S5 Active G870F questions... - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a S5 Active G870a on AT&T which I need to replace due to cracked glass and a flaky charging port. No SD card or root are deal breakers, so I think I am going to stay with the S5 Active. While pricing, I found the G870f variant and have a couple of questions about it...
1. Is the bootloader unlocked on the G870f?
1a. If so, does that mean it can go with TWRP w/o safestrap?
2. Most ROMs specifically point to G870a, are there any issues with using them on G870f (with, maybe, an additional kernel flash)?
3. Is anyone using the G870f on AT&T? Any issues or thoughts?
Thank you very kindly.

Sorry that I can't answer most of your questions, but I have an G870F rooted and with the TWRP recovery installed (Intended for the S5). I'd be happy to know if I'd be able to use mods intended for the AT&T phone, as well. And what wouöd happen if I installed the cyanogen mod for S5..

[Q] New To S5 - Quick Clarification Questions

Good afternoon all!
I'm well-aware of the "search before you post" mentality of this forum, and I apologize if these questions have been answered correctly elsewhere - I'm seeing conflicting information
I'm new to the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V), moving from the Galaxy S3 (running Hyperdrive V16), and I'm hoping to root my phone to gain some of the features that I had previously (with the most important being unlocked tethering). However, I'm reading in different sources that it's safe to root/not safe to root, safe to unlock/not safe to unlock (and that there isn't even an unlocked bootloader for the Verizon variant), etc. I'm hoping to put these rumors to rest by asking the following questions simply:
Is it currently safe to root the SM-G900V variant of the Galaxy S5?
Is it currently safe (or possible) to unlock the bootloader for the SM-G900V variant of the Galaxy S5?
If the above are true, what is your favorite recommendation for a person who is interested in a stock, rooted, deodexed experience?
Thanks to all of you for your hard work developing, and for the information! :good:

Towel root will work on the SM G900V but the bootloader is still locked, so no custom recovery but SU and Titanium work fine

Rooting Galaxy S5 LTE-A G906K

Hi guys. Been a long time since I've rooted a phone. To be honest, I think the One-X was the last phone I rooted. Anyways, I'm having some trouble, well confused.
I'd like to root my phone, just root. No other ROMs or anything but cannot seem to find a thread to satisfies my phone.
I have a S5 LTE-A, G906K currently on Android 5.0.1 and running lrx22x.g906kktu1bog2 .
But I cannot seem to find anything that matches the lrx22x.g906kktu1bog2 or is this not required and I can just flash using ODIN?
If possible, could you post links thanks.

SM-G530AZ Questions

I have the cricket variant of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime which I have rooted, installed SuperSU, and unlocked the boot loader (I think). But I don't see any custom recoveries available for my device. My question is there one available? If not what do I need to do to port TWRP to my device? I'm quite new to this type of thing and in dire need of some assistance.

Rooting the S8, Installing a custom Recovery, etc.

Hello guys and gals. I want too root my Samsung Galaxy S8 (T-Mobile) and install TWRP on it, so that I can flash a custom rom. I have however read very negative things about people trying to modify their S8 devices and I am not sure it is as easy or safe as modifying my previous phone (The Nexus 6). I want to ask if it is currently safe, and if so, some reliable links to what I am looking for. Thanks.
You can't root the tmo s8 since it has a locked bootloader, you need the exynos s8.

Can SM-G935T be rooted and have custom rom installed?

Hi there, I'm getting pretty confused with all the conflicting information on my T-Mobile S7 Edge. It seems like it's possible to root, but some people have said that you can't install custom roms due to a locked bootloader. It's kind of confusing for me with all the different models of the S7 edge (qualcomm, exynos, chinese qualcomm, and all the different carriers) so it would just be really nice to see exactly what I can and cannot do on my phone. For example, can I root? Can I install TWRP? Can I install a custom ROM? Sorry if there are clear answers to all these questions, but I just can't find everything out that I need to know.
Thanks
