In Wear 1.3.x, all notifications(which have no LOCAL_ONLY|ON_GOING...flags) in smartphone is sent to smartwatch immediately.
But I realized that, after wear 1.4, only some notifications(maybe vib. notification) are sent to watch immediately, and
the others are sent in piggyback fashion when vib. notification or notification remove or any synchronization happend.
Is it right? or only my problems?
It's seem very important changes but I can't find the details.
I'm using a LG Watch Urbane, Nexus 5.1
and tested on Wear 1.3.0.2369832(10/28), 1.4.0.2392391(11/07), 1.4.0.2462440.(12/04) in same environments.
Wear 1.3.X
notification w/o vib : immediately, dim screen
vib{0,0} : immediately, dim screen
vib{0,1} : immediately, screen on, vib
Wear 1.4.X
notification w/o vib : piggyback
vib{0,0} : immediately, dim screen
vib{0,1} : immediately, screen on, vib
you can test any notification test app.
(play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sloy.jbnotif
apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-wear/
'adb install -r -d wear.xxx.apk' make no need to re-paring with watch or factory reset)
Make any 3 notification will not be popped in watch after Wear 1.4.
In short, if you make any notifications without vib., it may not notified to watch on time after Wear 1.4.
Thank you.

So, I have a Behold II and noticed this damn thing doesn't have a notification LED. So i was wondering.... can someone make the following app:
When you receive a text, there is no LED to show you got one, so you constantly need to look at your phone...
If someone can make an app where when you receive a text... your screen slowly glows? that would be pretty neet. Let me know if theoretically this is possible.
Imagine, phone on your desk, you get up, come back and its slowly fading on and off... (i know this will be a battery killer).
Handcent sms has a funtion that turns your phone on when you get a text...
The problem with that is that it might turn on the screen momentarily but then it'll auto sleep again in a minute or less. I want to know if someone can make something where when we get a text, the screen just faintly "glows" white.... a slow fade in and out until you grab your phone.
Ideas would be:
- Make the screen fade in and out slowly (a faint glow, almost like the Flashlight App, but faint... not BAM LIGHT lol)
- Make a settings to be able to choose the color you want
- Make a setting to pick the time of day you don't want it to glow (save battery). So if I set "no glow" from 12AM - 8AM and i get a text at 3AM my phone won't glow cause it'll glow all morning till i wake up and drain all battery.
Any ideas?
If you make the screen glow until you grab your phone, this would kill the battery. Just imagine receiving a text at 1 am while u r sleeping, when you wake up your battery would be unecessarily used up.

thats why i wrote one of the settings for time frame... a "NO GLOW" time...
so you can set NO GLOW from 12AM - 8AM (while you're sleeping) and if you get a text nothing happens... It only works at the hours you choose.
Sounds like a cool app and for those that have hearing problems kinda even more important
In case this never materializes you could turn the notification reminders on so it could beep or vibrate after the initial notification

Thats how I have it now but it only vibrates once every so often... I could use more of a visual notification specially while at work... phone goes on the desk and I don't always feel the vibration
So my moto display will constantly light up every other second when I have notification such as E-mail etc. I feel like that kills a lot of battery when I just put it on the table. Is there are way to change the setting or something so it only light up for once or twice. I can always reach to the phone to check the notification so there is no need for notification always light up. Also, I found out that if I block the IR blaster it will not light up anymore but as soon as I remove the cover it will constantly light up again. I think constantly light up screen really burn down a lot of battery.
It doesn't use as much as you'd think. Moto Display (formerly Active Display on Moto X 2013) only lights the pixels that you can see. The rest of the screen is off.
With the Moto X, the display "breathes" when there are notifications pending. It flashes every 2-3 seconds, but does flash slower if left alone for a while. Placing the phone face down turns it off. You can also define quiet hours that disable the Active Display completely. Lastly, you can turn it on or off for specific apps that you don't want to trigger the notifications. For example, you may want your Gmail and text messages, but not Twitter. You can also dismiss the notifications by swiping left/right when selecting them (not certain if that is still true for Turbo as it has multiple notifications whereas the Moto X 2013 only shows one at a time).
I don't know of any way to turn it off after some amount of time, it's either on or off, but you can change the apps that are included. And as I said, it does blink slower (more time between blinks) if you don't touch the phone for a while.
Ok thanks that really helps... I just hope they can add a setting so it won't always light up. I'm also wondering if battery consumption by moto display count as part of the cell standby because it is still quite high compare to other smartphone I had used before.

The Moto Display battery usage falls under the "Android System" app in the battery stats. You can confirm it in by opening the app in the battery stats and observing the "Active Display System Process" listed.
You can turn off moto display...or you can swipe the notification to the right or left to "dismiss it" without opening the phone...or you can leave the phone face down on the table
I am unsure if I will buy this device.
Someone who has moto maxx can download an application from the notification screen and test if it works well?
These applications promise to pick a different light for each application notification screen on moto maxx. (Since he does not have conventional LED)
I will be very grateful if someone could do this to me
I think Moto should definitely change the Moto Display behavior so that it uses the front sensors instead of the gyro (movement) when there is no current notification. This would allow you to wave for the time and it would be displayed when you pulled it out of your pocket, but it would not be shown by bumps in the road or other movement. If there is a notification waiting the behavior should stay the same because it is up to the user to acknowledge/dismiss it.

On the Moto X 2013 at least, it doesn't turn on every time it moves. If you're holding it in your hand and walking, it doesn't just stay on all the time. Once you set it down on the table and let it sit for a moment, then touch it again, it lights up.
I usually leave mine sitting on my desk at work and if there are no notifications pending (to make it breathe), I just touch it so it rolls slightly on the curved back and it shows me the time.
Pretty often, the clock jumps to the next minute, when I turn the wrist or tap the screen (display switches from dimmed to bright mode).
In reality, the new minute should have been displayed some seconds earlier. So in practice, the clock is often a little late.
If I choose a watch face with seconds, I can see this even better, because for example, in dimmed mode it shows 2:00, then I turn the wrist and it suddenly shows 2:01:20.
Sometimes, it even jumps 2 minutes when I activate the display.
So, screen refresh on change of minute does not always work.
I have already uninstalled all non-Google apps with Wear components and I did a factory reset on the watch.
Anyone else with this kind of problem? Is there any fix for that? Or is the hardware of mine not OK?
Thanks!
It seems to happen less often with Android Wear 5.0.1, but still happens.
I have noticed, it happens with standard watch faces and Facer watch faces sometimes. But it happens very often with WatchMaker watch faces.
Ugh
I had this issue on my LG G2 where, randomly, the green LED status light would start flashing like there is a notification, when there is none. This is related to the Alarm. I posted this over in the G2 forums and I will post it here.
How to fix:
Clear all Notifications
Turn off Screen
(wait for notification light to blink) [confirm]
Turn on Screen
Go to Clock, disable Alarm
Double tap Status bar / Turn off Screen
(wait for notification light to NOT blink) [confirm] [fix]
Turn on screen and enable your Alarm.
The LED light should no longer blink for no reason.
Really kind of disappointed in the G4 software wise. On my G2, this issue and the lagging/FCing keyboard was huge issues that made me want to upgrade to the G4. Sad to say that even the newer software and newer hardware, these bugs are still present.
Thanks for this I'm sure it will help a few people out there.

The only issue I've had regading the blinking lights was if I swiped away a notification from the lock screen and locked it again, it would blink until I pulled down on notification bar. Same thing?
Sent from my G4 using your mom
Nope. It randomly just starts flashing. I do turn off notifications from facebook and XDA via android system....
Happened twice tonight already since 5pm. During the day I am hammered with work emails, gmails, text, and hangouts so I dont notice it much. But a night when its flashing but there are no notifications, i have to disable the alarm amd reenable to fix it.
Same with my old G2.
Maybe the disabled notifications are turning on the LED notification but android is hiding the actual notifications. I will try reenabling them and disabling them via the apps.
Update:
Clearing those apps in the Sounds and Notification settings menu per app page, did turn the light off. So maybe that is the bug.
It started on my G2 when lollipop update came out. It is easier to disable app notifications this way as they come in by holding the noification and disabling it on the andoid side. I'll report back if thats it.
Big problem with led notification
This is the biggest problem in my g4, at least for me.
But i didn't understand what is the connection to alarm? I don't use alarm and still have this stupid bug : (
Well the alarm toggle is just a quick way to turn it off.
I do think the connection as been found with the Android notification hiding. I havent had the problem reoccur since I "allow all notifications" in the android settings... then turn off notifications within the apps directly.
It seems Androids "hide notifications" isn't doing a great job. It keeps the popups hidden, but still turns the lights on.
Turning off notifications within the Apps may also save battery since the App is still basically polling for updates on the network side, just being blocked from displaying them.
I am still testing but I think I nailed it.
Let's be clear.
My problem is not that the LED blinks without any notification.
My problem is that although i read my notification and now have no more any new notification - the led still blinking and i can't stop it.
Thats the same thing
*same issue i had
Scenerio:
Grab my phone and light is flashing. Check notifications. Clear them. Put phone down. See it blinking still. Pick it up. No notifications. No way to turn it off.
Update: Still getting random LED notification lights. Typically happens in the evening. Very weird
Me too
I even think to turn off the led light.
Anyway it's doesn't show the real notification.
Btw, is it problem with LG or with lollipop??
Tnx
I like using timely alarm from the play store. Never had that issue.
It has nothing to do with the alarm, it is just a quick way to fix the issue.
Question: Do you use stock SMS or 3rd party? I use Hello SMS.
Ok, maybe there is connection between the alarm and the led notification, because the bug happen to me usually after i use alarm in the morning (alarm clock extreme free from play store).
When i press i VIBRTATE and back to normal ringing it's usually stop the led blinking
I use stock alarm. But my alarm is only set Mon-Fri yet it happens randomly on sat and sun. It seems to clear itself after a while too...sometimes.
everyone who have this issue -
1. do u use what'sapp?
2. in which color your LED blinking (without notification)? it it your color alert you choose for what'sapp?
I dont use WhatsApp. My notification like is green. Only seems to do this at night but I get slammed with emails (corporate phone) and may not notice it during the day.
The only app I use that is not "common" that has notifications is Hello SMS. Otherwise I use messanger, facebook, xda, gmail, stock email, stock alarm.
Anyone use an alternative sms app with this problem?
It also appears to go away eventually after more texting/emails.
Usually (!) it's happen to me when i use whatsapp:
When i got picture in whatsapp or if i got both 2 messages in whatsapp - the led keeps blinking.
Sometimes it's happening to me when i use alarm clock free from Google play but now delete this.
What weird is that not of the users have this issues.
Tomorrow i gonna go to the store i bought the device and try to talk with them.
Maybe have the opportunity replace the the LED on the brighter?
Any people have this issue??
I know 4-5 people that have this issue.
PLEASE TEST
this isuue happen to me when i got picture in what'sapp (and in more cases).
can someone try to get a picture in what'sapp on his own device?
remember- after i got picture in whatsapp i turn on the device, saw the picture and turn off the device - but the led keeps blinking.
please if anyone can make a test on his own device- it will help me!!
tnx!
Does anyone else has a problem with ambient always on display not working? Most of the time it is there, but even if I turn off the Scheduler, sometimes off for hours, just the black screen. 10.3.10 MIUI
Yes, the same issue for me. Little annoying, but I hope it will be fixed in the next update. Maybe I will for now just turn off the always-on display.
You should read the description
Could you be more specific please?
"To reduce power consumption, items won't be displayed in the following situations:
1. When your device lies in dark for a long time.
2. When DND mode is on"
Haha, didn't saw that, but still, my room wasn't dark at all and it still went off. For now I have just disabled that option, and if that is only big bug I will be super happy.
