Layers theme stays after factory image flash - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was recently on chroma rom with a layers theme applied and I decided to go back to stock and it seems like the layers theme stayed through all the flashes.... I'm not complaining because I much prefer my theme then the stock theme but I'm just curious as to why it stuck

layers are stored in the vendor folder, did you flash vendor.img? i learned this after my layers stayed after i did a factory reset

Yeah, layers themes are stored in the vendor folder so you'd have to erase and flash the vendor.img. I had that happen to me as well and saw my google search and app draw were still dark themed. I used the flash-all command and everything was cleared and good to go after.. Just have to flash TWRP again..

Phone is not Wiping?

I'm CyanogenMOD BakedGoods 1.0.1
I themed it using Nextheme
I also added TrackballWake [v0.1] and TrackballSkip [v0.1]
Now..I wanted to do a fresh reinstall...and wiped everything from Recovery. After I flash BakedGoods again...and reboot. I still have the Nextheme and TrackballWake [v0.1] and TrackballSkip [v0.1] installed. Why is that?
Now I'm having problems logging into Google. It won't log In. Even when I switch to the regular CyanMod...I remember that his ROM didn't come with the Google Apps...but when I reboot...the Google Apps is still there.
I'm really confused! Why is my phone not being wiped properly?
Wipe data, wipe dalvik, reflash.
Yeah...I do that...but when I reflash...I still have the theme and addons.
Yeah I also have a feeling that wiping in recovery doesnt actually wipe everything.
As for getting the login to work, flash the gapps zip which is on the cyonogen page with his rom. Dont do any wipes just flash the gapps zip which is file gapps-passion-ERE36B-2-signed.zip to be exact and it will let you login with google. I had the same problem after flashing cynogen rom coming from Desire rom.

O...I...C. Thanks! I thought that my N1 was starting to break...because I've been like flashing like crazy this past 2 weeks.
So anybody else have any ideas as to why the N1 is remembering what addons I've flashed? I've even done a Factory Reset from Settings...then went straight into HBOOT and use the Clear Storage before going into Recovery.
I would then wipe again in Recovery and then flash. Doing so actually got me a little further. It got rid of the theme colors but the theme icons were still showing up and also the trackball mod.
I **think** that some of the "themes" out there are basically modded ROMs as opposed to small theme files -- that may be completely wrong. Anyway, if they are modded roms, then wiping will not delete the ROM files (system files, inlcuding any icons).
Now, maybe this baked goods had those apps you mentioned in them.
If you really want to WIPE, and make it a definite that all the roms you've flashed are GONE, then WIPE --> flash stock rom --> reboot --> flash any custom rom
This may be the long approach, as you probably only need to wipe then flash any custom rom

HDR+ mode is gone

TL;DR: HDR+ mode is gone, except on stock factory image. Any solutions?
Guys, I really need some help with this one.
I love my 6P and it's camera, especially the HDR+ mode.
Until some time ago it worked fine but at some point, HDR+ jsut vanished from the camera. I tried out different ROMs but that that didn't solve the problem.
I flashed the factory image via fastboot and yes, HDR+ is back!
One problem, stock android doesn't have much features, so I flashed Pure Nexus.
And HDR+ is gone again...
I really can't figure this one out, and I'm at the point of giving up, I'm losing sleep and need my phone to be working before I go on vacation.
Can anyone help my with this one?
As far as I know I flashed everything correctly, and even started from scratch by flashing the factory image.
1. Flashed factory image with the flash-all.bat
2. Flashed TWRP 3.0.2.0
3. Reboot into recovery and Format Data to remove encryption
4. Mount in TWRP and place PureNexus, PureNexusGApps, and the MTC19V vendor.img
5. Flash the ROM, then Gapps, then Vendor to the vendor partition
6. Reboot system, rom boots up without problems, I set up me e-mail and fingerprint.
7. I open the camera app and HDR+ isn't there.
Anyone?

Custom Roms include the open source versions of the camera app. To use google camera which has HDR+ mode available, do the following:
1.) Open Google playstore and open the hamburger menu.
2.) Press "My Apps and Games"
3.) On the resulting page select the "All" tab then find and download google camera.
You will likely have to do the steps mentioned above as google camera will not appear when you search for it within playstore. Another method you can try would be to download a full gapps package which includes google camera, though I'ver never tried that.
Just download and install Google camera from apkmirror and you'll be fine.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
The problem is that no matter what camera app I try, the HDR+ toggle is not there, I'll try to start from scratch again and see if the issue is still there.
Update: HDR+ is now working again
Possible solution for people with this problem
Yesterday after flashing Factory Images via fastboot and flashing TWRP, I booted in TWRP and did Format Data.
Today I reflashed the Factory Images, reflashed TWRP, but this time did "fastboot format userdata" and then did a data, system, cache/dalvik cache wipe in TWRP.
I reflashed Pure Nexus and so far everything seems to be working as should, and HDR+ is available and working.
The issue started when returning from N Preview to M, I might have messed up something there.
Thanks for the input guys, seems like it was my own fault, and me being in a hurry didn't do any good.

Flashing a Custom ROM gets me stuck on the Google Logo screen

So my title wouldve been longer if I could have allowed it but basically this is what happened
I tried to flash the latest ParanoidAndroid but it got stuck on the boot logo for about 45 minutes. Probably because I was on f2fs and forgot to flash a kernel.
After getting a red font message in TWRP saying /system could not be mounted/found, I did a full format of my phone and flashed a different custom ROM, which got me stuck at the white font screen that just says Google and shows the unlock symbol on the b ottom.
Using the toolkit I flashed stock which worked, as well as manually flashing TWRP through fastboot.
I then did a full wipe like normal when switching ROMs and tried to flash Nitrogen ROM which once again lead me to the white font Google screen.
What should I do exactly so I can flash a custom ROM again, because currently the only thing that is working is stock ROM.

I'd suggest trying to format data, in Twrp in the wipe section should be a button on the bottom end that says Format data, Erase it Flash all from a stock image and reinstall twrp.

Are you referring to the same format data that makes you type in "yes" before doing it? I did that too but I didnt try to re-install TWRP.
And currently after the wipe im on stock recovery so I'm going to go back to The Flashs TWRP that he made as opposed to the latest version of TWRP that prompts for an app install at the end. As I never had this issue on Flashs TWRP
Thanks for the suggestion.

Ok installing the TWRP after a format didnt do **** unfortunately. Still bootlooping.
Flash stock image via fastboot with flash all, check OEM unlock to dev options, lock and unlock the bootloader to completely wipe your phone. Don't forget checking dev options for OEM unlock between lock and unlocking. flash latest official twrp and try custom rom again.

How to solve bootloop after uninstalling substratum theme

As few themes work on MiA1 and after unistalling them we get bootloop with Android One screen.........
So dirty flash doesn't work nor the fastboot without clean all.....so the only solution left is either Clean all or
Go to the substratum folder through TWRP recovery and find the SubstratumRescue.zip and SubstratumRescue_Legacy.zip?
Flash them through TWRP and you will be able to boot t your screen.
