I recently rooted my phone and flashed custom kernel, I am afraid that it might prevent OTA updates. I need updates to use Gear VR.
So is there anyway to unroot it or get the stock kernel back ? I didnt backup BTW.
And also, the model number of my phone is G928W8 (Canadian), can I use the firmware of G928T (T-mobile), since they share the same kernel, so I think they can share the same firmware.
The only thing that I concern is the LTE band .
You need to find an firmware for your specific model, try it on Samsung page, then flash it with Odin, this should bring you back to stock, so you can take OTA
I don't know if T-mobile firmware will be compatible with yours, you may risk ant try it on, just have Canadian firmware handy and if something goes wrong put the phone in download mode, flash it with Odin and you are again on stock

Hi
Ive recently been gifted a T-mob samsung galaxy tab. I had a few questions about the same, would be very glad if someone could answer them for me
1) Is it possible to flash it with Indian/Asian firmware? I did some reading aand found out that flashing with euro firmware is possible, so this sould also be possible? If so, can someone point me as to where i might get more info on this?
2) Once flashed, and connected via Kies, if a new firmware of that region is released, would it automatically update to the new version or it will have to be done manually again?
3) Is it possible to flash back to original t-mob firmware should i need to avail warranty in the future?
you help is appreciated.

Flashing to Asian firmware is possible. I did it with Korean Firmware. However, it is useless in U.S. Market. If you are trying to flash it due to language, I would look for other solution rather than changing the whole rom.

Most likely it will need to be done manually.

Yes it is possible to flash back to T-mob firmware. Check Rotohammer's Roto backup process.
Hello XDA. I am going to unroot and return to stock firmware and recovery as i would like to update the phone through samsung kies. As i understand i need to update the boot loader and modem. I then plan to reroot and install ktoonz recovery and get a newer rom. I have an SM-g900w8 (telus) currently running x-note NE2 software version 3 i belive and ktoonz 08.04.2014 kernel with twrp 2.8.0.0. I rooted the phone 3 days after i got it and never took a samsung update. I am just curious as to weather i need to revert to stock recovery before i flash the stock firmware. I made a brick out of my S2X trying to revert to stock so i am a little gun shy. Also wondering if this whole coarse of action is advisable and worth the trouble. If there are any known issues with rooting and flashing after samsungs latest updates. Also if anyone can provide or point my toward the stock firmware for a telus sm-g900w8 that would be great as i cant seem to find a reasonable place to download it. i apologize for not doing more reading and research but i just spent 6 months away from home working so i am trying to catch up. Thanks again XDA any help info or criticisms are appreciated .
Hey guys,
I'm trying to revert back to the stock rom on my N910F (UK purchase - unlocked) but no matter which firmware I download via Sammobile, it just isn't working! It says "FAILED" on Odin when flashing. The only firmware that seems to work is N910FXXU1COH4_DevBase_alexndr - but this version has constant knox notifications and I'm giving my phone to a family member who doesn't want root or anything because she's not very good with phones, she also wants the stock rom installed only.
Can anybody advise me on where I'm going wrong or the firmware I need to install? Should I attempt 5.0 instead of 5.1? Thanks in advance!

Make absolutely sure you have the proper firmware, (correct country code) and so on..
Also..do you have a custom recovery installed.? IF so, you'll probably need to flash the stock recovery from the OS your needing to revert..after stock recovery is working, then flash the firmware..

Make shure to use the genuine USB cable and don't use USB 3 port
Greetings pals i have a really big question, i got a S7 Edge from AT&T (SM-G935A) but i cant update to nougat so i flash the unlocked (SM-G935U) firmware to get Nougat so i just wanna go back to AT&T but i cant via odin i downloaded a lot of firmwares labeled to 935A but when i try to flasg via odin it stucks at File analysis and thats it, also i tried with another (older) version of odin and it gives me a soft brick the main cause i want to go back to AT&T its because i want to try Oreo Beta but im stuck
Any help would be appreciated and if something its wrong with this let me know
So I have the SM-G935S south korean version and would like to get rid of all the bloat. Looking to move to stock SM-G935F or whatever. I am comfortable reading instructions and flashing, just confused as I understand you have to do something special with the files to move across regions.
I tried google but theres a lot of old misinformation about,
Can someone please confirm if it is possible to do what I am aiming to do and maybe point me to a tutorial.
Thanks.
bump
I have the same model 935s silver other option is to just wait for may 13 for the official update to come out.
U need to void knox to flash a different firmware than the south korean one.
Download odin on windows then put your phone into download mode.
Then put twrp 3.2.1.1 for Hero2Lte in the AP click the AP check box and flash.
Download a custom rom from the site, superman rom is the closest to stock firmware but its still on nougat fastest one in existence right now.
Once your in in TWRP flash the custom rom, they are zip files.
The author wont update anything until official oreo comes out for all phones not just the 935f.
Custom roms already have multiple countries phone networks selectable via CSC aroma aka checkboxes upon installing.
I flashed a custom rom on mine because the 935s has an obnoxious loud camera snapping noise. Just a heads up samsung pay won't work and knox won't work after flashing, but i doubt you use samsung pay in korean only.
