Hey folks.
Not actually an x10 user myself, but someone I know with an x10 is having an issue.
he bought an unlocked x10 from europe, and has been using it with Rogers for a long time now.
After running the gingerbread update, he's lost the ability to connect to the towers. The APN settings have disappeared, I restored them, but he's still unable to connect. Tried manually selecting a network. On WCDMA only, nothing shows up. On GSM/WCDMA mode, the only option is 2G (Yes, there is good 3G service in the area). If I try and connect to 2G, it tries to register, then returns an error saying the SIM does not allow connections to this network. I tried with both my SIM and his, same result.
I did a quick check, and I see the x10 european model supports 900/1700/2100, but it obviously also supports 850/1900 considering he was connecting before the update.
My question, has the update changed the radio making the phone unable to recognize the 850/1900 HSPA bands? If so, is there a way to go back to Froyo without rooting/flashing a custom ROM?
Thanks for your help
crap, sorry, please move to Q&A. I thought I clicked QA, my apologies.
It doesn't also sorry the other bands, that's impossible.
The radio hardware is different.

hmm.. unless he's been on only 2G the entire time?
Still doesn't explain why he's unable to connect to 2G at the present though...
download flashtool 3 and then find an tft file for the firmware you want, this will wipe the phone

thanks, I'll pass that along.
Does it require root/unlocked boot?
nope because you are only puting back on original Firmware, also just try SEUS to factory reset phone and reinstall firmware should kick it in to gear
Before upgrading to lollipop, I used to use *#*#4636#*#* code, for selecting GSM/WCDMA/LTE manually. I upgraded it to lollipop last night, but the code does not work now.
Does every body have any experience? Is there any replaced code or app?
I didn't have GSM/WCDMA/LTE in network mode on kitkat so i used an app called 4G LTE Switch which does what the *#*#4636#*#* code does.
But after the lollipop update I got GSM/WCDMA/LTE in mobile network menu so I don't need it anymore.
You should check to see if you now have the setting available,if not try that app or some other apps that do the same thing.

Yeap, I checked it; unfortunately the upgraded ROM does not have GSM/WCDMA/LTE to select. Thus i need to use *#*#4636#*#* again

Hey buddy, thank you, it works
Hello everyone. I'm having a problem with my network after going into the test menu (*#*#4636#*#*):crying:. I'm hoping someone can help me out.
My Phone:
I have a stock Nexus 6p not rooted.
The Problem Cause:
After going into the test menu (*#*#4636#*#*). I pressed the menu button (...) and pressed the "Set GSM/UMTS Band" button. My three options were "USA Band", "Band 6" and "Band 7", decided to select "USA Band".
The Problem effect:
Since I did that, I can't make or receive phone calls. My phone won't ring (though it "rings" for the person trying to call me and they get to my voicemail). If I try to call someone else, it hangs perpetually at "dialing".
Soulution I have try:
1-Setting the bands and switch between USA,6,7 but nothing changed.
2-Doing soft/hard factory reset but also nothing changed.
Any ideas how to fix this problem?!

Same problem
I'm having the exact same problem. I couldn't make or receive calls out of the box. When I fiddled with the test menu, I was able to at least get it to where I could place calls but I still cannot receive them. I'm not sure what I did at this point. Verizon support and Huawei support have been useless. I tried to factory reset and that did not help.

What carrier are you with? I did the same thing but I managed to get my phone working again.
why did you mess with these settings if you don't know EXACTLY what you're doing? very big mistake. there some settings you should never fiddle with unless you're dead certain
best best now, imo, if the factory image doesnt fix it... unlock your bootloader and install a ROM that has an expanded set of radio bands... I know some ROMs have it, but not sure which ones.
Yes use Chroma it has more bands to choose from. I think someone needs to create a sticky not to mess with those settings.
I only messed with the settings because I was already not able to make or receive phone calls. Messing with the settings allowed me to at least call out now.

Flash the factory image. That way you know for sure you are as stock as could be. Then if the problem persists exchange the device because its faulty. You shouldn't have to mess with any settings to make calls. Other than maybe a borked APN setting.

Yep! Flashing the Chroma ROM did it! It's all back to normal now. Thank you scoobysnack soooooooooo much for your help!
what I did are;
1. Hard reset
2. Unlock bootloader
3. Install TWRP
4. Root
5. Install custom firmwares
6. Revert back to stock firmware
7. Install different 'radio' images
8. Install different stock firmwares
Unfortunately, none gave me a positive outcome.
Last Hope Was:
I flashed Chroma, a lightweight AOSP ROM focused on battery, performance and stability.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...-chroma-11-08-2015-lockscreen-navbar-t3244444...
The following link is for Chroma download and installation instruction:
http://nexus6proot.com/nexus-6p-custom-roms/chroma-rom-for-nexus-6p-android-6-0-1/2/
This custom ROM for Huawei Nexus 6P was first recommended by a scoobysnack. It works with a proper selection of bands according to your country.
On the dialer, use this codes *#*#4636#*#*
Selection for different bands would then available.

I'm glad you figured it out. However, If you tried the factory image and it didn't work, that's a problem! You should have had cellular service right out of the box and definitely after you flashed the factory image. Unless you did not actually try the factory image itself. Can you clarify. Because if that's the case you have a defective unit and it will be an issue when you need to actually restore your device some day. Also don't want people to get the idea that a factory image is not a fix for this.

Flashing the factory image does not work. I messed with my phone for 4 hours trying to get of to work again. I was originally on chroma when I screwed my bands up. That's how I knew about the other bands. I believe it only fixes international phones . I'm in the US on VZW and flashed factory image and had to select band 6. So depending on where you are depends on what method you have to use to correct the problem. And yes a sticky and FAQ should be made as a lot of people seen to have this problem.

The images work on either variant. It confuses me why a factory image would not fix it but I'm sure there is a reason. Its new to me though. What's weird is I am on Verizon in the US as well. Works right out of the box for me and any issues that I have come across have been fixed by a factory image. I wonder if people having problems on Verizon are having issues due to network and sim card provisioning issues and by switching bands you are fixing it but you are not on the normal bands maybe. I know some people on Verizon had to call and tell them to activate LTE on their line even though they were supposed to be getting it. And that fixed the no service.

I guess the reason why a factory image did not fix the problem is because my phone version is US not International. And I am now not from US, originally from Middle East. So there is no compatibility between US and the international bands. The only choices I had from the Bands are USA Band, 6 and 7. I am guessing that the International version has more options and compatible with variant bands.
guys. try to install chroma rom , it has several different bands. just to get it working . then return back to stock if you want i had the same issue and i had data working and sms without calls until a guy helped me ( im very grateful for him ). i hope it works. please let me know

Hi guys,
Was able to get a LS997 in Canada. Carrier used is Fido.
Bootloader was unlocked using Dirty Santa.
When using stock based (sprint) rom, I always get an invalid sim error. This causes the phone/cell data not to work.
When using a lineage based rom, sim works perfectly and I get LTE data.
Is this behaviour normal?
Is there a way to make a non-sprint sim work on a stock rom?
Thanks
Update: Tried the WETA US996 rom on the device. Sim is recognized (since its the unlocked version), but LTE only works if I go in Network Mode, disable Global , enable LTE/GSM/UMTS, then set submode to "GSM/GPRS/EDGE only" or "UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ Only" , then set it to "LTE/LEgacy 3GPP Multi".
This is a PITA since every time the connection is lost, these steps have to be repeated to get LTE data.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
I am running stock based rom to get the camera app and use the top screen.
Thanks

TWRP is already installed and the roms used are rooted. I looked but am unable to find radios/modem for the ls997.
If running AOSP based roms I have no problems getting LTE to work.
Aren't the radio/modem separate from the roms themselves, or are they included with could be the reason it glitches like that?
the phone itself is not carrier unlocked thats why you get invalid sim. when you use lineage roms they dont check if phone is carrier unlocked

Thanks, that's what I thought!
Looking at the LTE specs for both phones:
LS997 : LTE band 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 12(700), 25(1900), 26(850), 41(2500)
US996: LTE band 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 12(700), 13(700), 17(700), 20(800), 25(1900)
Source: http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_v20-8238.php
Fido requires 700 MHz on Band 17, 1700/2100 MHz on Band 4, 2600 MHz on Band 7
Source: http://www.fido.ca/consumer/content/configure-unlocked-device-guide
Bands 4 and 7 are a perfect match, and band 17(700) is a subset of band 12(700), so the LS997 should be 100% compatible.

Edited my post above.
APN is properly set automatically on phone. As stated in the first (ERROR: second!) post, I can get LTE working, but need to set GSM/UMTS first then switch to LTE manually, and once the connection is dropped, this procedure has to be done again.
looked at the APN settings, they are the same as described by carrier.....anyone has an idea?

like me2151 said, flash the us996 based rom. Its the unlocked version that will allow sim cards from other carriers to be used.
The ls997 roms are cdma based roms that dont use the sim card for anything but lte and is a locked slot unless device is uicc unlocked by the carrier.
There isnt a method currently to uicc unlock this device without the carrier sending the code to the device.

Hello,
I am currently on WETA US996, but as described in the second post, I cannot get LTE to work without disabling it first, switching to GSM/UMTS, then activating LTE.
Once I switch over to Wifi for a period of time, then switch back to cellular data (example: leaving the house), I lose all data and have to disable LTE again, enable GSM/UMTS, then reactivate LTE to get LTE data.

have you tried a dif option such as global? or WGSM Etc? You may need to select a dif option.
@ME2515 also gave the idea to edit your apns master file in system, so its always holding the apns for your carrier, in theory it would force the device to keep the settings as they become the "default" all the time, vs the devices default auto setting for example.

Hello,
As explained in previous posts, the APNs are properly configured as per Fido settings automatically on the device. I triple checked to make sure all entries were correct.
LTE does work, but only going through the following steps: Go in Network Mode, disable Global , enable LTE/GSM/UMTS, then set submode to "GSM/GPRS/EDGE only" or "UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ Only" , wait for a data connection, then change it to "LTE/LEgacy 3GPP Multi". Only then will LTE work, and once I switch to wifi, it won't get any LTE data when I disconnect from Wifi unless I go through that procedure again.
Am I really the only one with this problem?
Triple checked APN, it is correct. It's fetched autmatically from Fido when I connect to the network. Still no LTE unless I do the procedure above.
Reply in case someone encounters this issue. The APN setting for LTE was the culprit. I setup the APN as it it weren't an LTE device following the fido directives (using Fido-core-appl1.apn instead of LTEMOBILE.APN) and now get LTE connection when network is set to global.

Hi.
I commented that I have a strange problem with my S7 Edge G935A, I have inserted 2 different SIMs, one uses the 900 band and the other uses 1900, the first only increases 2G and according to the characteristics of the G935A it says that it has the 900 band in 3G and 2G but I do not know why he only grabs 2G. And the other one only uses data, I can not make calls or send messages, I only use data and I surf the Internet, I attach the capture.
Hope someone can help me.
Note: I am stuck on the Android 6.0.1 version with the Security check May 1, 2016, Baseband: G935AUCS2APE1. And I never received the notification to update Nougat.

possibly, download smartswitch hook your phone up and see if smartswitch can find an update for your phone, otherwise you need to download the firmware manually from one of the forum posts here and then odin flash it to your device (make sure to back up your phone as it will delete everything)
