So I recently decided to flash back to stock. I did so via Odin and the firmware of Sammobile. Everything worked until I booted my phone up and it asked me for a pattern, which I never set. I tried different stock firmwares and always had the same issue. Since I still have a nandroid backup of my stock firmware I decided to restore that, again with the same issue.
Since the patterns background is all grey, I believe it has something to do with encrypting the phone, because it is not showing the usual Samsung pattern. I did encrypt the device a couple month ago but went back to a non-encrypted phone soon after.
I couln't find a thread or anything else online so I decided to post here.
Hi ^_^
1 ) Could you tell me the steps of Using Reset !?
2 ) what kind of Encryption you used to do with your phone ?

Hi ^_^
1 ) Could you tell me the steps of Using Reset !?
2 ) what kind of Encryption you used to do with your phone ?
Well first I followed the Sammobile instructions:
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.10.7
Extract Odin ZIP file
Open Odin v3.10.7
Reboot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait few minutes
Click to collapse
The encryption I used was included in CM12.1. But I wasn't happy with it and there was no way to remove it within CM12.1 so I formatted my data und basically reinstalled everything. Maybe this didn't get rid of the encryption all the way?
I just used the stock recovery and did a factory/data reset and it finally worked! I don't know why it didn't work when I wiped with TWRP but I got it now. Thanks anyways eaglef19.

Evening all, really looking for advice here. Lets start of with some that will probably anger the majority of you, I am a Newbie.
I have a Samsung S4 GT-I9505 on Vodaphone.
A few days ago after days of ready I decided to root the phone and install PhilZ Recovery. That all went well
I then decided to install the Omega V13 Rom and this is where the issues start.
For those over in the Development thread that I can not access yet will off seen many people saying all is good and others saying all is bad. Well I have issues, I have eventually got the Wifi sorking but I have no sound at all. Everytime I try to watch a video it errors out and restarts.
When I try to make a call it goes to the dialer, I enter the number and press call and the screen goes black however the outgoing call connects. I cant end the call as the screen is black, however if I keep pressing the home button I eventually get to the main screen.
The same happens on incoming calls, the screen just goes black and the phone vibrates due to not producing any sound.
This is what I currently have
Model Number
GT-I9505
Android Version
4.3
Baseband Version
I9505XXUEMJ5
Kernel Version
3.4.67-Google-Edition-v-10
[email protected] #1
Build Number
Omega v13.1 - XXUEMJ5
SELinux Status
Permissive
Secure Boot Status
Type : Samsung
This is what I read in the Omega thread

Regarding flashing modems with Odin.
Use the file 'GSM_Modem_XXUEMJ5_and_LTE_Modem_XXUBMH1.tar'
1. Open Odin (3.04 or 3.07)
2. Untick 'Auto Reboot'
3. Select the .tar-file in PHONE
4. Shut down phone
5. Start phone in Download mode (Power + Vol down)
6. Connect phone
7. Press Start in Odin
8. When flashing ends, wait until the message box changes from RESET!(Blue) to PASS!(Green) This takes about 2 minutes.
If you don't wait for this, the result is more random....9. Unplug your phone and restart
10. Enjoy Omega 13.1
This works every time for me...

thanks for the comments, however I have tried that loads of times.
I really need access to that development forum, if any mods are present please wave your magic wand.
Here's how others have fixed the issue. I still am unable to find a good solution in the development thread.

Sorry I just download this file.... This file needs to be installed from odin just by selecting the tar as PHONE,, and it installs both modems..
But you can try the following files as seperate files...
Modem MJ5
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23156208500212197
Wifi Fix MH1
http://d-h.st/f99
I have tried and it works... But I have the old bootloader...
If you have the new bootloader you might want to try this...(I have not tried it) Be aware that of course you will set knox to 1... BUT ONLY IF YOU HAVE ALREADY THE NEW BOOTLOADER..
Omega ROM does not include the new bootloader!
Install MJ5 modem from ODIN
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23156208500212197
Install wifi fix MJ5 from ODIN
http://d-h.st/oGp
AND!!!!
install stock kernel from CWM

I had the no sound issue, too. Tried every method of flashig the different modems but to no avail.
What I did to fix it was flashing Mega pre-rooted Stock Rom through Odin from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
I then re-installed CWM and installed Omega 13.1 without installing any of the modems and everything seems to be working now. I don't use LTE though, so don't know if that works.
Just be aware of the KNOX problems. Mine was showing warranty void already anyway, so I didn't care. Figured it's better to lose warranty than sound...

My s4 is possessed. I bought it from Craigslist and then I've got it unlocked. It's on 4.2.2 but I was trying to update it. When attempting to update it I got DM initialization is not ready. I guess the phone was rooted so I downloaded Superuser to unroot it through settings and was able to do so. Still no update so I tried Kies but no luck. I wanted to use odin to put the same firmware but my firmware is i337ucuamf3 and had no luck. I used all 3 methods of a hard reset. I used power + home + volume up, no luck. Next I went into settings > account > back up & reset > factory reset, it rebooted and download screen came on. I even try the numeric code and nothing happened. I trying to hard reset and maybe update to kit kat if possible.. Can anyone help? I'm selling this phone and need it in "normal condition"

Try using this.. Not sure if u can still download the .tar file. The post is kinda old. It sounds like you need to Odin back to stock using mf3 files.

They make all in one mf3 .tar files that you can use in Odin to flash to complete out of the box functions. Only problem with that is if the phone is sim unlocked you will loose that function I do believe.

I will give it a try in the a.m. but if it becomes locked, no biggie because the person I'm selling it to needs Att
You can use this program from Samsung to get everything back to stock:

Hey guys quick question before I download and attempt it, I have an Australian i9506 (Cat 4 LTE) but we don't have an official 5.0.1 firmware yet.
Can I just download the Nordic version from http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9506/ and install it, or would it brick my phone/radios not work?
Thanks

Hi mate,
Yes you can !! it will not brick it , you may have (or not) problems with the modem as maybe is not the best for your region but you can always flash another...
should not be a problem
BACKUP first , nandroid and your EFS Folder, just in case there is a problem
Just to add to the previous suggestion, use Wanam's EFS Backup Tool rather than Samsung Tool, as it not only backs up the EFS partition but the hidden partitions where the IMEI and the modem are stored.

+1 mate!!
It also depends if your phone is carrier locked.
Thanks for the advice guys I'm giving it a try now, will edit as I go. My phone is not carrier locked (Voda AU don't lock them fortunately but they provide the codes on their website for free to unlock anyway).
So I downloaded Odin3 3.09 and the firmware I9506XXUDOA6_I9506NEEDOA6_NEE (this is the link from sammobile).
I'm following the instructions I found on another site but it's basically put the phone into download mode (home, power and volume down), agree to enter download mode, in Odin for AP select the .tar.md5, make sure Auto Reboot and F. Time Reset are ticked but not Re-Partition or anything else and start.
EDIT 1: The phone rebooted into recovery and updated something, now the phone is booting with a new boot animation. (for those referring to this I was on the latest AU Voda FW, then updated to CM12 5.0.2).
EDIT 2: After the usual nerve-wracking amount of time of first boot the boot logo finally went away and the usual "optimizing apps" message has come up and it's started (235 apps whoa the bloat). Waiting for that but at least it's working to a point where I can recover it. I just realised it's 6:10AM now and I FORGOT TO MAKE A BACK UP. I hope this works but worse case scenario there's a 4.4.2 Vodafone firmware I could flash and try my luck with if this doesn't work out.
EDIT 3: I'm not sure if it's part of the setup process but the word "UP" then a short progress bar appeared on the screen, now I've got only a black screen with a status bar (4G icon is there but no clock). I have rebooted from the power menu, let's see what's going on here.
EDIT 4: Cache wipe from stock recovery didn't work, trying factory reset from stock recovery. I note that the first time I set up the phone it was plugged into the computer with ODIN still running, I don't think it could have interfered but I unplugged the phone this time just in case.
EDIT 5: I'm not sure if it was ODIN or needing to do a factory reset but it's working now, I'm running through the set up. WiFi is working 100%.
Final EDIT: Everything is working 100%, tested the camera, proximity sensor, screen rotation, voice calls, mobile data, wifi and it's all 100%.

Thanks for let in us know.
For any other Aussies out there trying this I'm on day two and everything is working perfectly, getting root is super easy too, just use Odin to flash a custom recovery (Solk's CWM from May 2014 works great), boot into the recovery and install UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.45.zip, exit and when it asks if you want to repair root say yes. Reboot, go to the play store, update to the latest SuperSU and all is well.
I have a hard-bricked Samsung galaxy note 4.
After I rooted my note 4, it started to display problems. It would randomly crash processes, reset, and freeze. One day, it turned off by itself despite the battery being at around 40%. I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't respond.
I replaced the battery thinking it was a battery problem. It didn't fix the problem. I also replaced the power button inside my phone. That didn't fix it, either.
My phone cannot enter download mode. It also doesn't respond when i plug it into an outlet.
When i connect the phone to my computer, my phone is recognized as this device:
Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM5) [Ports(COM&LPT)]
Manufacturer: Unavailable
Model: QHSUSB__BULK
Model Number: Unavailable
Categories: Unknown
Description: Unavailable
Does anyone have a solution/fix for de-bricking a hard bricked note 4 SM-N910W8 with these problems? I've searched everywhere w/ no success. Thanks.
Edit - GREAT NEWS, fellow N910W8 users! A user posted the N910W8 debrick image, today! I haven't used it to debrick my phone, yet (My phone is disassembled and i may need a new battery) but there's no harm in trying it.

Please explain what exactly did you do before starting to have those issues. What did you use for rooting?

Ok. I'll explain step-by-step. Since i'm a new user, i can't post outside links in my messages. I'll try to explain how i did it w/o links. I'll PM you the links i used to give you a clearer message on how i did it. Hopefully, i can PM links.
1. My phone was initially running 5.1.1 lollipop (n910w8vlu1coi4) before I decided to root it. It didn't display any of the problems that it had after rooting it.
Unfortunately, i used a guide that doesn't seem to exist, anymore.
I downloaded these files
- CF-Auto-Root-tritecan-tritecan-smn910w8.tar
- SuperSU - v2.65-20151226141550
- Odin3 - v3.10.6
- twrp-3.0.2-0-tritecan.img.tar
I did all of the pre-req things i was supposed to do before rooting (turned on developer mode & turned on USB Debugging). I put the CF-Auto-Root file in the AP field of Odin & pressed start. It passed. Afterwards, i put my phone in DL mode again and installed TWRP via the AP section of Odin. It passed as well.
My phone didn't root initially from doing both of those things. I had to go into TWRP and root the phone from there.
2. After doing all of that, my phone started to crash processes. Contacts crashed first from what I can remember. Others crashed over and over again. I thought it was due to having a bunch of apps on my phone prior to rooting it that didn't react well to the custom firmware/root. I decided to factory reset the phone via the OS' settings. When it turned back on, it continued to crash processes.
3. I decided to install CM 12.1 to see if that'd make a difference. I installed it via TWRP.
When i first booted CM12.1 up, i found that processes didn't crash on it, anymore. Also, it was faster than it was before. Unfortunately, it started to display other problems. It would freeze, reset, and turn off on its own. I reverted back to what i had before when that happened.
4. I decided that the CF-Root Tar image i installed to Odin to root my phone was screwing it up. I decided to un-root my phone by going back to stock firmware. I used samfirm (Samsung Firmware Downloader) to download the latest stock firmware for my phone.
Android 6.0.1 was the only stock firmware i could download. This was the name of the file:
SM-N910W8_1_20160507131653_k12ydzqths.zip
I flashed it to my device via odin by putting it in the AP section of the program. It passed.
5. When i booted up my phone after that, it seemed fine. It had a battery drain problem but that was a widely reported problem w/ android 6.0.1. My phone also wasn't rooted, anymore.
Unfortunately, the problems my phone had before came back. It would freeze and reset here and there. The processes didn't crash like they did after i initially rooted the device, though.
6. About a week later, my phone turned off by itself & wouldn't turn on anymore. I hooked up the phone to my computer and it wouldn't recognize it as a note 4. It recognized my phone as "QHSUSB_BULK".

Check the thread's initial comment. I updated it with the N910w8 debrick.img and where it was found. They have steps on how to fix your phone.
My note 4, randomly crashed, running completely stock.
Began bootlooping and hasn't stopped.
Have downloaded firmwares from Samsung-Firmware . org, as SamMobile will literally not allow me to download anything for free??
No firmware has worked on the device, Have tried numerous PDA versions as I am unsure which the phone originally is.
The first firmware gave the error "dm-verity verification failed" in the recovery menu.
Have wiped cache and data.
Note: This is actually the second N910F which had corrupted itself and stopped working.
Help!
Do you want to recover some data from it?
If Not than you can try factory reset from Recovery menu.
Other than that it might be memory corrupted or your battery.
Try to change the battery.

New battery: Allowed the phone to boot past the first "Samsung Note 4" screen to : "Samsung" logo, but the phone made a loud beep/screech.
If you want to reflash the Stock ROM search for a version on https://updato.com
I just reflashed mine (g910f) even twice as I had an Infini-Boot, too. After cleaning Dalvik/Cache and formatting data, taking out the battery, after some time it suddenly displayed that it's going to setup apps and it works since then ...
So maybe just be patient.

to get the latest stock rom for your device, free and fast
look what you have to do:
download this (windows ) application and install it on your windows pc.
This is the aplication that will allow you to search and download the latest stock rom for your phone.
It connect to Samsung servers and in very little time you will have a new stock rom on your pc.
choose samfirm 3.06
extract it on a folder on your PC and run samfirm.exe
in the opening menu type
SM-N910F(or T/V/W etc your phones model)
REGION..... xxx (your region code)
these 2 you can find in a sticker under your battery if you open the phone and take off the battery
tick '' BINARY NATURE''
(If you dont tick BINARY...'' you will get the whole stock rom in one file xxxx.tar.md5 to flash it in the oding using the AP tab)
CHECK UPDATES>DOWNLOAD
THIS WAY YOU WILL GET THE LATEST STOCK ROM FOR YOUR PHONE/REGION
Binary nature means the rom split in 4 files
1. BL- bootloader
2.AP - rom
3. CP - modem
4. CSC - Customer support code(region/country)
This is what a stock rom is consist of
this kind of rom is also called REPAIR ROM, because you can use it to repair your phone.
If you look in odin you will find exactly these 4 entries.
So you can put each in the appropriate box and flash them all and so have a stock rom.
push start
Wait until rom flashes and phone reboots.
Hopefully it will solve your problem and everything will go as we all wish to.
BUT, from what you are describing, i am afraid for 2 things:
1. Your battery is almost dead, thats the good scenario .
With 20 $ you will solve it.
So new battery, new rom> problem solved, or
2. You are starting to have the emmc failure on your phone.
Thats a tough one.
Lets hope its not the case.
Just in case
