Hello all,
Just moved from KK to rooted LP OG5. When I was on KK, I never took GMail update and really liked how it looked. But the one that comes with LP (bright orangish borders, hard to read font if message has been read) is terrible. Phone is rooted but running stock-ish ROM. Any way to change colors? Or bring back an older GMail version? Hate to go back to my SS KK backup as I like some of the new features but Gmail's colors are really annoying. I found the 'reverse color' feature. That sucks too.
BTW, I also read there was a way for color blind people to make color changes but cannot find it under Setings, Accessibility. Did VZN remove these from their ROM?
Thanks

As a matter of preference, I set the DPI of my nexus 7 to 320, by changing buildprop ro.sf.lcd_density. This sets all applications to run in an enlarged cell phone mode. I love the way everything looks, and while I know most people wouldn't agree, it's perfect for me. However, doing this added the camera to the lockscreen as well, and I can't get rid of it. I'm running Lockscreen Policy, which allows me to remove widgets, but because the device is a Nexus 7, it won't allow me to disable the lockscreen camera (probably because it's not supposed to be there).
An interesting problem, with hopefully a simple solution. Thanks in advance, and thanks for all the help this community has already given me.
fyi, I am using stock rooted 4.2.1, stock kernel. I'd really like to be able to revert the lockscreen back to the way it was in 4.1, but I don't see that happening without flashing a ROM, which I don't want to do.
Hi there,
Seeking some advice on a ROM. Hate the look of stock LG G2, just installed stock-like kitkat on my old GNex and saw the google experience launcher with transparent everything, DO WANT. However I'm afraid of losing some features of stock LG software. Maybe you guys can recommend some ROMs, or if it's best to stay stock to get all the features I want, recommend some mods that will give me all the ROM features I want?
Things I NEED
Knock On/ Knock Off (LG feature)
4.4 Stock "Look and Feel" (fonts, transparent bars all around, appearance of time and battery and notifications bar, black instead of white setting menu, etc, you get the picture)
Always listening on the home screen, possibly the lock-screen, pretty much anywhere I can have it all over the UI (as per 4.4, not LG)
Recent Apps button instead of a menu button (as per 4.4, not LG)
Open apps from the lockscreen with apps icons already visible when looking at lockscreen (not the style where you hold finger over lock icon to see a choice of apps in a circle, and then have to swipe a specific direction. I used to have that and didnt like it as much as I like LG stock way of actually showing icons without you touching anything, and you swipe the icons, not a lock towards the icons)
Circle battery type thing on status bar that shows percentage
Things I haven't tried/am not sure about but might want from stock LG software, and might not want to lose flashing to custom ROM
Better stock camera?
SmartShare from the gallery app? (says it uses wifi/bluetooth to stream content to other devices)
Beam/DNLA/I don't even remember what it's called or what app I found it in?
Quickremote
You tell me please? I'm sure there's a bunch of stuff I've yet to discover that I might want (are any of LG's apps e.g. notebook useful?)
Things that are cool but not really necessary
Themes and a ton of extra features -- used to use AOKP and they had a decent amount of extra feature, not too few like CM, not too many like other ROMs where my head just starts spinning from all the features
Other
I'd really prefer not to have to wipe all the time, CM's OTA update feature was awesssooome when I had CM on my GNex, but CM is a little feature-lite for me, I mean it was good though, that's just a minor complaint. But if there's something better fitting my criteria above I'll put up with having to wipe to flash updates of the same ROM in the future if its necessary. I just never understood why OEMs can push OTAs to people and never make them wipe, but for custom ROMs (updating new versions of same ROM) I have to re-set-up everything every time
A lot of this stuff has been addressed already. Most ROMs have knock on built in, but not knock off. The work around is downloading an app that turns the screen off, and using a gesture control in another app (such as Nova Launcher) to double tap the home screen to turn the screen off. Though personally, I just have screen off set to my nav ring so I can access it from any page I'm on.
There's a flashable install here on the forums some where for Quick Remote. Works fine on AOSP ROMs.
As for 4.4 stuff, I have no idea.

How did you do that? I nowhere find a setting to change anything in the navigation ring.

Handset; SGNIII
Model; SM-N9005
ROM; Stock N9005XXUENE3
Ver; 4.4.2
So the first thing is the notification font size.
I don't know why, but it's huge.
Edited density in buildprop, no change.
I installed a 3rd party app to modify.
It did the job everywhere else, except notifications.
Also sub text in settings is a bit bigger than regular.
This is all clear in the screens attached.
Q; How do I modify the notification font.
Q; How do I specifically modify the grey settings sub text.
Along the way, I've somehow acquired an S5 style settings UI.
My NIII settings - while ugly - contain my stylus settings.
Now I have none.
The S5 mod shown in screens isn't enabled.
It's also only for quick settings and recents.
I haven't made any other systemUI changes besides colour theme.
How is this possible.

If I wanted my ROM to look stock, I wouldn't have half a dozen mods installed to modify it's appearance, would I.
And FYI, "reflash stock" is not a blanket answer for every time you otherwise have none, you simply just don't reply at all.
Can anyone else who actually has a clue point me in the right direction to reduce the font density in notification text and the grey settings sub text?

The sizes don't look so bad - pretty normal I thought. You could try installing textdroider-dpi and see if that helps. Other than that, I'd back up all my data and do a factory reset - should get rid of the S5 theme issue.
@Wobzy try to adjust dpi for systemui using app setting and restart phone.
Good day guys,
I am a noob.. sorry if i could not explain my problem well.
I have Note 4 (N910C)
I rooted my phone.. and followed these steps to get Galaxy S6 themes, check the link below
http://getgoogles.blogspot.in/2015/03/how-to-install-galaxy-s6-themes-on.html?m=1
Everything worked perfectly.. however, after applying the theme, when i go to ( settings, call log, and messages) they are still touchwiz shape.. they did not change to the theme shape..
In galaxy s6, when i apply the iron man theme for example, every tiny part of the phone changes to the theme shape including the call log and settings and messages.. but in my Note 4, these did not change.. they stayed on their touchwiz shape
Is there anything i can do to fix this??
Thank you so much
I have a similar problem. My phone just updated to the Marshmallow version, which introduced the new Marshmallow default theme, but left some of the previous 'Pisces' theme icons unchanged! I then installed a new theme, which did NOT change the icons (which were still part Marshmallow default, part 'Pisces'), and, on top of it, resulted in a big black space down one side of the screen (as if that theme was not correctly sized). Restarting the phone or deleting any/all themes did not help. I'm livid as the display is now a complete mess. Can anyone help with this please?
I'm one of those lucky people who gets chronic migraines. The primary trigger for me is bright light... especially looking at bright, white screens with black text. Consequently, I've spent quite a bit of time trying to invert screen color... which is fine unless you are looking at pictures or video.
I know that I can change my Note 4 settings to invert the colors, but that simply isn't practical. I've been able to get some of the modifications I need by swapping out applications. For instance, I use Chomp SMS and have found a great plug-in for firefox that inverts the color without inverting the images. I've also been able to make some system mods through Xposed using Wanam's module. But these are only bandaids. I'm really looking for something that will work system-wide, for light text and dark background.
My phone is a Sprint Galaxy Note 4 running Lollipop 5.1.1. Does anyone have any suggestions? Would upgrading to Marshmallow help? Or how about changing out the ROM?
If nothing that would work systemwide, does anyone have a suggestion for an email app that will invert the text color? The stock Samsung email app is really tough for me.
Any help will be much appreciated.
