting a song, takes just too long for me. I'm basically already at my destination by the time I get it up. My workaround was to do what you said, and get a bluetooth transmitter and sticking to the aux, because aux sounds fine, but just bluetooth over a2dp sounds so bad, and has this distorted high end sound. This solution worked for me for awhile, but the only downside is you don't get song information on the head unit to display, which is a tad annoying for me.
I've contacted my radios reseller, and they're just ridiculously helpless, all they do is keep sending me a "software" update to fix it, but it does nothing. I've been searching for over a year for a solution, but have found nothing to fix it, other than what I just said. Problem was still there even when I used custom roms. SO I don't really think its a software issue, maybe some kind of hardware I can replace or modify, but I just really have no clue.

Yeh I've ruled out airplay as an option,
you've got me interested though as you're in a similar boat as me so hopefully can help, do you have the exact same unit for an ibiza or?
And yes thats exactly whats annoying me not getting track info, may as well just use the original head unit if i get a bluetooth transmitter!! which transmitter did you get? i've got a really cheap basic one years old and its got a high pitched whining noise in between song skips so its there just muffled out by songs playing, I'm wondering if thats probably just a cheap receiver I've got..
I'll try get somewhere with the hardware see about a new bluetooth module but no idea on the interface would be total guess work and risky at that, not even sure how to safely root this one.
Other issues i'm having which may be common and you may know? I got a dash cam which cam with a yellow RCA, an Acc+ wire, a ground wire and a 12V wire.. i don't understand why its got an Acc+ and a 12V, i thought similar things both transmit power just one off the ignition being on only? theres no 12v out wire on the head unit except 'cam pow' which I've tried to no avail. I plan on recording direct to the SD card on the camera.
Subwoofer out, does this work on our units? i bought it because i plan adding a 4 channel amp for F/R speaks and a sub amp for a single sub.. but does the rca not work / no amplifier control over it?!
Cheers hope to get somewhere with this as i feel a bit down that its not all singing all dancing like i expected lol.
i have a Seicane with Android 6.0 already, which I dont really have any problems with, but it is not PX3
however, I do have a Seicane with Android 7.1 on the way that does have a PX3. I'll report back when i get it to see if I have any issues

Well the 6.0 version is totally different hardware
it is a known issue that no one seems to have a fix for. Im having this same issues with my PX5 Dasaita unit and had this issue on a previous Xtrons unit aswell. I believe it is a problem with the bluetooth drives not supporting the higher bitpools of recent bluetooth updates hence the bad quality. Ive even tried installing a USB bluetooth dongle but could not get the unit to recognize it.

Well I also have a Dasaita PX5 and I definitely didn't have a problem on that one. I would listen to Bluetooth audio on it pretty regularly.
Quick from Hot Audio did email me and ask about it, saying they had heard complaints, and sent me a new harness, but I haven't needed it

Well i've gone an ordered a car play dongle, so hopefully that will be a solution for good radio and a more functional nav at the same time.
Any tips for the dash cam guys? i ordered the 3 cable power one rather than a usb to keep the slots free.. not sure where i should hook them up to. (12V yellow, Acc+ red, black Grnd), i've only got an acc+ on the back of the harness and ground i made an earth wire to the car. Left the 12v off and it doesn't turn on. but my unit doesn't have a 12v, only acc+ or cam pow.
Got a pic or link to the camera you got?
So i have this camera..
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/140...32812106756.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.MXwOS4
and this unit..
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Aft...32827061575.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.MXwOS4
The seller said to connect acc+ to acc+ on the unit, 12v to the cars 12v and grnd to the cars ground. I made an earth for the ground just to a screw towards the rear inside of the dash, but not sure where i'll safely take 12v from? especially with the car having a can bus if i splice any wires that may cause an error? Surely these units put out a 12v signal somewhere?
heres the wiring diagrams... https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1z7DmnMn.PuJjSZFk763_lpXaZ.png
Also another Q regarding using an external amplifier for speakers and a sub.. is there an issue with the actual volume sent to the amps and can this be resolved? depending what input i give the head unit the volume differs, aux a lot quieter than usb stick or bluetooth.. but even both of them at volume 30 neither are really very loud where you here the speakers distorting, with a standard radio or branded head unit towards top end the speakers would distort so i can set a 'safe' max limit, my concern is the android head unit will limit the amp? and i've seen no info on rooting these units for viper4audio if that would help.
Thanks
Edit: how would i check if the 'cam-pow' wire is putting out 12v with a multimeter? just hold one probe to the wire and touch a ground point with the other?
BT & USB Support on PX5
Guys,
Sorry to tell you, the ROMS are very stripped down and as a result, the only support will be for the listing of BT modules that are on the main board and only for the ones list in the setup. You will not be able to add an external usb BT module to the head unit, it will not reconize them, and therefor will not work. Same with other USB devices. All support has been stripped out of the firmware. Some of these company's are getting slick enough to modify the firmware even more to only support devices that they sell, locking you into buying there junk. Good Luck! I had a BT problem with a Seicane Head Unit, and tried every possible, BT usb module only to find out what they do. Anyone want to purchase BT usb modules cheap!!!!!!

Hello everybody,
I'm searching for the best unit for Volkswagen Passat B7 (year 2012) to replace my RCD 510. What I am looking for:
- Android unit with 8'' - 10'' diagonal
- Dual channel Can-Bus - (the unit should display car events: door open, AC temperature settings, parking sensors information)
- VW car steering wheel control support
- DAB+
- Good bluetooth or integration with VW bluetooth module (Is this even possible?)
I've heard about Joying, Seicane and Dasaita and I'm not sure which one is better. Your advice or suggestions will be much appreciated and welcomed. Thank you.
Best Regards
I can hardly answer your question as it stated since I only tried (and use) Joying HU.
I've replaced my RNS-510 mostly because map updates in my region are not supported anymore. Had quite a hard time with Joying, but finally have no any doubts that would do it (change) again.
My HU is 8" with HW buttons, which helps alot: being able to switch to Navi/Radio/Home from any screen is a good thing. CAN bus works OK: climate indication, doors, outside temp, safety belts, fuel, mileage, park sensors, rear view cam, hand brake status, steering wheel controls do work. I did not buy DAB+ and had a hard time with AM/FM radio reception, but changing antenna harness (both were in Joying's direct supply) solved the problem.
BT app is much inferior to the VW factory unit, especially if you do outcoming calls when driving. Incoming calls are also first identified with bare numbers, not names - it corrects on the 2nd call.
I use Huawei E8xxx 4G modem as WiFi hotspot, Joying rear cam and Joying dashcam. All in all - it's a new world which opens to you with Android HU. I could not have something like this (and much more) on factory RNS: https://yadi.sk/i/Zg1TFzHu3PDvou
You plan to abandon RCD unit, which is not a Navi system. For those like me who had RNS Navi - you are going to miss correct tunnel/no GPS guidance and correct direction in the morning when factory Navi knows right from ignition how to make proper guidance. In 3-rd party HU there is no compass, gyros and speed sensor data which are used by a navi program (speed is available via CAN, but a navi program is not aware of it, only GPS). I still agree when VW calls it's 9 year old factory HU a "premium navi".
Sound quality can not compare to factory unit despite that brand new "digital amp" (I have "D" model), but here I am lucky - all my audio interests are in FM news radio.
I also have a Passat 2012 and a Joying Sofia 8" with HW knobs (JY VL130N2).
I am generally very pleased with this combination. Everything works except for
BT indeed is not perfect.
Dasaita units also have a good reputation here. I never had one, so I cannot tell much about those...
Hello,
Thanks for response. I'm wondering if there's a specific model from Joying that's current "the best". At the moment I'm looking at:
VW 6.0 OCTA CORE HEAD UNIT PX5 and VW NEW DIGITAL AMPLIFIER AUTORADIO ANDROID 6.0 HEAD UNIT
If anyone have any other suggestions (Dasaita, Seicane...) please dont hesitate to say. Thanks.
Regards
Do not mess with "octa PX5". The second link is OK, since the part number is DE-JY-VM130N2D - just the same I have. If you have external amp, then "D" model is not recomended, take one without "digital amp" built in - like DE-JY-VM130N2.
With that choice we have a very promising perspective, just take a look here https://forum.carjoying.com/thread-1377-current-state-of-hackishness-.html

Why are you saying do not mess with PX5? A lot of users recomends PX5 because it is new and has unofficial support like PX3, so seems more futureproof than anything else right now.
It's been a while XDA oh how i miss thee. I left for a while as I went to the darkside (iphone since i needed something 'secure' for work) but I'm back with an android device and I'm super stoked. Just finished installing A6Y2721PRB in my Solara JBL 2006 w/ the dreaded JBL Amplifier. Honestly one of the cleanest installs I've done in a while. Also I needed to do this urgently as my radio crapped out and I was driving around without any controls in Los Angeles traffic. I used a harness kit so I wouldn't have to tap into the factory wires and from there every connection from the harness to the gps/camera/wifi/mic/etc you name it, was super easy
Pros
- Incredibly fast. When they say 2s boot up time ,they man it.
- It's a beatufiul headunit. Polished packaging and device you really feel confident it'll last. Everything was considered when designing this unit.
- Double Din fit is on point. I recommend getting the headunit first and then seeing how it fits in the car before needing anything else (unless you dont have a double din already.)
- No issues at all with visibility at night or in the day
- I might be over excited but the camera looks better on this headunit
- Hotspot internet from my phone to the device and it's as if the unit has internet seamless
- Also support team is super helpful with any questions so definitely dont hesitate reaching out to them
Cons
- Not many really. At this point there might be 5% that might be good or bad but that's always related to Android experience
- Customization is there but i wish it was easier. I have spoken with support and they are looking to add something in the future
- Honestly I'm glad the unit doesn't need it but the Screen Protector could be better if you did install
One of the major gripes I have with units is install. That's 50% of it and needing this installed quickly I was super happy that the install was smooooth. Can i add more o's lol. The upgrade is worth it knowing that the unit will last and be current with all the features that you can want out of a unit. One of the benefits too that you'll find in good companies is that their support team is there to assist with any issues or questions you might have. Everything on the unit is crystal clear and being able to use 2 devices on bluetooth means thats i wont have to keep disconnecting and reconnecting based on whichever device connects. Google search and you can find the unit, I don't want to mention Seller companies
I also have this unit. It is a GREAT unit! I also have a NEX8200NEX in another car. Also, I previously had an Eonon. The ATOTO is by far the best of all of them and leaps and bounds over ANY Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood or other "standard" Android unit. My sole complaint with ATOTO is the size of the unit is just slightly off the standard double-din size. That being said, it will not fit any Metra install kit, which is the standard kit used when installing auto head units. Otherwise this unit should be respected over ALL the other Android head units: Joying and Pumpkin can't hold a candle!
How are the Bluetooth calls with this unit?
Is the WiFi good?
Are there software updates?
How is the Apple CarPlay working?
I like the idea of this unit, but to fit it in my car (Prius 3 from 2010) I will loose the side buttons I have with the current android unit which looks very good, but as almost all of them Bluetooth calls are horrible. Because of that I use CarPlay and forget about the unit functions.
WiFi is very weak and only usable with a phone as AP and very close AP.

Bluetooth is good, especially if you install the external mic, and increase the mic gain in settings from the somewhat low default.
WiFi is good as long as you choose a good mounting location for the antenna. I do most of my updates in my driveway which has three interior walls, one concrete block exterior wall, and about fifty feet between my car and my old Linksys N WiFi router. Best antenna location is under glass and away from metal, worst is inside pillars or under dash.
Firmware updates about every two months, give or take, in my 8 months of experience with Atoto units.

how do you increase the mic gain??
i'm new to the forum but have been lurking and reading up for quite a while on these android head units.
I need to replace the head unit in my 2009 Subaru Forester. I kind of a gadget freak, so these android units caught my eye. I was interested in the DSP units from androidautoshop.com but they warned me away from them and recommended their FX8 units (though they didn't really say why except that they were better quality).
The option I was looking at before the DSP unit was a new XTRONS unit which I could get from amazon. They seem to be well regarded from what I've read and the sound quality sounds like it's pretty good with the new amp chips they are using. Now just the other day I ran across a Dasaita unit on amazon that is specific fit for my vehicle so it wouldn't need an installation kit and BONUS has a 9" screen!
Does anyone have any insight on these units? If I go with an android unit it's going to be to satisfy my tech geek so I'm going to want to be able to customize it.
I need it to have good sound. Doesn't have to be audiophile quality, but good.
Decent to good FM reception.
good connection for Bluetooth (i've heard in particular that some of these units have both connection and sound quality issues with bluetooth)
ability to connect to an ODBII sensor for my car. One that I choose, not dictated to me by the head unit company prefereably.
ability to connect to an aftermarket rear view camera.
able to use Waze and Google maps. preferably with audible directions. also offline mapping for those occasions when I don't have a cell connection.
Ideally I would be connecting these direct to speakers, with the possiblity of adding external amplification down the road.
AndroidAutoShop.com FX8 - I have concerns about them and they don't really say much about why this unit is the best.
XTRONS - seems to be popular from what i've read, though i'm not sure about the bluetooth
Dasaita - love the look of the 9" screen with no ugly install kit. Quite a bit more expensive but possibly worth it? I just can't find much info about these. I think I read somewhere on this site that they were pretty good, but I don't know where and it wasn't about this specific unit.
I'm not allowed to post links to the 3 units above yet, but the first one is on androidautoshop and the last 2 are readily available on Amazon.
Are any of these a good choice for me? or possibly a different recommendation? or should I just forget it and go with a higher end Kenwood or Pioneer head unit with Android Auto and use an HDMI for any video needs? I'm not against tinkering and these seem like a really cool option (possibly saving money over traditional head untis as well) but I don't want to get a giant headache that just never works right.
any help from you guys is greatly appreciated.
